RSSWow, a whole 11% - maybe if he had kept his big mouth shut he could have topped 12% in 2020! In the last 3 elections, the Dems have taken Maryland with at least 60% of the vote. The last time it voted R was in 1988 (a Republican landslide year). Trump received 8% of the black vote in 2016. I don't think he is counting on the black vote to put him back in the White House. What Hillary did was completely different. Whites are still 70% of the electorate and (even though she didn't think so - math not her strong suite) she NEEDED the votes of Deplorables to win.Dems insult Trump every day, from the leadership to the press to the Party base. Read the NY Times and its comments section. They call him a liar right in the news section, not just on the editorial page. If there's a story about how cheese no longer tastes as good as it used to, people write in to say that it's Trump's fault. If there's a story about the Chinese dictatorship oppressing its own people, people write to say that Trump is even worse. There's nothing bad happening in the world that's not linked to Trump.Replies: @Hypnotoad666, @MikeW, @Anon
Trump should also keep in mind that 11% of Baltimore City voted for him
I don’t have any problem with Trump dissing Dems or protesters who are attacking him. I’m just saying he shouldn’t go after a whole city, one that, like any other city, has slackers and hard workers, retired veterans and criminals. Trump always uses too broad a brush with his insults. That’s dumb politically and, well, it’s deplorable.
What sorts of things should he say instead?

I’m amazed that so many support Trump’s comments on Baltimore, they’re just way out of line. They’re similar to Hillary’s comments about deplorables: if you want to become President, or remain President, you shouldn’t insult millions of people in one casual comment. Trump should also keep in mind that 11% of Baltimore City voted for him – he’s bashing some of his own people.
Thatcher said things like: "Those people over there demonstrating aren't my supporters, for which I'm profoundly grateful."

And the 11% are probably hoping that local pols will listen to Trump and clean up the district.

I wish I had the specific context, but I recall when Obama was President he said “The mere fact someone would have a better life in the U.S. doesn’t automatically give them the right to immigrate here.”
That perfectly reasonable statement wasn’t controversial in its time; nowadays it would generate a firestorm of fury from the Left.
From what I’ve read about the UK’s reverse mentoring push, it’s not the appalling attack on old whitey that this article implies.
Nobody’s following anyone around or monitoring their behavior. The mentor and mentee just sit down for a few bull sessions, maybe do a couple social outings, with the goal of understanding each other’s perspective, then the relationship is over. Both parties now have a connection that may be valuable in the future. It’s just forced networking.
Cultural habits also seem to be obscured when people talk about obesity. In 2017 Chicago Public Schools published a map of obesity rates among their students. ranging from 13% to 33% in different neighborhoods. There was a lot of talk about socioeconomic roots of obesity, and it’s true the leanest kids were from affluent white neighborhoods. But no one mentioned that the fattest kids weren’t from the poorest neighborhoods, but rather the mostly Hispanic ones.
The West Ridge neighborhood Steve talks about was on the fatter end of the scale. That surprises me, as Asians and Orthodox Jews don’t seem particularly chubby to me. Of course they may not send their kids to Chicago Public Schools.
Yes. Smollett is a colossal idiot and sociopath, but his career is toast and that’s good enough. People need to put down the torches and pitchforks and move on to the next celebrity clown.
Did he even get fired from his show?

