PISA has had a major revision in methdology post-2015, so I would take any post-2015 result with a grain of salt. For Sweden, our media reported that we had the largest share (11%) of pupuls who were excluded because they were "newly arrived". Our coverage ratio (86%) is not terrible, but lower than Russia (94%) and Germany (99%!). These are truly bottom of the barrel types. Had we had a similar coverage ratio to Germany, you'd have seen our scores tank.

Conversely, had Germany had our coverage ratio, they'd probably score close to Estonia.

To the extent that "Asians" are actually worse drivers than the average American, it's largely if not entirely a function of the roots of automobile culture in their countries. Not only did the average American grow up in a car-centric culture, so did their parents and grandparents. Many Americans are fifth and sixth generation drivers.

If you were to take a time machine back in time one hundred years in the US, your cute panties would be full of doo-doo in very short order, since car culture was very new and people didn't really know what they were doing.

Japan is a country chock full of "Asians" who tend to be excellent drivers. This is because car culture has deep roots there, even if less deep than ours.

China, on the other hand, is a completely different story. I'm a kid compared to Sailer and a lot of the commenters here but I'm old enough to remember when China was known in large part for its swarms of bicycles.

You don't need to be that smart to become an Engineer - an IQ of 135 will do it. There are any number of East Asian females who top that easily. My IQ is 140+ and my daughter tops me by 3 to 5 points - and she's not that unusual. As it happens, she chose a career in Life Science, but with her academic results in Secondary School she could have creamed Engineering.

The Big Three prestige professions in East Asia are Medicine, Law and Engineering, not because you need to be exceptionally bright, but because they pay very well. Having a higher IQ might earn you a career in Physics or Mathematics, but you're going to be a pauper compared to people working in the Big Three. And some of them in turn probably wish they had pursued a career in banking and finance - not around 2008, but before and since.

Also, I am the only person to notice that among whites blonde females tend to be better at sports than brunettes. Perhaps this is just a British and Australian thing, but there tends to be a disporportionately high percentage of blonde females into hockey, soccer, cricket, surfing, skiing etc.
