Regional nation states do not want war. The danger is an accident or incident outside of the nations control initiating conflict and escalating it. Israel is unlikely to preemptively attack Iran, and Iran is unlikely to overtly attack Israel. Sure the US needs to have contingency plans for an escalating mideast conflict, but hopefully we also have contingency plans to help diffuse incidents and agreements between the larger powers like Russian and the US to avoid being dragged into war that nobody wants except the crazies.

Preemptive war has been shown to remove those state sponsors of terrorism, reduce terrorist recruits, and gain the hearts and minds of the people liberated by those bombs that don’t actually hit them personally. Peace the old fashioned way is more than a bumper sticker on air force vehicles, it is a tried and true method to reduce the cost of conflict and discourage terrorism. Iraq and Afghanistan are the proven examples by which we should encourage the direction of our foreign policy, even though so many defense and security contractors will have to survive on depleted funding due to the expedience of preemptive airstrikes. Call that bluff!

But on the subject of eugenics, which this essay does not seem to address much, it is likely that chinese are very diligently pursueing the genetics and nurture of the human for the specific goal of improving intelligence, physical ability and even social skills. Besides the selection and planned ordering they evolved to allow survival of their civilization, the chinese, especially their military, are undoubtedly pursueing eugenics to produce superior soldiers. While many americans argue evolution and bible stories, and still consider much of scientific fact, much less scientific promise, as some kind of sci-fi fantasy or horror, the chinese have no such obstacles to attempting to direct their own evolution vs accepting a multiply transcribed and translated subjective argueable and often contradictory plan from diety as their destiny. As to evolution? It can happen practically over night, especially cultural and technological evolution. Seen any androids communicating great distances lately? Did they say hi as they walked by?

I’m also kind of put out that a right wing stand would rest on the right of a young operative to decide for the rest of the country what was best, in order to justify using his access to reveal what so many said was in the national interest to keep a secret. Sounds allot like that GOP political strategy that claims ideology follows political advantage in everything other than starving the beast.
