It’s reports like this that make me wonder if they aren’t really some kind of counter program to make themselves look ridiculous.

Fair enough, though I never noticed any number of Mexican Engineers in Silicon Valley, but Mexico is their country. I suppose some could argue by asking how many are Aztecs and how many of Spanish descent but then Silicon Valley has more foreign engineers than American (born). I wonder if their night shift clean up crew is all Americans that don’t speak the language?

If any white South Africans would want to come here it would probably in their best interest to hide their history, change their name, maybe claim to be a Canadian.

Although it would be human for slave owners of relatively small numbers of slaves to think of slaves like family, they apparently still thought of them as children incapable of being a free thinking person, and might sell them out of economic interest or even “for their own good”. I’d guess that when slaves are cooking your dinner, raising your children, working the crops and living out back, promising to eventually free them is an attempted insurance that you won’t be attacked or poisoned, though some altruism shouldn’t be dismissed.

As a descendant of south, that being English from the coasts of Carolina, no familiar history or opinion was ever taught or expressed to me about the Civil War or slavery, until the higher grades of educational institutions seemingly resurrected the whole thing. Though the modern distancing of white southerners from any connection to slavery, seems to mean they are against the very idea of thinking about an ancient human institution now regarded as horrendous, I suspect modern AI and robots will fill that human need for chore doers.

I doubt the future will notice as new generations are brought up under the current system. Even in places like Alabama the back country is full of liberal ideology.

From what I’ve read Harris used Brown as much as he used her which may (or may not) offend feminists voters. Another Californian waiting in the wings is Gavin Newsom who apparently appeals to both genders.

Glad to read China’s government is so corruption free. Though prosecuting 300k corruption cases a year apparently hasn’t found everybody honest and aboveboard, not that I should say anything negative about China without condemning my own country first. Besides where else can we get body organs from in the black market.

I’d agree with that but I still don’t quite get the lack of plane wreckage at the Pentagon. Of course conspiracy theorists always have an explanation, which may be part of the conspiracy too.

I prefer Fred’s inescapable vision of the Old Bailey’s incoming inhabitants than this hopeful change for our future.

I dunno, sneaky government might first ban lead, you know because it’s bad for the kids, substitute with some hard compound that eventually burns out barrels and then just ban bullets if somebody’s still shooting. It could happen, bureaucrats work on a long time scale, probably cause their job’s guaranteed.
