Serbia has been racked for months by disruptive protests largely attributed to students, opposition leaders and university authorities. Are these organic protests?
Serbia is a small country which used to be a favorite of Western Allied powers like France and Britain for its heroic resistance to Austrian and German invasion in two world wars.
They liked it so much that in redrawing European boundaries at Versailles in 1918, they enlarged it into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes which later became Yugoslavia.
Some Serb leaders at the time felt that this was too much, but at the time, Croat and Slovene leaders were glad to leave the Austro-Hungarian Empire and join the winning side.
All this changed abruptly in the 1990s. Germany had been reunited and began to drop its humble post-World War II foreign policy. With German support and encouragement, the Yugoslav republics (states) of Slovenia and Croatia declared their independence, with the intention of joining the club of the rich: the European Union.
This shift enabled the two richest Yugoslav states to stop paying development funds for poorer regions such as Kosovo and to receive development funds from the EU. The debt crisis of the 1970s had strained relations among the republics.
But according to the secessionists, their sole motivation was to escape from “Serbian nationalism.” A great champion of this interpretation was the late Otto von Habsburg, an influential member of the European Parliament. As heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, dismantled as a result of World War I, he naturally held a personal grudge against Serbia.
As the Yugoslav disintegration grew confused and violent, Western media and government enthusiastically echoed the Habsburg line, not as such, but as defense of Western values and self-determination.
Western media put all the blame for everything on the Serbs, evoking the inevitable Hitler analogy to describe Serbia’s besieged leader, Slobodan Milosevic, as a “dictator” and to liken his failing efforts to keep Yugoslavia together with the Third Reich’s massive invasion of the rest of Europe.
“Heroic little Serbia” was transformed into the Pariah of the Western World.
A Nation in Limbo
The concrete result of the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia was to transform the “defensive” alliance into an aggressive force; to deliver the historic Serbian province of Kosovo to armed ethnic Albanians; and to build an enormous U.S. military base in the province.
But NATO nations framed it as conspiratorial to say that such were the aims of the NATO bombing. No, the official purpose was “the right to intervene” on grounds of human rights, to “save the Kosovars” from a “genocide” that was never a real possibility. That’s what everyone in the West has been told, over and over.
NATOland and “Western values” do not — not any longer — dominate the whole world. But Serbia is situated, geographically and psychologically, in the West.
Serbia was part of Yugoslavia, an independent, nonaligned socialist country, not part of the Soviet bloc. But Serbs have an historic friendship with Russia, as fellow Orthodox Christians, dating back to Serbia’s struggle to free itself from the Ottoman Empire. Serbs are in fact torn between, or attached to, both East and West.
They are in a perfect situation to be friends with everyone, which is what the current government in Belgrade of President Alexander Vucic is trying to do.
From its history and natural inclinations, Serbia should be a bridge between East and West.
Vucic was elected president of Serbia in 2017 and he and his Serbian Progressive Party have won a number of elections since by wide majorities. His economic development policies have made a bad situation better.
After Western companies took over Serbian industries only to shut them down, Vucic has welcomed Chinese investments which are reviving Serbian industrial production and mining. The economic growth rate accelerated to a comfortable 3.9 percent in 2024. Higher education for students who pass entrance exams is free, and Serbian universities enjoy high international ratings.
In contrast to its neighbors, Serbs are staying in their native land, while others are leaving. (Bosnia Herzegovina has lost half of its population to emigration, relatively prosperous Montenegro 24.4 percent, North Macedonia 31.6 percent and Serbia only 7 percent, indicating that life prospects there are relatively promising.)
Serbia’s relations with China have long been friendly and profitable. Vucic’s foreign policy tries to balance between East and West, but the rise in hostility between the EU and Russia makes this difficult.
But the same Western supremacists who destroyed the natural “bridge” function of Ukraine by insisting on its “NATO destiny” are working to subvert all potential bridges to Russia — distant Georgia, Moldova and nearby Serbia.
As an applicant to join the European Union, Serbia is kept under constant observation to see whether it is adapting to EU standards, economic and political. To satisfy Brussels, Vucic has supplied weapons to Ukraine but refuses to enforce sanctions against Russia, which provides Serbia with gas.
He has rejected EU demands to recognize the independence of Kosovo, as any Serbian leader must do to remain in office until tomorrow. But his domestic critics consider him not tough enough.
Vucic defied EU threats by flying to Moscow to attend the May 9 ceremonies celebrating the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany’s war of conquest. Otherwise, he would have been hotly condemned at home for slavish subservience to the EU. Instead, his enemies can cry “Putin’s puppet.”
Josip Tito’s policy of nonalignment was a great success and Vucic appears to emulate the former Yugoslavian leader’s approach. But his balancing act exposes him to criticism from both sides.
Protests Against…Whatever
Strangely, for months Serbia has been rocked by massive student protests and blockades, not over foreign policy or over any specific government policies, but primarily in response to tragic events with no obvious political significance.
In Belgrade on May 3, 2023, a 13-year-old boy armed with pistols and Molotov cocktails attacked his school, killing eight children and a security guard. The under-age shooter was eventually sent to a psychiatric hospital and the parents were charged.
On the evening of the very next day a 20-year-old man drove through two villages in central Serbia firing an automatic assault rifle, killing nine people and wounding 12 others. He fled but was caught and eventually sentenced to 20 years.
This was shocking in a country where gun ownership is high but shooting incidents rare. Large protest demonstrations were held in major cities for several months. Opposition leaders created a protest movement “Serbia Against Violence” which blamed Vucic for creating “an atmosphere” responsible for the killings.
This is surely an exaggeration. In fact, police repression in Serbia is relatively mild, and Vucic can hardly be blamed for the mood of violence that prevails in the world today. Former Prime Minister Ana Brnabic also risked exaggeration by claiming that the protests were “fueled by foreign intelligence services.”
Candidates for “Serbia Against Violence” won 24 percent of the vote in parliamentary elections on Dec. 17, 2023, just half the 48 percent won by the coalition supported by Vucic.
In February 2024, a delegation headed by Marinika Tepic of “Serbia Against Violence” and Radomir Lazovic of the “Serbian Green-Left Front” went to Strasbourg to complain to the European Parliament that the elections had been stolen.
Enjoying minimal legislative power, the European Parliament asserts itself mainly by adopting virtuous resolutions condemning human rights violations in foreign countries on the basis of often unverified complaints.
As was to be expected, by an overwhelming vote of 461 to 52 the European Parliament promptly adopted a strong resolution calling for an international investigation into “election irregularities” and threatening to stop EU funding. The main complaint was that by campaigning, President Vucic had unfairly influenced voters.
Marinika Tepic declared to Politico that “if something doesn’t change now, we will completely slide into a dictatorship.”
EU’s Missionary Work
Protests against recognizing the December 2023 elections reached such proportions that many feared a replay of the 2014 Maidan demonstrations that led to war in Ukraine.
Pavle Cicvaric, who had learned organizing skills in numerous programs and workshops funded by Western foundations, led the student protests in Belgrade. The young leader’s parents are both deeply involved in the work of NGOs.
His mother, Dr. Jelena Žunic Cicvaric, is project coordinator of the NGO “Regional EU Resource Center for Civil Society in Serbia,” a key channel for the redistribution of European Union funds, allocated only to those actively working on raising awareness of “European values.”
His father, Radovan Cicvaric, a long-time politician campaigning for Euro-integration, is also promoting “European values” as director of the NGO Užice Center for Child Rights (UCPD) founded in 1998.
While the UCPD focuses on children, another influential NGO, the Belgrade Open School (BOS), founded in 1993, sponsors programs for students and young professionals, including “training of social change agents.”
Both are part of the “Youth Umbrella Organization of Serbia” which receives significant funds from international donors such as USAID, the Soros’ Open Society Foundation, and various European Union programs.
They organize workshops, training sessions, and projects aimed at strengthening the capacities of local NGOs and promoting European values. “Transition” countries applying for EU membership must listen to instructions on how to be worthy Europeans.
This educational task is undertaken by the European Fund for the Balkans (EFB), a joint initiative of European foundations that envisions, runs and supports initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy and fostering European integration.
Significantly, the EFB is sponsoring a “Joint History Project” to produce and spread a unified version of regional history, with the kind support of the German Foreign Office.
The Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD) is a foundation based in Belgrade. It was founded in March 2003 by the German Marshall Fund, USAID, and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Other donors include the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Tipping Point Foundation, Robert Bosch Foundation, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and the foreign affairs ministries of Denmark and Greece. The BTD supports grant donation, policy dialogue, and leadership development.
If you want to be a leader, you know where to go.
It is hard to imagine that these Western-financed organizations have not contributed to the zeal and skill of Serbian student protesters.
A Deadly Collapse
Novi Sad is Serbia’s second-largest city, a major stop on the new high speed railway route between Belgrade and Budapest being rebuilt with Chinese aid.
As part of this project, Novi Sad’s 60-year old modernistic railroad station was recently renovated, leaving in place a long concrete canopy across its entrance side. On the morning of Nov. 1, 2024, the concrete canopy suddenly collapsed, killing a total of 16 people.
The Serbian government declared a nation-wide day of mourning, a number of officials resigned, including the Serbian construction minister and the mayor of Novi Sad. Investigations of the causes are continuing.
For the student activists, the collapse was seen as clear proof of corruption, not only in construction work on the station but throughout society. Declaring that what happened in Novi Sad is proof that Serbia is overwhelmed by crime, violence, corruption and despair, the students have given themselves the task of changing this “unbearable social reality” to build a new Serbia.
An apparently leaderless movement organizes student plenums which privately decide by consensus what to do next. They have shut down university faculties and schools, preventing students from attending classes for months.
Students who want to attend classes are treated like traitors. Even hospitals have been blockaded. It has been observed that the activist students tend to come from well-to-do families and are not joined by working class youth. It is an elite revolt calling for equality.
Students blocking traffic are protected by police. The government clearly suspects provocation and has been avoiding the sort of violent repression used by the French government of Emmanuel Macron to put down the Yellow Vests movement.
Transition to What?
Serbian students under 26 were not born when NATO bombed Serbia.
Serbian youth has grown up torn between the scars of the NATO bombing and the persistent dominant Western view of Serbs as the guilty party for the destruction of Yugoslavia. No wonder that this creates some confusion.
It is understandable that a portion of middle class Serbian, urban youth find it unbearable to be excluded from “the West” by Serbia’s imposed Pariah status.
Youth can be very conformist in their rebelliousness, seeking to join together in defiance of their elders. However confused the West may be, it still excels most in selling itself as something marvelous.
A significant way it does this is through its massive web of non-governmental organizations.
In April, EU auditors issued a report noting a “lack of transparency” in granting some 4.8 billion euros to some 5,000 NGOs during the 2021-2023 period, in addition to Member State grants of some 2.6 billion euros to around 7,500 NGOs from EU funding sources.
It is not clear which countries benefited, but Marta Kos, the Slovenian EU commissioner for enlargement, has mentioned Serbia.
In a March 28 interview with Slovenian RTV, Kos rejected as “unacceptable” suggestions by President Vucic that EU-funded NGOs are encouraging student protests aimed to overthrow him. Kos nevertheless noted that she was “much more in contact with the NGOs I met in Brussels than with the Serbian government or its president.”
She said:
“Many NGOs in Serbia would not survive without our support, and it is precisely because of the exceptional importance of NGOs that I have decided to allocate an additional €16 million to them for the period from this year until the end of 2027.”
“Without the participation of civil society, there can be no enlargement process,” Kos said, adding that she trusts the Serbian people to “guide their politicians so that Serbia can become a member of the European Union.” Kos feels qualified to provide guidance.
Aleksander Vulin is a prominent Socialist who has held various ministerial posts. But no more. “I hope that Mr. Vulin will not be a member of the new government, because those who act in an anti-European manner cannot lead Serbia into the EU,” said Kos. She got her way.
Among his sins, Vulin favors joining BRICS and had called for a law revealing NGO financing by foreign governments. (When Georgia adopted such a law, EU leaders mobilized to stop it, but failed.)
On the other hand, Vucic defied dire threats by the EU against daring to attend the May 9 celebrations of the Allied Victory over Nazi Germany. He flew around Baltic States blocking his flight and showed up in Moscow, along with the courageous Slovak prime minister, Robert Fico.
Such is the Vucic balancing act. As a result, Vucic is denounced as “pro-Putin” in Brussels while his domestic adversaries denounce him for weakly giving in to EU demands.
The student protesters are still more ambiguous.
They clearly don’t want to give credence to government accusations that they are manipulated by EU NGOs. The EU flag has been tacitly banned from the huge student demonstrations, with only Serbian flags being waved, as if to demonstrate national independence.
However, this spring a contingent of student protesters created a spectacle by setting out to take their grievances to EU institutions, ostensibly on bicycles. They were warmly welcomed as they complained that everything in Serbia was absolutely awful.
On May 6, Serbia’s leading newspaper Politika reported that visiting Serbian blockaders in the European Parliament gallery listened meekly as they were lectured by a Croatian nationalist, Steven Nikola Bartulica, who told them that “European values mean also a confession of guilt for everything Serbia did to Croatia.”
(In the summer of 1995, Croatia expelled about 200,000 Serbs from their homes in the Krajina region of Croatia, in the largest ethnic cleansing of the Yugoslav wars.)
Bartulica claimed Serbia was not a European-style liberal democracy and would not be normalized until it accepted paying reparations to Croatia.
Members of the European Parliament expressed satisfaction that the students had chosen “Europe” against Russia, and called for overthrowing Vucic and Fico for having gone to Moscow.
At home, however, the protest demonstrations seem to be losing momentum, to the extent that students have stopped demanding everything! now! and are retreating to the demand for elections.
Boosted by his trip to Moscow, where his delegation held serious talks with President Vladimir Putin, Vucic held a patriotic rally in the city of Nis where he declared that the students’ demands are over and do not interest him any more. He dismissed the blockaders as a very loud minority of mobbing bullies terrorizing the majority of citizens who want peace, work and unity.
By suddenly demanding snap elections, he assumed that they were simply seeking another opportunity for violent outbursts, since elections will always be declared stolen by the opposition. Elections will be held normally in a year or so, he said.
On May 22, Belgrade received a visit from Kaja Kallas, an Estonian chosen by Ursula von der Leyen to be high representative of the EU for foreign affairs. Having no diplomatic experience, Kallas’ most visible qualifications are being a young woman with an unsurpassed hatred of Russia.
While in Belgrade, the EU’s top diplomat met, in a strange twist, with the president and the prime minister to tell them what to do. But she met with representatives of student protesters to listen to what they had to say.
She praised her meetings with “civil society” and youth activists. “I heard their call and their aspirations – for fairness, for accountability so that Serbia can fulfill its full potential,” she said. “Their energy is needed to find a way forward.”
In contrast, Kallas scolded Vucic for meeting Putin in Moscow. Serbia’s future acceptance into the EU, she stressed, depends on the country’s “strategic choice” between East and West.
Putin, by contrast, accepts Vucic’s balancing act and has no objection to Serbia joining the EU. Variety is consistent with a multipolar world. But for the West, “you are with us or against us.” Between East and West, there are no bridges allowed.
Perplexity & Fear
In Belgrade, some people think the protests are petering out. Perhaps, but in the past they have died down only to revive over some incident. Since the causes are unclear, so are the solutions.
The difficulty, Dragan Pavlovic, a Serbian commentator, told me is that the protests are expressed in “very general demands for a ‘better life,’ which obviously does not offer any concrete basis for understanding what is essentially wanted or what should be done to calm the protests.” Such demands can go on forever.
“It is probably an orchestrated, mass hysteria, caused by the nuclear threat, the genocide in Gaza, the prolongation of the crisis in Kosovo and the actions of non-governmental organizations,” he suggests.
Journalist and writer Mara Knezevic Kern considers it impossible to understand these incredible events. “I do not believe that it is possible to describe this new variant of an attack on the state — it has not happened anywhere else yet.” In the 1990s, Yugoslavia served as an experimental laboratory for regime change. Many fear that this is happening again, in Serbia.

