The Wuhan Coronavirus epidemic of 2019-20 is moving many markers where life merges into death, where truth merges into lies. At age 34, Dr. Li Wenliang drew attention in Wuhan to these moving markers. The disease Dr. Li sought to warn against ended up taking his life as the epidemic gained fatal traction. Before going...

    @Godfree Roberts

Thanks for the interventions Godfree. Nathan Rich's videos seem aimed at putting a positive spin on the policies and actions of the Chinese Communist Party. That's fine but his commentary in no way deals with the perspectives brought forward by, for instance, Miles Guo. Billionaire Guo accuses the CCP of having a role in the inception of COVID-19, not just in responding to the new virus that was supposedly created through an act of God. Nathan Rich might try explaining not only the block on Facebook in China but the nature of the larger Internet firewall.

I look at the treatment of Dr. Li who was reprimanded for refusing to go along with the CCP denial of the Novel Coronavirus's existence. The attack on Dr. Li as a Chinese version of a "conspiracy theorist," when he was in fact a whistle blower, speaks to me of similar patterns I perceive in the West. Dr. Li is a symbol of the assault on free expression on both China and the so-called West.

There is reason, as you note, to consider the possible role of the US in driving the original bioweapon attack in Wuhan. There is also lots of possibility that there are different agendas of sabotage that have been mounted, some working in common cause and maybe some working a cross-purposes. Elites in US and China are so intertwined that the nature of the dirty tricks, if dirty tricks have been taking place, might be far more complex that a simple nation vs nation conflict with one aggressor only.

Its time for the global public to demand some accountability from those that make, test and deploy bioweapons. Stop playing so fast and loose with our health, with our lives and with our deaths. Cease and desist. And stop the cover up. There is much malfeasance which must be addressed, including by insisting on some UN enforcement and arbitration concerning the Biological Warfare Convention

Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research

An experiment that created a hybrid version of a bat coronavirus — one related to the virus that causes SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) — has triggered renewed debate over whether engineering lab variants of viruses with possible pandemic potential is worth the risks.

Certainly the brand USA is still alive. But what’s left of the 1776 political experiment is the addition of vectors of powers – racial, ethnic, financial, cultural etc. Whatever’s this vector sum, it doesn’t yield a ‘res publica‘ as in common good, you need in order to call it a nation. Yes, you may come up with some emotionally charged BS about US greatness and everyone else’s bias and ignorance. But the truth is that you have no idea who is running the so called “USA”, who is making decision of life and death in the name of Americans.

  • @mark green
Insightful article. The time has come however to break free from the stifling matrix of 'anti-Semitism'. The term itself is distorting, manipulative, and misleading. Yet even Philip Giraldi exhibits a belief in this phantom hobgoblin. Am I wrong about this, Philip?

Giraldi's delicate use of this toxic term indicates that he actually considers 'anti-Semitism' to be some kind of sin. A mental illness, perhaps?

But does 'anti-Semitism' actually identify a unique strain of morally-depravity?--a unique propensity to injure and kill?

No, it does not. That is a politicized fabrication.

This is not to say that one who holds a fanatical grudge against Jews (or any particular individual, nation or group) cannot be unhinged and act way overboard about it--but every case must be based on its unique merits, history and complaints.

Analyze, measure, and judge. Without favoritism. Yet that reasonable formula has been tossed aside.

Indeed, no tribe, race, or nation has a monopoly on vice or virtue. But anti-Semitic theory would have us believe otherwise.

What's been cooked-up (due to the partisan efforts of Jewish theorists from Freud to Adorno to Marcuse) is a pseudo-science that designates outbursts directed towards Jews as a mental disorder, born from mental defects tied to hidden urges, family conflicts, economic insecurity, and sexual neuroses.

'Anti-Semitic theory' is a scientific fraud. Its purpose is to automatically elevate Jews and exonerate the Tribe from facing the actual details of their myriad conflicts. It attempts to:

    1) pathologize gentile aversion to Jewish in-group/out-group behavior, and

    2) insulate Jews from outside (non-Jewish) criticism since expressions of disdain for Jewish conduct ('anti-Semitism') is supposedly derived not from the actual conflicts, but from prejudicial beliefs and irrational impulses held by gentiles.

The top-down, self-serving, all-kosher theory of 'anti-Semitism' is both a smear as well as a Get Out of Jail card for this privileged clique. It is further designed to silence the accused (non-Jews who dare to speak out) while providing political cover for Jewish-engineered disruptions and political upheavals.

This is why the very term 'anti-Semitism' should be junked. It provides undue protection for worldwide Zio-Jewish malfeasance.

Besides, what does 'anti-Semitism' even describe?--a hater of Semites?--or a hater of Jews?

