Is it OK to celebrate the Taliban’s victory? It is if you live in Moscow!

Israel Shamir just published the delightfully politically-incorrect article “The Sheer Joy of Afghanistan.” He begins: “My congratulations, friends and readers! The Taliban’s victory is our victory, yours and mine. We, non-Muslim and non-Pashtun folk, in the US and Europe, may rejoice, for in Afghanistan, virile (not ‘toxic’) masculinity defeated gender-diversity, believers defeated those weak of faith, the morals of our fathers overcome the morals of our sons.”

He adds: “These armed peasants reminded us that we still can change the world. It is not necessary to submit. All the rules of the game could be re-written; the whole game could be dumped.”

Shamir is happy to see the Taliban banning lending at interest (usury, banned by Muslims as riba), cracking down on the drug trade, and re-establishing family values, Afghanistan style—hopefully without some of the excesses of the 1990s. He adds that Biden’s decision to withdraw rather than succumb to the pressure of military leaders and opinion-makers has raised his opinion of the otherwise unremarkable US president. (Trump, Shamir adds, also wanted to withdraw, but wasn’t competent enough to make it happen.)

Bottom line: Big news this good, and good news this big, rarely happens. Enjoy it while it lasts.

The descendent of Russian rabbis, Israel Shamir lived much of his life in Israel, where he converted to Christianity and the Palestinian cause. He currently resides in Moscow.

  1. HEAVEN IS THE LIMIT says Shamir.
Hear that Americans? All you have to do is again become no-interventionist. To do that you all have to throw away the phobia that you will be attacked by Muslims. Most Muslims are just like you, they love their daughters and sons and want them to marry good men and have kids.
I actually think a deal was signed by the Taliban and the US and the Taliban are sticking to the deal.
They will let all Americans and westerns leave but prevent the Afghanis who are educated from leaving.
I hope I’m right despite the leopard never changing it’s spots.

Why should I enjoy it that some Muslim primitive tribe is now back in control of an awful country?
Just now there was some bomb at the Kabul airport killing a few dozen people.
Well, it could be Mossad or CIA posing as Muslims (ISIS seems fake as hell).
But, it could also be other Muslims from a different tribe. Muslims tend to like bombs.

It’s not “my victory”, although I approve the removal of the American forces from the region. Now they need to be removed from Japan, Germany, Korea, etc.

    This is skew to reality.

The Afghanis breed like rodents, that’s the bottom line, that defines them.

When the US invaded, the population was about 20 million, and was starting to stabilize simply because they were running out of food.

After the US invaded, food aid was made available and the population exploded up again and approximately doubled to about 40 million.

You can scream “the more the merrier!” all you want, and quote from the lies of Milton Friedman and Paul Krugman, but more people are not GUARANTEED to produce more – but they are GUARANTEED to consume more.

Surely the US authorities noticed that the population of Afghanistan doubled, but – for whatever reason – the productive capacity of the society did not? Surely the US authorities realized that, despite massive US ‘investment’ and enforced gender studies, Afghanistan remained one of the poorest countries in the world? Surely the US authorities realize that in the next 20 years, the population of Afghanistan is set to double again to 80 million, and they can’t even feed the current population? Surely the US authorities realized that Afghanistan is completely dependent on US aid, and that cutting off this aid and freezing their bank accounts, will drive the population to starvation? Surely the US authorities realize that this will really turbo-charge the flood of ‘our loyal allies’ desperate to escape from Afghanistan?

    Suggestion: it’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

“Muslims tend to like bombs”. Re-read that and think about all the ordnance America, Britain and the EU has dropped in the last 100 years. Then when you got your head out of your arse, ask for forgiveness!!!

    @Rev. Spooner

The U.S. and the Taliban have done a deal alright, else why are the Taliban spokespersons wearing Covid masks?

It’s all window dressing, the U.S. is still busy assassinating potential leaders in opposition to the Taliban, same as they always have.

  6. Andreas says:

To rain on the parade is news coming from RT that the Turks are about to recognize the Taliban and sign a deal to manage the airport, along with Qatar. That’s tantamount to Kabul Airport being under 24 hour end-to-end surveillance by Israel. In conjunction with the as yet to be identified group who have been training this new Taliban, the remarkable level of cooperation with the US and the level to which US authorities have gone to not publicly denounce the Taliban or paint them as evil all suggest that there are more surprises ahead.

  7. @Dumbo

It is better if Afghanistan is governed by Afghans, not by freakish aliens from another continent.
Today, USer militants blew up a house in Kabul, killing a family of nine. Meanwhile the arse-end of USUK was also busy: extracting 15,000 UKers from where they shouldn’t be. And how is all this good for “israel”?
