Hunting around to see if you'd already written a review of Everything Bad Is Good for You, the article below was https://www.unz.com/isteve/white-guy-wins-nba-mvp-award/

    This part ages especially well:

"This raises a more general question about the state of African-American culture. On a variety of measures, blacks are doing better than in the early 1990s: crime is way down, illegitimacy is down, and abortion is down.

But, African-America’s flagship, the NBA, is culturally stuck in the gangsta rap era that began about 1988 with NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” album, which spread the crack dealer’s ethos nationwide. The typical NBA star in his prime today was an impressionable adolescent during the worst years of the crack era, about 1988-1994, and his selfish play and squabbling demeanor reflects the culture of that era. It will be interesting to see whether African-American players with better attitudes are coming along. Perhaps Lebron James, who finished sixth in the voting at the age of 20, is a hopeful harbinger."

Not only James, but it almost hints at the unselfish ball movement style of the Warriors on the distant horizon

Fine wine is overrated but cheap wine is garbage.

People that say the $10 Trader Joe wines are "fine" have terrible taste. They are a step up from hobo wine but they taste cheap.

But that doesn't mean that you have to spend $50. I'd never spend that much on wine. Maybe $30 on champagne at the most.

Costco has some good wines in the $14-20 range.

Colossal Reserva is a good one.

Yuck. I can't stand the acres of dead horses wine. Not even a sip.

If you want to get drunk on the cheap then I would suggest a light beer you can stand with some lime and a shot of tequila dropped into it. The beer will hide pretty cheap tequila. Slam or sip it.

Orlando, Florida CNN — Convicted fraudster Joel Greenberg, who cooperated extensively with the Justice Department’s sex-trafficking probe into GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz, was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison by a federal judge in Florida.

Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector, previously pleaded guilty to underage sex trafficking, wire fraud, stalking, identity theft, producing fake ID cards, and conspiring to defraud the US government. He has been in jail since early 2021 and will get some credit for time served.

“I have never seen a defendant who has committed so many different types of crimes in such a relatively short period,” said district Judge Gregory Presnell, who has been on the federal bench for decades and has sentenced more than 1,000 defendants.

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/01/politics/joel-greenberg-sentencing/index.html

    Greenberg’s “brazen” crime spree

After initially facing 33 counts, Greenberg pleaded guilty in May 2021 to six federal crimes.

The stalking charge was related to a hoax that Greenberg perpetuated against a teacher who ran against him in 2020, when he was running for re-election as Seminole County tax collector.

As part of his plea, Greenberg admitted sending letters to the teacher’s school, falsely accusing them of sexual misconduct with a student. He also tried to make the teacher look racist by making fake social media accounts under their name and posting inflammatory material.

The judge said this was “perhaps the most egregious” of Greenberg’s crimes and said it was “downright evil” to frame the teacher of sexual misconduct. Greenberg apologized to the teacher, Brian Beute, at Thursday’s hearing, and Beute told reporters later that he accepts the apology.

Greenberg also successfully scammed the Small Business Administration of $430,000 in Covid-19 relief funds by bribing a federal official, according to court filings.

The wire fraud charge stemmed from Greenberg misusing hundreds of thousands of Florida taxpayer dollars to make personal cryptocurrency investments. He used government equipment to make fake ID cards, and abused his access to a DMV database on his first day in office, according to court filings.

Alison is the founder of Harlem Run, an NYC-based running movement, and Run 4 All Women, which has raised over $150,000 for Planned Parenthood and $270,000 for Black Voters Matter.

Alison is co-founder and former chair of the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, a nonprofit that unites the running industry to provide resources, measure progress, and hold the industry accountable to equitable employment, leadership, and ownership positions and improve inclusion, visibility, and access for Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

Alison most recently has channeled her personal experiences and formal training to bring the mental benefits of running to a broader group. She created a series of events called Meaning Thru Movement that provides education and practical steps to improving mental and physical health, especially for the BIPOC community. These robust discussions not only educate all of us on the realities non-white runners face, but illuminate a more inclusive path forward that fights white supremacy and racism.

