RSSWe have a lot of people in the justice system because we have a pretty sophisticated system of solving crimes such as CCTV, crime labs, extensive fingerprint databases, face recognition technology, etc. We also have a very diverse and sometimes unruly underclass. You really expect me to believe that South Africa, Rhodesia, or Honduras would not have just as high a percentage incarcerated if they caught as many criminals as we do? We caught the Golden State killer with DNA samples from family members in open databases. They doing that in the Congo?
Also, in some of these countries, if caught red handed there is no trial, things are dealt with right on the spot. I am familiar with a gentleman living in Honduras who had a family member assaulted. The police told him best to deal with it himself – meaning kill the guy.
I’d like to see the entire rap sheet for the guy who got a lifetime sentence for stealing a coat.
Remember the song lyrics that run along the lines of ‘ if you don’t decide you still have made a choice’?
I think that applies here. If we had the 3rd choice of None of the Above, and if it wins we redo, then fine, choose that, but as it is you choose b/t a semi conservative agenda that gets heavy opposition in the house, or a full out socialist agenda that tramples 1st and 2nd amendment rights with practically no opposition in a win or be eliminated game. (At least for consevatives)
We would all like to go back in time and whisper in the founders ears as they wrote our founding documents, but we can’t; we have to move forward with poor choices, but still better than the none that socialism provides.
Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say: Governments are in general corrupt? I mean are you suggesting that China doesn’t have blood on its hands? Your accusations are only at the United States in the above. Man is wolf to man, and people in power everywhere seek to gain an advantage. The kind of person who seeks such power tend to be of a type. The meek will inherit the earth? Not in our lifetimes, or any person who has ever lived.
No; it would be more correct to say that evil - just like everything else in the universe - falls somewhere on a spectrum, and the Satanic USraeli Empire is at the extreme end of the spectrum, distinguishing itself as the most evil empire that's ever existed on earth.
"Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say: Governments are in general corrupt?"
All those people who broke protocol and diagnosed Trump mentally unfit for office, doctor or not, seemed entirely partisan. I can diagnose you as a amoral idiot from here, but that doesn’t necessarily mean its true or I don’t have an agenda.
As for free college and nationalizing industries, don’t you know somebody is gonna get rich either way. Should it be the few individuals who took a financial chance and got lucky or the relatives of the socialists in charge. Check the net worth of Castro at the time of his death or who the richest person in Venezuela happens to be. Who had all the dachas in soviet Russia- it sure wasn’t the proletariat.
Free college will make a degree even more useless in many cases than it already has become. I don’t want to pay for anyones education except my children; certainly not your children.
For all Trump’s faults, he is holding the line against the total breakdown of what is left of our freedom. Without supremes that will adhere to the constitution as written, liberal judges will continue their long tradition of changing law to what they think it should be right this instant. Which, of course, means more top down, command and control government. Nationalization? No thanks.
I was in high school when the #1 came out, and remember that the theme – young hero who does not know his true identity – had not been around and done hundreds of times. For those of you below the age of forty who look at the Netflix lineup where every other movie is a retired professional hitman drawn out of retirment for one last job, or to defend his family(literally hundreds of films), this seemed pretty new back then. Remember, this was before Alien also pre Terminator, pre The Thing. Before that we had what; Star Trek, and Lost in Space? I can name a few others(UFO), but none inspiring.
Empire was good, but goodness, Ewoks next? How about the walker hit by two trees; it not only collapses – it explodes! If you are a storm trooper wouldn’t you be saying, I’m not getting anywhere near that death trap. By the time the prequels were done I was rooting for the Empire.
That said; as excited as I could be at my age for a reboot that might do justice to the original, any scorn heaped on these 3 is warranted. Just a couple of things not mentioned by other reviews I have read: After the Band Gets Back Together we learn that they have just 16 hours until the fleet is released. Did I hear that right? 16 hours? Earth hours? Then they leap across the universe multiple times in what must be nanoseconds while time stands still, and survive I don’t know how many fatal crashes from space at high speeds that should have killed every single soul, and walk away without a scratch. My daughter informs me this is science fantasy not science fiction – so there. Ok, now I also liked this one: Fin and that asian chick blow up a star destroyer after charging across it on animals(disclaimer: no CGI animals were hurt during the making of this atrocity), and as the SPACE SHIP begins to tip over and they are sliding down the edge as it blows up and gets prepared to crash in a million pieces, they are conveniently picked right up unharmed. Really? I shoulda quit after Empire.
My parents came to SA in 1965 – I am South African – I can get a British passport but my children have paid a lot of money trying to get one and they were declined and lost all the money.
Even if that photo here is accurate, remove the blonde wig/dye job and Beyonce is still not as light as her creole mother.
Perhaps Beyonce is closer to her mother as is usually the case, and she doesn't want to betray that heritage.
