Regarding the Jewish over representation in science: it should be taken into account that science begins in big cities and in the mid-20th century USSR nearly all Jews lived in big cities, unlike other ethnic groups. This alone has dramatically increased opportunities for them to enter science. I wouldn’t be surprised if this nearly 6-fold over representation over Russians would decrease to merely 3 or 4 if everything was taken into account. And then the practical effects of extreme Jewish nepotism must be factored in too. It should go down to the factor 3 or less I guess.

Another perspective: other people working in the field may wish to keep their views and criticisms and publish them themselves, rather than ‘giving them away’ on a public site…

There was a long article in The Atlantic a while ago on Russia, it was not primarily about demographics, but this paragraph did shock me:

I think you need to understand the tone of the magazine that the War Nerd writes for, the Exile. Any magazine whose website carries an opinion poll asking readers to pick their favorite style of pubic hair on a woman is not going to be the Wall Street Journal is it? The War Nerd pieces are there as informed entertainment.

Why is blondness rare outside of Europe given that in general men of all races prefer younger looking women? His theory is no worse than any other theory that I’m aware of.

It seems to me that the question that the respondents to RWNs poll answered was not the one they were asked. They largely appear to have answered the question “Which public figure in the USA do you think is a complete dick?”. From that point of view the answers seem reasonable.
