RSSLarry David isn’t actually 37% American Indian. That’s a testing artifact that Megan Smolenyak addressed in this article:
Autosomal tests offered today are based on dense, genome-wide scans which allow us to investigate combinations of multiple SNPs – and that leads to my one quibble with what Lopez Tonight is doing. They’re using outdated testing (based on individual SNPs)…
When Larry David responded as if his 37 percent Native American results were a joke, his instincts were correct. The best known quirk of the test Lopez Tonight is using is its problem distinguishing between Asian and Native American (understandable, given that if you go back far enough, Native Americans originate from Asia), but a lesser known quirk is its tendency to assign Native American percentages to many of Iberian, Italian and Ashkenazi heritage – and Larry David is Ashkenazi.
Wasn’t this more of an ice storm than a snow storm? Ice storms can cause major traffic problems.
It is not all Israeli Jews who demonstrate high fertility, but the Orthodox and ultra-Orthodox. Can you show that they are happier than the other Jews? And if that is the case, it is worrying because it is based on a religious delusion.
Since today’s Semitic immigrants are primarily a feature of life in Western Europe, I’ll ask what you know about pre-War German and French Jewry to compare the problems created by the two groups. Many of those French and German Jews were hyper-assimilated. Nominal conversion to Christianity for social reasons and intermarriage were not uncommon. Strict observation of dietary laws was rare outside of the Orthodox minority, and German Jewish families often kept Christmas trees in their homes. The poorer, more religious, more tribal and less assimilated Jews that you are thinking about lived in Eastern Europe.
Did the Orthodox wife’s high-powered career require a lengthy high-powered education? Do the parents have similar expectations of success for their children? Paying for the higher education of that gaggle of kids may diminish the parents’ enthusiasm for their large family. The kids, if they aren’t able to achieve material success, may choose not to burden themselves with as many children. The ultra-Orthodox are more willing than the modern Orthodox to endure poverty for the sake of large families, but I suspect that even they have their limits.
And what about those who are involuntarily celibate thanks to female hypergamy? Should they be forced to mate with gender feminist orcas?
The religion can’t have been the only factor important in the development of high IQ among the Ashkenazim or the other groups of Jews (Sephardim, Mizrahim) would also demonstrate high average IQ’s.
Reduced cost of living would boost fertility among every segment of the population, including those of low IQ. There will have to be stronger incentives to reduce dysgenic breeding. But for the really future oriented among the high-IQ population, why would they want to produce intelligent children who could still fall into the underclass due to the expanding role of automation technology?
Besides, if it were genetic, how could it’ve increased ~2x inside two
generations?
There could still be a genetic predisposition for degree of response to the differences in environmental stimuli between the rural and urban Chinese.
