RSSDirect democracy = majority rules. Extremely bad idea.
If that’s really Huff Post’s editorial board, we should expect nothing but leftist nonsense from these clueless, no-nothing 20-year-olds.
Before 1970, practically every interaction I (as a kid or teenager) had with adult black folks was positive. Blacks were polite, cordial and non-threatening. Just look at films of the era on You Tube. Black musicians are obviously talented and seem like happy, nice guys that anyone would have over for dinner. Black men marching with MLK are well-dressed, dignified, and behave at least as civilized as middle-class Caucasians.
Something happened around 1968; that year was a turning point for USA. Student protests and other b.s. — as well as various social dynamics — sent us into a slow, downward spiral. Younger blacks had a lot of anger, which hasn’t helped them nor abated to this day. Still, in my suburban world, interactions with blacks and other ethnics are almost entirely cordial. I’ve found that if you’re polite to other people, they’ll be polite to you.
Few want to pick a pointless fight when it would risk some kind of damage to themselves with no prospect of gain, but many people will injure you if it costs them nothing and they gain even a little. Remember that if you want to avoid future losses. The US is becoming a society in which you can only trust a very few, not even necessarily your relatives.

Svigor’s comment proves the OP’s point– it has no merit and wouldn’t have been published 30 years ago — and rightly so.