immho, the only people that ever had the serbs back, are the russians and one would think this would lead to an unbreakable bond between the two slavic people but this is not the case. quite frankly they seem a bit duplicitous in nature but perhaps this can be chalked up to the many divisions and infighting factions within serbia.

that was because “honest emmanuel” macron took his old mig 29’s as trade ins (gee, i wonder what he did with those?) on his shiny new rafales. after seeing what happened to duplicitous modi’s rafales, at the hands of chinese technology, vucic decided he just had to go to moscow, to see his old friend putin and wish him a happy 80th anniversary and to explain the administration error, that led to all those serbian arms ending up in ukraine, how embarrassing.
i wish the best to the serbian people, i just wish they could figure out who their real friends are.
The US-NATO bombings in the 90’s were a wakeup call for the Russians who saw how weakness invites the predators of the West to move in with their usual bombing runs. This led them to eventually be prepared for later events regarding Ukraine. Conveniently, the US intervention culminated in it establishing its largest military base in Kosovo as it engineered it as a breakaway province. As owners of the planet the US had the right to determine the borders in the faraway Balkans. Now the usual subversive NGOs ply their trade with their tried and true color revolution play scripts. Young people, being naive and stupid, are the useful tools of all this. Join the EU and become the dumping ground for the other member’s unwanted radioactive third worlders. Get used and thrown away like they’ve done with the Ukrainians.
If people are still duped by globalist manipulation, they are hopeless.
It’s all about the money. The Euuu is corrupting with the Euro in the hands of those putanas in charge and they’re handing it out to the Serbs. The Russians, their far away cousins, don’t have the Euros to spend on their cousins.
Hopefully the Serbs will see that getting closer to Russia 🇷🇺 is in their best interest even if they keep taking money 💰 from those whores in Brussels. Duplicitous? Why not!

Can someone tell us how much are the Chinese paying for carting away all that gold (and copper) from the mine in Serbia while polluting the area. You may find that it is far far less than what Trump has offered Zelensky for exploiting Ukraine’s mineral wealth. Trump has offered the Ukraine 50%:50%. Do you think the Chinese have offered a better deal?
The protesters are the same as in Ukraine during the overthrow of the elected government, protests in Russia, Romania and other European Countries. They are radical leftist/LGBT. The Zionists use the homosexuals to overthrow governments now. Serbia is never going to be free again. They are economically controlled by EU and NATO nations. The current government will be gone before the end of Summer.
My first real understanding of the horror of modern war was what appeared to me, as a knee jerk supporter of an aggressive US foreign policy, as nothing but an attack on” Seberia’s “civilian population in an attempt to force a desired outcome.
Johnstone’s writings debunking the genocide claims and offering a more measured analysis, as well as a little historical perspective, was a breath of fresh air. And very welcome.

The KK despicable tool meeting with the “students” is clear foreign interference in Serbia’s internal affairs. The Albanians imported by NATO into Kosovo are a huge problem: organized crime.
The Serbs are admirably patriotic people.

was also true in Tito’s time. The Serbs travelled freely to the West unlike people in “sister socialist” countries,”, often worked there for a while, saved some money, but always came back home.
They deserve better.
The Europeans, including the Brits ,are losing in Ukrain and they don’t know what to do. They will recall that Germany attacked Serbia on Orthodox Easter,1941 and the Anglo Americans attacked on Orthodox Easter, 1944 and NATO attacked on Orthodox Easter,1999 and they now have a reason to attack Serbia again and this they believe will solve all their problems.I thought they would have done this in previous years, but that didn’t happen.But I am basing this on my understanding of Dan. 11: 44-45 . For maybe 1000 or even 2000 years there has been friction between Western Europe and Serbia.
When the Kosovo Liberation Army started its campaign to secede from Yugoslavia (as it was still called) the matter was taken to the ICJ by Yugoslavia (Serbia). They argued that, in international law, the right to secure borders meant that Kosovo did not have the right to secede. The Kosovan argument was that, in international law, the right to self-determination meant that Kosovo did have the right to secede The ICJ agreed that the two were contradictory and they would need to rule on which had precedence. They ruled that self-determination was more important than secure borders.
N.B. The administration of Kosovo declared independence without going to a referendum but the ICJ ruled that, since they were a regional government, they could be said to be expressing the will of the people of Kosovo.
Applying the, now, established principle to Ukraine would mean that Crimea had the right to secede and ask to join Russia (even if they hadn’t bothered with a referendum), and that Lugansk and Donetsk had the right to declare independence ……. and later to apply to join Russia.
This precedent was used by Putin against the US [to no avail] since the US and Germany had already made their minds up about the future of Kosovo.
By the way, and by a huge coincidence, Camp Bondsteel Army Base in Ferizaj, Kosovo, Camp Bondsteel is the largest and main US military base in Kosovo, run by the KFOR (Kosovo Force). It hosts more than 7000 troops.
All of these events, whether accurate or inaccurate, described above, leave people confused about Serbia’s role in supplying the current illegitimate Ukrainian regime with weapons in its fight against Russia.

Re “Chaos”
I hope that you realize that Aleksandar Vucic is a Western puppet and just pretending to be balancing between the West and Russia. He goes to Russia just for show to fool many.
Recall that Vucic has been supplying weapons to Ukraine for years now and against the will of the Serbian people. Of course, Putin/Kremlin know this, but look the other way, as Serbia has been a colony of the West since the coup in October 2000, with which Putin/Kremlin helped. Yes, they helped US occupy Serbia (Primakov in Belgrade), with some Putin’s prep talk about it with Bill Clinton [1]! So, Russia just rips what it saw.
Vucic was installed by the West in 2012, election-free, as he made a deal with them to help them hijack Serbia’s Holy Land – Serbia’s Province of Kosovo! He’s been fulfilling that, and many other promises, ever since he came to power. He did not sign final surrender, but he did pretty much everything to allow primitive Muslim Shqiptars/Albanians terrorists and separatists to rule Occupied Kosovo as their own country – which they see as part of Greater Albania! This land theft is of course fully supported by the West, as well as Russia through the UNSC Resolution 1244, allowing foreign countries to occupy Serbia’s Holy Land.
Both American and Russian ambassadors support Vucic! Russian ambassador to Serbia, acts as Vucic’s promoter, and interferes in elections on Vucic’s behalf.

There were 100s of locations in WW2 Nazi Croatia (pit caves, pits, villages, towns, etc.) where Serbs were slaughtered including multiple large extermination camps. Estimates of Serb deaths in the largest, but not the only one, extermination camp called Jasenovac (5 times the size of Auschwitz) according to Gideon Greif [2], were at least 1.4 million. He explained that Serbs were tortured/slaughtered in 57 different ways. He also mentioned that the total number is for sure higher as many victims were not buried in mass graves, but rather thrown into Sava river, burned in furnaces, made soap of (yes you read that right – Croats made soap out of murdered Serbs), etc. Note that those were extermination camps and not concentration camps, as Croats did not feed the prisoners, since they were brought in to be slaughtered asap. According to American WW2 findings/reports, around 1,300 Croatian Catholic priests took direct part in murders, rapes, etc. Yes, you read that right – Croatian Catholic priests slitting throats, raping women and girls, torturing people, etc. as reported by USA WW2 archives.

