The reason why Germany sent its force against France was the Declaration of War by France on Sept. 3, 1939. Hitler made several attempts for France to withdraw the Declaration of War, but to no avail. Instead, France was also conspiring with England to occupy Norway, thus expand the war rather than limit it.
Hence: Hitler did not attack France because of the shameful behavior of France at Versailles, he rather tried to make peace with France, even renouncing the German provinces which France had taken and when Germany took them back in 1871 was fuming about this loss of a war booty from 1683 (I am talking of Elsaß-Lothringen).
Hitler had no choice but to defeat a power that was ready to attack at any time. Hitler did not want war with France or England. They wanted war. The conciliatory behavior of Germany while in France is sufficient evidence for this and the will to end an unnecessary tension between France and Germany.
The war with France and England did, however, open a great opportunity for the Bolsheviks under Stalin to contemplate a conquest of all of Europe, as its strength was drained through the war.
It is evident: England in particular, and then France was ruled by self-indulgent, luxury-loving people of limited intelligence and imagination, all they could fixate on was the worm-eaten "German Peril", the career well-spring not only for Winston Churchill. That stupid actions (such as declaring a war for no defensible reason) might have consequences (such as the Red Army being not 1000, but 100 miles away from their frontiers, and that only due to the sacrifices of Germany, otherwise Hammer and Sickle banners would have flown from the English Parliament in London), did not enter these peoples' minds.
Clearly neither the leaders of England, nor of France, nor of America (i.e., Roosevelt) had a mind for the consequences of unleashing a war lightly,-and I am putting all responsibility for the war on the leadership of these three powers.

Except that the U.S., AFAIK, has no treaty with the Zionist State, at least for now.

The difference is that Britain and France saw Germany as an economic threat. No one sees Iraq, Iran, Syria, or Lebanon as an economic threat.
