RSSA discussion of POW issues that does not contain a reference to “Kiss the Boys Goodbye”? This is a comprehensive work by Monika Jensen-Stevenson and William Stevenson. Do NOT read this book if you have even a shred of belief in the US Govt. or its agents/apologists.
Mr. Kiza: While I agree with most of your reply it is a fact that the overwhelming majority of POWs were volunteers. Mr Blizzard I checked the site you mentioned…..my position is read Kiss the Boys Goodbye…The people such as “Red McDaniel and “Bo” Gritz were combatants with impeccable reputations among those who actually fought the war. I stand with Ms Stevenson’s book as the definitive text on the matter.
Many of the comments on this site seem to be fed by MSM articles many of which are completely Bravo Sierra. Rambo not withstanding, most of the men I served with had the highest regard for the tenacity and courage of the enemy we faced….when I returned in 2oo7 I found that ‘the enemy’ also had the highest regard for us.
I first set foot in Viet Nam as an eighteen year old with a few months of military training; I left 21 months later much older and wiser. We are all pawns in this great game and I seldom meet anyone who cares much about that fact, forget about being willing to contribute to any real change.
Lost American good job. Mike 3/5 USMC and anti-war all the way, but not so smart at seventeen. Some folks think anti-war means pacifist……not so; although I have no interest in serving the state I am inclined and equipped to protect my family and community.

I almost quit reading at the end of the second paragraph where this ass hat referred to HRCs capacity to “make the most important decision of all – whether to put young American women and men in harms way.” Anyone who believes, despite the efforts of these clowns in DC, that the overwhelming majority of those who will go in harms way are anything but expendable Caucasian males, is sucking the KOOLAID from a BIG GULP cup.
So many of these creeps sucking up to power, either believe these fairy tales, or think that the rest of us are all so stupid that we believe them. None of these moochers are capable of speaking a paragraph without tipping the listener to the fact that they believe the hive think in DC enlists the most capable minds in the country to carry out its skullduggery. When I worked as a mud Marine my fellows and I reserved the most contempt for these characters……ass kissers they were called. No more to be said.
General Allen indeed. A look at his resume ( In the military worn on the left chest) would signal a few things to the initiated. The general looks to have never had a combat command, much less served in combat himself. Aside from the navy jump wings, a gimmie for a fast moving officer, all of that “fruit salad” shows a history aligned with Col David Hackworth’s famous statement regarding a “Dimestore Marine.” There are no personal combat decorations, not even the coveted CAR (Combat Action Ribbon).
Either the general spent decades in the 2-shop (intel) or he is what most ‘snuffies’ (junior enlisted) would derisively call a pogue. Like too many before him Gen Allen, most likely, was(is)a master politician, a true ‘Perfumed Prince of the Potomac.’
For a ‘Genius’ your writing reminds me more of those millionaire douche bags who dance in end zones each weekend. I have known some persons of power and intellect, and none of them spent any time tooting their own horn as you do. Gore Vidal never spoke to me, but if the solo party meme was too complex for you to think about in days gone by, surely it is, or will become, obvious to you soon.

You got a star on those jump wings your sister has? CIB?
Connection between Mensa and Free Man? Too dense to sense when you are being jibed or mocked?
Psychology is BS? No doubt, sort of like, “the land of the free and home of the brave.” I thought so too until I was in the company of better men than you who needed a little help getting themselves back on track.
I appreciate some jazz and have no truck with a lot of stuff you have written. You just don’t speak like any genius I have been around. Other than that, Carry On!
Wish it could be so……these officers are trained to launch on receipt of the GO codes. I have to believe that the selection process weeds out those who might be unwilling to follow the launch protocol.
Many have seemed to miss the obvious. Where have all the good men gone….” gone to flowers, every one.” Yes my friends we have been at war, hot or cold, for nearly all of my (66 year) life. Those men who were not killed or maimed outright later fall to drug or drink, or the demons marathoning their dreams. Those who make it through unscathed are at a premium when the ladies go searching for, “A Few Good Men.”
Free world? When you find such a place let me know. I’m quite interested in checking it out.Replies: @Sparrowhawk6
How are we to account for his noxious presence as commander-in-chief and putative Leader of the Free World?
One of the most pointed and astute comments I have ever seen. Bravo! Thank you Sir.
Actually Rod ‘assault’ rifles were carried by the militia in the revolution. The muskets, carried by the British, were smooth bore and quite inferior to the “Kentucky” rifles carried by the colonists. The rifle carried by the common infantryman is an assault rifle regardless of its appearance or configuration. Today in the American military it is the M-16 variant chambered for the 5.56 mm NATO round.
