RSS“there’s a paper on data compression which claims it might be feasible to reduce the size of the raw sequence output to ~4 MB”
The paper seems valid on the face of it, though it would be more accurate to say that they are claiming to encode the set of differences between an arbitrary genome and the human reference genome in 4 MB of data. Direct compression would take closer to 500 MB.
“I imagine a full genome sequence will be part of mandatory maternity care insurance.”
And I imagine that there will be a massive underground industry that involves extracting DNA from 10 week old fetuses and sequencing it. It will be officially banned in every developed country, but it will be practiced anyway. Rich people will be able to combine sequencing with IVF by creating 100 embryos and picking the one with the most desirable genetic code.
I wonder how much space is needed to encode just the _functional_ features of the genome, excluding silent mutations, irrelevant mutations in non-coding RNA, etc, and accounting for correlations between SNPs. Could be as little as 10-20 KB.
Can you point me to a site where I can find multiple fully sequenced human genomes? I’m familiar with UCSC Genome Browser web site, but I couldn’t find that kind of information there.
I doubt that any visible drop in IQ due to dysgenics will be noticeable for a while, maybe its effects will kick in after a generation or two.
My take on why IQ seems to be dropping in countries such as Norway is -not counting the real effect immigrants have- that the smarter young native Norwegians prefer to expend their brainpower in videogames (which btw are much more complex, time consuming and information heavy than Pacman 40 years ago) and don’t bother at all with primitive looking IQ tests or their variants; after all, they already know they’re smart.
Two different things.
prefer to expend their brainpower in videogames... and don’t bother at all with primitive looking IQ tests or their variants
Generally true, except that it can be very depressing to browse through curricula on offer at homeschool fairs. The dumbing-down seems to get steadily and perceptibly worse with time.

It's here now.

Most advanced countries have had dysgenic welfare states for the better part of a century. That's enough time to see an effect: at least two generations for Ice People and three or more generations for Sun People.Replies: @YetAnotherAnon

The earth only looks flat to one who lacks the proper point of view. Likewise, the universe only looks like it’s expanding because one cannot see that it’s actually rotating or circulating hyperdimensionally. This satisfies the notion that there is no ‘beyond’ because the interior and exterior of an environment of at least four dimensions are one and the same thing. If one could see a distant future one might notice that the only differences are superficial, different stars in different locations but much the same as now. This noneuclidean flow of the cosmos will continue for eternity. No big bangs, no big crunches and no paradoxes.
The difference between the promoted opposition you are noticing and the flat earth psy-op is that nobody really believes the earth is flat. Some sort of think tank troll army appears to have been behind a disinformation campaign a few years back seemingly aimed at convincing people that the earth is flat, but actually aimed at convincing people that there are people who believe the earth is flat. The purpose of the flat earth psy-op is simply to tar all conspiracy theorists with the same brush, even though there aren’t really any flat earthers. And now whenever anyone tries to discuss any conspiracy theory somebody always says “you probably think the earth is flat”.
You may want to update your article to change ” China and Russia will….” to ” China will…”. I would like to know once Iran falls and the Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the UAE oil and gas are not readily available , how soon will Russia stab China in the back.
From the Chinese perspective it would be the end of their Belt and Road Initiative. Iran was the central piece. And they would lose their major development investments in Iran. Consequently they seem to have more or less accepted that they’re going to have to fight the Western Zio-Globalist mafia.Although Iran has joined China's BRI, Iran has its own infrastructure initiative called INSTC which awarded the Chabahar Port plus a highway project to India. As Hua Bin has said, this bizarre act of cozying up to Modi's India has ended up betraying Iran's own national security and strategic interest as India has sided with Israel in its war against Iran. Besides, China's most important BRI partner is Pakistan whose CPEC project is its biggest BRI project. Not only that, Pakistan is also China's biggest strategic defense partner in the world, having helped the Pakistanis co-develop its JF-17 which is now being exported to other Muslim countries such as Azerbaijan. That Shiite Iran which presents itself as the defender of Sunni Muslims in Palestine could choose Modi's India as its 'strategic partner' is either stupidity or naivete. After all, Modi's India is a well-known lackey of the West and shameless asslicker of Zionist Israel. The Iranian Mullahs must have known that the Hindutva Indians have been waging an anti-Muslim campaign against the Sunni Muslims in India and Kashmir for a decade and even fought a brief war against the Sunni Muslims in Pakistan. This goes to show that Iran's failed foreign policy is not China's fault.Replies: @Miro23, @nameless

Could it be due to corruption ?
Don't forget Paper and Porcelain!
Let’s start with gunpowder, invented by the Chinese in the 9th century.
Last I checked, NVDIA’s Jensen Huang is genetically Chinese. TSMC is also established by the Chinese. If you have 25 cents in your pocket and someone, a Chinese !!!, st0le it , you wont have 25 cents anymore . That is why you have no hypersonic missiles.
Chinese doctors set timers, so that they will give their patients a set time instead of time require for real health care.
My god damned family doctor in the US does that to me all the time. He would not answer even a simple question at the end of the visit and demand a separate appointment. EVERYTIME. Fxcking S-hole.
Hua Bin should follow up on this article with another one on the relationship between Iran and China in the past two decades. I got curious and searched a bit. What I found surprised and angered me and changed my view of Iran greatly. Iran took China for a fool and repeatedly cheated and back stabbed China.
Fortunately, China really does not need Iran. Petroleum accounts for 20% of China’s energy need and Iran is but one of the many that supply China.
I did not want post this comment but Iran is just too much.
Care to share those sources here?
