Steve I noticed your article on Accutane. I have a son that is 18 1/2 and he has given up on everything. I took him to an immunologist to figure out what is going on. The doctors all say he has a low level of testosterone. I feel for him because he needs to get back to normal. The doctors said to wait but the level of 190 is low and he doesn’t feel like he should. He was on accutane for 1 yr when he was 16 1/2. It worked on his face but was it worth it. What should i do?

Most women are too wimpy to handle the abuse they get online. Even compliments sometimes come across as brusque insults, since they’re often semi-sarcastic.

I’ve developed a fairly thick skin, but it is still penetrable and I’ll lapse into a brief funk following a particularly nasty exchange. (Men are supposed to be logical, but how does “You’re ugly and need to get laid — so I’ll rape you” make sense, exactly…?)

But I’ve been at this too long to quit now.

In the ’50s and ’60s we were a manufacturing powerhouse. We had a prosperous middle class and a talented and highly skilled working class. We had affordable higher education. We had powerful unions. We had a steeply graduated income tax structure. We were putting an end to racism and poverty. The unemployment rate was low. We were committed to taking care of the very old and the very young. We were committed to the preservation of western culture.
What have we now? Bubbles and crashes and billionaires. Cell phones (made in China). Dub’ya. Minimum wage service economy (where we have employment at all). How anyone can look at this and fail to see decline is beyond me.

I really liked this movie ! The plot was adequate, the acting, also. What was awesome was the whole visual aspect . The Chinese warriors and their complicated and beautiful techniqes for fighting the dragons were creative and colorful. I would have preferred dragons with wings, but I can see that would have changed everything.

Anyway, it was a beautiful visual spectacle.

In this TV series, as it plays out, the only purpose in US empire living is to acquire money and material goods, and to beat out the competition. And in both cases, there is no way of arresting this pattern. Rather, the system has to die.