Curiously, 'anti-Semitism' has contains no opposite. There's no such thing as 'pro-Semitism'. Indeed, 'Semitism' itself is not a unifying or active political force whatsoever (though Zio-Jewishness certainly is.) This leaves us with a deliberately nebulous term but a handy weapon.

A more honest title for the misnamed charade of 'anti-Semitism' might be this:

'How to Use Fake History and Media Indoctrination to Silence the Goyim'.

As for Semitic peoples, the case could be made that haters of non-JewishSemites constitute a high percentage of America's ruling class. Just take a historic look backwards.

Measure the destructiveness of US Mideast policies towards non-Jewish Semites over the past half century. The body count is astronomical. And contrary to what's advertised, many of Zio-America's destructive policies have targeted 'Semitic' Christians as well as Muslims. This fact illustrates the stark--though unrecognized--political divide (and preferential treatment) that exists in America between Semitic groups. One group is entirely and consistently more equal than others. What does this tell you?

Dialogue is a two-way street. Yet organized Jewry (this includes America's MSM) is hyper-miserly in this regard. Jewish leaders bristle at outside criticism. Their watchdog groups (with essential help from America's MSM) circulate the deceptive and defamatory term 'anti-Semitism' to defame, shame and silence their critics. This strategy works.

Meanwhile, they demand for themselves the right to dissect, demean, defame, and demote the reputation of their adversaries--without shame or cost.

Incredibly, government-sanctioned 'anti-Semitism' is actually official policy--just so long as it does not adversely affect Jews. That is key.

The US has, in fact. killed as many as one million (non-Jewish) Semites over the past two decades. Yet no one calls this organized mass murder 'anti-Semitism'. Why?

Anti-Semitism is actually all about one thing and one thing only: Jewish comfort and security. But the guardians of Jewish privilege refuse to acknowledge this fact, so they resort to linguistic tricks. Incredibly, the world's foremost 'victims' are also the world's foremost victimizers.

It should also be stated that 'Anti-Semitism' presents no clear and present danger to public order, human 'goodness' (?), or even Jewish safety--since dialogue, compassion, compromise and goodwill are always potent remedies. Indeed, the conundrum of 'anti-Semitism' has been accurately described as: "[A] trick. We (Jews) always use it". An Israeli lawmaker who appeared on Amy Goodman's 'Democracy NOW' made this admission. It is certainly true.

It is therefore time then to retire the tendentious, 'Holocaust'-linked term 'anti-Semitism' and substitute something more balanced, neutral and accurate.

'Counter-Jewish' is straightforward and clear, as is 'Jew-averse' or 'Jew-wary'.

In any case, 'anti-Semitism' is not only a deliberately misnamed phenomenon, it deliberately ignores a far greater pathogen; namely, America's abject surrender to a foreign power.

Solzhenitsyn converted into a Russian patriot only late in life. During his American exile, he became the main source of the anti-Soviet propaganda that swept through the West in the 70’s and the 80s. He also called for nuking the USSR (Russia). No less!
There is no bigger liar than the indignant man, wrote Nietzsche.
A visceral anti-communist, Solzhenitsyn ended up a vulgar liar, spreading exaggerations and falsehoods regarding his gulag experience and the so called years of Stalinist terror. He’s the one who came up with the original “50 million victims of soviet communism” hoax. Despite the complete lack of historical evidence to support such number, the “50 million” myth is still in circulation today. It’s gleefully thrown around by pretty much everyone. From your garden variety neocon blaming Russia for this and that, to faux-dissidents such as Jordan Peterson and Eric Metaxas, warning us about the evils of totalitarianism.
In the 90s, Solzhenitsyn had enough of western fagotry and decadence. He returned home, repented and asked for forgiveness. He also wrote his opus magnus “200 years together”. Not holding a grudge, mother Russia took back her prodigal son. Putin met him twice and forgave on behalf of Russian people. The damage Solzhenitsyn caused though is still alive and well in the West. And carefully kept so, one may add.

    Replies: @ValMonde, @ValMonde

Solzhenitsyn is one of the patron saint of contemporary Russophobia. Also one of the ideological undertakers of the USSR, whose collapse is still lived by many Russians as a major personal catastrophe.
In the Gulag Archipelago’s first edition, Solzhenitsyn claims that some 66 million Russians were sent to gulags and labor camps by Stalin’s repression apparatus. The historical source he refers to is an article of certain “professor Kourganov”. Kourganov was an obscur Soviet economist, who in 1942 defected to the nazi troops in the occupied part of the USSR and subsequently, made a carrier in the West as an anti-Soviet propagandist.
During a 1973 interview on the Spanish television, Solzhenitsyn doubled down on the bullshit numbers, blaming the Soviet political systems for a total of “110 million deaths”.
Needless to say, the actual numbers of the 1937/38 political repressions were lower by an order of magnitude. By the end of his life, Solzhenitsyn knew that, yet left the numbers in the Archipelago unchanged. See also my answer at # 34.

