This was actually similar to my first best guess. Some sort of Western sabotage during the military games in Wuhan or some such cloak and dagger intrigue with CIA boogiemen on the job.

But I’m not a 60 year old man that wants to live forever, so I interpret the “death” statistics quite differently. I also interpret the “diagnoses” of covid quite differently.

So now the threat of unleashed bioweapons appears to be mostly a fearmongering technique, regardless of whether the cat is in that box or some other box. Cats love boxes. Who knows which one is in which? All we really know is that this virus was apparently engineered, and its purpose was to completely eradicate the common flu.

I’m not a scared old man, and realize that covid is trivial enough to be a fiction when compared to its accompanying “co-morbidities”.

Unz sees covid as one more problem that needs to be solved in some sort of compulsive, single minded obsession to reduce his opportunities to die.

So he trusts the doctors who pile up “statistics” and “reality” one convenient presumption, one half truth at a time. I don’t do that. When a diabetic or cancer patient dies, I don’t make up some fashionable, invisible, transmissible reason for it.

Incidentally, I’ve fucked enough “scientists” and “doctors” to know that they like taking orders. They’re intellectually fallible, and morally facile people who love their career and prestige, regardless of the accompanying chain of authority.

When we realize how over diagnosed this virus is, inflated at every metric possible, but especially the death metric, covid becomes an example of the West sabotaging itself, not China.

Unz be at his doctor’s like, “Please, can I have my quarterly booster early?? Is it time for my cats’ to get theirs too? Yay! Tytyty Please don’t let me die, please, omg, pls, no god no doctor, pls, never!”

You haven’t thought this through. If you make science a job that immigrants can do as the price of getting their kids US citizenship, the long term consequence is that you drive Americans out of science completely.

The immigrant is willing to pay a premium to get his kids into the US, so over time compensation, working conditions, job security, etc. for scientists deteriorate, until science isn’t an attractive career for the best American students. This isn’t a hypothetical, it’s been going on for decades.

Also, science only works if scientists are honest and unselfish, even when nobody is looking. Immigrants from low trust cultures have a harder time resisting the temptation to cut corners.

And yet, just one of those compromises may well have destroyed America .

You overestimate the importance of being “better at debates.” The point of debates is not to prove your ideas are better. The fraction of the audience capable of following that logic has made their minds up already. The point of having a debate is that it gives you a chance to create a moment that shows your strength and your opponent’s weakness in a memorable way that gets through to the persuadable/not-too-bright voters out there. It should be obvious that Trump can play that game better than twerpy Cruz.
