RSSIt’s been legal for a long time in Georgia, even before permits, when no one could carry concealed, that anyone who could legally own a gun could carry in their car. Years ago, you could carry in your car but not concealed. A friend’s father-in-law was police chief in a mid-sized Georgia town. He said he’d rather stop a car with a gun illegally in the glove compartment than on the seat beside the driver. Still, now, you don’t need a permit to carry in your car. I’ve been stopped for traffic violations a couple of times and told the officer that I had a gun in the glove compartment. There was no reaction beyond a small nod and I wasn’t asked to see my permit.
I grew up in suburban Atlanta in the 50’s and 60’s. It was a great place to grow up. I could cry.
Read Stephen Coonts's, "Freedom's Last Stand".
Barry declares martial law and Texas secedes. It settles out pretty much as you say. I can't say much else without giving away the fun.
As an Atlanta native, I could just cry at what has happened to Atlanta and Georgia. What a great place Atlanta was in the 50's and into the 60's.
This is the story of our thirty years residence in Gwinnett County, Ga and it has only progressed in the fourteen years since we left.
Snellville is in Gwinnett County where Blacks once feared to go. We left there about fifteen years ago when the diversity of all kinds had become overwhelming. Lawrenceville Wal-Mart and Autozone had become almost Spanish first – not to mention African-Americans, African-Africans and all kinds of East Europeans. Gwinnett is the only (first) county in Georgia to require ballots in Spanish.
Currently we live in a large majority White, large majority Republican county which is one of the fastest growing in the state. Recently, in the tax commissioner's office I overheard a conversation between the tax commissioner and an elderly man where the man was saying he hoped the county's character wouldn't change. Fat chance. The growth will be corporate migrants who don't like the South and don't like Southerners. They'll spend all their time complaining about it not being like where they came from and wondering where is that Southern Hospitality they've heard about. And…voting Democrat.
My son lived in the historical area of Memphis for a couple of years. He loved it there but he says the area where White people could live relatively safely has grown constantly smaller and attacks are now taking place outside what have been "no-go" zones.