On the other hand, Solzhenitsyn was Jew-wise and has a book the Western world is not allowed to read as a result. So he couldn’t have been all bad. He also believed that Ukraine and Belarus should have remained in union with Russia.

Wrong guess. Also an unintelligent one. I’m an observant Christian Orthodox.

    Regarding your request for evidence:

    a) is a strawman assertion, so it warrants no response.

    b) I would refer you to the works of Viktor Zemskov, a Russian historian who spent 50 years of his life in various penitentiary, NKVD and ministry of interior’s archives, in an attempt to evaluate the extent and put a number on Stalin’s political repressions. According to the sourced, verified and credible figures I’ve seen, as of January 1st, 1950, the Soviet penitentiary system counted some 2,760,095 prisoners (“К вопросу о масштабах репрессий в СССР”, В. Н. Земсков in Социологические исследования. 1995. № 9. С. 118-127). Compare this with the 2.3 million US penitentiary population today. Without going into details, according to Zemskov, in total and for the entire duration of the Stalin’s reign ( i.e. ~ 30 years), there were ~600,000 political prisoners and ~ 78,000 summary political executions. Sinister as those numbers might be, they don’t even start to measure to Solzhenitsyn’s astronomical numbers. For a comparison, that’s approximately the number of overdose deaths in the US for 2019 (Source: CDC WONDER).

    c) Solzhenitsyn expressed publicly the wish that the US nuke the USSR in a 1975 fiery speech he gave to New York Union workers (if I’m not mistaken). The topic has been discussed on Unz before. Solzhenitsyn idolaters and denialists typically claim that since it was not an open exhortation, he should be given the benefit of the doubt. In fact, he used a more efficient device: a rhetorical question. In substance, to illicit action he asked are you going to wait until the Soviets bomb you or are you going to bomb them first?
Everyone present at that speech understood immediately what he was talking about. The press reported it the next day. He realized he had gone too far, so he quickly backpedaled:
“My God, I was not calling for war, the US press distorted it…”(The New World, 1999, N 2, p. 83).

I am having a difficult time trying to understand Andrei Martyanov's viewpoints as a military historian myself.

For example, having read part of his "Revolution in Military Affairs" book and found the his discussion of the "Thucydides Trap" rather overdone to the point of incomprehension as well as that it does not actually apply to the United States in terms of its penchant war.

This is not to say that the US does not like to engage in conflict but it does so for a variety of reasons that have little to do with the "Thucydides Trap".

To begin with, the US' penchant for expansion had its initial lust for violence soon after the American Revolution had completed, which was soon followed up with its conflicts with the push of American Indians westward until they eventually surrendered to their fates as a result of sociological exhaustion let alone the physical deprivations fostered upon them.

The Mexican-American War in 1844 was our first big conflict with the intervening War of 1812, which may have been actually provoked by the British. In 1898, FDR started the Spanish-American War strictly for imperialistic reasons while he was the Undersecretary for The Navy.

And with the turning of the century, the rest is history, practically none of which can be directly related to the "Thucydides Trap" in terms of motivation. This is not to say that the Bush II Administration did not set the stage for a "Thucydides Trap" style of motivation. However, there was a long foundation being built prior to the Bush Doctrine that led to the "Thucydides Trap" as simply being a veneer over everything else.

In another part of his book, Martyanov uses military numerical analysis to determinethe capabilities between the US and other nations. However, his analysis, again, which may or may not be correct, does not take into account the lessor understood traits of American military capabilities such as the over-reliance on hi-tech, which causes an ongoing deterioration in the arts of soldiering. Of course, Hollywood shows us that US military operations are nearly always flawless in their execution.

And the few Martyanov responses I have seen here, which verged on the nasty seems to be a reflection of this person's overconfidence in one's own opinions, which may or may not be correct but in my book, begins to rule out a person's credibility.

There is no doubt that Martyanov's general viewpoints fall into the legitimate category, but one does not need a military analyst's mindset to view them as such.

Nonetheless, as the great philosopher, Yogi Berra once said, "Prediction, especially of the future is highly overrated..."

    Replies: @ValMonde, @Tom Verso

US politicians usually justify their bloodlust wars with Thucydides Trap style rhetoric. “Let’s fight “X” there so that we don’t have to fight them here.” Most of us are old enough to remember Rice’s ominous warning about the “smoking gun becoming a mushroom cloud“. Granted, it’s part of the consent manufacturing process but it’s the public perception of an imminent danger that matters.

