RSSJune 8,2017 marked the 50th anniversary of the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty and the deaths of 34 US crewmen. I couldn’t find any mention of it last year. Why not?
The only way for Mr. Putin to change Americans’ opinion of Russia would be to address us on American tv. Mr. Trump should of course speak on Russian tv.
An excellent summation. Even if one doesn’t fully believe the official narrative this discussion still flies.
Only thing Venezuela ever did to us was send free heating oil to Massachusetts a few years ago. Leave them (and everyone else) alone for godsake.
I read somewhere that after the fall of France, Stalin told his inner circle: “I smell a rat.” He thought that the elites in the West knew that Hitler would attack France to avenge Versailles; that there was no way to dissuade Hitler from doing so; that the attack would result in a bloody stalemate (again); and that the USSR would then move in and pick up the pieces. The only way to avoid such a calamity (never mind the deaths, capitalism itself was under threat), was to avoid the bloody stalemate. Hence the gaping hole in the Ardennes. ( It has always seemed inconceivable to me that not one spy or Luxemberger with a radio or one observation aircraft wouldn’t have spotted the thousands of German armored vehicles, fuel and ammunition dumps etc across the border.) France would keep its colonies and a government (albeit Vichy). Germany would then be free to follow Mein Kampf and “turn its gaze to the East” ( ie, destroy the USSR).
Just like England and France in 1939 gave Poland a blank check.
In addition to attending the May 9th commemorations, Trump could improve relations by honoring Vassili Arkhipov, a senior officer aboard a Soviet sub off the Cuban coast on Oct. 27, 1962. American ships were closing in and the sub was incommunicado. Believing WWlll had begun, two of the three senior officers aboard inserted their keys to launch a nuclear tipped torpedo. Officer Arkhopov did not, likely preventing a nuclear war.
Everyone should know how close we came to WWlll.
One country has benefited mightily from the destruction of Iraq, Syria, Libya and, soon, Iran – namely Israel. Those countries all strongly supported the Palestinians. The “neocons”- Wolfowitz, Perle, Abrams, Kagan, Dershowitz et al – got what they wanted. Draw your own conclusions.
Although I am glad no politicians were killed, I believe millions of us were not unhappy to see our bought and sold politicians scurrying to safety in their underground tunnels.
