I am a US expat, and happen to live in the China Mainland, and my impression is that most Chinese believe Xi Jinping is doing a great job. What do you care really? Do you have any dogs in this race?

New Tang Dynasty
China Uncensored
There is no doubt in my mind China is a threat to the hegemony of the West. I definitely prefer Western civilization. But if forced to choose between Chung Kuo and Babel 2.0, I’ll take the former every time.
Great article.
Is that “law breaking” chart from Jeff Browns “China Rising” book? The name has changed?

I really enjoyed your articles. I am an expat living in China, married to a Chinese National. I spend much of my free time fighting against the Anti-China rhetoric.
In speaking with a Chinese native, I learned there was a Soviet aspect involved in the China famine, this is what some Chinese are taught in schools. From what I am told, Mao borrowed money from the USSR to fund the fight against the nationalists, and Japan. When the time came for repayment, the USSR Demanded repayment in food items, and there seems to be some evidence that the demands were structured so that there was a deliberate wasting of the food. It was as though the USSR didn’t really need it, but wanted to use up as much of the China food supply as possible. Have you seen any evidence of this in your research?