Perhaps because M. grew up and was brought up in the Soviet Union in the time of the intense anti-Solzhenitsyn character assassination campaign which followed his expulsion from USSR (he did not flee the country as it is too often suggested). It is doubtful that he ever knew anything else about Solzh. (his books were banned in the SU). And in the US he stumbled upon the same campaign of character assassination, perhaps more vicious than the Soviet one. And perhaps because there are still lots of people for whom only the 'bolsheviks' are 'Russian patriots', whose vision of pre-Communist Russia is the 'Leyenda Negra of Russia' (which has the same origins as the Spanish Leyenda Negra).
And for a professed 'bezbozhnik' the most offensive declaration of Solzhenitsyn is: ”But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened''.

Bolsheviks built the biggest empire on earth. Of course they were patriots. As to Solzhenitsyn, he called for nuking the USSR and allowed the West to use him as a Cold War tool. This is not what patriots do. In this respect, he’s always compared to Varlam Shalamov. As a trotskyist, Shalamov was sent to labor camp twice. Despite going to hell and back and to hell again, Shalamov remained a devout communist and a sincere patriot. Incidentally, he’s also a much better writer. I recommend reading his Kolyma Tales.

“…the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people…”

Solzhenitsyn kept throwing around grotesque deaths numbers, as if they were Party confetti. On different occasions he cited “50 to 60 million” “66 million” and “110 million”. A million here, 5 million there… When you try to show how angry you are at the communists, you lose track.

Funny argument 'Bolsheviks built the biggest empire on earth', them the 'anti-imperialists' (of Russian imperialism in particular)! Now, in point of fact they took over the Empire built by the Tsars after they busted them and killed a few boyars, bourgeois, kulaks, popes (the worst lot).
I was wondering when the theme 'Shalamov vs Solzhenitsyn' would pop out of the hat. He is a central piece of the character assassination of Solzhenitsyn (actually he was the first to accuse Sol of ''playing according to the rulebook of Cold War cultural politics''). He was certainly more palatable to the western 'Left', the leftovers of the Comintern, trotskist, 'antifascist' and neo-con alike. ''A man of inexorable anti-authoritarian instincts, an atheist, and a member of the “left” anti-Stalinist opposition'', who never renounced his core revolutionary ideals and refused to equate Soviet rule with Stalinism''“more left than the leftists”, ''continuing the legacy of the 1920s avant-garde'', eager to “participate in the great battle for the real transformation of life”, who ''never disavowed the Soviet project'' (birds of feather flock together).
Whereas Solzhenitsyn remained stuck into a praise of that Russia which all the 'West', left and right, scholars and politicians, capitalists and proletarians, execrated for centuries because "the tsarist dream of world domination caught the soul of the Russian nation'' (Russia as ''the 'Prison of the peoples', the 'gendarme of Europe', 'authoritarian', etc - the tropes of the perennial anti-Russian propaganda), and desired and worked hard for its 'containment' and eventual downfall. He was guilty of being ''so arrogantly biased that he absolves nineteenth-century Russia of any crime of violence, repression or persecution (above all the crime of crimes -pogroms)'' and denying that the Revolution was an exclusive product of the Russian milieu and not a reflection of the international 'battle for the real transformation of life' (LGBTQ+, transhumanism anyone?). And he committed the unpardonable offense to criticizing the American 'way of life' and American gullibility. And the more unpardonable offense to talk about God. And he is praised by Putin, the ''mafia boss, the totalitarian ruler, the godfather'', the poisoner who “destroyed institutions in Russia”, with whom the “Western leaders shouldn't deal with as a leader” (Mikhail Khodorkovsky) !

  • With simply a public statement, repudiating the crimes and imperialism of the Soviet era, and honoring all European efforts to remove all memorials to that monstrous period of history (….) would herald a new, triumphal moment in Russian and European relations, with mutual respect and an eye to mutual cooperation

Naive and misguided beyond words. NATO today is what the Wehrmacht was in 1941. We ran through those monsters then, we’ll run over their time clones tomorrow. Russia is the only “Europe” that’s left there.

Saker, could you explain the reason for the disliking (deep) of Solzhenitsin by some Russians?
    Thanks

Needless to say, the actual numbers of the 1937/38 political repressions were lower by order of magnitude. By the end of his life, Solzhenitsyn knew that, yet left the numbers in the Archipelago unchanged. See also my answer at # 34.

Russia is an organic empire. So yes, sooner or later, every Russian ruler becomes an Empire builder. “Bolsheviks” continued what the Rus princes and tsars have started. Many “boyars and bourgeois” as you call them, joined on their side. Bolsheviks just brought the empire to the next level. In 25 years the USSR eradicated illiteracy, built a nation-wide electrical grid, (re)built hundreds of Far East and Central Asian cities, modernized the industry, developed a first rate science and created a culture, far superior in its soulfulness and spirituality to anything “cultural” in the West. All this, while having the rest of the world against them. Sure, they engaged in some creative destruction. What empire doesn’t?

