Judging by his photo, American Herald Tribune writer Michael Howard doesn’t look old enough to remember the 1960s and 1970s. But he seems fully up to speed on the propaganda “black legend” that’s been blasting out BS about Iran ever since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In this interview we discuss the insanity of American foreign policy, especially its mad infatuation with nuclear weapons and Zionism, its Iranophobia, and its clumsy aggression towards Russia and China, forcing those two nations to form an alliance against the declining US (ex-)hegemon.

Note: The American Herald Tribune has recently come under attack by “Mockingbird media” outlets The Washington Post and CNN. Read editor Anthony Hall’s response to the witch hunt targeting AHT.

  1. ” . . . treated them to following our overthrow of their first democratically elected leader in 1953.”

One of the great myths of political intrigue and a common refrain to highlight US bad is the above. And it is incorrect. While the Iranian Elite were grateful for the aide, they made were responsible for that coupe. They would have done so with or without help from the US or Great Britain.

And in the CIA after action report they rebut the level of effective aide the US provided.

  2. Sean says:

Mosaddeq began sidling up to the Americans and to curry favour with them he foolishly portrayed the danger of a communist takeover as much greater than it actually was. Britain told the US it needed the money from Iranian oil. It was Britain who encouraged Fazlollah Zahedi, who they had once held prisoner as a Nazi sympathizer, to mount a coup. The CIA went along with it.

The CIA provided money for the Iranian coup that put the Shah back in power at the behest of the British. The operation was designed by MI6’s George Kennedy Young, who was also a one of the small group advising Eden during the Suez adventure. After Suez MI5 was brought in to head MI6 and it was reorganised to restrict the influence that wild men could have. Ultimately, Sir Anthony Eden, the foreign secretary was of the opinion that Mosaddeq posed a serious threat to the UK’s strategic and economic interests. It should be remembered that Eden had his disastrous gall bladder operation earlier in 1953 so his judgement was affected by drug use and loss of sleep.
