Less than a year after their coup, the Sovnarkom of the RSFSR abolished university entrance exams on August 2, 1918. The admissions process of 1918/19 was annulled and universities were ordered to open up to everybody, with no tests for subject knowledge or even literacy. Thus came to an end one of the few unmitigated...
  • @TG
Indeed. Even for graduate programs in the hard sciences, more and more universities are abolishing any sort of entrance exam (like the GRE). As you can expect, the quality of the entering students is not so much uniformly low, as highly variable: we still get smart students, but also many who literally can't do math involving fractions. And they all have to graduate, no matter what.

But I don't think this is so much 'progressive,' as corporate. While the public excuse for this dilution of quality is 'diversity,' IMHO the real reason is to keep the numbers up and the revenue streams flowing. As with car salesman, the modern university has production quotas to fill.

Curiously, it is the so-called 'professional' graduate programs (medicine, dentistry, optometry) that are maintaining very high entrance standards and there is no way to wheedle your way in or graduate if you don't score high enough. These may produce a new intellectual elite even as engineering and biology etc. decay.

But we've seen this at the highest levels: the elite go to fancy schools, and get fancy degrees, and they have no real problem solving skills because they have never been allowed to fail. Look at our foreign policy, for decades it's been failure after failure, and the people in charge are not ashamed but go from career success to career success. And all these Wall Street bankers that completely run their enterprises into the ground, and get bailed out and subsidized no matter what. This is not really 'progressive,' it is I think more accurate to say that it is a corruption of the elites. One simple explanation would be that blacks somehow underperform on IQ tests.

That's an interesting idea, especially since academic measures seem to indicate the opposite effect.
    https://www.mindingthecampus.org/2010/09/02/the_underperformance_problem/

Less well known is what in the scholarly literature is called “the underperformance problem.” Once in college blacks with the same entering SAT scores as whites and Asians earn substantially lower grades over their college careers and wind up with substantially lower class rankings. This gap in grade performance, moreover, is not reduced by adding high school grades or socio-economic status to the criteria for matching students. Blacks equally matched with whites or Asians in terms of their entering scholastic credentials and socio-economic backgrounds simply do not perform as well as their Asian and white counterparts in college. And the degree of underperformance is often very substantial.

Regarding the original point: It is possible that the increased likelihood of discovering the optimal balance transfer strategy among blacks who have the same measured ability as whites …

My first thought for an explanation was that blacks tended to have more education than whites with the same IQ. But I'm not sure that is convincing, even to me.

Perhaps the blacks who have equivalent SAT scores as high school seniors have reached their peak intelligence at that age while whites and asians continue to develop and get smarter. Many blacks certainly reach their physical peak sooner than whites. Maybe their mental peak as well.

In other words, he was in the process of dying prior to the arrival of the police. When the police recognized his condition they called for medics. Floyd was restrained on his stomach according to protocol.

So the protocol is to 'help' a man needing medical attention by kneeling on his neck and back until his heart stops and his body goes limp...?

Yeah, that makes perfect sense in the bizzarro universe...

Btw...fentanyl is used at up 20 to ng/ml as a general anesthetic in surgery...that is twice the amount Floyd had in his system...and patients don't die, in fact they wake up, despite this level being kept up throughout the procedure to keep the patient under...

Also the 5.6 ng/ml norfentanyl is an inactive metabolite, so it is not counted as part of some 'new math' to get to a 'fentanyl level' of 19 ng/ml...

Also, many medical studies showing fentanyl overdoses that survived with over 100 ng/ml blood level, ten times Floyd's level...

Also...PCR is NOT a doctor, yet he makes doctor-like assertions about what is a 'fatal' dose of fentanyl [actually all the medical literature says there is no MINIMUM fatal blood level of fentanyl, because it depends on the tolerance of the user]...and that Floyd was in the 'process of dying'...

When in fact all doctors who have spoken about this have said Floyd showed NO SIGNS of going into overdose, which is basically nodding off...the transcripts show him actively speaking to the police, so he was not passing out as would be expected in an overdose...