And the more unpardonable offense to talk about God.

I suggest you leave G_d out of this. Take a stroll on any New York street. You can’t pass a “church” that doesn’t exhibit a fag flag over its entrance. Does that look like a “house of G_d” to you? How about Zionist evangelical temples? Despite being an atheist, Shalamov is in fact a genuinely Christian writer. And he succeeds where Solzhenitsyn fails – finding meaning in his seemingly senseless suffering. At some point, martyr posturings and loud “you all forgot G-d” sermons are not enough.
It took Solzhenitsyn decades to realize that Russian Socialism is a hypostasis of Russian messianism and as such, a religious project in its very essence.

    I recommend reading Solzhenitsyn.

Absolutely! “200 years together” and “The Russia’s collapse” (Россия в обвале), should be a mandatory reading in both Russia and the US.

ValMonde - I appreciate much of what you write, but the bit about the USSR's 25-year build-out, portrayed as if it was pulling itself up by its boot-straps, is ludicrous. Antony Sutton's trilogy 'Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development' surely eviscerates that mythology. Having access to State Department archives at the Hoover Institution of War, Revolution and Peace, Sutton was able to tell a more complete story. Not that Russians and subject peoples didn't do the physical labor, but it was Western Capital Goods that built the Soviet Union from 1917-1965, all the way through the proverbial 'Cold War', that was pretty hot in the Southern Hemisphere nations. It wasn't just crack-pots like LaRouche who pointed out the special "Condominium of Interests" shared by those living in the Northern Hemisphere.

I didn't think about it until I read some of yours and others insights about Solzhenitsyn (thanks for those) but he really seems like he was a cultural back-channel, a 'shared-agent' if you will, performing various ideological services, as the times required. Whether he just fronted for a writing-project on his '200 Years Together' is above my pay grade, but his peculiar access to information and his previously protected celebrity-status in the West is too curious. The whole thing about our lack of access to a fully-translated copy of his book and it not being in print in the US is really strange. It's as if someone really wants us to read it? (kind of like the vaccine shortages) Or is it as simple as 'Bolshevik'-patriots suppressing history? That's not sarcasm, just an expression how it's a bit of a challenge to decipher exactly what you're communicating at times. I may just be 'tripping-over' irrelevant details but I'm not sure, as my first sentence above reveals.

In a way, I guess I could say a similar thing about Antony Sutton, as I do Solzhenitsyn, only in a reverse sense, as Sutton was quite obscure, ostensibly IRS-hounded out of the US to Australia, and we're faced with the odd fact that one of the few video interviews one can even find of him was done by Elizabeth Claire Prophet, an uber-cultist if there ever was one; a cultism that red-flags her as having worked for some intelligence agency or another. I mean who else gets to have a mountain-cave redoubt full of military hardware and travel the country hypnotizing audiences with St. Germain schtick and selling gemstone-fakes in hotel lobbies.

Sutton's alma-mater Hoover Institution is probably just one of those higher-levels of "right" perception-management, like say the Institute for Social Research is on the "left", but Sutton really did document trade of massive amounts of production-technology of every sort in exchange for Siberian resources. Our friends play every side of the game. So, although I'm fascinated by your meta-analysis of Solzhenitsyn's changes in perspective, and maybe it is as you say, to me he still smacks of a man who was 'managed' (or coerced) in the gray zone of those quietly co-operating international agencies.

Neither do I have evidence that Solzhenitsyn was a “back channeled shared agent” (although there are persistent rumors). All that’s known today is that upon reading the Archipelago, the members of Politburo split in two camps. Shelokov, the minister of interior, wanted it published as a curated/commented multi-million edition, offered giving Solzhenitsyn a literary price and make him a living classic. Andropov, then the KGB boss, wanted Solzhenitsyn out. The KGB line prevailed. The rest is history.

I’m not familiar with Sutton’s trilogy, so I can’t comment on it. Certainly looking forward to reading it. The idea, however, that “Western Capital Goods built the Soviet Union from 1917-1965” seems to me rather absurd. The history of the fulgurant Soviet economic ascent is well documented. So are the names and the achievements of Soviet scientists.
It’s true that Stalin thought highly of American efficiency and productivity. By the end of the 40s, he flooded the USSR with all kind of American mid-level industry experts. He personally admired Henry Ford. Ford’s “My life and Works” was translated in Russian and went through some 10 editions in 10 years.
But consider the fact that the US recognized the USSR diplomatically only in 1935. Little known fact: the US made an attempt to counter the Bolshevik revolution by invading Russia’s Far East in 1918. After pillaging and terrorizing the locals for two years, the Americans eventually left, demoralized and defeated by the cold weather and the bad living conditions. The Red Army, which was busy fighting more serious and imminent threats, ignored them for the entire time.
True, the US provided some technical and logistic support during WWII.
But I can’t imagine Western capital goods making much of a difference during the Cold War and the McCarthy years.
Actually in the 50s, the USA had plans to nuke the USSR. Preemptively.
Why would Wall Street invest in a country their government wanted to annihilate?

