I agree. Worship of the military is surely modern America's most cringeworthy and repellent aspect. The war hero is the American equivalent of the medieval saint, and you can't even blame the Jews for it. It's clearly a whitey thing. Get a few bullets shot at you by some primitive and soon to be obliterated savages and you can live large on your war stories for the rest of your comfortably pensioned days. The sad thing is that there are no wars for the US military to fight these days except those they create themselves.

America, an exceptionally immature, warlike and stupid nation. And they worship Jesus! Who of course will just laugh when he presses the button and sends them all into the lake of fire without a second thought.

My own conclusion is that Americans are now evenly split on the Iraq war, and that the citizenry now seeing its pointlessness, stupidity, cruelty and expense is what makes our "leaders" hesitant about a war against Iran.

But who knows? Miracles do happen, and we may live long enough to see Cheney, Bush and the neocon chorus clapped in irons and put on trial for crimes against humanity.

But are Russia and Ukraine truly rooted? Both countries societes' were completely reconstructed along Soviet lines, moved en masse from the villages to the cities, they had their old elites destroyed and new ones created to serve "workers paradise".

One Polish commentator said that Polish contemporary society is composed from people that were trying to move from a village to a city, but the city was burned down before they got there and the village ceased to exists. I imagine the same is with Ukrainians and Russians only more so.
