I don’t think money has much to do with it, although Columbia students are not broke, presumably. What we are seeing is followers of an ideology or even a religion who will not accept reality as it truly is. It reminds me of the attractive Scandinavian girls who went camping in Morocco. What could go wrong? I sometimes think that they have this belief in faith or something like that. Like they believe if they send out no racist emanations, no harm will come to them. Or that they truly believe the media that one should only be on the watch out for Neo-Nazi skinheads or something of that nature. It’s crazy.
When I look at what people believe today, and how foolishly they give their lives away, I can only think about the religious upheavals in Europa from the Hussites to the Counter-Reformation. It is mass-insanity.
Harlem needs all the goodwill it can get. Believe in Harlem!
Some students said they were worried less about their own safety than about the attack being used to portray Harlem as unsafe.
It's people who just plucked their beliefs from out of thin air, or because someone told them that's the way the world is supposed to be. Thus has it ever been. The culture now laughs at people who believe that God made the world and everything in it in six days, and that Noah loaded all the animals on a big boat and saved them from a global flood.

I'd like to introduce a note of reality into the proceedings. New York City (and the United States in general) is objectively safer than it was back-in-the-day. Aside from questions of marking turf, I think most 40 year olds--black, white, other-- are often surprised at the way that young people today do NOT take the risk of crime into account when going about their business. It is strange to us, but natural to them. Our expectations and habits were shaped by a much higher-crime environment. We or friends and relatives were mugged. We were eyeballed and menaced by violent criminals on a regular basis. We were, on a regular basis, unsafe. Today's young people do not have that body of experience. I had this realization during the Covington Catholic drama. That kid showed no trace of awareness that the situation he was in--first with the Black Isrealites, then with the Little Drummer Boy--could go tragically wrong. That's a huge change from when I was 17.So it's not surprising that a 40 year old Harlemite marvels at the fact that 18 year old white girls just walk through the park that he or she remembers as the drug-ridden hellhole that it was in the 90s.Replies: @Paleo Liberal, @Harry Baldwin, @Nachum

Wow, that was an intense read.
This is a selfish thought, but it made me think that I’m glad that I returned to Europe again instead of trying out Vietnam. I’m not permanently ruling it out, but I’m glad I’m trying out Czechia first. As an American, I’m not being chased down because of my citizenship. Those years, if and when they existed, are long past. It would be strange to deal with a totally alien culture and not be able to determine if one was getting taken advantage of emotionally or not. Unlike in Germany, I do not understand the language here, yet, but there are enough racial and cultural similarities that one does not have to speak the language to realize when one is getting taken for a ride. I guess one could get around a lot in a place like Vietnam, but it’s not like scoring broke, gold-digging MILFS is a great achievement in life. I don’t know. Just something about reading that article make me thankful that I’m here and not in Vietnam. Going to Vietnam was a serious option for me up until just a few months ago.
Funny how the worst of the worst always gravitate to that “culture” which originated on the streets of LA and NYC. It doesn’t matter to which country you travel to these days, you can always pick them out by their international dress code.
Man, am I thankful I never got into rap/hip-hop, although it was everywhere in my schools.
And what does that achieve or remedy?
I was about to say, albeit much less eloquently.
I worked for 5 years in one of the biggest English schools on the east coast, The English Language Institute at The University of Delaware. Over 50% of the students were east Asian. I made friends with many and was acquainted with even more. Through Facebook, WeChat, and personal contact, it was amazing to see the change that would occur after we packed them off to freshmen year in the dorms. I don’t mean they became drunken one-night-stand queens so typical at today’s universities (they probably did that amongst themselves), but how suddenly all of the “woke” proclamations that are all but required to be shared/liked on social media today started popping up. Things like Sex Positive 3 Wave Feminist Bisexual. It was crazy as I had met them days after they arrived.
Isn’t “The nail that sticks out gets beat down with the hammer” an Asian saying? I also think that this is just Asian behavior. This is what the system or authorities teach, so it must be true. That being said, I still don’t like it.
Taiwanese and Bangladeshis… that is about as useful as comparing say Norwegians and Roma because both come from Europe. I think she’s playing a joke on us. I doubt any east Asian considers those people to be their equals.