The fact that MI6 refuses to publish the original Russian version, leaves little doubt it’s a fake. The circumstances surrounding his defection, arrest and execution are still shrouded in mystery. It’s still not clear if Penkovsky was an ordinary traitor or a high level triple agent, master of disinformation.

Reds did have some spies among Vlasov army, So Reds did load a train with soldiers and sent it to Murmansk. There was some shooting duel with American soldiers, who were guarding the arms. But American soldiers did see that odds are overwhelmingly against them so they withdraw and boarded the ships,
When Vlasov did arrive the weapons were already half way to Petrograd.
On the way back Vlasov aim himself on Yekaterinsburg. He wanted to free the Czar.

Technically, untrue. No one wanted the fall of the Romanovs more than Russian liberals, big landowners, francmasones and Russian aristocracy – including the Romanov Grand Dukes. The upcoming coup and a possible Romanovs’ execution were discussed openly. Nicholas II’s abdication was actually celebrated by the Orthodox Synod. There were more tsarist officers in the Red Army than in the White movement. And war gave Bolsheviks a very acute understanding of historical continuity.

The Red Army was practically the Russian Army reconstituted from the disbanded units by the Revolution, when the Bolshevik Government realized that it would be hard for a militia armed with revolutionary enthusiasm to prevail against professional armies. The officers were drafted. There was patriotism also, of course - the case of Brusilov, a noted 'Slavophile' and Orthodox with a distaste for Germans developed during his command of the XIV Corps in the Warsaw Military District (1908-1912), a hero of WW1, adored and revered by his men.
Lenin recognized that: ""You have heard about the series of the brilliant victories won by the Red Army. There are tens of thousands of old colonels and other officers in its ranks. If we had not taken them into service and them work for us, we could not have created the Army...only with their help was the Red Army able to win the victories that it did."
Tsarist officers made up the majority of the General Staff Academy's faculty and constituted over 90 percent of all instructional and administrative staff at military schools. The Stavka was organised in a manner very similar to its Tsarist antecedent and much of the military curriculum was copied from the Imperial General Staff Academy. They have been replaced gradually by the new cadres, not necessarily because of doubts about their loyalty, but rather because many reached the inevitable retirement age. Russians love to talk about sverhtsennostee - the "supervalues", the absolute values, the fixed ideas of French psychiatry. That is the opposite of nihilism. Calling it nihilism is a trick of the centrists who want to preserve the rotten edifice of the status quo.
    https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Сверхценная_идея

I never understood the nihilistic Western distinction between religion and ideology. The former is but a kind of the latter. A set of beliefs expected to ensure a higher degree of survival to the population. Communism, for one, is based on the faith that economic relations determine culture. Christianity is based on worshipping the Jewish god of universal love. Liberalism is a mutation of Christianity which expands said love onto transvestites and removes Jesus as outdated and counter-productive.

The only part I would agree with is in recognising the folly of the neo-Christians - the Aryan frog must have been boiled slowly! The race was dying just fine. But the recent excesses of the BLM and of Biden's transvestites might have been undue sparks for a potential Aryan revolt. Which can only be explained as the gloating of a moustache-twirling villain.

re Florida: Agree. Having spent over 6 months shopping to relocate to FL, what I've seen = cultural wasteland built Fort Bragg-style on abundant reclaimed swampland.

Friends stashed me in their golf cart to tour The Villages, about which they were ecstatic, having just spent $700k for a tricked-out $200k cement block house on the edge of a drainage pond ("They have promised to clear the algae and overgrowth once the development is built out, and we pay only $453/month to keep the insects down, the lawn watered." )
We visited two or three of the several Community Centers -- massive buildings/complexes with large and small meeting rooms decorated around themes -- Military, Hunting er something like that; -- complexes include swimming pools, tennis courts & the like. There are several Town Centers that have a central gazebo or band shell, a street or two of retail shops.
It struck me that the Communities replace the parishes of my growing-up years, when the Parish Church was the center of social activity.

But most of the rest of newly developed FL that I have seen (on Gulf Coast) consists of a Publix next to an Advance Auto next to a chain restaurant -- one runs into the other, indistinguishable. Neighborhoods are advertised as Desirable based on their proximity to Costco. I guess you have to be a local or have lived there for X years to know if you're in Bradenton or Sarasota.

Tampa & St Petersburg have a bit more personality, but also more crime & higher taxes.