Yes, the Russian People and the Russian Orthodox Church have been and always will be friends of the Orthodox Christian Serbs, but the Russian State has been an enemy of the Serbs for at least last 225 years, with very rare exceptions (WW1 entry, voting against British Srebrenica Lie/Fiction UNSC resolution attempt, etc.). More on that below.
Not torn – just trying to be independent from both. Orthodox Christian Serbs stand on their own! Serbs neither consider themselves small Russians nor Serbia small Russia!
So, with such strong and independence-minded attitude, both sides have been seeing Serbs as a problem, as Serbs reject servitude to both – West and Russia. Yes, in the past, Russia wanted Serbs/Serbia to be their voluntary colony, and did many evils once realized that Serbs wanted to be treated as equals, friends, and partners. E.g. making Orthodox Bulgarians mass murderers and permanent enemies of Serbs (Greater Bulgaria / Bulgarian Exarchate) as revenge for refusing servitude!
Re main misconceptions about Russia and Serbia
Current Russia has no friends, because it has betrayed and sold out all true friends and true partners (Serbia, Belarus, Armenia, Libya, Syria, Sudan, North Korea, etc.), while Russia’s enemies (West, Turkey) do not respect Russia because they suck up to them and show an enormous inferiority complex through openly craving to be invited into their club. Putin even asked Bill Clinton for Russia’s NATO membership!
Putin is a student of Klaus Schwab and Kissinger and attended globalist courses with Angela Merkel and Tony Blair as training/prep, after which all three were placed at the helm of their respective countries. Putin became the president of Russia by a decree, not by elections. Russia is currently a colony of globalists, and Putin is a colonial administrator.
Here is the list of betrayals, crimes and evils that the Putin/Kremlin (i.e. Russian State, not Russian People), has committed against Serbia just in the last 35 years:
1) 1992: Voting in the Security Council for sanctions against the FRY (Serbia and Montenegro) – the strictest sanctions ever imposed on a state. Zimbabwe abstained!
2) 1992: Russia recognized Contemporary Nazi Croatia before the US and even before they were officially recognized in the UN.
3) 1992-1995: Russia fully armed the army of Nazi Croatia (planes, helicopters, missiles, etc.) in violation of the international embargo! Serb civilians were killed and expelled with these weapons in 1995 in the operation called “Storm”.
4) 1999: Threat from the Russian representative to Milosevic that Serbia would be destroyed if it did not sign a peace treaty with NATO (Chernomyrdin in Belgrade).
5) 2000: Putin’s help to the USA and Bill Clinton to successfully carry out a color revolution in Serbia and occupy it (Primakov in Belgrade). There is a transcript of the conversation between Putin and Clinton regarding Serbia before October 2000 coup.
6) 2003: Withdrawal of Russian troops from occupied Kosovo. No, no one asked for it, but it was Putin’s favor to the West for which he received nothing. The pogrom of the Serbs followed shortly after. A high-ranking Russian general officially openly stated that they had no interest in the Balkans – I assume except for arming Nazi Croatia to kill Serb civilians?
7) 2006: Destroying Union of Serbia and Montenegro (aka FRY). Yes, you read that correctly – that was also Russia’s doing and not the USA’s. After Montenegro turn to the West, Kremlin publicly complained about Montenegro’s “betrayal” – i.e. they admitted what they have destroyed the Union.
Note: Resolution 1244, although presented as a big favor to Serbs by Russia, actually allows NATO to occupy part of Serbia’s territory – that’s why Russia voted for it. That was another favor to the West for which they got nothing but scorn.
After Russia broke Union of Serbia and Montenegro (FRY) in 2006, basically all major betrayals/crimes by Russia against Serbia were done. So after that, they’d occasionally visit Serbia (Lavrov, Zakharova, Putin) for some platitudes about Russia-Serbia “friendship”, some good photo shoots to help deceive both Serbs and Russians.
Of course, it’d take a lot of time to list all the evils committed by the Russian State against Serbs/Serbia in the 19th and the 20th century before 90s. For example, occupying Serbia in 1944 (officially called “liberating”) and handing it to local communists murderers (Tito) that proceeded to slaughter at last 250,000 Serb civilians as Serbs are monarchists and Christians!
Entry into the WW1 was a rare, rare exception, for which Serbs are very grateful. Although, very few people ask the following: Would the Austro-Hungarian Empire (AHE) even consider/plan attacking and destroying Serbia if they had not been sure that Russia would betray Serbia, as they have witnessed countless times in the 19th century. Let us remember that Russia handed Serbia over to Catholic Empires and Vatican zones of interest!

This is a slow motion picture of a self-devouring sick society, while the EU still supports the government because they are afraid of the complete collapse of this lunatic country.
Very often we have the usual stereotypes about coloured revolutions. The fact is that the current Vučić government is the biggest American puppet in the region, and their potential alternative is even bigger. Vučić would give anything to stay in power, and when I say everything, I mean absolutely everything, including the most basic national interests.
He is widely regarded as one of the most corrupt politicians in Europe. He rose to power with direct support from Western intelligence services during a meeting in Paris. They concluded that, as a former nationalist, he would be more effective than the so-called democrats who came to power in Belgrade during the “Maidan” that led to the overthrow of Serbia’s last state-forming president, Slobodan Milošević. Since then, huge money has been invested by the West to suppress patriotic individuals and intellectuals in Serbia and make it impossible for them to organize.
The Serbian people, who are predominantly Russophiles, were misled for over a decade into believing that Vučić was pursuing a wise strategy of deceiving the West, which otherwise controls most processes in Serbia. In reality, Vučić has been quietly advancing the recognition of an independent Kosovo and transferring Serbia’s resources to entities like BlackRock, leaving the country with dwindling energy reserves.
He even accepted bribes from Rothschilds’ Rio Tinto to initiate toxic lithium mining in Serbia’s Tuscany like region, prioritizing German interests over Serbian well-being. This mining would pollute Serbia’s waterways, rendering parts of the country uninhabitable. Furthermore, he agreed to let France use Serbia as a nuclear waste dump.
Vučić is also implicated in large-scale corruption in numerous projects, including highway construction, the national stadium, and various infrastructure developments in the capital, where he appropriated significant portions of prime real estate. These schemes have reportedly enabled him to amass billions of dollars. He is now selling Serbia’s most fertile land to Arab investors, though many believe it is ultimately controlled by his mafia cartel.
Recently, a tragic canopy collapse at a train station killed 16 people. Vučić attempted to cover up the incident, but public outrage erupted, highlighting the corruption and negligence underpinning his administration. Vučić operates under the direct influence of the American ambassador and Western intelligence agencies, which have reportedly intercepted his communications with mafia elements responsible for political assassinations and the violent suppression of protests on his behalf.
This blackmail renders him powerless to act independently. He has adopted an anti-Russian stance, earning him unchecked support from Western powers to oppress and exploit the Serbian people. Serbia remains one of the few countries where the mafia has effectively subjugated the state. Now, as his regime begins to falter, even his closest allies are abandoning him.
The regime’s collapse seems imminent, though what follows may offer little hope. Those poised to succeed Vučić belong to pro-Western circles that have shown no patriotic commitment to Serbia’s interests. Like Vučić, they are unlikely to prioritize the nation’s well-being.
If this is true, then whoever allowed the Chinese to exploit the gold/copper mine in Serbia committed high treason. Gold is the most important financial resource and that is why Russia, China and others are accumulating it as fast as they can, with China doing it at Serbia’s expense. Money, paper or digital, is worthless. What you quote is far less than China and Russia are offering African countries for their resources. Trump is being accused of trying to turn the Ukraine into a colony yet his terms for the Ukrainian resources are quite fair when compared to the Chinese deal in Serbia.
Regarding the Ukraine, I don’t think Serbia should be supplying arms to the Ukrainians, not should it ever impose sanctions on Russia, but neither should it support the Russians diplomatically. Putin has said that the West has broken international law by recognising Kosovo’s independence so he went and did the same by annexing Crimea and later the other four territories. The Ukraine recognises Serbia’s territorial integrity so I guess Serbia has to do the same with regard to the Ukraine. But then Russia also doesn’t recognise Kosovo. Still, if Serbia wants to uphold international law for the sake of its claim on Kosovo, it has to condemn the Russian occupation of the Ukraine, even though it may be backed by the referendums. Kosovo did not have a referendum but that doesn’t matter as it is obvious what the result would have been. Serbs may be pro-Russian but as far as diplomacy goes, Serbia should not be backing Russia’s territorial claims in spite of the nature of the regime in Kiev.

Two months ago, Serbian Telecom forcibly took over a satellite TV operator, of which I was a subscriber, and within a week, removed all opposition channels from the package. Numerically, Serbs/Croats are something like 1.6/1. It is not such a big disproportion; then, in our wars in the 20th C we feel we defeated them: during WW2, we were on both sides & were not defeated by them; in the 1990s wars they fled from Croatia proper & we would also greatly reduce their presence in Bosnia & Herzegovina, were it not for Bosnian Muslim national/ideological confusion.
Also, Serbs harbor this victim mentality that we had, in this century, killed ca. 1-2 million of them. This is absurd exaggeration, but it is, nevertheless, a reflection of their fear of us. They see us as bloodthirsty monsters (which is something radically different from Polish-Russian relations).
Also, since Croatian & Serbian are 100% mutually intelligible, we are somehow closer.
As for Serbs & Russia, there is a sort of “kitschy Orthodoxy luuv” expounded by many priests & some fringe politicians. Serbs are, emphatically, pro-Russian, but in real life they are Americanized & don’t care about Russians, except in situations involving political rhetoric. They also emigrate to Canada, Germany, Sweden,… & hardly anyone goes to Russia. Historical ties from the 18th C are gone, since Serbs mostly use our version of Roman alphabet & Cyrillic script is no more than 20% present in everyday life.
Serbs are, with rare exceptions, mostly irreligious so their “Orthodoxy” is frequently vastly exaggerated (actually, Orthodox priests are the butt of numerous tasteless jokes).

1. In the past 500-600 years the national issue was not the central one. It became crucial from around the 1820s.
2. during past 500 years many “Serbs” (actually, a mixture of proper Serbs & partially Serbianized Vlachs, Albanians, Bulgarians, Greeks,…) had been migrating, following Ottoman armies, to what is now Croatia & ca. 50-70% of what is now Bosnia & Herzegovina. These people were Eastern Orthodox & called themselves Vlachs &, in a few instances, Serbs. Ottoman sources almost exclusively call them “Serbs” by religion (Srb-milleti). At the same time, the process of Islamization of local South Slavic populations of what are now Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro & Serbia proper was under way. Local Catholics were much more vulnerable because their centers of power had been outside (Rome, Venice, Habsburg empire,..), while Orthodox inhabitants were treated more leniently because their spiritual center was under the Ottoman control & no Orthodox force, until Russia much later, was their adversary. So, many local Catholics who went by proto-national & regional names (Dalmatians, Croats, Bosnians,..) had been Islamized; those Orthodox Slavs who had been Islamized, from Serbia, Montenegro to Bulgaria lost their ethnic identity in Ottoman officials’ eyes (because “Greeks” and “Serbs” could be only Orthodox), while Croats retained it. Thus there is a phenomenon that there were from the late 1400s to the early 1700s many highly placed Ottoman officials bearing the cognomen “Croat” (Rustem Pasha Croat), while no one bears the cognomen “Serb”- because it was, according to Ottoman classifications, a denomination, not an ethnicity. In Turkish eyes, “Croats” were in many cases not only ancestors of contemporary Croats, but any South Slav, any variant of Christianity, who had converted to Islam.Thus, paradoxically, Croatian name is much more prevalent in Ottoman sources than in Western (Venetian, Habsburg, French, English,…), where due to historical confusions various names for ancient tribes (Illyrians, Slovins, even Goths..) had been more applied to historical Croats & marginally all South Slavs. Also, due to that confusion rooted in medieval Croatian Glagolitic literary culture, some important early (the 15th-17th C) Croatian authors call all Slavs (including Poles and Russians) generic “Croats”.
3. local Eastern Orthodox who had settled in Croatian & Bosnian lands did not have a clear ethnic self-consciousness. In most records they are called Vlachs; in many others, they were referred to by others, as they were by themselves, as “Croats”. What did they mean by that, we don’t know. Also, their priests had retained elements of medieval Serbian literary culture, so in the elite Orthodox circles, the ancestors of contemporary Croatian Serbs were frequently called “Serbs” or “Slavo-Serbs”.
4. during the period of ca. 100 years, i.e. post-Napoleonic time to the start of the WW 1, for most modern Croats chief enemies had been Hungarians, Germans & Italians, while Serbs had been treated either as deluded Orthodox Croats or close cousins somewhere in the East; Bosnian Muslims were considered, “racially”, to be Croats & there was, in the spirit of 19th C liberal nationalism, no need for their re-conversion to Christianity.
5. from 1918- 1991, many things had happened, but the life in 2 Yugoslav states finally crystallized peoples around religion & historical cultures. Apart from Macedonians & Slovenes, Catholics were Croats, Orthodox were Serbs & Muslims were first Muslims by nationality, then they changed their name to Bosniaks. From Croatian perspective, Western peoples like Hungarians or Germans ceased to be enemies simply because they were not here anymore & there was no threat from them; Serbs are the central enemies who had been defeated in Croatia, but they remain in Bosnia & Herzegovina a problem- if they behave well, there can be cooperation with them, especially when their Serbian central gives up their provincial imperial dreams.
As for Muslims/Bosniaks, there are very few of them who are Croatian nationalists “of Islamic faith”; basically, they are considered to be a new, separate South Slavic people not easy to deal with because they, Bosnian Muslims, are riding on the wave of infantile national fantasies & would like to subdue both Croats & Serbs in Bosnia & Herzegovina. So, Serbs remain chief adversary with potential of becoming an uneasy neighbor; Muslims are unpredictable & volatile element which can be used as allies in difficult times, but are generally culturally foreign people who are here to stay in the vicinity, but are too different & immature in their behavior, oscillating between Ottoman nostalgias & inflated new Bosniak nationalism, so there is no consensus what to do with them.

