Hibernian handled the gay thing but I would add that of course the majority of what was happening was heterosexual because the majority then as now was heterosexual. But everything from the Mattachine society to pop tv like All in The Family was trying to get gay rights, transvestitism, etc. off the ground.

No, college men aren’t really getting free sex. They may “say” they are, but based on stats and reports, young people are actually having less sex in general. What’s happening is the young men at the top of the heap are getting more and more, but the average man is getting less and less. It’s fascinating really. There’s an image of college as some sort of free for all, but it’s a bit of an apex fallacy. Now if you straight up ask young men if they are sexual failures of course they’ll say no, but in the anonymity of studies or the Internet, more and more men are being left behind.

The black community is different, the issue there isn’t so much men abandoning their children so much as women kicking them out and the state can’t squeeze blood from a stone if a man doesn’t have a job.

Just a niggle at what you’re saying…

No young men aren’t getting “free sex” what gave you that idea? Also if “Mr. Right” abandons her and the kids (which the odds are against), most states will absolutely go to the mattresses to make sure he provides financial support, some states will even throw him in jail on the weekends if he fails to make enough money. Not saying there aren’t serious risks to mitigate, of course.

Also, the 60s sexual revolution absolutely went hand-in-glove with the gay rights movement, feminism, sexual fads, etc. They weren’t “exuberantly embracing biology”, as if they were pioneers who discovered people like sex! They were the first though to embrace a fantasy of consequence free sex, which is clearly insane. They also pioneered the idea of “youth rebellion” as a normal, natural phenomenon, as if it’s natural for young people to automatically hate their parents, hate their history, refuse to listen to anyone over 30 as the saying went, and abandon religion.

You’re right about a lot of what you say, and as much as I hate that it’s so necessary, women do need to be far more prepared for an economically harsh world. I also hate that those “rewarding careers” are almost totally certain to be way more meaningless in the long term than raising one child to be happy, wise, good, and strong. Shoot they’re usually more meaningless and less fulfilling in the short term. Who told us that being an HR Specialist III at GloboCorp was a more meaningful life, than producing new human life?