About Florida not having income tax: well, ya, but the newer developments, of which there are a gazillion, were developed with a financing system called the CDD or Bond (The Villages have Bond; further South, i.e. Manatee Co., CDD -- Community Development ___ ) that tacks anywhere from $1500 to $3500 onto the annual real property tax. DeSantis was - is heavily supported by the Neal family developers who have built out many of these developments on that CDD basis.

In Manatee, Sun City Center (Hillsborough Co) and The Villages, which are heavily 55+ communities, public schools are not numerous and those that exist have very low scores. What will become of these communities when Boomers die off? What will become of Florida's economy when building-developing-real estate sales no longer dominates the economy? It happened before in Florida, that the bottom fell out of the Real Estate market. Will it happen again? Is the RE frenzy in FL Tulipmania, or is the scamdemic motivating people to vote with their feet?

PLUS -- Florida's SouthEast is heavily populated by Jewish interests, + Trump.

Add to that the recent inclusion of Israeli military as elements in US Central Command based in Tampa.
Make of that what you will.

A hard choice, indeed, but he made it. He placed his “Agree” under the comment saying the German women willingly gave themselves for a cig.

Bwwaaaaa! The Japanese trusted him until the bitter end, and then the coward and his cowardly red rapist army waited until Truman nuked Japan to rush in and steal everything in sight, like the Kuril Islands.

Of course Poland also made the mistake of trusting in Stalin's dreams, we know what that got them. Stabbed in the back in 1939 and again in 1945.

Stalin had a nervous break down in 1941 when the Wehrmacht was at the gates of Moscow. If Japan had attacked then, especially instead of taking Roosevelts bait at Pearl Harbor, then all the forces Stalin pulled west from defending against Japan would have been tied down in the East and Stalin would have fled Russia like the coward he was.

But what is really telling about Shamir and all the Russophiles here is how they stick to Stalin and the Red Army to the bitter end. At least 70% of the American commenters here will readily admit that Roosevelt was a jew-stooge, that America has started numerous war of aggression, that America never should have gotten involved in two world wars. But the Stalin lovers, like Shamir, stick with Stalin to the bitter end, denying all the suffering, starvation and death he brought on Europe in general, on Russians in specific. Russians made, and still make, the perfect useful idiots to their jew overlords. This is why Putin simply cannot be considered trustworthy.

Of course Shamir ignores the most damning thing of all about Stalin, that just like Roosevelt and Churchill, Stalin was blatantly a part of the hidden hand of Judeo-Freemasonry.

Ursula Haverbeck is still being raped by the Red Rapist Army, after 75 years. Of course it is jews who have imposed the prison sentence for "holocaust denial", but it is Russian apologists for Stalin who are still supporting it. They simply have no shame. To this day Russians are still raping and murdering for their jewish overlords, at least figuratively.

Another victim of the 75 year long rape of German women is Irmgard F., former secretary at the Stutthof labor camp.

"Irmgard F. was about 17 years old when she became a secretary at the Stutthof concentration camp in Poland in 1943. For about two years, she went about her work — as the Nazis murdered tens of thousands of people just outside of her office. Now 95, she’s been charged as an accessory in 10,000 murders and complicity in attempted murders.
    ...
Prosecutors said that she had admitted that much of the correspondence related to the camp and many files crossed her desk, and that she knew of some killings of inmates. But she maintains that she did not know that large numbers of the camp’s inmates were being killed by gas during the time she worked there. She has also said that her office window pointed away from the camp, so that she could not see what was going on, according to media reports.
    "

The same story over and over and over. The Germans insist that there were no mass murders, but filthy lying jews and their Russian stooges maintain the lie. Meanwhile, the rape of innocent women continues after 75 years.

"Two typhus epidemics swept through the camp in 1942 and 1944, killing thousands and weakening others who were killed after being judged unfit to work. In June 1944, guards began gassing prisoners with Zyklon B in the camp’s small gas chamber. All told, notes the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Nazi guards are estimated to have imprisoned more than 100,000 people and killed more than 60,000 people over Stutthof’s six years in operation."

Jews and their Russian stooges claim that this secretary, age 17, charge with accessory to 10,000 "murders", witnessed 60,000 gassings in less that 9 months between June 1944 and April 1944 in a "small gas chamber" from her office window. Meanwhile there were 2 typhus epidemics.

Doing simple math, we come up with 60,000/10*30=at least 200 gassings a day 7 days a week in a "small gas chamber".

This shows what idiots Russians are, they cannot perform simple math. It also shows how depraved they are, still raping a 95 year old woman with their idiotic lies after 75 years.

