Then you’ve obviously never been a chronic pain victim. As a fibromyalgia patient I can tell you the pain can be devastating, to the point where you wonder if death isn’t a more attractive alternative. Pain meds give you some quality of life, and addiction is a moot point until there is a cure for my disease, because the pain isn’t going away. EVER. Am I happy about this? No, but it’s the hand I’ve been dealt.

I am 100% for homeschooling my children (and I’m a public school teacher). Too bad the govt has allowed corporations to steal from the very employees that keep it running. Lack of fair pay, overtime, benefits, and removal of pensions are all prime examples of this theft. How many households (outside of your DC bubble of million dollar incomes) do you see that can afford to live on the salary of one? Nice try trashing education once again. No different than all the other politicians who want to blame the public schools for providing a poor education. How about the people passing the poor laws and mandates actually take responsibility when they crash and burn. Public schools are only following the laws created by Washington, yet we are the ones to blame for the poor outcome.

He doesn't have great arm strength but has has great accuracy and timing and his height gives him a great view of the field and his release point is high so hard to knock down his passes. Late this afternoon when I had to go to the mailbox place to sent out a letter to the IRS about my last year's taxes – THEY sent me a letter that says, "we have located your 2011 taxes." Then they sent me a $5,138. Refund. I knew it wasn't mine. I called them – they said, "It is probably a mistake and meant for someone else with th same name you have. Send the check back to us within 21 days or you'll end up with a penalty AND you'll have to pay interest." WT? Their mistake I pay…

No matter. Pulled my avalanche into a spot and went around the car to get the Baby. The wind blew my truck door in to the burgundy Caddy parked next to me, and don,t you know, the woman in the passenger's seat leapt out of the car to inspect for damages. Come to think of it, the wig looks a lot like the one Michelle wears.

The woman was all hostile and right there to ask me if I did any damage to her "boyfriend's" car. I moved the door a few inches and said, "Nope. And, oops." I lied. Tonight I don't feel bad about it at all. Probably won't feel bad tomorrow or the next day, either…

Already on the pos's fb page he has his family saying he is innocent. I clicked on his brother's page and ther are a half a dozen sisters. None of them have the same last name (yeah – what a surprise!). There are some people over on his page that are reporting it for "abuse." It will be shut down.

We can all see he's well educated… You just know he would have been headed to MIT in six or seven years when he finally got out of high school.

To witness your child being murdered is not even something I can fathom. Friends – and even my own family members think I am being paranoid when I refuse to acknowledge that there are "good" blacks out there. We are building a house and one of the electrician's that gave us a quote is black. Told my husband no way was he getting the job, and he didn't. My mother and sister were disgusted by my doing so based solely on skin color. Highly doubt that even this story about an innocent little 13-month-old baby being murdered will wake them up.

Slightly off topic, but also kind of on topic: My one and only Grandson goes to a Church Preschool. There is one black girl in his class. Was able to proudly decline the invite to her birthday party. Just N O! Probably with Grandson is going to be his cousin who is half black. The Baby Daddy has three other children with two other black women – and was living with one of them when Grandson's aunt couldn't keep her legs closed for him. Baby Daddy wants nothing to do with his fourth child – Grandson's ONLY cousin. And, the aunt continues to look for her next – ah hem – groid boyfriend via some site called "Meet Me" on facebook. It posts all the guys that she is trying to hook up with, and being in the Charlotte area, there is no shortage of them. Sickening. The aunt and cousin live with my DIL's Mom – and DIL spends way too much time with her Mom and sister – and the cousin – for my liking. What can you do…

Totally Off Topic… As if spending Memorial Day weekend at Myrtle Beach, during bbw wasn't enough for us, today someone tried to steal our laptop at the airport. Guess what color the woman was?! One guess!!! I have a name for them, and it isn't very nice. I call them "DFn's." When my husband said, "Hey, wait – that's MY laptop," she said, "Oh. I thought it was my friend's." B U L L $ H I T you did. You knew dayum well that it was OUR laptop! She said, "The case is the same." Ut uh, it is NOT! Our's is an old Dell case, with a mismatched strap from another bag. The case has a torn pocket and the strap is blue. What are the chances that "your friend's" looks EXACTLY like ours?!? I wanted to make a scene. Hubby wouldn't let me. And, by the time I even found someone – a TSA rent-a-cop – the DFn was gone!!! Angry? An understatement. Thanks for letting me vent for a minute or two. Seriously. When is IT going to stop?!?