“ At least theoretically; rounding up and deporting 30-50 million people would be quite the task. Then what?”

The illegal population is more like 18 million, and you might round up to 23 if you include people on fraudulent visas.

There is no need to deport more than a sliver of them. Cracking down on welfare programs for illegals and illegal employment causes self deportations. Many illegals will also immediately agree to leave without legal contest in return for not being formally deported, which makes returning to the US legally for any reason nearly impossible. Finally, there’s natural attrition of illegal populations, for example Mexicans returning to their family villages after saving up enough money.

Talk of “rounding up millions” is basically leftist and libertarian claptrap, and I hope not to see it on iSteve. Reducing the illegal alien population by 10 million is something that can be done easily in two years if we had a President committed to the goal, and the number of actual deportations would not need to be much higher than they are now.

    1) if you feel the need to go somewhere armed, consider very carefully whether or not you really need to go there."

As far as number 1: I carry literally everywhere that doesn't station a metal detector at the entrance. This includes my daughters' schools. Why, because unless you are more reclusive than Ron Unz, the potential need for a firearm is literally anywhere and everywhere. The grocery store, the gas station, my daughter's school, where ever my employer decides to send me, which is often the south and west sides of Chicago. I need groceries, I need fuel, I need to work. So in short, your point number one is completely out of touch with the reality of life.

As far as your number 2 and 3 go, a majority of modern cops are not the kinds of people qualified to be doling out advice on personal firearm protection. I don't need an obese homosexual diversity hire to explain to me the ins and outs of close combat, unless it's with a sandwich.

The female to males are all butch lesbians that already act the male part and want to switch over. They get on hormones but most still keep their vajay. The surgery is really expensive and the fake penis looks stupid.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- Sheriff's deputies pulled over Eddie Murphy early Friday and arrested a transsexual prostitute who was riding in his car, authorities said. A spokesman for the actor maintained Murphy was just being a "good Samaritan" by offering the transsexual a ride.

Sheriff's deputies pulled over Murphy's Land Cruiser at 4:45 a.m., a short time after they observed a "known transsexual prostitute" get inside, authorities said.

A sheriff's department spokesman said deputies determined no illegal activity had occurred, but they arrested Atisone Seuli, 20, on an outstanding warrant for prostitution.

On April 22, 1998, a neighbor in Seiuli's apartment building found her dead on the sidewalk outside the building. Discovered wearing only her bra, pants and a towel, police suspected Shalimar was locked out of her apartment, and tried to use a towel as a rope to slide or swing down from the roof to an open window. Instead, she fell five floors and suffered severe head trauma, resulting in her death, which was classified as accidental.[8] The coroner's report stated someone heard a scream at 5 o'clock in the morning, which is believed to indicate the time of Seiuli's death.[5]

And even then the populace could turn on Jews and Christians at any given time. Plus you mention the Almohads who were Islamic fundamentalists on par with Al Qaeda and IS.

In Mississippi, incarceration is a business model, and its leaders (sheriffs etc) are not questioned.

It is a horrible state of affairs.

Living in Mississippi, if you're poor or a person of color must be worse than living almost anywhere else on Earth. The state and local governments feel no obligation to protect all citizens. In Jackson, the capital, there is a substandard water supply and no reliable trash removal. You have Tate Reeve's, a privileged, bigoted, white man and the legislature denying services to the citizens. You have the hideous Brett Favre taking money earmarked for services to the poor, to fund a sports arena at his daughter's college. This terrible account of police violence and corruption, as shocking as it is, should not be a surprise in a state this deplorable. It appears that Mississippi is a "third world" state.

    https://www.jstor.org/stable/20039542

And these are just two examples. Google “blacks Arabs” and plenty of articles pop up. Most are biased because of course blacks have to play the victim narrative but at the same time forgetting that they were engaging in the slave trade with the Arabs before the Europeans. Perhaps even before Islam.

