Out of a rifle 22mag will penetrate a 4×4 lumber – I’ve seen it.

I agree that .22 lr or .22 mag usually do the job. My only problem with teh NAA is low capacity, hard to reload and very hard to shoot – particularly if you have medium to large hands. I think an double action revolver or small pocket pistol is better if you’re going to use .22. THese crowds of protestors – I think you need to have higher ammo capacity.

The .22 WMR unfortunately doesn’t get much more velocity out of a short barrel than the .22lr – a lot of unburned powder. Barrell on those NAAs is only 1-1/8 inch. But it makes a hell of fireball and bang!

Agreed but those derringers (e.g. Bond Arms) chambered in heavier, center fire calibers aren’t very small or light. At that point you might as well go with a small autoloader pistol or a J-frame revolver in .38.

I have the cheaper Taurus clone of the Beretta 21a bobcat. It’s really easy to carry (no problem carrying in gym shorts for example). But I’m not a great shot and those little pocket pistols are hard to shoot accurately except at point blank range. The “compacts” e.g. glock 19 are much easier to shoot than the tiny “subcompact” pocket pistols.

I’m also one of those guys who believes that in 99% of real world situations, caliber doesn’t matter much. But I wouldn’t want to go up against an angry crowd with only 5 rounds and a gun that’s almost impossible to reload quickly.

I was looking for .22 magnum – it’s gone WAY up – more in relative terms than any other. I think it’s a popular prepper ammo and not made in nearly as large of quantities as .22 lr.

Ammo (almost all calibers) is very easy to find online. But you’ll pay a lot (including shipping). Sometimes they only let you buy one box so the shipping is almost as much as the ammo.

RE: south asians and fat storage. There’s a theory that type 2 diabetes is a function of limits to fat storage. When personal fat storage threshold is exceeded, excess energy “spills” into the system – this is associated with T2 diabetes.

My understanding is South Asians typically can only store a limited amount of fat. On a bad diet, they gain 30 pounds or so and then become diabetic. Low fat storage threshold. I”m sure there are examples but I can’t think of many fat South Asians. I have seen fat North East Asians (orientals).

Climates don’t exist because there’s no clear boundary between different regions in terms of temperature, humidity, precipitation. There’s no meaningful differences between arctic desert and humid tropical.