As for Serbs, they’re lost in space-time. They rot within; corruption is astonishingly high; they- most of them- adulate their president Vučić (or treat him as the traitor because he, the word goes around, has”sold out” the Kosovo province). Serbs have both superiority & inferiority complexes. For instance, ca. 20-40% believe that most Europeans are of Serbian origin (Germans, Russians, French,..); that Aristotle wrote in Serbian; that most Egyptian pharaohs & Roman emperors were, actually, Serbs; that there is continuity with the Neolithic Vinča culture, some 8,000 years old & that contemporary Serbian Cyrillic script, which was reformed by a philologist & ethnographer Vuk Karadžić in the 19th C is the direct continuation of some Neolithic scribbles in Vinča.
True, academic historians are fighting this nonsense, but at least 30% of Serbs believe in this.
At the same time, Serbs feel an ineradicable inferiority complex towards us, Croats. It goes deeper than geography, standard of living or anything similar. They are continually watching our TV programs- I don’t watch TV, any language & any country, but know this from others; they’re jealous of some of our TV documentaries about our medieval history; they cannot compile serious encyclopedic works on their written heritage, art, history…. so they’ve taken a few books from Croatian Renaissance & Baroque literature into their, pompously named, edition “10 centuries of Serbian literature” (of course that Renaissance & Baroque, as literary stylistic formations, don’t exist in Eastern Orthodox cultures); they…
Serbs have also enormously magnified ustaša atrocities during WW2 & somehow fused them with their lost war during the 1990s, which has created in their collective psyche the image of us, Croats, as something diabolic beyond comprehension. Before WW2, they mostly harbored contempt for us (Croatian faggots); after WW2, and especially after they lost in the 90s wars, they fear us as hell (Croatian demons).
For us, Serbs are either boring or we simply don’t know what’s going on with them. True, some, a more primitive layer, finds them attractive as a clownish & picturesque, “Balkan” entity, but this attraction soon wears out.

Just wanted to say thank you for writing the article Thank You, Ed Herman back in 2017 and giving Ed Herman the credit due for the book Manufacture of Consent. Although this book is too limited in its perspective with regards to its revisions, it is an important book that is relative today. Reading that book and other related books on the deception industry is highly recommended, especially concerning the infiltration and control of history and political science at the universities.

Who are the Serbs? It is a Slavophone people belonging to the Eastern Christianity of a specific, Saint Sava’s religious-historical culture, speaking the West South Slavic dialect continuum plus, in part, the Torlak dialects that form the Bulgarian-Serbian Sprachbund. The Nemanjić dynasty played a key role in constituting this people at the end of the Middle Ages, as well as the mythized past about the Battle of Kosovo (1389), folk hero Obilić & other anti-Ottoman real & imagined heroes, etc. So, for Serbs, the case is simple – the Balkan Orthodox people, who came into contact with Western culture during their migrations towards the north and the west, enriching themselves through the process – but that did not change their essential national physiognomy.
Who are the Croats? And why can’t Serbs, even when they are well disposed, understand anything about Croats? The thing is that the Croatian identity is multi-layered and for something as simple or different as the Serbian ethnicity – it is actually inconceivable. Croats are a Slavophone people belonging to Western Christianity, inheriting the traditions of the early medieval Croatian state through the institution of Parliament, and the old Bosnian polity, marginally, through the Franciscan order. Croats speak West South Slavic dialects, but their identity is multi-layered. Also – Croats are the only Catholic Slavic people having a Cyril and Methodius / Church Slavonic tradition, while other similar peoples (Slovenes, Czechs, Poles … – do not possess). I guess we disagree on two issues, collective identity & “rationality”.
As far as collective identity goes, an individual can flourish only within a national culture (I mean those immersed in it, organically). As historians had defined: A nation is a community of destiny that has become a community of character. Speaking even of radical individualists like Nietzsche, he is unthinkable outside of German culture. A nation is an extended tribe, which is an extended family. This is natural and normal, and becomes stifling only if one is obsessed with their identity while simultaneously disparaging other nations.

Croats were assigned the dirtiest jobs by the Vatican mafia organization. That is why the Croats are the only genocidal group in the world and I have yet to see a single Croat who has ever acknowledged the Croatian-Catholic genocide of the Serbs.
There were 100s of locations in WW2 Nazi Croatia (pit caves, pits, villages, towns, etc.) where Serbs were slaughtered including multiple large extermination camps. Croats even had at least one extermination camp just for Serbian children. Estimates of Serb deaths in the largest, but not the only one, extermination camp called Jasenovac (5 times the size of Auschwitz) according to the historian Gideon Greif, were at least 1.4 million. He explained that Serbs were tortured/slaughtered in 57 different ways.
He also mentioned that the total number is for sure higher as many victims were not buried in mass graves, but rather thrown into Sava river, burned in furnaces, made soap of (yes you read that right – Croats made soap of murdered Serbs), etc. Note that those were extermination camps and not concentration camps, as Croats did not feed the prisoners, since they were brought in to be slaughtered asap.
According to American WW2 findings/reports, around 1,300 Croatian Catholic priests took direct part in murders, rapes, etc. Yes, you read that right – Croatian Catholic priests slitting throats, raping women and girls, torturing people, etc. as reported by USA WW2 archives.
These 57 ways of killing Serbs, inspired by the Vatican, can be seen in the following table. Now if you condemn these Croatian crimes I will immediately withdraw my qualification that the Croats are a genocidal group without a single exception.

Croatia actually never existed as a country until 1941-1945, as illegitimate self-declared Nazi country [1], followed by the second attempt in 1991, when illegitimately self-declared again, and then cried Serb aggression after Yugoslav National Army (JNA) reacted to their Nazi insignia, separatism, organized pogroms of non-Croats, as well as their organized and synchronized attacks on Army barracks/bases. Today’s Croatia is <5% non-Croat, and the most popular singer is a Nazi/Ustashe rocker called Thomson.
They were recognized in 1992. thanks to the efforts of Contemporary Nazi Germany (post reunification) and Vatican (i.e. Unholy See), so that is when Croatia, with land theft from the communists times they themselves organized, as they ruled communist Yugoslavia with Tito (a non-Serb) and Slovenians, was made official. That land theft includes 95% of the Adriatic Coast.
That is why map of Croatia looks funny – like a boomerang – all due to land theft. One boomerang arm is a theft of some of the most fertile land in Former Yugoslavia (Slavonia, etc.), while the other is Adriatic Coast theft.
There was no kingdom of Croatia, there were no Croatian kings – all that is just fiction concocted by them, Vatican, and Germans. Fake maps, fake history, fake documents, etc. – all classic new nation engineering/creation. In some cases, even them admitted docs being forgeries – like Pacta Conventa.
"Croatian" language is just a dialect of the Serbian language, and "Croatian" alphabet is just a Latin version of the Serbian one. No need for translators even today after they invented many new words to try to make it look like a separate language.
Croats are descendants of Orthodox Christian Serbs, that were for the most part, force converted into Catholicism through blackmail and threats over many decades, and then, at the very end of the 19th century forced to declare, not as Serbs of Catholic faith as they called themselves up to that point, but as "Croats". Modern genetic studies show a complete match!
See Austro-Hungarian Empire (AHE) census books [2] showing zero Croats and 100% Serbs in e.g. Dubrovnik in 1890, and recall the fact that the Serbian Party won the elections in Dubrovnik in 1890! Today, there are essentially close to no Serbs in Dubrovnik!
In short, Croats are an artificial nation of religious converts – i.e. they are former Serbs.
Many of them know their roots, as they've found Orthodox Christian icons and grandparents' Orthodox baptism certificates in the attics, but afraid to speak due to potential violent reprisals. Even those very few Serbs that still live there, have to keep quiet about it. One of the most famous Serbs there is a former wrestler called Mirko Cro Cop (last name Filipović) who is a Serb, but you will not hear him say who he is, as he may get doxxed, gang-beaten or even killed.

Actually no, Catholic baptism and Pope’s crown were lies injected by Vatican and Jesuits into only one copy (Paris’ copy) of the only 3 preserved copies of Nemanja’s biography – the other two do not have that. He was never a Catholic nor ever used any Pope-sent crowns.
As a matter of fact, Serbian St. Sava (Nemanjić) always referred to Roman Catholic Church and Vatican as Latin heretics and schismatics!
That is how Vatican “corrects” history – making copies of the original, adding little things here and there to fit their agenda, and then declaring the original as lost. Very subtle lies, but with major impact on the history, like lies about Serbia Orthodox Christian Nemanjic Dynasti.
In cases where forgery is not feasible either due to a large amount of work required or too complex, Vatican used strategy number two – forbidding books.
For example, Mauro Orbini’s “Kingdom of the Slavs” was immediately censored by Vatican as he wrote 100s of pages about the Serbs. If you’d believe it, special official note has been attached to the copy of that book in the Vatican library – it reads “Do not show it to Serbs!” This work was translated in communist Yugoslavia by ignoring the part where Serbs were mentioned. Hence, only the second half was translated, while the first part was declared as fiction by the communist professors and ignored. One interesting tidbit from it: Mauro refers to the Serbian leader Lazar of Kosovo Battle fame as the King of Triballi!

Interesting additional tidbit is that the forgery known as pseudo-Porphyrogennetos, alleging migration of Serbs to the Peninsula in the 7th century, was also “discovered” in Paris’ library. You should take a look at “Russia and the Universal Church” by Vladimir Solovyev. There is no aggression and harassment of individuals and pressure to come to church regularly (as with Catholics in smaller places), nor is there any attempt to attract an atheist or a member of one of the aforementioned Western sects to their own camp, presumably to put a few dollars on a plate at the end of the service.