There’s also a book about Islamic Spain called “The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise” that goes more or less deep in the subject. I recall there’s a passage that Arabs, in particular caliphs, valued white concubines over black ones. A white concubine was worth probably double what an African concubine was worth, even one from Nubia. Which explains why even around the 1600s Barbary corsairs were launching expeditions all the way to Iceland to grab slaves. I’m personally surprised that they never dated to come to the Americas to raid here

In terms of hurting sales, boycotts tend not to be super effective as most people don’t respond, let alone stick to them. Remember the Great Keurig Boycott of 2017? Or Frito-Lay in 2021? Or, more recently, when people were mad because M&Ms were girls? Plus, if Bud Light’s doing a campaign like this, it probably thinks it will help its sales with some segment of consumers.

Bigger picture, Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, has tons of brands under its umbrella and is worth over $100 billion. Its stock price hasn’t really moved on the matter — it’s up over the past month, though in the last few days it’s come down some from recent highs. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been worrying developments.

Whether or not this current boycott will have much of an impact on Bud Light’s sales remains to be seen, but the answer is probably no. Boycotts tend to damage a company’s reputation more than they do its bottom line, and here, it’s not entirely clear how much reputational damage is even being done.

In right-wing media, those comments are being spun to suggest Bud Light wants to get rid of its more typical white male demographic, but that’s not really what’s going on. Bud Light has been losing ground to other beers, such as craft beers and Modelo and Michelob Ultra, as well as to spirits, for quite some time now. It’s looking for new customers wherever it can find them. “The reality is much more simple — it’s that the white male customer who used to drink a lot of Bud Light doesn’t anymore, and Bud Light has no choice but to find people who do,” Infante said. “There’s just no growth for Bud Light in its traditional core audience the way it used to have and used to be able to rely on.”

I know you're a troll who plays the Latino hero, but here's a short list of some of the labor jobs this now 63 year old White man did before, during and after working his own way through college:

Forest worker / tree cutter. (How many chainsaws have you operated? How many trees have you cut? How many forest fires have you worked on?

Snow shoveler. (How many early mornings have you gotten up and ridden around Colorado with a crew to shovel other people's snow all day after a storm?)

Lab technician / R&D tester. (Do you even have the brains for this? How many environmental test chambers have you programmed and operated? Do you even know what one is? How many wind tunnels have you worked on? How manny fiberglas ducts have you fabricated and tested in your equipment?)

Landscape worker. (How much sod have you laid? How many loads of it have you put on and off a half-ton truck? Have you ever driven a half-ton truck full of sod?)

Cafeteria cook. (Have you ever made 96 gigantic pizzas in one evening and fed 500 people? Have you ever started work every Saturday morning at 6 AM and cracked cases of eggs into buckets, scrambled them, fried bacon, mixed and made pancakes for hundreds of people?)

Construction yard worker / forklift operator. (How many 100 pound sacks of cement have you personally loaded onto trucks by your own muscles alone? How many months have you driven a forklift for the heavier stuff?)

Restaurant prep cook. (Have you ever made 60 salads in one pop while making and baking quiche and lasagna, while the chef judges everything you do?)

Sheet metal fabricator. (How many months have you operated a press brake, spotwelder, punch press...? I did all that and more for a year.)

Not to mention, I maintain my own property, and when I need to employ a landscaper, I pay good money to a White American man who grew up in my town and has to compete with cheap, Latino labor like you pretend to be. I actually like many Latino people, and I see how hard some of them work. I also find some of the younger women cute. We just don't need any more of your teammates here. The work itself was important -- it needed to be done quickly and correctly or people could die -- but it wasn't anything the Apollo engineers couldn't have done for themselves if they didn't have better uses for their time.