These marginalized neo-nazi hacks (with apologies to real former Nazis) twist themselves into logic pretzels trying to find some way to apply the old European "blood and soil" romanticism of the early 19th century to the US. In fact, it was precisely that romanticism that America, as an idea, completely rejected in favor of the "melting pot" analogy...assimilation to the "idea", not to "blood and soil." I am as distressed as many others by the sight of that "idea", or ideal, collapsing around us like the WTC towers. But I have nothing by joy for the demolition of the "idea" as interpreted by toxic people of the Daily Storm stripe. The founding of the idea, or "experiment", of the USA was one of the most remarkable achievements of humanity. To that, I say Happy 4th of July. The SS pride parade organisers and participants in Lvov and Kiev.

    Those are the Ukranazis.

The saker isn't a sound unbiased source of information on Russia, thats the first thing

Secondly for someone who hates the West as much as he does, he really should go and live in Russia,he'd be much happier, and no i don't care for his blathering about why he won't move to Russia,I'm sure Putin would give him citizenship for all his sterling propaganda work 😉

As for Martyanov, well same thing applies, his so called analyses about disabling a NATO warship wouldn't go down well with NATO or the crew of said ship,as they'd have no option but to shoot back

Maybe thats what NATO want, then they could really hammer Putin's regime, the loss of one warship wouldn't be a high price if it meant the end of Putin's regime, and don't forget once Putin goes Russia goes with him

Anyway nobody is gonna sink anything,NATO sailed straight past Putin's army and they couldn't do jack shit about it,although all of this was spun in a particularly Soviet way by Putin's propaganda machine and hyped up by his fanboy club, you know people like you've mentioned

What they never mention is how poor the Russian economy is and how Putin has had absolutely no ability to stop demographic decline, his regime stinks Russia is now basically run by the FSB so anybody with brains leaves, another massive problem for Putin, but basically he doesn't care

My advice stop reading biased BS about Russia, otherwise you'll be in for a big fat shock when it becomes apparent that Russia is collapsing, which I've predicted to be within the next 15 years, thats when the perfect storm will engulf Russia

In the case of an armed conflict with Russia, half of the Ukrainian troops will defect to the Russian army within 24 hours. Most ot the other half will quickly retreat to Lviv or escape to Poland. The few Ukronazi units daring to engage in operations will be destroyed way before the 175 and 176 brigades physically cross the DNR and LNR border. The West won’t lift a finger. They don’t have neither the guts nor the firepower. Yes, they’ll impose “sanctions” and loudly proclaim that they will never, never recognize Kiev as a part of Russia. NATO will disintegrate within a month.

Last thing that's needed is some shooting incident. The only people to suffer would be the hapless servicemen shoved into the firing line by the policy makers who themselves couldn't care less but need some martyrs to enrage their public with. NATO seems to be upping its posturing to play to all its captive members, a lineup of midgets who'll mutiny should they start getting sunk and shot up. NATO is just the US pushing all the other chumps in front of it as bullet catchers. Even the illegitimate Ukrainian government may have misgivings about all this. Also, I doubt the Bulgarians have much in common with the Poles for instance.

For starters, they don't have Slavic descent in common. Bulgarians, Serbs and Macedonians are Slavic-speaking Illyrians/Albanians/Thracians. Slavs by descent are Czechs (mixed with Germans), Poles, Slovaks, Slovenians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and Russians. Croats are mixed.

    Here is a source:

From a strictly genetic perspective, Poles, Sorbs, Ukrainians, Belarussians, Central Russians, Southern Russians, Lithuanians and Latvians are largely one people, with small differences between them. Slavic language originated in their territory so these people can be considered Slavs. Northern Russians are mixed with Finns. Czechs and Slovaks are mixed with Germans.

Balkan Slavic-speaking people have some Slavic descent but mostly are Balkan people, though not mixed with Greeks. They are thus basically Illyrians or Thracians. Romanians while not Slavic-speaking are genetically transitional, between Balkan people and core Slavs. Overall Slavic genetic heritage in the Balkans is about 20%-25%, same as Turkic genetic heritage among Anatolians (20%) or European heritage of African-Americans (18%).

It's probably no less credible to say that people of Prussian ancestry are genetically closer to northeastern Slavs than Austrians.

To date, I know of no national wide large scale participation in a DNA study - once again noting that different DNA tests have given different results. As an example, a thorough regional DNA of Poland would likely show differences indicating some Poles closer to Russians than other Poles.

They were genetically absorbed by the Balkan who outnumbered them. Maybe in the 9th century the peoples hadn’t been as mixed and there were still discrete Slavic areas in the Balkans.

Either way it is not surprising. Proximity to Byzantium made this region more educated and civilized than the Slavic homeland far to the north. And don’t forget that the alphabet used by the Turkic peoples was developed by Anatolian Turks who are themselves of only 20% or so actual Turkic descent.