I think what you’re seeing here is the desire to fit in. Asians, in the American sense of the word, excel at that. They learn very quickly what speech, mannerisms, and ideas are accepted, and which aren’t. I used to work around 1000’s of them in an academic setting, and it was amazing to see the difference that occurred after being off the boat for a few years made. The nail that sticks out gets beat with the hammer and all that.
You know it’s funny, but in Germany, you can almost track the problem foreigners in Germany by the last 40 years of so of American/Israeli policy. You just need to know nationality, age, and time and country, and you have a good idea of what was going on if you know you’re recent Mideast history.
Cheap German bars in the poorer places can be real eye-openers.
An interesting story…
Long ago, well in the 90’s, a few acquaintances and I went to a Denny’s after dark (first mistake). On our way across the parking lot, we were held up and taken hostage and quickly ushered to an area where the garbage bins were behind a strip mall. We were held hostage as they took us one by one to the bank to empty out our bank accounts, well everyone except me, I hid my bank card because I knew I had just deposited a work check, but I had no available funds at the moment. I was 17. So anyway, we survived.
What was funny though, was at first the State Police though we were making it all up! We were all saying WHAT? The whole ordeal lasted several hours, and we thinking, “yeah, we’re out here at 3 in morning making up stories about being held hostage and robbed! ” After footage from the ATM was produced the cops believed us. So this thing went to trial. Every time the date came up we would all have to drop everything we were doing and head down to the courthouse and spend all day there only to be told that the date had been postponed. After about 4 or 5 times of this, the DA wanted us to agree to a plea bargain. I was the only one who was against it. I told the DA that if we would have been killed, we would have been just another statistic and the state would provide them a defense that would portray them as downtrodden, poor, aspiring rappers (well maybe that term hadn’t been invented yet; attending a school with bussing in Northern Delaware had already made me aware of the way of the knee grow). I was pretty pissed. Everyone else was tired of traveling 20 miles to the Wilmington, Delaware state court house every couple of weeks to spend all day waiting for nothing. Eventually, I agreed. But basic fact is that the law or the TPTB do not care about you and will not defend you. It is just a system.
If I knew any black people…
I find myself often dreaming about the exact opposite, “If I didn’t know any black people, how wonderful life would be!”
I went to school with them my whole life! Middle school and high school had bussing! It wasn’t until college that they started thinning out, but of course, the American obsession with knee grow athletes meant you still had shucking and jiving at college as well. Everywhere I have lived in the USA is full of knee grows. The last place being in South Carolina just a few miles from my birthplace, Augusta, Georgia. It did seem to me that southern knee grows aren’t as bad as the variety that I knew growing up between Baltimore and Philly on the I-95 Beltway.
The 90% figure might be high, but it is definitely over 50%.
Right now I am in Prague, Czech Republic, and I am loving it. You want to know one of the big attractions here is? NO KNEE GROWS. There is no black part of town.
Smdh… and giving your country to a hostile foreign elite is the path to social paradise? Hey genius, I could probably find 370,000,000 people outside of America who are more intelligent than 99% of America. Do they deserve to replace Americans? Funny, I thought the USA was a country and not a corporation or an elite university.
This post encapsulates everything I hate about Americanism. Americanism is the most poisonous ideology in the world today. “Our people aren’t good enough? F ’em! We’ll replace them with the 3rd world like I replaced my old Nike’s which also come from the 3rd world.” Your post smacks of Boomer conservitism. You people have done just as much to destroy the USA as the left ever has.
“Faith Palileo, 18, said that before she took ethnic studies at Balboa High School in San Francisco, she would often cut class. She considered school a chore, filled with textbook-driven lessons that were irrelevant to her life.
That changed, she said, when she enrolled in American history and ethnic studies classes taught by Nikhil Laud, one of the leaders of San Francisco’s program, which is seen as a model by many across the state.”
So in other words, school really sucked until they made a class that inflated the achievements of my people while telling me to blame my inability to attend class on whitey presumably. Wow. And this portrayed as success. America is going to be a really interesting place in 10 to 20 years.
You wrote that the other day posing as a British woman with two bastard children from an “honorable”, black US soldier.
A man of honor with two bastard children? Sorry, that is not how it works. Sounds like a typical knee grow to me.
