RSSI’ve always viewed Marx as a Christian thinker insofar as his writings are basically “revelations” for a secular age. Same end goal anyways
YES! THIS
Sometimes, it is hard to tell, from a photograph, the impression someone makes in person. She may well have had an overwhelming presence, in person. I suppose she looked nice enough, when she was younger.
Did you ever read the thing where the 80 year old Hayek said Margaret Thatcher was the most beautiful woman he had ever met?
There are some attractive people that look better in person than on camera.
Do women discriminate on the basis of height? I'm not sure they do, except to the extent that women generally don't want a man who is shorter than they are. Women who are into fashion might also want few inches to compensate for extra height if they're wearing heels.
So what’s the point of women discriminating over men’s height?
The most common question I get on dating apps is how tall I am. I went on a date with a 5’8 woman and she complimented me with “wow your tall” despite me only having an extra two inches on her.
As you as you are taller than the woman
Yeah, it’s they are called Tool.
This is basically the explanation for QAnon. Normal people know something is badly wrong and that malevolent forces are fast at work regime-changing their country away from them. But they've long been conditioned not to allow themselves to notice or to name these forces for what they are and to reflexively spurn anyone who dares to do so, despite the fact that all of what is happening is happening more or less openly and notoriously. The cognitive dissonance is driving these people insane and forcing them into ever-more-tortured fantasies of pedophile cabals, "Communists" rigging elections, "Muslims" running the federal reserve, and that a shifty real estate tycoon and realty TV star turned incompetent politician was really a secret superhero coming to save them.Replies: @The real Jackson Houston, @TTSSYF
The right’s fears are reasonable, but the narrowness of the current Overton Window blocks them from conceiving of the threat as manifesting itself from America’s new most sacred value Diversity!, So they make up various fears that strike them as noncontroversial and nondivisive (pedophilia) and loves, such as a dynastic cult of personality, intended to solve the problems of a multiracial empire through nonracial expedients.
I want to believe this opinion and I’ve tried to shift some of my more conspiracy minded friends towards the real problems…
But I just think they really like this cosmology
I wonder how many of these arguments could come back to bite them? Imagine Harvard doing away with “diversity” because ‘hey we are all one big family?”
Maybe this is some serious long game
In this debate it always seems that the “nature” side of the debate always acknowledges the postmodern critique and even endorses some its principals. For example, I find there nothing controversial about saying ‘the concept of families has varied throughout history’ or saying something like, ‘[to a certain extent] social norms and conventions can alter certain behaviors.’
It just seems that the other side —‘nature’ proponents— not only disagree with other side completely but are actively trying to make that argument disappear.
On a side note: I am beginning to think that the side with the most nuance tends to be true 9:10.
Have you read Family Happiness?
As a musician who deals with a lot of great musicians I am of the mind that high intelligence does not correlate with creativity/musical talent.
Also, have you ever listened to interviews with musicians? They seem rather average on the intellectual scale. The depth of their music is almost a creation by critics
But this is music. I’m sure it’s very different with writing
Spot on! I remember leaving the theater with my friends and we all talked about how it might just be the great “anti-hippy film” of our lives.
Also, a lot of films that take place in the 60s overemphasize the size of the hippy movement. From what I read, wouldn’t the main characters be more emblematic of the “60s” man? Perhaps embracing a mild hedonism but for the most part being manly men?
You'd be right.

Here is my frank discussion on the cycle of subculture creations
1: A small group of awkward smart men get together and make up something. Largely get mocked and ignored by culture.
2: After awhile more and more “average” men begin to get involved in at as well.
3: Money, fame, and women begin to enter the subculture.
4: A small group of “independent” women enter the scene. Mostly welcomed but a lot of the awkward men push back against this for good and bad reasons.
5: Media pretends that minorities who aren’t interested in the subculture were excluded and makes ineffective pushes to get more of them in (if it’s a black subculture then whites are typically interested in it, their challenge is keeping it black)
6: Women writ large somewhat get involved in the community which cements the subculture as mainstream.
7: Awkward smart guys, once again outcast, begin to create anew.
Now plug in rock n roll, computers, and video games into my cycle and tell me that doesn’t sound familiar!!!!!!!!!
People always bring up this canard about important “western people” being from North Africa and the Levant. It only shows a lack of understanding about history, geography, and genetics.
1: These areas were considered part of the West. They fell away after they were conquered by Arabs/Muslims
2: Many of these areas were settled by by Greeks and other European groups (see: Phonecians)
3: These people still look relatively white. They have been mixed though. They have been concurred by Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Persians, Indians, Mongols, French, and the British
The sorting of natural abilities has already happened to a certain extent.
But if we kept the “edifying myth” how much harm would it do? My mom raised me to believe I could be anything I wanted to do. I found out quickly that wasn’t true. So what if as a child I dreamed of being a starting quarterback when I was kid? By high school I realized this wasn’t going to happen be 5’9 150. I had a friend who wanted to be an astronaut and he’s happy enough working mid management.
