Do they know it’s a stupid trope and go for it anyway or do they honestly think its a hot take? I’ve wondered the same thing with talking about the Statue of Liberty in the context of immigration. Do they realize how played out it is? Or are left wing talking points by definition never played out?

Never been a huge fan of the ‘obvious’ conspiracies (JFK etc.). I still say the odds are on a real suicide. Older man, no more of his girls or decent food or anything he likes forever. Also, you can tell how deep down Beto O’Rourke is ecstatic over this. You may be right that RW violence isn’t all that common, but you also underestimate the power of the narrative. Get ready for ‘white terrorism’ as the main issue all day, every day. You don’t need a lot of these incidents because they can run quite a distance with just a few of them. This is going to get very amusing. Kamala’s got every reason to go after him hard. The more she damages him the more stuff (VP, Cabinet, or whatever) he’ll have to promise her. And if she actually kills off his campaign all the better.

Absolutely agree. Great point. I remember seeing it too back then and by no means only in the local/underground/punk scenes. Plenty of exposure to it at the bigger corporate shows too like the Lollapalooza tours etc. A lot of non college bound kids got exposure to it that they wouldn’t have otherwise and the rest were primed for further indoctrination later on.

Orville in particular seems quite effeminate in some of the photos of them. The more I learn about them the more I think he may have been gay. Probably never acted on it though.

Contrast this with the reaction to the photo of Bush looking at New Orleans from Air Force 1 after Katrina. That was supposedly a sign of how awful he was, despite having a look of gravitas (or the closest to it a Bush can muster) on his face.