In the previous 'article' we had the FALSE INFORMATION that the Hennepin County Medical Examiner supposedly did not rule the death a homicide, when in fact he did...only this is, as per standard procedure, included in the death certificate, not the autopsy report...

I already told this 'author' to go ahead and talk to an actual forensic pathologist, or even an active medical examiner and ask them if they agree that he died of a drug overdose...why doesn't he do that...?

Surely PCR knows some doctors that would give him some expert information...?

In general anesthesia a patients airway is supported either by intubation or use of an Lma and their breathing is supported by artificial means, A ventilator in other words. Otherwise they would die, just like George Floyd did. In addition, “up to” means that may be the extreme high end of a dosage, usually less. You obviously know only the incomplete information you’ve read regarding fentanyl use in medicine.

    That's not what anesthesiologists say...

Can you be under general anesthesia without being intubated?

Certainly. Endotracheal intubation is required for some operations (especially laparoscopy or other abdominal surgery) but completely unnecessary for others. There are also patient-dependent factors (morbid obesity, full stomach, abnormal airway, etc.) that might make intubation more likely for general anesthesia (GA).

Also laryngeal mask airway [LMA] is NOT the same as intubation or ventilation, nor is it any kind of artificially supported breathing...

In most cases the patient under anesthesia will breathe just fine on his own...

Do you breathe on your own under general anesthesia?

    Sometimes.

General anesthesia means you don’t move when someone cuts your skin and operates on you. Many times we can do this without controlling respiration.

...the breathing need to be looked after, supported or taken over at times in general anesthesia. We monitor the patients oxygen carbon dioxide along with the other vitals and that helps us to decide wether we leave it on your own or help you to breath better!

So your assertion is obviously wrong...being under anesthesia, the patient continues breathing on his own in many types of procedures...

I agree. It is pretty obvious. In Kiev, they are drawing up a list of some 13 oligarchs (most of them Jewish). They plan to dispossess them of their plunder and to hand it over to the Rothschilds. It is a largely civil war among Jews at the pinnacle of the Ukrainian economy.

From the point of view of the collective West, the Ukrainian oligarchy has fulfilled its historic mission and must leave. The battle with the oligarchs unfolding in Ukraine is an order from the West, which is clearing the Ukrainian platform for its capital. The Rothschild family is showing an increased interest in Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began the process of de-oligarchization in the country. A special law is already being actively prepared, which will determine the "status of an oligarch." And the National Security and Defense Council counted 13 persons in Ukraine who fall under the criterion of an oligarch. According to the economic adviser to the president, Oleg Ustenko, “a certain group of stakeholders, mostly oligarchs, have been trying for many years to“ preserve the situation in Ukraine ”by developing their own business and creating barriers to entry for others. "Others" have long been showing interest in Ukraine.

Financiers from the Rothschild family are so far known in Ukraine mainly for the fact that the Rothschild Trust Schweiz AG company took over the business assets of former President Poroshenko, and the financial vultures willingly bought up Ukrainian sovereign debts in favor of the Rothschilds. But in fact, the Rothschilds had their eyes on the whole of Ukraine.

The Rothschild banking house became an international financial empire through war, espionage and secrecy. For over a century, the Rothschild business was completely opaque, providing ample food for rumors.

Oh, no, I agree with you. I was just posting a variety of points. You could actually add to your case. Blacks now tend to be fatherless, weren’t so under segregation, for example. Justice Thomas said his black school was perfectly good, not that he was defending segregation. Southern whites had them going to church, keeping marriages, holding jobs.

I actually saw a smart black get into Harvard; he was the only black in the top classes at a public high school, and this was not a separate school, half black school, one gets in the top. I dunno how he compared. We all know the standards are lower. I’m from a very black area. So, I see, or hear of, successful blacks, to the extent they exist. I mean I see every aspect of race y’all discuss, including miscegenation. I also see the black towns where people don’t work. (And if I keep posting so much here, I might fit that category soon enough.)

I dunno if you saw it, but there is an Unz article here arguing that some blacks, from Africa, achieve better than British whites. That fascinated me. I’ve never seen that argued elsewhere.

