From my understanding, some of the so called "death camps" were actually constructed by the Soviets two years AFTER the war.

Actually you do have a point, Russia is only geared up for total war, Russia is not geared up for proxy terrorism, colour revolution, economic blockade, and propaganda.

America is obsessed with handguns, when asked why Russia only concerns itself with rifles and not with handguns, a Russia General responded with rifles win wars. The latest T-72 variant features the same gun and fire control system as the T-14, so its better than the T-14. It can be manufactured much more cheaply and there are lots of rusting T-72 hulls lying around waiting to be resurrected across the former USSR. A tank is only supposed to fire like 20 rounds on average before getting knocked out in high intensity warfare anyway.

Proxy terrorism didn't work against the total warfare ideology, Chechnya proved that. In Syria a few Russian planes and lots of Iranians took care of ISIS, so much so that the US and Turkey had to step in and occupy Syrian land to protect the last vestiges of their proxy's. Colour Revolutions only work when there is hesitantly in taking a strong hand against civilians, the USSR historically did not have that problem, so neither should Russia. Economic blockades do work, but only if the target country is dependent on imports and exports, Russia does not have that problem, Russia is self sufficient. I suppose this is the only area where China is of benefit to Russia, Russia has 40 year long gas contracts with China. Propaganda is also something that only works when there is hesitantly in taking a strong hand against civilians, the USSR historically did not have that problem, so neither should Russia. Kicking the ngo’s out of Russia helped a great deal against the propaganda and colour revolutions, Putin’s ratings are still in the 70 or 80%’s.

But Russia is too peaceful, they should have taken a much more active role against the US in Afghanistan, they could have at least supplied the Taliban with weaponry that would have made the American lives a bit more difficult, but they didn't. Yet the Americans are leaving Afghanistan anyway, so maybe Russia's lack of offensive initiative is because it is not necessary. I don't think the Russian people can do offense, they only seem to wake up when its a defensive war when Russia is attacked.

Yes, the USSR and the Russian Empire occupied largely the same space on Earth, but so did the Byzantine Empire and Turkey, yet Turkey is not the Byzantine Empire.

The USSR was a Jewish-Marxist Empire that killed millions of Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians and others. It was not the "Russian Empire, which they were calling the Soviet Union for a while".
