To comics readers, or whites anyway, there aren’t a lot of interesting black themes aside from voodoo and Baron Samedi and Uncle Gunnysack sort of tropes, which aren’t sub-Saharan African besides. The 2nd-wave X-Men character Storm could be plugged into a Thor setting without much modification; the protagonist of Spawn turning out to be black was almost irrelevant. Generally the comics tastes of black kids I knew 20 years ago seemed pretty similar to Median Male Teen, but I have wondered if there are characters more popular in a black demo. As part of his hip-hop persona/aesthetic MF Doom made use of a Fantastic Four villain who had always seemed kinda gay to me (a German mad scientist IIRC).
