RSS“They can’t even imagine Israel being in the wrong, even though it obviously is. They can’t imagine Hamas being noble and chivalrous fighters, and Israelis being cowardly child-killing terrorists, though such is obviously the case. ”
and right there you told the world that this is an “obviously” biased article and there is no reason to read further. Objective journalism is just that, objective…no projecting your personal biases or wishful thinking required.
The New York Times had a library of health articles about the epidemic of uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes, HBP and obesity among the Black, Puerto Rican and Dominican population in the city back a few years ago which they made available to nonsubscribers. It’s a multigenerational problem with fathers and sons getting kidney disease, losing eyesight, and having feet and legs amputated. The amazing thing was that in addition to being unable to change their diet or lifestyle they were not taking their medications. One of the proposed solutions was using community groups to hire people to knock on doors to remind them to take their meds. Medicaid and Obamacare are free or highly subsidized for the low or moderate-income. The developing narrative is that systemic racism and lack of healthcare are responsible. We need to know who is actually succumbing to the virus.
Blacks have less lung volume than whites. That's an anatomical fact no physician would dispute. Not sure how that would increase Covid-19 morbidity in blacks though.

Israel is purchasing “thousands” of ventilators for the covid19 epidemic and expects delivery in May. How is a country of 8 million, that doesn’t manufacture them, able to get this number of these highly desired machines? All of the other much larger rich countries are desperate for even a fraction of that number.

The PBS Program NEWSHOUR a couple of days ago had a segment about the Friday Gaza protests that have continued for over a year. On the Israel side of the fence at times they have deployed as many as 100 snipers. As they fire live ammo the casualties have been substantial. Over 7000 Palestinians have been shot mostly in the legs and many have been maimed which seems the intention and about 275 have been killed. The UN had an investigation and they claim most of the killed were unarmed. The UN maintains that the slaughter is a war crime.Of course, the Palestinians carry on like idiots but shooting unarmed people is another thing. This has been mostly ignored in the US. Our media has been obsessed with the separation of families at our border. Can you imagine if any migrants were shot at our border or if the Austrians shot a migrant for crashing their fence in 2015. Apparently, there has been a massive backlash at PBS for reporting this. If you think that we should be aware of developments with our “greatest friend in the ME” then call your local PBS station and tell them we’re smart enough to handle the news and thank them.
Came here from Steyn on Line, and heartened that you wondered about Mr Phillips’ bona fides as a “Marine Vietnam Veteran”. Indeed, American troops were pulled out of Vietnam in 1973. Moreover, Marine combat troops were pulled out of Vietnam in 1971. It seems highly unlikely that Mr Phillips really served in Vietnam. Of course, in keeping with the times, perhaps all that matters (to Phillips, anyway) is that he “identifies” as a Marine Vietnam Veteran.
Unfortunately, what Steve does not really want to admit that the distress in the working class white community is primarily the doing of (a) the white working class itself and (b) conservatism.
Unfortunately, the truth is that liberalism, cosmopolitanism, urbanism has been pretty good for white people who are exposed to it. Compare life expectancies of Minnesota with Wisconsin and than with Indiana (as we slide down the conservative scale). Kentucky, Ohio, most of the rural rust belt has been under conservative (and not the neocon, internationalist conservative) rule for at least 15 years now. As it turns out, under Trumpian rule, (which has already been in place in these states for 15 years as I said) rather than thrive, working class whites languish even more so.
But Mexicans.
GOPe rule - liberal, internationalist and completely bought but pretending to be conservative and patriotic.Replies: @epochehusserl
