Ugh. The Perpetual Obama Campaign Machine is a 24/7/365 operation. This landed in my e-mail box yesterday from the money-grubbers at the DCCC.

Dear Michelle,

Last November, with the election of President Obama, we sent a clear message that people who love justice and respect democratic ideals can once again have faith in America.

President Obama and his new foreign policy team, led by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have hit the ground running and are showing the world that the real America – the best America– is back.

As the world watches a United States that is ready to once again lead in ways that reflect our highest values and our deepest hopes, it is incumbent upon us all to show how strongly we support President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress.

The DCCC has set a goal of raising $1 million in grassroots support by March 31st. This is the only FEC deadline during President Obama’s first 100 days. The world will use it as a report card on the President’s first months in office and an indication of how strongly we stand behind his agenda for change.

Contribute $5, $10, or more to the Democrats’ Million Dollar Match before midnight on March 31st. Your gift will be matched 2-to-1 by Democrats in Congress, tripling its impact.

Although in office only two months, President Obama has already moved to revive diplomatic efforts in support of peace, renounce torture, write an end to the shameful chapter of Guantanamo, begin the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, and find a solution to global climate change. Each day, he is sending a message that America wants to work as a partner with friends around the world in order to build a future based on law, justice, human rights, and a commitment to peace.

The president is doing his part; we need to do ours. It is essential that we show our early support for this profound and much-needed change to our foreign policy.

Please show your early support for President Obama and Democrats in Congress. Contribute $5, $10, or more to the Democrats’ Million Dollar Match before midnight on March 31st. Your gift will be matched 2-to-1 by Democrats in Congress, tripling its impact.

As President Obama said in his victory speech on Election Night last November, “a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.”

Please show the world how united we stand as Democrats and as Americans behind our new President and our new Congress in their fight to reclaim America’s role as a force for prosperity and peace around the world.

Sincerely,

Madeleine K. Albright

P.S. The world is watching. Everyone in the media will use our March 31st totals as a report card on President Obama and House Democrats’ efforts to bring needed change to our foreign policy. Support the Democrats’ Million Dollar Match by Midnight on March 31st. Your gift will be matched 2-to-1, tripling its impact.

A few hours later, a nearly identical appeal was sent in Nancy Pelosi’s name:

Dear Michelle,

Now is the time to act.

In less than 72 hours, the first FEC quarterly fundraising deadline will hit. It will be viewed by the media and many political analysts as a critical first test of President Obama’s political strength.

To demonstrate to the world the grassroots support for the President, my friends and colleagues at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) have launched a Million Dollar Matching Gift Campaign. Their goal is to raise $1 million by midnight Tuesday.

Your contribution of $5, $10 or more to the Democrats’ Million Dollar Match before midnight on March 31st will be matched 2-to-1 by Democrats in Congress, tripling the impact of your donation.

ORDER IT NOW

In the less than 100 days, Democrats have made significant progress in righting our economy, strengthening middle class families and ensuring children have access to high-quality health care. But there is a great deal of hard work left to do to move America in a New Direction. And, we urgently need your help.

The best step you can take right now to move America in a New Direction is to support the DCCC’s Million Dollar Matching Gift Campaign.

Your contribution of $5, $10 or more to the Democrats’ Million Dollar Match before midnight on March 31st will be matched 2-to-1 by Democrats in Congress, tripling the impact of your donation.

The Democratic Party has always stepped up to lead America at times of great need. Today, Democrats have again been called upon to provide leadership at a crucial moment in our nation’s history.

With the support and commitment of Democrats like you, I am confident America will emerge from this challenging time stronger and more united than ever before.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pelosi

Speaker of the House

P.S.: Midnight on March 31st will be a critical milestone in the first 100 days of President Obama’s administration. Please demonstrate your commitment when it matters most by supporting the DCCC’s Million Dollar Match Campaign. Contribute now.

I think between the bailouts and the porkulus and the looming budget, not to mention the $6 billion GIVE/SERVE Act, plus the trillions to be spent on health care and cap and trade, we’ve “contributed” quite enough.