Off topic… Trip to Myrtle Beach for the weekend was not as awful as it could have been. I was nanoseconds away from canceling. We were in North Myrtle Beach and although there were a few bikers there – they were mostly with families – including their children. [NOT an event children should be subjected to, in my opinion.] We were not near the "trouble." Saw a gazillion bikes at Hooters one night on the way to a sports bar after dinner [Overtime] so the guys could watch a pay-per-view fight, but we were the majority, at that venue. Thankfully. The condo we stayed at was managed 24/7, and the woman who was doing check-in at the swimming pool told me that they did NOT and would not put up with any crap and told me that if I had a problem, no matter how small, that I should immediately report it. She went so far as to give one of the black boys playing in the pool with a super-soaker the evil stink eye when he aimed his soaker at his sister who was outside the pool – I'm guessing he didn't do it a second time. She meant business. Saw some sights on the beach – big, big women, in teeny tiny bathing suits [many could be Lonneshia's twin sisters] and lots of tramp stamps covering LARGE portions of their bodies. I don't mean the typical tramp stamp, either, but entire thighs covered, and arms and backs. A lot of "uppityness" from them was the vibe on the beach [but I could be wrong and perhaps I'm confusing uppityness with jealousy? no – NOT on my part – on theirs – white women with long blonde hair and long legs get looked before Lonneshia-look-a-likes]. I will never be able to convince the half of the group that was with us that "they" are NOT like us. And, not for my lack of trying. On Sunday afternoon my husband didn't tell me that he was going, but most of the guys went to Hooters. I didn't learn about it until after the fact – or there would have been a scene, and I would have caused it. One of the men with us said, "We sat next to 'them' and we even talked to 'them,' and you know what? They are people just like us." Oh, he is SOOOO wrong. As we were leaving yesterday afternoon, traffic was a nightmare. The police were out in full force [thank you!], and I did not see a single white person pulled over. It gave me just a small piece of satisfaction, somehow. There were very, very few of "them" at the restaurants we chose [Greg Norman's, Umberto's, and T-Bonz], but I did notice that white servers were the minority… No doubt, the black servers we had at two of the restaurants were thankful that they had a group of middle-class middle-aged white people – we tipped well. Would I go again? Knowingly, to Myrtle Beach during black bike week? Not a chance. Why put myself in that type of situation? Nope. Never again. I have made a terrible, HUGE mistake. A whole group of us [well, ten of us] are headed for Myrtle Beach for the weekend. Yes, our LITTLE group is white. Today, I realized that it is Black Bike Week. My husband is not going to let us cancel – we've paid for it. I say take the loss. I DO NOT WANT TO GO. There are 400,000 – 500,000 black bikers expected. Nervous? That would be an understatement. If not for SBPDL and AmRen and a few other sites, I would be clueless as to what is happening with regard to black on white violence. But, as I am aware, this weekend and the situation has me quite upset. I sent an e-mail to the group of people going and got a response, "Now we will know what it is like to be a minority." Is it possible that a group of ten middle-aged white people can be safe in such a large crowd of black bikers if we keep our mouths SHUT and remain very, very quietly in the far edges of the background? What the HELL were WE thinking?!?

You talk a big game, sir. However, I challenge you to come teach my ninth grade English class for a month. Being a teacher not only requires intelligence, of which you seem to think mine is mediocre at best, but also the ability to juggle several tasks at once, infinite patience, mothering, counseling teenagers who are crying in the middle of class because the boy they like doesn't like them, keeping your cool when a kid swears at you in front of the class because you ask him to take out a pencil, completing hours of paperwork for students with disibilities, behavior problems, or who need recommendation forms, laughing instead of beating your head against the wall when a student asks you a question you've already answered three times, and ultimately, keeping a sense of humor about the whole thing when you continue to work hours into the night and a person who has never taught in his life accuses you of being inadequate. It is easy to judge from your high horse, I suppose, if you've never actually taught. But we do the job because we like it, and because, quite frankly, we are good at it. You, I would venture to guess, wouldn't last two weeks. Perhaps think twice before you make uninformed judgements based on a bit of research you completed.

There is a hip hop artist from Minneapolis called Brother Ali who is albino. When he didn’t talk about his race people assumed he was black. But he summed up the reality succinctly: “I’m albino, my family is white, but I was really raised, and taught my important life lessons, by the black community.”
With no other knowledge about his race other than his music, people thought he was black. That says something about our expectations about musicians.

Razib, if your grandfather was related to his aunt via a woman (ie, if the aunt was his mother’s sister), then the two of them had the same mitochondrial genes. If, however, the aunt was his *father’s* sister, then no dice. Either way, *you* don’t have the same mitochondria unless you got them somewhere else (say, if your grandfather married his sister).
