A clarification concerning your post on Emmanuel Rahm’s illegal basement apartment. (http://michellemalkin.com/2009/02/05/rahm-zoning-rules-for-thee-but-not-for-me/) It’s not the responsibility of the tenant to make sure that their home is properly zoned — it’s the responsibility of the landlord. So, your story should be aimed at Rep. DeLauro, not Rahm Emmanuel. He may not have known the status of the home he was living in, nor is there a legal requirement that he should. As a D.C. resident and renter myself, I know full well that many landlords do not have their homes properly zoned for rental purposes. A clarification is in order, don’t you think?