Medical doctors and dentists are very selective. You can be an idiot lawyer; tough to be an idiot doctor. However, they do focus more on grades now, which aren’t as selective racially. I love hearing the feedback. Maybe I feel I’m serving some cause sharing info. Mostly my comment on the couple was regarding Atlanta I guess. Fascinating they’d hold the wedding there.

They seem to do routine work. So, they're very good at the same-old. However, when you want a genius doctor is when you have something that isn't routine.

They care for druggies and the overweight mostly. I realise there are multiple professions, but some people destroy their health. It's not even genetics, and you hear a lot of doctors talk about that.

If you have something that isn't routine, you probably do want to filter doctors. It takes intelligence to do well, but it doesn't require a lack to do poorly; so, I'll just talk with different doctors whenever I have some health issue.

And yea, obviously, affirmative action makes patients mistrust black doctors.

Remember the Afghanistan debacle, followed closely by the formation of AUKUS and the stiffing of France over a submarine construction contract?

The Ukraine affair will be yet another debacle. Stiffing the French will be seen as a gust front to the withdrawal of the US from Europe, AKA cutting Europe loose. It may even be that the Ukraine affair is just a deliberate way of demonstrating a US break from Europe.

After the US/Europe break, Germany (economically dominant power in the EU) will make the best deal it can with the CIS, and the rest of Europe will follow in a disorganized way. US imposed social policies will be discarded, possibly over a generation of two, possibly within a week.

    You’re very optimistic !

Yes, the scenario is one of the optimistic ones. One of my failures is that I've been consistently over-optimistic for several decades, and perhaps I'm being over-optimistic in my original post (https://www.unz.com/pescobar/this-is-how-the-u-s-does-dialogue/#comment-5118012).

Here's why the original post is optimistic, at least according in Mackinder's frame of geopolitics:

    1. An Oceanic power cannot stand against a united and pacified Asia. An Oceanic power can only prevail against a Continental power (as in the Napoleonic Wars) because the Continental power has to support large armies to protect itself against neighbors. The truth of that was demonstrated in WW I, when the UK tried deploying its own armies against the Central Powers. Oceanic powers can win with Marines and Continental allies, but no with armies deployed on the Continent itself.

    2. The US is an obligate Oceanic power. It can win against a divided Asia that is preoccupied with internal problems and thus unable to finance large naval and expeditionary land forces because it must have very large armies and very large internal security forces. Example: England vs. China, Opium Wars. The Oceanic power cannot win against an Asia that is peaceful internally and can therefore finance larger naval and expeditionary land forces than can the smaller Oceanic power. Example: Imperial Germany came within a hair of having naval forces superior to the UK's during WW I.

    3. Therefore, the US long term strategic goal must be to ensure at least two contending powers on the Asian mainland. Right now you have perhaps two: PRC/CIS and Republic of India, plus various aggressively neutral powers, plus a the EU, which is a US foothold.
The PRC has apparently classified the Republic of India as its obligate inferior militarily, and is engaged in diverting the headwaters if the subcontinent of India's rivers to the PRC. Should that succeed, it is doubtful that Republic of India would recover in the foreseeable future.
That would leave the PRC with no peer competitors save the EU backed by the US, and a comparatively weak CIS whose strength is in natural resources and high tech weapons. Over the mid term (say, 3 -5 decades), the CIS would become a subject ally, and the US will abandon the EU and withdraw into itself to settle internal affairs.
This would lead to a long term (5-10 decades) defeat of the US as the PRC enough of Asia to permit construction of larger naval and expeditionary land forces than could the US, the smaller Oceanic power.

    4. Therefore: A competent geopolitical thinker would try to build an alliance countervailing that of the PRC and its subject allies, and the only one possible is that of Western Europe (for industry) and CIS (for resources and weapons). Each needs the other. Without that alliance, the PRC will eventually become the new world superpower.