Re False flag as WWI trigger: Archduke Ferdinand sacrificed: Below is one short video [3] describing details of the event itself and how it all seemed to be prepared for the Archduke to be disposed of. He was literally driven around and delivered to Gavrilo Princip, who was in the sandwich shop after he gave up on the operation and went to get something to eat. Extra police protection, after the first failed attempt, was essentially denied, and the cars continued through streets as if nothing has happened. I just want to say-it’s not just Serbian propaganda. It is about the mental & moral maturity of that people. Let me explain, and this may sound not just harsh, but even vitriolic. Just- I cannot think otherwise. It is not something guttural, but based on my interactions with Serbs.
Most Serbs who went to grammar & high school with me are, give or take, like us. Actually, I wouldn’t even call them Serbs (not that I am denying their right to be whatever they want to be, like Starčević did in the 19th C). They just don’t care about anything specifically Serbian (history, language, culture, religion,…). What defined them, my acquaintances from high school, as Serbs, was their fear of ustaše & Jasenovac, the entire NDH mental-emotional complex.
Personally- I’ve read hundreds,perhaps thousands of relevant books on Serbian identity, history, culture, their self-consciousness and interactions with “others”. Long since I’ve come to the conclusion that their intellectual elites, not just vulgar propagandists & extremists, are almost without exception members of the Byzantine-Balkan civilizational area & simply cannot escape limitations of that cultural- mental sphere. In effect, that means they’re doomed to irrationality & cognitive dissonance with the modern, rational world. What I want to emphasize is that goes for the elites (I don’t mean financially powerful people, nor women & men who are into the exact sciences etc.) – and not just for semi-educated citizens or semi-literate peasants.
These elites which create their public opinion have produced a mass of published works in the past, say, 30-50 years, with roots of their political & historical literature going back to the 1850s.
And, with a negligible differing part, their published significant papers, books, studies .. of anything dealing with Croats is simply- lunatic. Sure, there shine a few exceptions, but they are marginal- and more, they are colored with Yugoslav sentiment.
So, the fields that matter are what they write & learn from: historiography, history of culture, religion, language, literature, art, politics, sociology … as well as newer areas like ethno-psychology or older ones, but with new interpretations in archaeology and anthropology.
I don’t quite know what they’ve written about Albanians (with a few exceptions) & Macedonians, but they seem to be obsessed with Croats re. their own self-identity & national being, and to a lesser extent with Bosnian Muslims.
Perhaps this is a condition they share with all other non-Western peoples, I don’t know (this sounds like a “cultural racism”). Just, through my communication both with their “lower” and “higher” mental strata of the intellectual spectrum, I’ve always encountered dreary old same stuff.
Even when they try to comprehend something outside of what they’ve been taught, they fail. They fall into the trap of mythic thinking, fantasies of self-importance, a cartoon-like interpretation of history etc. Also, even their brightest minds in the pentagram history- language-literature-culture-ethnogeny cannot escape “eastern” irrationality. Their knowledge about Croats is extremely superficial, even when not inimical.
What is good, in my opinion, is that their mental ejaculations cannot pass the critical- empirical mental litmus of the modern world, which is- despite its contraries, decadence, frequent shallowness, tendentiousness, …. set high enough so that they can’t get away with shenanigans as they did decades ago, perhaps a century & a half.
We have known about the Croats and their genocide for a long time. But all this is actually a mirror of the West. They are not bothered by it at all, nor do they see the monstrous nature of the Croats. On the other hand, we see the unprecedented Serbophobia towards the people who have experienced countless genocides over the past several thousand years, both here and in other threads.
Unfortunately, we do not have an author here, at UNZ, who would deal with Serbophobia, which is much older than anti-Semitism. Serbophobia is welcomed and encouraged by the West, while anti-Semitism is persecuted by the political West and the largest aggressive army in the world, for which this is the only reason for its existence.
Be as it may, this is how new nations are created and how nations were created in the past. Most of them were created by breaking up from some other. This is living history and, like it or not, we are privileged to be observing it in our lifetime. And thank God it’s not the end of history as some idiot in the 1990s had hoped. In the future yet more new nations could be created, and not just from the Serbs. The question is can this be reversed? We’ll have to watch if, when Russia takes over most or all of the Ukraine, it will be able to bring the Ukrainians back into the Russian fold or not. On the other hand, some nations, like the Kurds, still don’t have their own state.
Some readers simply cannot understand some things and get out of the stereotypes they have so far. This is not about this or that policy, about turning the face of Janus, about selling weapons to Ukros, etc. Here is a naked mafia that was brought to power by the West and received a mandate from it to ruthlessly rob its own people, commit political murders.

I am no historian, but re. your table, maybe at the time Croatian language did not exist, or it was not even recognised as a language, and the Austrians assumed all Croats spoke Serbian, or a dialect of it. Later the SerboCroatian language was created and then it split into two, supposedly distinct, languages. I guess this distinction will grow in the future until one day the two may be incomprehensible to each other. So maybe not all those shown as speaking Serbian in the table were actually Serbs.
Yes, some Serbs fought for the Ottomans. Others escaped and settled in other regions, like Krajina, where they fought against the Ottomans. Then later these Serbs were genocided by the Croats and expelled.
The alleged atrocities you cite are wildly exaggerated, they were a fabrication conjured up by jews, communists, and Serbs to justify war crimes committed against Croats and Slovenes. The communist party allied with the Serbian Orthodox Church to burn all of the official government files after the war to cover their tracks. The Serbs employ the same tactics as the jews with their Holocaust fantasy, as the Holocaust Narrative unravels due to rising consciousness so too will the Serbian slander levied against the Croats.
There was no such a program & not anyone tried to implement it. True, one NDH minister blurted out something similarly, only once, but it was not a plan, just a Freudian slip from an individual who knew a bit of history.
These “threes” occur frequently in history: it was a Roman empire’s plan with Germanic tribes in earlier phases (without change of religion, just converting them to Roman customs); then, during the Ukrainian Khmelnytsky uprising in the 17th C as Polish-Lithuanian policy against Orthodox Ukrainians, and finally the policy of Russian empire from the 1880s to the end, aimed at Empire’s Jews.
There was not a genocide perpetrated on Serbs during WW2. It is true that Pavelić & his cronies tried something similar- they expelled to Serbia proper from 150,000 to 200,000 Serbs, while in the first 6 months of their rule they killed perhaps from 5 to 15,000 Serbs, partly as a retaliation for killing a few hundred Croatian civilians by Serbian paramilitaries & Četnik even before Ustaše were installed by Hitler, April the 10th 1941.

You have to take into consideration the metaphysical when understanding the relationship between Serbia and her neighbors. The Oriental people in general have a desire to prevent the Christianization of society due to the desire for moral mediocrity among the public, caesaropapism naturally follows as it allows the public to shift responsibility for moral reform unto a single man rather than society in general. Once this attitude is codified regression in theology and public morality follows, extreme focus on the minutiae of local traditions, lack of belief in the principle of non-contradiction, laity’s disobedience of bishops and ecumenical councils, and overall a regression into a sort of pseudo-jew.
The transformation of the Serb into a crypto-jew stems from the intransigence of the Nemanjic kings and ultimately culminates in their refusal to participate in the Council of Florence. The rise of Islam is not so much adversarial as it is complementary to the spirit of moral and theological degradation that the oriental public fosters. The Turkish conquest may look violent and unjust on the surface but really it merely reflected the internally violent and incoherent nature of Serbian pseudo-Orthodoxy. Give credit when credit is due, the jews were instrumental in funding the Balkan rebellion. Herzl was swayed from his initial desire to convert all jews to Catholicism by the revolutionary zeal shared by Serbs and jews while he was staying in Serbia. By the way the Ottoman Empire was not an unjust tyranny foisted upon the Serbs, it was in fact the honest representation of the religious attitude of the pseudo-Orthodox Serbs. They mythologize the Kosovo battle in 1389., where on one side were mostly Serbian (plus some Bosnian, Croatian and Bulgarian forces), all in all ca. 25,000 people against the Ottoman army, also ca. 25,000 strong. Serbs made the entire mythology of that battle, inventing the event that their leader, prince Lazar, had had, prior to the battle, some kind of imitation of the Last Supper (12 knights- 12 apostles) where they solemnly declared that they will choose Christ’s kingdom instead of subjugation to Ottoman Islamic conquerors. Needless to say, nothing like that happened, nor were they offered, from the Ottoman side- anything. In the battle one Serbian soldier killed a Turkish sultan & Turks forgot about Serbs & were engaged in chasing & killing one potential Ottoman heir after another (due to polygamy, Turks did not have a system of succession & every transition of power meant killing all your brothers).
Serbs made a myth of that battle with semi-religious overtones, which never happened & it remained the centerpiece of their identity in the past 400-500 or so years.
Croats, on the other hand, defended the Siget fortress in 1566. & saved the Western civilization. Led by Croatian military and political leader Zrinski, a garrison of 3,000 Croats resisted until the end. During the siege, Suleyman the Magnificent died, while out of 90,000- 100,000 Ottoman soldiers, 20-30,000 Ottomans were killed & the entire elite Janissary corps was wiped out. Here, history was actually close to the legend: Suleyman offered Zrinski to be (again) ruler of Croatia if he acknowledged Ottoman sovereignty. Zrinski refused, and in the final speech before he, along with most soldiers, charged the Turks, he explicitly said that Christ’s kingdom of light awaits them, which is better than a physical life under the infidel’s rule.
So, we have two mindsets:
1. Serbian- which is a folk-tale about some battle of middle-sized importance, adorned with numerous fables (no one offered them anything, they did not choose anything)
2. Croatian- which is a historical battle, containing the elements of myth, but all confirmed in reality (the Ottoman offer, Croatia’s ruler giving the final speech before the last stand).
Serbs made a folk-story of their battle; Croats just wrote three epics (Menčetić, Baraković, Ritter-Vitezović) & one opera (Zajc). No mythologization.

Nothing was created, Mike. Rather, Serbian language was just renamed “Serbo-Croatian” by the Yugoslav communists after WW2, to allow the next step – taking one dialect of the Serbian language Croats (former Serbs) spoke, and call it officially Croatian, which is what happened in the 1990s.
In a similar fashion, in 1993, Bosnian Muslims (former Serbs) started calling themselves Bosniaks and the dialect of the Serbian language they use Bosnian or Bosniaks language.

This idiocy is beyond remedy. I’ll just post what is real about these languages, for reasonable outsiders & leave it at that (not that I think most of them would be too interested in such a marginal topic):
As far as linguistics goes:
1. it is not an exact science & does not possess the criteria for determining which standard languages are varieties of a language, and which are close but different languages.
2. for instance, Western linguists aver that there are a few Chinese languages, while the Chinese claim that Mandarin, Cantonese…are varieties of a single, Chinese language. Western linguists protest that this is not according to the criteria they developed, while the Chinese (linguists & the people) say: We don’t care about your criteria. This is the will and world-view of 1.3 billion people and your Euro-centric criteria are worthless.
As has been written:
Croatian and Serbian are basically mutually highly intelligible languages, like Hindi and Urdu (and unlike German, English, Italian, French,..). There was never a common linguistic culture & heritage for Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. The parallel with Hindi and Urdu goes for the dialectal basis of standard languages: in the case of Indian-Pakistani languages, it was Khariboli dialect; in the case of Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian, it was neo-Štokavian dialect. But this is a dialectal basis, not the whole standard language with orthoepy, morphology, word-formation,variety of functional styles, grammar, phraseology, syntax, stylistics, semantics, pragmatics, vocabulary etc. And- it is only Croatian, which has, as a system of dialects, Čakavian, Štokavian and Kajkavian (Serbian and Bosnian- don’t). There is mutual intelligibility & the core grammar and vocabulary; just, there was never a unified language (Serbo-Croatian or Croato-Serbian) that ever existed (or dissolved). When you have linguistic corpora of written texts, going back to 1000 years, and they unmistakably belong either to Croatian or Serbian (or in the case of Bosnian, 500 years) – then, you’ve never had a unified language.
Those who try to apply socio-linguistic theory of pluri-centric/poly-centric languages on these standard languages fail, because:
1. you have to have the same name. Historically, Croatian has been named, mostly, Croatian, Illyrian and Slovin (plus regional names like Slavonian, Ragusan, Bosnian, Dalmatian,..). Serbian has been named Serbian and Serbian-Slavic. This evidently is not the case with the varieties of English, German, French,….
2. you have to have the same literary corpus, at least in the beginning. In the case of English, you got Beowulf, Piers Ploughman, various texts from Chancery, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Locke, Gibbon,… or in German Meister Eckhart, Grimmelhausen, Uhland, Goethe, Kant, Marx, Musil, Kafka, …. In the case of Serbian (Saint Sava’s texts, Dušan’s codex, Dositej Obradović, Jovan Raić, Sava Mrkalj, Vuk Karadžić, Laza Lazarević, Miloš Crnjanski,..) and Croatian (Baška tablet, Vinodol codex, Hrvoje’s Missal, Džore Držić, Marko Marulić, Vatican Croatian Prayer Book, Bartol Kašić, Ivan Belostenec, Junije Palmotić, Ivan Mažuranić, Bogoslav Šulek, August Šenoa, Miroslav Krleža,..)- you got two non-intersecting language corpora. Which is not the case with, say, American and British English, or German in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Croatian and Serbian differ 99.9%.
3. you have to have the same language-cultural community, or speakers who not only understands “other” group(s), but forms a cultural-historical unity with them. Croatian speakers do not belong to the same cultural-historical- language community with Serbs & Bosniaks. Nor do Serbs & Bosniaks do with “others”. The same goes for Urdu and Hindi.
4. you have to have the standardization process that took place at the same time & the same place. For Croatian, standardization has begun in the early 17th C (Kašić’s grammar in 1604, Kašić’s Roman Rite in 1640, Mikalja’s dictionary in 1649, Divković’s sermons in 1611), continued in the 18th C (Belostenec, Della Bella, Džamanjić, Jambrešić, Relković, Kačić Miošić, Stulli) & was finalized in the 19th C (Gaj, Babukić, Mažuranić, Veber, Šulek, Maretić, Broz). Serbian language has begun its standardization in the 18th C (Avramović, Obradović, Vezilić..) and was basically standardized in the 19th C (Karadžić, Daničić, Novaković, Popović..)
So- that goes to the beginning of the answer: no, they’re similar & close different languages, but not varieties of one language.
In German, there is a fundamental work by Leopold Auburger: Die kroatische Sprache und der Serbokroatismus
Auburger’s conclusion is: The perception of closeness creates the illusion of sameness.

