An attack on Lvov seems highly unlikely. It would be difficult to resupply, harder to provide air support out of western Belarus, so Russian troops and planes could be exposed to NATO air power, if NATO wants to risk that.

The more conventional attack would be toward Kharkov, with the intent to surround the city and push towards the Dnieper with the ultimate objective of cutting off all Ukrainian forces to the east and south of that drive. It could be supplemented by a secondary attack up the Dnieper from the south, depending on Russia's supply-situation there.

The reason this makes sense is that 1) far easier resupply. Belgorod is a major Russian city just north of the border with Kharkov. 2) Belgorod-Kharkov-Dnieper river is the shortest route to surround the bulk of Ukrainian forces and it has bigger and better roads than from Sumy to the Dnieper 3) it's harder for NATO to hit such an attack with missiles/airpower (should it come to that).

It does make sense for Russia to hit the Ukraine's main supply routes (Lvov-Kiev-eastward), but that could more easily be accomplished by attacking Kiev from the north, or perhaps somewhere slightly east or west of there.

Russia's strategic objective should be to surround and capture 10,000s of Ukrainian troops and then take whatever areas they think they need.

Of course, all of this will depend on what ZOG does in the next couple months. Imposing "No fly zone", blowing up pipelines/bridges, overthrowing governments... so really who knows.
