I was in a movie with kirk douglas…in 1980….but I didn’t even know about it till 25 years later or so…

then in about 2005 or so I watched a movie called the final countdown..starring kirk douglas and martin sheen…it was about an aircraft carrier in 1980 that got caught in a time warp storm and went back to world war 2 and had a confrontation with the japanese planes that were about to bomb pearl harbor…the aircraft carrier used in the movie was the uss nimitz, as was evident from the number painted on the flight deck….

I enjoyed the movie and went online to rate it, and while I was reading some trivia about the movie I discovered that for one of the final scenes, where the ship was coming into pearl harbor at the end, the uss kitty hawk was used instead of the nimitz…I thought, hey, the movie was made in 198o, and I was aboard the kitty hawk in 1980!

…so I went back and looked at the movie, and sure enough there at the end of the movie where the ship was sailing past the pearl harbor memorial, there was a line of sailors in dress whites at parade rest on the starboard bow!…the camera was apparently located in a helo flying at a distance from the ship…one of those sailors was me…

so…I was in a movie with kirk douglas…