Poor Vladimir was the most prominent communist anti-Serb “historian” in charge of producing garbage to try to brainwash Orthodox Christian Serbs. It didn’t work. He obviously used that Vatican-altered Nemanja’s biography (Paris’ copy) I described in [1].
Vladimir was also pushing pseudo-Porphyrogennetos – alleging migration of Serbs to the Peninsula in the 7th century. That was also “discovered” in Paris’ library! Vatican/Catholics ruled France in those days (17th century), as you should know, so it was easy to forge and then “discover” many “facts”.

This thread once again confirms that Croats are the only genocidal group in the world because its members 100% without a single exception, even today, at the same time deny and support the Croatian genocide against Serbs. Why does the Vatican hate the Serbs and why since Florence council organised several genocides against Serbs?
In the 15th c., during the invasion of the Turks, the Orthodox countries were the first to be attacked. Since they could not defend themselves, they asked Western Christians for help. Instead of helping them, the Vatican greeted them with blackmail – they were promised help on the condition that they sign a union with the Catholic Church, that is, that the Orthodox Church recognize the supreme authority of the Vatican.
The Council was scheduled in Florence in 1439. According to sources, all Orthodox patriarchs and representatives came, even Russian ones. All, except Serbian. According to historical sources, the ruler of Serbia at the time, told the Serbian church leader that he would hang him if he went to Florence.
In the mentioned year, the union with the Vatican was signed by all Orthodox religious leaders, except for the Serbian one. After learning that Serbia had opposed the powerful Vatican, because of the shame it had caused to Russia, the Grand Duke executed his patriarch.
Sources say that there were also riots in Constantinople after it was learned that the Serbs had not signed the union. At the request of the people, the Ecumenical Patriarch had to step down, and because of the collapse of the union, the Vatican never forgave the Serbs.
Since then, the age-old hatred towards Serbs begins. The fact that only the Serbian Orthodox representative refused to come to that gathering had a great resonance in the Orthodox world and the people.
In fact, the Serbs saved Orthodoxy from destruction. It was such a historical moment when the Vatican managed to gather all the signatures (including the Russian ones) so that the Orthodox accepted Catholicism and its doctrine and de facto renounced their own existence.
It was obvious that the Byzantine emperor, the Patriarch of Constantinople and the Vatican Pope were on the same task. All the signatures, except the Serbian meant renunciation of the Orthodox faith and support for the Vatican to rule the whole world. If the Serbs had signed like everyone else, now all Orthodox countries, including Russia, would be Catholic.
Every time we have a text about Serbia, the Croatian Ustashas come with shameless lies (A poet said: “Croats are the bravest people in the world, not because they fear nothing, but because they have no shame“) to provoke. The following letter from the Italian general is enough to show their true nature (table in #84), which has not changed to this day.
During a tour of Serbian villages in Dalmatia, Italian General Alessandro Luzano had the opportunity to see first-hand how Serbs were suffering from the Ustasha dagger, and he wrote a letter to Benito Mussolini in which he described the Ustashas atrocities.

My boundless loyalty to you, I hope, gives me the right to depart from strict military protocol in some respects. That’s why I’m in a hurry to describe an event that I personally attended three weeks ago.
While visiting the counties of Stolac, Čapljina and Ljubinje (between 60 and 130 km north of Dubrovnik) – I learned from our intelligence officers that Pavelić’s Ustaše, the previous day, had committed a crime in a village (Prebilovci), and that, when word got out, they would , the surrounding Serbs to be disturbed again.
I lack words to describe what I found there. In a large school classroom, I found a murdered teacher and 120 of her students! No child was older than 12! Crime is an inappropriate and naive word. It was beyond all madness!
They cut off the heads of many and arranged them on the students’ desks. The Ustashas pulled out the intestines from the dismembered entrails and, like New Year’s ribbons, stretched them under the ceiling and nailed them into the walls! The swarm of flies and the unbearable stench did not allow us to stay there longer. I noticed an open bag of salt in the corner and realized to my horror that they were slaughtering them slowly, salting their necks! And just as we were leaving, a child’s cooing was heard in the back pew. I’m sending two soldiers to see what’s up. They brought out one student, he was still alive, he was breathing with his larynx cut in half! I take that poor child to our military hospital in my car, we bring him back to consciousness and we learn the full truth about the tragedy from him.
The criminals first, on a shift, raped a Serbian teacher (her name is Stana Arnautović) and then killed her in front of the children. They also raped eight-year-old girls. During all that time, an orchestra of gypsies brought in by force sang and beat tambourines!
To the eternal shame of our Roman church, a man of God, a pastor, participated in all this! The boy we rescued recovered quickly. And as soon as the wound healed, due to our carelessness, he escaped from the hospital and went to his village to look for his relatives. We sent a patrol after him, but in vain; they found him slaughtered on the threshold of the house! Of the thousand or so souls in the village, there is no one left! On the same day, we discovered this later, when the crime was committed in the school, the Ustasha captured another 800 inhabitants of the village of Prebilovci and threw them all into a pit or killed them in animalistic fashion on the way to the pit.
Only about 300 men were saved. They were the only ones who managed to break through the Ustasha ring around the village and escape to the mountains! Those 300 survivors are stronger than Pavelic’s most elite division. Everything they had to lose they lost! Children, wives, mothers, sisters, houses, property. They are even freed from the fear of death. The meaning of their life is only in revenge, in their terrible revenge is, in a way, shame that they survived! And Herzegovina, Bosnia, Lika, Dalmatia are full of such villages, such as Prebilovci.
The massacres of Serbs reached such proportions that many water sources were polluted in those regions. From a spring in Popovo Polje, not far from the pit into which 4,000 Serbs were thrown, reddish water gushed out, I saw it for myself! An indelible stain will fall on the conscience of Italy and our culture, if, while there is time, we do not distance ourselves from the Ustasha and prevent us from being accused of supporting insanity!”
After such events, the Italian army came to the protection of Serbian life and expelled the Ustasha from Istria and Dalmatia.

I did, but that’s not the point. The point is, did you see any of those shows? Including those you presume happened or perhaps did not happen? I acknowledge, it is easier today with malicious narratives being debunked almost instantly thanks to the internet. The lies, that were thrown at the Serbian people then, were never seriously challenged and are still hard stuck on.

Serbs did not mind Bosnian Muslims not calling themselves Serbs of Muslim Faith or former Serbs, but it is a problem now, as they concocted an entire fake history, hiding their roots, claiming that they are indigenous people of Bosnia and that Serbs are intruders and appropriators of somebody else’s land, that Serbian King of Bosnia Tvrtko was a Bosniak King of Bosnia, although in his documents he praises Jesus Christ, calls him Lord, uses Serbian alphabet, etc. They go even further and swap the situation, claiming that Serbs are actually converts. It’s endless lying!
This is pretty much the case and M.O. with all artificial nations around Serbs like Croats, Bosniaks, Montenegrins, Albanians, and others, etc.
One of the main reasons that they are so brazen with this lying and theft of everything Serbian is that they are fully supported by the West, especially Contemporary Nazi Germany, Vatican, Austro-Hungarian Empire (AHE) while it existed, as well as even Russia with Greater Bulgaria Project. They actually started it all with e.g. pseudo-Porphyrogennetos, forgeries like Silver Codex, claiming that Goths are Germans, etc.

The “achievements” you list are disgraceful, they are all examples of intransigence and ethnocentrism. Nowhere in the Orthodox canon does it sanction that doctrine be frozen in the 14th century, disobedience of bishops and ecumenical councils, or that the laity be the final arbiter of religious principle. These are all innovations invented by the Oriental horde, the ungrateful mass of moral mediocrities that wish to persist in sin and decadence. They strike at the authority of the clergy so that they may subordinate the Kingship of Christ to their carnal desires.

My question was not related to the specific post in which it was posed. Rather it had been a burning question in my mind which I always wanted to ask, given that everything else that is great or important is claimed to be Serbian, I kept asking myself if these intriguing Serbian connections were not rooted in God’s creation of man and woman. Because that’s the only logical conclusion one can come to given Odyssey’s long list of references to Serbian greatness on the Unz review.
I thought it appropriate to ask the question in the only article so far that deals exclusively with Serbia, so that all Serb enthusiasts can hear the answer directly here from the horse’s mouth.
But Odyssey chose not to answer the question, which proves that the first human couple was not Serbian. This could invalidate a lot of the other claims made by Odyssey.
I think four points are worth making about the Ottoman Empire.
First, it lasted a long time — over six hundred years, for nearly four hundred of which it was a great power. For a single dynasty, that’s remarkable.
Second, it obviously had something on the ball. In 1402, Tamerlane wiped out the entire Ottoman army and captured the sultan. Yet the empire did not disintegrate; it survived, and went on to still great greater triumphs. That argues some serious internal strength.
Third, the West spent so much of its history in conflict with it that it’s almost impossible to make a detached judgement about it; our whole historical consciousness — the Fall of Constantinople, the martyrs of Otranto, the siege(s) of Vienna, Gladstone’s ‘Unspeakable Turk’ — almost forces one to either condemn it or be contrarian and praise it. The ‘Turk’ becomes a figure of fear, or revulsion, or of decay, or of pretended admiration — but never one to be simply accepted.
Fourth, for all our burbling about ‘diversity is our strength,’ the Ottoman Empire may be the only example of truly stable multi-confessional, multi-ethnic state. Want diversity? Maybe it’s this or anarchy.

If anyone previously thought that I exaggerated in my assessment that Croats are a genocidal group, meaning that 100% of them, without a single exception, support the genocide of their fathers, the likes of which have never been seen in human history, now they could see it for themselves.
It’s not just the psycho who, with Ron’s permission, changes many names to create the impression of a broad anti-Serbian action, but also all the others, including the Croat authors to whom Ron occasionally gives space (Subic, Zaja). Not one of that group has ever even tried to deny the truth of the table in #84 or #145.