    5. I would not have believed that the State Department could have competent geopolitical thinkers. However, AUKUS must have been planned and agreed upon at least when former President Trump decided to withdraw US forces in Afghanistan, and which plans were executed after the President Biden debacle made any future US influence in Eurasia very unlikely, hence maintenance of NATO impossible in the near term.** The lack of regard for NATO compared to AUKUS was demonstrated by France withdrawing its Ambassador to the US for the first time since 1776.*** These actions are consistent with encouragement of a CIS/EU (German) alliance, which, long term would divide Eurasia into two contending powers -- and the world into an Oceanic power on the seas and two powers in Eurasia.

    6. Or, maybe, I'm just being overly optimistic. Perhaps we simply have a demonstration that not even the State Department can get it wrong every time.

** “Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted.” W. Churchill apocryphal quote.

Conservatism is trash, indeed. Not to draw away from that, but the way the left creeps away from what its causes is about the same rate that the dumbass republicans cede ground to anything and anyone.

I don't know why metropolitan news stations even dare to interview the leftist stooges who own nichy small businesses in a gentrified part of town, but they do. Currently, the just allow them to their concern (they're not allowed to oppose, just be concerned) with bum encampments and essentially no cops nearby. Things of that nature.

I assume the neighborhood around their silly coffee shop is hosed when I see segments like that. But I can tell these people are slowly resenting the pound 0' flesh they have to hand over to keep on whatever satanic metro they live in's "good side". These are the same people who willingly let their streets closed for some annual faggot march a decade ago and assumed they were on the up and up with the authorities. • I’ve been watching a few of the Timeline documentaries on Youtube with Tony Robinson, specifically the ones where he describes the various jobs the English peasants have held throughout different periods of history. A brutal rural existence. It was interesting to see how jobs changed as new innovations were discovered. People eventually left the countryside and flocked to the cities in search of work during the Industrial Revolution. They lived in filth and disease, whole families crowded into small dwellings. The elites didn’t care; they only cared that the engines kept running.

One episode was on the Peasant Revolt of 1381. The poor peasants had just suffered through the Plague, which killed half of Europe, and now there was a shortage of workers. The elites knew the peasants would want to leave (because they now had power) in search of better work, so the elites passed laws prohibiting them from leaving the Manor (I believe) where they had been essentially slaves, and they also put a freeze on wages (to prevent the workers from benefiting from higher wages). They also levied a new Poll Tax on the people in order to pay for the never-ending war with France. This was too much for the peasants and they revolted, marched on London, with a few necessary beheadings along the way (tax collectors, lawyers, elites).

The elites have learned over the centuries to never allow the people to get into a position of power. Patriotism or nationalism is a direct threat to the elites, especially when it’s not coming from them. It signifies solidarity, a kinship among the people. That’s why they’ve come down hard on the January 6th “insurrectionists”, keeping them in solitary confinement for over a year, and sending a message that this is what happens when you dare to question anything the elites do.

In the past the elites were exclusionary because…well, there was always a fight going on between the British and the Spanish or the British and the French. They needed the people to have a strong sense of patriotism, of belonging, in order to get them to pay for and fight and die in their useless wars. The elites were NOT united; it was one country against another country.

But today the elites of the world ARE united (most of them). If world leaders don’t play along, they will be sanctioned or assassinated (czars, kaisers). This Left/Right paradigm is nothing but a show. There is no difference between Liberals and Conservatives; they are on the same page – the elites against the people. If high amounts of immigration and inflation hold the people down, that’s what they’re going to do. It benefits them in a monetary sense (cheap labor) and a control sense (no nationalist sentiment can develop).

“It is childish nonsense to say that a British government rules Britain. It’s nothing to do with British government or the British people. The government of the world is the financial government; the power of money; and of money alone.”

Our elected leaders are not leaders at all; they are being directed by the financial governors who sit above them. I hope these traitorous leaders are being paid well. One thing is for sure: they don’t care about us. How many Conservative leaders are protesting the U.S./Mexico border invasion?

These financial movers and shakers are leading us toward a one-world government where people will be consumers, and that’s all they’ll be. A product to be inventoried, complete with health passports, location trackers, surveillance and digital finance. Of course, we’ll be told that this is all for our own safety, our own good, just like we were told globalization would benefit us. All lies.

The tide is coming in slowly, just so we don’t notice. We must find a way to combat this insanity. I did not bring children into the world for this.