Alright after reading this I had to search Google for an image of this Jennifer Natalya Pritzker. I just couldn’t picture a female version of our Gov Pritzker (AKA pumpkin head, the guy my Mom refused to vote for because “he’s fat and ugly”). Now I’ve seen it: J.B. please don’t go there!
Well I’ve gotta agree with Zak for the most part. Those 16 felonies were just 8 lies Smollett said to police, and then repeated to detectives. Come on. It’s not worth sending someone to jail over a stupid publicity stunt where nobody was harmed.
But as a person of color Zak should be screaming about Smollett’s continued sanctimonious denials. “Just fess up and move on, brother. You’re an embarrassment, not a hero, to black America.”
Think again about the precedent of this case: No punishment (all charges dropped) for a high-profile anti-White hate-hoaxer will, naturally, encourage more hate-hoaxe(r)s.Are you willing to dismiss all of them as "stupid publicity stunts where nobody is harmed"? What about the ones to come which will be less easy to unravel than Jussie's preposterous, Dumb-and-Dumber-esque plot and bumbled execution? The people who have written that Jussie, and niw these prosecutors who let him off the hook, have fanned the flames of race war, are too far over the line into hyperbole. How many hate hoaxes would it take until a few hotheads on the margins of both sides decide to take revenge in a very real way...?
a stupid publicity stunt where nobody was harmed
Mullett was willing to sign complaints against the two people CPD told him they had in custody until he realized it was his Nigerian pals. Thus he was perfectly willing to frame two random white guys had that been who CPD had in custody.
It’s not worth sending someone to jail over a stupid publicity stunt where nobody was harmed.
I wonder if she ever consulted actual native Americans about the idea.
I once had a conversation with an officer of the Ojibwa tribe who railed against government handouts. When I asked about his marrying a Caucasian, he said “believe me, Mike, you don’t want to marry someone who’s been on welfare their whole life”.
I’ll buck the trend here and try to offer some kind advice to a guy who’s obviously very young and very naive:
1 . Make a public statement that what you did was inexcusable, period. (don’t say anything about real violence against gays and blacks, don’t say you were high or sleepy or that your intentions were noble).
2 Negotiate a plea with the state’s attorney so you don’t do any jail time, and give a nice fat donation to the police and maybe to some noncontroversial Chicago charity.
3 Ask Robin Roberts for a second interview where she can ask you the hard questions that she didn’t ask you the first time. When she grills you and says how betrayed she feels, take it like a man. Say “I painted myself into a corner and I just didn’t know how to get myself out. I’m sorry.”
4. Avoid making any political or social justice statements, for a long, long, long time. You have zero credibility, dude. Focus on your work, if you still have a job.
I’d say C but who the hell knows? None of this makes sense. Gay bashers don’t hang out in Streeterville, much less at 2a.m. when it’s 7 degrees out. And I don’t think anyone within 50 miles of Chicago would ever call it MAGA country.
This clip reminds me of something I heard long ago (from a gay guy):
“gay men are gay because they love men , lesbians are gay because they hate men.”
To be honest, though, the lesbians I’ve actually met don’t seem to be man-haters.
Kavanaugh withdraws himself from consideration for the post, with a short simple statement maintaining his innocence but acknowledging it would be best for the country to move past all this ugliness.

Asian Americans as a whole earn more than any racial category in the United States. But when educational attainment is factored in, Asian Americans still make less than White Americans. White American men with a bachelor’s degree earn $72,599 on average, while Asian American men with the same degree make $56,921. Though the disparity is smaller between white women and Asian American women, there still exists an income disparity that ranges up to $4,000 when looking at various educational levels.
I can see why Indians edge out the rest. In my experience as an IT geek (plenty of asians of all stripes), the Indians had the best networking. Indian managers took care of their own.
When my division shut down, most who found jobs elsewhere in the company were Indian, suspiciously hired by other Indians.
Not necessarily a bad thing, just shows all ethnicities should pay more attention to networking.
Yes, hair extensions. I’m amazed at the clearly poor blacks I see who seem to spend a lot on their hair.
Ha, I just googled black hair extensions to get an idea of their cost… While I was reading an article on that very subject, a CADILLAC ad popped up!
I assume Steve is asking for someone who was at this anti-bias session to tell us all what we missed. I can’t help, I don’t work there.
But I did check out Starbucks’ “preview” video.

It’s really cringeworthy. Come on, guys, instead of trying to use touchy-feely crap to force these unfortunate employees to “share” their feelings and experiences, just tell them, “follow these company guidelines on how to treat customers. If you don’t want to follow them, quit. Any questions on how you should handle a specific situation call this helpline. That’s all, go home.”

The fuck was that? I mean, seriously. I was actually hoping this would be an informative and interesting training, but all it was was Starbucks covering their asses by equating cringey slogans and buzzwords with an actual effort to show customers that we hear and respect them and want to do everything in our power to make them feel safe and welcome. "Color brave." I fucking can't, guys...

They told us that if we saw two customers come in at the same time one of them black and one of them white, we must serve the black person first.
Bullshit.
I am 100% serious. I was a bit afraid to object though (we all were). Try it yourself, you'll see that I'm not pulling your leg. I wish I were joking.
I would of objected the shit out of it...
I'd rather keep my job. I am not going to get involved with all these retarded social issues.
The way I was raised, it’s very rude to tell anyone to shut up. I don’t mind reading ignorant speculation, the truth eventually comes out in most cases.
But thanks for the interesting technical explanation. I never knew there was such a thing as fake cable stays, and I’m amazed no articles I’ve read about this bridge mentioned that aspect of the design.
If like many others you don’t know what you’re talking about, and are just trolling: well done, sir!
If I had been at that executive meeting, I would have said, fire the jerk. If he’s got major problems with something we consider core corporate policy, tell him to find an employer closer to his values.
And that’s what I would tell the public. NOT this nonsense about hurtful remarks, implying that women have fragile egos that need special care and coddling from upper management.