MYTH: “TWO MILLION SERBS DIED”
Myth: Between 500,000 and 2,000,000 Serbs were n dered by the Croatian government during World War II.
Reality: The exact number of war victims in Yugoslavia during World War II may never be known due to fifty years of intentional disinformation by the Yugoslavian and Serbian governments, Serbian exile groups, and others. However, it is likely that approximately one million people of all nationalities died of war-related causes in all of Yugoslavia during World War II and that as many as 125,000 Serbs died of war-related causes in Croatia during the War.
The question of war losses during World War II represented the most divisive, heated and emotional issue among all of the nationalities of the former Yugoslavia during the post-War period. The bloody multi-sided war in Yugoslavia involved the German, Italian, Ustase, Partizan, Domobran, White Guard, Slovenian Guard and at least four different Cetnik armies. The multifaceted war pitted Serbs against Serbs, Croatians against Croatians, Serbs against Croatians, and Serbian Orthodox against Catholics and Muslims. The loss of life was heavy and difficult to document. As the war progressed, and even long after the war ended, the mythology of the numbers of victims continued to grow.
Growing Numbers
On the question of the number of Serbs killed in Croatia, it became possible to simply pick a number and virtually any press medium in the world would publish the figure without question. In one sixty day period in late 1991, David Martin put the number at 500,000 in the New York Times; Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic at 750,000 in USA Today; Josif Djordjevich at 1,200,000 in the San Francisco Chronicle; Teddy Preuss at 1,500,000 in the Jerusalem Post; and, setting an all-time record, Peter Lennings’ ABC News program set the figure at a record 2,000,000. Further, each of the sources added a separate twist to the number. For some, the number represented total “killed,” for others “murdered,” others “murdered in concentration camps,” and still others did not define how the losses occurred. None listed any source for the figures.
To illustrate the magnitude of these charges, it would require killing one person every 90 seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the entire duration of the War to reach Mr. Preuss figure of 1,500,000. The fact is one million people did not die in Croatia from all causes during the War. Many scholars doubt that there were a million lives lost to war-related causes in all of Yugoslavia during World War II.
Yet this mythology runs deeper than virtually any other. As early as April i942, only twelve months into the war, the Serbian Urthodox Church in America, based upon Mihailovic’s reports, claimed that over one million Serbs had already been killed in Croatia. As the war progressed, the numbers continued to grow in the Serbian press until actually exceeding the number of Serbs in Croatia. It must be noted that, just as in the wars of 1991-1995, no Croatian or Bosnian troops set foot in Serbia during World War II. Thus all accounting of Serbian losses must be for those living in Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovnia.
Immediately, following the formation of Croatian independent state, groups of ustaše started raiding Serbian villages, often deceiving people to gather, only to be taken to slaughter or locked in churches to be burned or finished by hand. The gruesome and unspeakable terror continued throughout the war. Even Italians were horrified to such extent that they provided protection and protested to Pope (for the crimes were committed under the leadership of many Franciscans). The number of murdered Serbs, when added to Jasenovac figures will be in order of 1.5 million.
The roots of Servophobia are from the beginning of time. It is you who claim that the Servs are the oldest people in history.

It’s all so tiresome.
Many Croats know their family trees going back centuries. They have documentation, Venetian records, Austrian records, church records but none of that stops the lying Servs from repeating, ad nauseum, yet another old trope how Croat grandfathers kept orthodox icons/heirlooms from when their ancestors were “originally Orthodox.”
Go away. We’ve heard it a million times, and it still isn’t true and never will be.
You should pause and ponder why the lying Servs incessantly claim all their neighbors as their own, yet none of the neighbors claim the Servs as their own.
You should think about why that is. The amalgam nation must falsely claim its neighbors for a lack of culture, status, pride, tradition and history and to compensate for 500 years of Ottoman SERVitude. The relentlessness is pathological.

Professor Dr. Gideon Greif has revealed information about the victims of torture in Jasenovac.
Jasenovac was a death camp in Croatia for Serbs, Jews, and Roma, set up and operated by the Ustasha regime of the Nazi-allied Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during the Second World War.
Based on information he received during his four-year work on a study entitled, “Jasenovac, the Auschwitz of the Balkans,” Greif said that at least 800,000 Serbs and about 40,000 Jews had been killed in Jasenovac in the most brutal manner. “Jasenovac was the empire of death,” Greif points out, adding that revisionism represents a second murder of the victims.
“We must direct all our forces against revisionism, so that the victims would not become victims again. Facts are facts and we cannot sweep them under the rug, the truth always comes out. I consider all these attempts to revise history to be childish, they are all condemned to failure,” he stressed.
In Jasenovac, Greif continued, there were “57 different ways of killing the victims.”
“I am sure that there weren’t as many in Auschwitz. It’s a world record. There has not been something of the kind in the history of the humankind,” he said, adding that there should be no doubt about the number of the (overall) victims, and recalling that an investigation by a joint Croatian-Serbian commission showed that this number was 1.4 million.
Greif said he had devoted four years to his research and that there was is not a single archive that he has not studied. “The results are shocking for their cruelty, sadism… The chain of camps known as Jasenovac, located on 46 square kilometers, six times larger than Auschwitz, was actually a reflection of pure cruelty. The Ustashas enjoyed their cruelty, they enjoyed torturing people. I would say that they had perfected the death,” said Greif.
As for the differences between Jasenovac and Auschwitz, he said that the (German) National Socialists didn’t like to have their victims before their eyes, they liked “clean deaths” – whereas the Ustashas enjoyed feeling the suffering of their victims.
“There is a difference, they wanted to see the process of the dying of the victims. We can see that from the photographs taken in Jasenovac, while the Germans preferred gas chambers, which, if nothing else, you didn’t have to look at. It was, so to speak, a sterile death,” said Greif.
According to him, another difference is that the Germans, in addition to the humiliation and the torture meant for their victims – actually used their physical labour, while in Jasenovac, the suffering was the only purpose – the suffering of the victims, until their very death.
Attached is a Croatian documentary film shot in 1945 while the war was still going on. Although it tries to balance and show that everyone was a victim (the so-called anti-fascists), it is still clear that the victims were mostly Serbs.
The Croats themselves say in the film that there were 840,000 victims in Jasenovac alone. A dozen or so other execution sites where Serbs were killed in the most brutal way are also briefly shown, and there were hundreds and thousands of such places (like those in #145).

The knife ‘Srbosjek’ (‘Serbcutter’) gained notoriety because it was used by the Croatian Ustashas during World War II for the killing of prisoners in the concentration camps of the Nazi-puppet Independent State of Croatia, most notably the Jasenovac concentration camp.
The upper part of the knife was made of leather, as a sort of a glove, designed to be worn with the thumb going through the hole, so that only the blade protruded from the hand. It was a curved, 12 cm long knife with the edge on its concave side. The knife was fastened to a bowed oval copper plate, while the plate was fastened to a thick leather bangle. The knife was fixed on the glove plate in order to prevent injuries and to prevent taking care of a separate knife in order to improve the work speed.
It is said that in the Jasenovac concentration camp competitions in speedy slaughter were organized by the Ustashas. The winner of one such competition, Petar Brzica slit the throats of 1360 Serbian prisoners in a single night.

During the ww2, only Croatians had a special concentration camp for Serbian children run by Catholic Church nuns. Before they killed children, Croats were digging their eyes, putting them in barrels and throwing to the river Sava with a message – ‘a gift to Serbian children’ to float downstream to Belgrade. Thousands of killed Serbs were also thrown in the river Sava to float to Belgrade where it was not possible to breath because of decaying corpses.

MYTH: “THE BASKET OF HUMAN EYEBALLS”
Myth: The Croatian wartime Chief-of-State Ante Pavelic routinely maintained a basket containing twenty kilos of human eyeballs at his desk side.
Reality: This statement is literally a work of fiction taken from the novel Kaputt by Curzio Malaparte (Kurt Suckert, also known as Gianni Strozzi). The book was written as fiction, sold as fiction, and is cataloged in every library in the world as fiction. To cite Kaputt as a source about World War II is analogous to citing Gone With the Wind as an authoritative history of the American Civil War.
That this tired tale is still being retold is the second most amazing part of this myth. More amazing is that anybody, no matter how blinding their hatred of Croatians, could believe it. And yet this myth was quoted as fact as recently as 1995 in official publications printed in Belgrade by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Serbia and repeated by naive journalists around the world. The myth survived and was given renewed life by the Serbian government, journalists and politicians because it came with quotation marks. The legend had a footnote, a citation, an author and all the trappings of fact. The author was often cited as “the most famous Italian writer,” “the Italian journalist” and even the “famed Italian historian”, Curzio Malaparte. His famous quote from the 1946 English translation of the novel Kaputt reads:
While he spoke, I gazed at a wicker basket on the Poglavnik’s desk. The lid was raised and the basket seemed to be filled with mussels, or shelled oysters –as they are occasionally displayed in the windows ”of Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly in London.
Castertano looked at me and winked, “Would you like a nice oyster stew?”
“Are they Dalmatian oysters?” I asked the Poglavnik.
Ante Pavelic removed the lid from the basket and revealed the mussels, that slimy and jelly-like mass, and he said smiling, with that tired good-natured smile of his, “It is a present from my loyal usatshis. Forty pounds of human eyes.”
Kaputt and its author both had fascinating stories to tell. In the original press release for the book, Malaparte ed that the manuscript was started in the Ukraine in 1941 and smuggled throughout Europe in coat linings and in the soles of his shoes. Finally, the manuscript was divided into three parts and given to three diplomats, to be reunited in 1943 on Capri where it was finished. The book chronicled Malaparte’s movements around Europe in 1941 and 1942, when he claimed to have visited every front and knew every head of state, usually on a; first name basis. Malaparte apparently spoke every language and shared the charms of every beautiful princess.
According to his own preface to Kaputt, his personal friendships with Mussolini, Hitler and others did not save him from being thrown into jail in July 1943 as antiGerman. Miraculously, he was soon freed and was working for the Allies by September of that year. It was while working as a propagandist for the Allies that Malaparte conipleted Kaputt, which he described as “…horribly gay and gruesome.”
The critics agreed. Malaparte’s two major books, Kaputt and Skin were 5 labeled “Best selling Nausea” by Time magazine. His writings contained pages of sordid tales about the evil world of Fascist Europe. Malaparte’s basket of human eyeballs must be taken in context, as Time magazine wrote in 1952:
“He shows mothers who sell their children into prostitution; but then, says Malaparte with a smirk, there are also the children who would gladly sell their mothers. He dwells for part of a chapter on a street peopled with twisted female dwarfs, who fed, he asserts gleefully, on the unnatural lust in the American ranks. Another chapter is concerned with a visit to a shop that sells blonde pubic wigs. U.S. soldiers, Malaparte explains, like blondes.”
These offensive themes only scratch the surface of Malaparte’s sick writings. That the Allies won the War through the devices of a “homosexual maquis”, flags of human skin, and an Allied general who served his guests a boiled child are all included in Malaparte’s fare.
Rafaelo Casertano, until his death in 1962, never denied these allegations of Malaparte – which are really hard for a normal person to believe – and they were explicitly confirmed by another high fascist representative in the NDH, Francesco Bassotti:
The German plenipotentiary in Croatia, General Glaise von Horstenau, already wrote in his diary at the end of May 1941:
The head of the administrative staff of the Supreme Commander in Serbia, ministerial director and SS-Gruppenführer, Dr. Harald Turner, reported on September 3, 1941:
The number of Serbian victims of around 200,000 from April 10 to the beginning of September 1941 is also confirmed by Menachem Shelah based on numerous reports of the Italian occupation force, which are found in the Italian archives. Those reports speak of “the open announcement of the Ustasha rulers to destroy all Serbs in the new Croatian state and of monstrous massacres of Serbian elders, women and children.” Further on the “mass killing, expulsion and violent conversion to Catholicism of the rest of the Serbian population”, as well as “numerous cases of rescuing helpless Serbian victims by the Italian army”. 1993), Heft 2, Institut für Zeitgeschichte, München.]]
The same was confirmed by American Ruth Mitchell, another eyewitness. During the April War in 1941, she stayed in Dubrovnik and experienced the entry of the Ustasha into the city; later the Italians repatriated her to the USA, where in 1943 she wrote a book about her experience:
The Nazi Commander-in-Chief in Serbia, General Paul Bader stated on February 5, 1942:
“The Croats have, without any doubt, the intention to destroy the entire Serbian population…”[20]
In a report for SS-Reichsführer Himmler, the head of the Security Service and the SD explains, on February 17, 1942:

By the way, on October 9, 1942, Vjekoslav Maks Luburić organized a celebration in the Jasenovac concentration camp and ceremoniously presented gold and silver medals to “deserving camp guards”. On that occasion, he declared: “Here in Jasenovac, we killed more people in just one year than the Ottoman Empire did during the entire time of its entire presence in Europe“.[39]
Let’s clarify all of these numbers of slaughtered Serbs during WW2 in the Vatican’s Holocaust [1], i.e. WW2 genocide of the Orthodox Christian Serbs.

First, main executioners of this genocide: Vatican (blessing from the Pope to commence, around 1,300 Croatian Catholic clergy as direct participants in murders and torture), Croats, and Bosnian Muslims (aka “Bosniaks”).

1) Final number/estimate: To be determined, as most of those mass-execution sites, including dismantled multiple extermination camps locations, are in Contemporary Nazi Croatia (ethnically cleansed, <5% non-Croats). It's better that those excavations are not done now, as Croats would hide/destroy all evidence, as they have full support from the West who would help, also Western puppet that rules Serbia, as well as indirectly by Russia as a traitor to Serbia and would help their Croatian Nazi buddies, just as they armed them in 1993/94. USSR actually helped large WW2 operation in 1943/44 specifically planned and organized to hide WW2 genocide of the Serbian people (aka Vatican's Holocaust). That operation [2] was done by the USSR, Vatican, Britain, USA, and Yugoslav communists (Tito, etc.).
2) Close to 2,000,000 (2 million): That’s an estimate from Nazi SS officers stationed in WW2 Nazi Croatia (NDH). It’s the number based on their reports and probably the most accurate we have so far.
3) 1,400,000 (1.4 million) That was just Jasenovac extermination camp location estimate by Gideon Greif that can be found in his book ‘Jasenovac – Auschwitz of the Balkans’. He claims that the actual number is for sure higher as many Serbs were burned in furnaces and thrown into Sava River. BTW, Jasenovac was five times bigger than Auschwitz, and not the only extermination camp in Nazi Croatia, just the biggest one.
4) 700,000 (700k) After the WW2, communists (non-Serb Tito, Croats, and Slovenians that ruled Yugoslavia) had to allow some forensics only at dismantled Jasenovac extermination camp work to estimate number of killed by Croats. As the forensics work progressed and death estimates reached 700k Serbs murdered just there in Jasenovac, communists stopped all forensics work, which was still in progress with no end in sight, and rolled back the number to 70k. So, again 700k was not final by any means, did not include victims killed in 100s of locations outside of Jasenovac. In other words, communists stopped it just as damage control.
5) 70k: Mentioned in the previous point. This is just what non-Serb communists that ruled Yugoslavia lowered the number to and made it official, as Yugoslavia was ruled by non-Serb Tito, Croats, and Slovenians.
6) 80k: That was most likely just a typo by someone who was writing about the topic and did not recall whether it was 70k or 80k, and that got repeated by some other authors.

Some additional numbers not seen/discussed often:
8) 70,000 (70k) Serb civilians shipped to Jasenovac in just one WW2 operation around Kozara Region: This number was mentioned by Austrian Chancellor Kurt Waldheim, after his Nazi past was discovered and revealed to the world by one Serbian investigative reporter (Danko Vasović). His discovery upset Vatican and Yugoslav communists so much, as it indirectly challenged their fake official 70k number for the entire WW2, since 70k reported by Kurt [7] was just one operation out of many, that they tried to assassinate Danko.

One may ask: How was the Vatican’s Holocaust [1], i.e., the World War II genocide of the Orthodox Christian Serbs, prevented from being discovered?
This is especially puzzling considering that slaughter took place in hundreds of locations, over a large area, and over a period of more than four years. There were multiple large extermination camps too; the largest, Jasenovac, was five times larger than Auschwitz.
So, how was it possible to hide the slaughter of two million Orthodox Christian Serbs?
Well, if enough countries work together to prevent the truth from coming out, then it does indeed become possible! Read on below.

In 1943, it became clear that Germany will lose the war, and that the Chetnics (Serbian King Special Forces / Legionaries / Guerrilla ) will free Balkans from Nazi occupation and that the genocide that Vatican, Croats, and Bosnian Muslims perpetrated upon the Serbian people would be exposed and found out. So, the deal was made between Vatican, Britain, USA, USSR, and Tito’s communists. They’d help Tito get in power over Yugoslavia if he promises to hide Vatican’s Holocaust. Yes, you read that right – part of the deal included an agreement with the USSR to help achieve this goal. USSR was actually crucial participant of that plan/operation!
So what was the plan?
British and US would bomb Serbia repeatedly starting in 1943 to inflict maximum death and damage to the population, all in order to prevent Chetnics and Serb civilians to rise up and free themselves from weakened Germany, until Soviet Army reaches territory of Serbia, occupies it, abolishes monarchy, and hands it over to Tito’s communists.
So, Serbia was bombed relentlessly in 1943/1944 by Britain and US! The way Dresden was bombed, multiple cities in Serbia were bombed multiple times! Belgrade was bombed 11 times! Damage to the German troops stationed there were minimal as the main targets were Serb civilians, Chetnics, Serbian cities, civilian infrastructure, etc.
The plan worked – Soviet Army entered Serbia in 1944, chased away Germans, back-stabbed and betrayed Chetnics, abolished monarchy, and gave the power to Tito, who essentially just walked in and took power without fighting. After Tito took power, and Soviets left as mission accomplished, genocide against Serbian people started even in Serbia proper, on top of Nazi Croatia territory, Bosnia, etc. – communists mass-murdered at least 250,000 Serb civilians post “liberation”.
Communists kept their promise – they dismantled all Croatian extermination camps in 1945, hid all the evidence, lists, documentation, concrete-sealed all the pit caves and mass graves with 100s of thousands of murdered Serbs, and made it gulag-risky to research and report.
And that is how the Vatican’s Holocaust stayed one of the most hidden genocides in human history!

D-Day!
Preventing discovery of the Vatican’s Holocaust may have been the main reason why D-Day took place in Normandy, where it was much, much harder to break through, rather than through the Adriatic and into Nazi Croatia, which would have been far easier. This is because the genocide against the Serbian people would have been discovered by American soldiers passing through the Balkans. As mentioned, there were multiple large extermination camps (e.g. Jasenovac being five times the size of Auschwitz) and hundreds of local execution sites: pit caves, pits, villages, towns, and more. As a matter of fact, Serbian Chetniks had prepared the Adriatic Sea coast for a D-Day landing, upon British and U.S. request. Then, a deal was made with the Vatican.

Nobody is denying the barbarity of the Croat murderers, but you have the 1931 and 1948 censuses of Yugoslavia to compare. I think you will find that there were not 2 million Orthodox (Serbs) in Croatia before the war and not even if you include the 1 million in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To reach that number the Croats would have to have killed all the Serbs in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the parts of Vojvodina they controlled (and maybe even some more) so in the post war census there would have been no Serbs in those regions but it still showed substantial numbers, not too different from the 1931 census. Explain that. (There was a difference that in the 1931 census religion was used while nationality was used in the 1948 census but still it is clear that most of the Orthodox would have been Serbs).
At TUR we try to be truth seekers and not propagandists so try to get to the bottom of this: matching census numbers with reported numbers of the murdered and explaining any discrepancies.
We have 1000s of documents, letters, photos, testimonies including ones from very pedantic Germans about all this, yet you rely on two ledger books with just couple of numbers that could have been forged/changed any time.
Communists (non-Serb Tito, Croats, Slovenians) were murderers of Serbs, had full control of the books after 1944, and did many things to hide true numbers, as I described in my comment. Do you really think that they did not touch anything on paper? Communists were known for making forgeries using period paper to accuse opponents of crimes.
On the other side, pre-WW2 Yugoslavia had many Croats in very high positions with access. Croats built huge extermination camps during their 2-year Banovina Hrvatska genocide prep phase (1939-1941), yet somehow left the census ledger books intact, without fudging the numbers? That was probably the first thing they did. All one has to do is change 3 to 1 and make 2 million Serbs disappear from records. How hard is that if you have full access? Croats even had one dedicated department in charge of only administering destruction of Serbian Orthodox Christian churches during WW2. That’s how meticulous they were in this genocide.

Yeah, well anything is possible, and that could be an explanation. Except that Croats, Slovenians and others claim that they were the victims in Tito’s Yugoslavia which they say was dominated by Serbs who exploited others. Why did the Slovenians and Croats leave Yugoslavia if they had been in charge and if everything there had been in their favour, including the falsification of the census reports to cover up the crimes of the Croats?
There is no indication whatsoever that Tito’s regime covered up the crime of Jasenovac and even the book you reference by Avro Manhattan thanks the Yugoslav government for cooperating with him and providing data. He doesn’t mention anywhere that the Yugoslav government tried to obstruct him or hide anything.
There is zero forensic evidence for their claims. They have a victimology industry akin to the Holocaust Industry, and they ply their trade well. Were you to believe their claims, you would bave to suspend reality and live in the parallel universe they live in. One which includes the Servs mingling with the Annunaki, having created Egyptian civilization and having built the Aztec and Mayan piramids. This is a pertinent question you ask. Slovenia and Croatia were the wealthiest republics in Yugoslavia, so much for mistreatment. The lies about Serbian aggression and mistreatment were spread freely precisely to create the reason for the brake up. The break up was engineered by the same external forces, which created the country, after the collapse of Soviet Union and when it stopped serving its purpose. Going a bit deeper, Yugoslavia was allowed to exist under communism to cover for the crimes of the catholic clergy and the likes, to preserve the “values” under which European elites existed for centuries. Think how Greek communism was ruthlessly suppressed by the British at the same time as Tito and Churchill were the best buddies. The famous “brotherhood and unity” was just a ruse to keep the victims and the criminals under the same lid. Croats never expected it. The Serbs did as it provided a common space for the scattered people to live together. Tito operated relatively freely in the areas which were under independent state of Croatia, never fought anyone except when chased and cornered by Germans. He certainly never fought Usthasas. He was chased by Germans out of the country in 1944 and only came back in with Soviets during their liberation of Belgrade. So much for his courageous fight. The communist elite was Croatian and Slovenian. Serbs bought into it for ideological reasons. The fighters were initially mostly Serbs from the areas were Ustasha slaughters we’re most devastating. The actual Serbian resistance, operationally active throughout the war, was betrayed by the king, who was in exile in London, who ordered his people to submit to the communist rule. This was done after heavy pressure from Churchill. This was a devastating betrayal, which cost Serbian people dearly. Throughout the communist rule, the Serbs were given the leat preferential treatment. For example in Kosovo, Albanians were allowed to immigrate and settle in the traditional Serbian homeland completely altering demographic status. The resident ustasha manU on this site will tell you that this is all lies, however is the one who benefited from the communist rule. He serves a different master now.
At the end of the 19th century (i.e. 130-140 years ago) on the territory of today’s (i.e. with communist borders) Croatia, Serbs were the majority according to the Austrian census. The Vatican Council decided that Croatia must be cleansed of Serbs by the year 2000. Even in the Ustashas Croatia in 1941, Croats made up only 50% of the population.
The goal of the civil war in the 90s and the Croatian leader Tudjman, was to reduce the number of Serbs in Croatia to only 3% of the population, mostly old people who did not want to leave their homes at the cost of being killed, which really happened to many in 1995, by the Croatian paramilitary as a replay of the genocide against the Serbs in 1941.
These student protesters might have been disappointed by Minister of Family Welfare and Demography Darija Kisić stepping down in May 2024. It looks like that Ministry deals with a number of different quality of life issues in Serbia that probably are important to the protesters, including European integration. Now it’s headed by a “far-right” politician, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, who opposes the color revolutionary stooges.

Good that you mentioned Austria, as the Croat kingdom was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire for a thousand years, during which it maintained its diet (Sabor) and all other attributes of statehood. All the while, your beloved Servia was a Turkish occupied territory for 500 years.
