One of the delights of revisiting old movies after many years is finding out that you completely misread or misremembered certain scenes. Early on in the first part of Leni Riefenstahl’s Olympia, we have the entry parades of the national teams. When the French team come by, they drag their flag in the dust – because, or so I assumed decades ago, these robust athletes were utterly disgusted with the new Popular Front government under the hapless Léon Blum (or “Jew Blum,” as snooty Time magazine called him). Then these French athletes march on – eyes right! – with perfectly choreographed Roman salutes as they pass the Führer at the reviewing stand. The crowds in the Berlin stadium clap and cheer loudly. Austria and Italy give the same salute, of course; but this is France.

Only trouble is, that’s not what was really going on. I was a victim of my own wishful thinking. All the teams were supposed to dip their national banners in salute to the host; perhaps the French tricolor drooped just a little too far. And that salute that the French team gave to Hitler and company was merely the “Olympic salute”: your right arm fully extended à droite. Olympic teams had been doing this for decades. After Berlin, however, the International Olympic Committee decided it might be a good idea to abolish it.

As I review press clips for Leni Riefenstahl over the decades, I find myself faced with similar misconceptions. I had thought she had pretty much been treated as a villain, an outcast, someone never written about without a verbal sneer and spit. But this is not the case at all. When Time magazine had its 75th anniversary celebration at Radio City Music Hall in 1998 with hundreds of still-living cover subjects, Leni Riefenstahl was there, as one of its most celebrated and honored guests, along with such equally notorious cover-cuties as Julia Child, President Bill Clinton, and Sean Connery. There was no finger-wagging in the press about how Leni had been a friend of Hitler’s who had filmed Nuremberg rallies. She was now 95, and Time Inc. was very happy to have her.

The year before that, Riefenstahl had gone to Los Angeles to receive a tribute at a film festival. While there was routine outcry from the expected sources (mainly Rabbi Abe Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center), these protests were mainly laughed at.

It was around this time that there was an ersatz scandal in Hollywood surrounding a new Brad Pitt movie, Seven Years in Tibet, dramatizing the adventures of an Austrian skier and mountain climber named Heinrich Harrer. Shortly before the film’s premiere in LA, it was revealed that the bold mountaineer had once been in the SS. Worse yet, he’d once appeared in a skiing documentary by Leni Riefenstahl.

Writing in The Spectator in 1997, William Cash treated the whole Riefenstahl/Harrer hoohah as a marvelous joke:

Only last month, LA’s Jewish Rage lobby became highly agitated when it was discovered that Leni Riefenstahl had made an unpublicised visit to receive an award at an LA film festival. Harrer was contracted to appear in a film Riefenstahl made about skiing in 1938. ‘They sneaked her into town,’ fumed Rabbi Cooper.

To placate LA’s militant rabbi faction, a would-be diplomatic photo-opportunity meeting was set up in Vienna between the Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal and Herr Harrer. Wiesenthal was left unimpressed by Harrer’s efforts to explain why he had kept his past hidden for 50 years . . .[1]William Cash, “Brad Suddenly Turns Nazi,” The Spectator (London), October 11, 1997.

One gathers that Harrer’s real offense was not nominal membership in the Schutzstaffel, but appearing in a Leni Riefenstahl movie.

Even when she died in 2003, Riefenstahl got little more than a perfunctory “naughty-naughty” in her New York Times obituary, and that showed up mainly in the headline (“Leni Riefenstahl, Filmmaker and Nazi Propagandist, Dies at 101”). Much of this obituary is devoted to the fact that she took up scuba-diving at age 71, and sparked controversy with a photographic book of naked Africans (The Last of the Nuba, 1974). And then, inevitably, there is a reference to the long-winded philippic that Susan Sontag wrote about her, “Fascinating Fascism,” in The New York Review of Books in 1975. In death as in life, what was newsworthy wasn’t so much Riefenstahl or her work, but rather what people were saying about her.

What really comes out, in seventy-odd years of Riefenstahl newspaper files, is that she always tried to keep a firm hand on her publicity. Her efforts were not always successful. Shortly before visiting Southern California in 1938 (to visit friends, she claimed, but also to promote Olympia), she had it put about that she had been denounced by Joseph Goebbels. According to the wire-service stories, Dr. Goebbels claimed to have discovered that Leni had some Jewish blood, way back there. We find Goebbels having her evicted from a Berlin cocktail party, declaring that he could not remain while there was a non-Aryan present. (The truth of the matter seems to be that Leni was a tiny bit Polish.)

This widely-publicized tale was such transparent press-flackery that it’s not surprising that the “Jewish Leni” story had been pretty much forgotten by the time she got to Hollywood. Anyway, the studios weren’t having any of it – or her; the “Jewish Rage lobby” took out ads in the trade papers, demanding that producers have nothing to do with Fräulein Riefenstahl. The only one who met her, one reads, was Walt Disney.

The 1950s and ‘60s were a relatively quiet time for Riefenstahl. While she couldn’t make movies anymore, she wasn’t being slammed as a Hitlerite villain, either. Or rather, when she was, these attacks always seemed to be Red-inspired, and were identified as such. In 1960, Britain’s National Film Theatre was forced by Communist pressure to cancel a Riefenstahl lecture. This prompted some head-scratching in the press: Why do we allow Communists to speak, but not someone who was friends with the Nazis? Asked columnist Keith Kyle in London: “Should the fact that she is a German make her ineligible to the tolerance due to a politically deviant artist of another nationality?”[2]Keith Kyle, “Not for Export,” syndicated column in New York Post, January 15, 1960.

Paradoxically, Riefenstahl’s most enduring negative criticism came from someone who had made her own reputation, in part, by defending Riefenstahl’s work. That critic was Susan Sontag. As in the New York Times obituary mentioned above, Sontag’s long anti-Leni bill of particulars from 1975 has a way of popping up in every critical study and biographical treatment of the filmmaker. Sontag’s pretend-outrage was based on Riefenstahl’s continued insistence on telling her own story: e.g., she was never a Nazi, but she liked Hitler, didn’t get along with Goebbels, and wasn’t going to apologize for any of this. There are many amazing passages in the Sontag screed, but the key one is probably this:

[W]hether or not Riefenstahl deserved a prison sentence, it was not her “acquaintance” with the Nazi leadership but her activities as a leading propagandist for the Third Reich that were at issue.[3]Susan Sontag, “Fascinating Fascism,” The New York Review of Books, February 6, 1975.

So she was a propagandist? This runs completely counter to the provocative pro-Riefenstahl argument that Sontag had made a decade earlier (see below). Rhetorically, we must ask why. And the answer is: feminism! Not the nonsensical Leftism that masquerades under that name today, but the old-fashioned formula, which in its time at least purported to be interested in gifted women who went against the grain. And near the top of the list you’d always find Leni Riefenstahl, the one outstanding female filmmaker of the twentieth century. By 1973 and 1974, she was being written about and honored at “women’s film festivals” in Telluride and New York, and few people seemed to be complaining.

This was a perfect opening for Sontag the contrarian. Her real target was feminism’s trendiness, but that agendum got lost in her massive attack on Riefenstahl, in a review that wasn’t even about Riefenstahl’s film career, but ostensibly covered Riefenstahl’s new photo book, The Last of the Nuba.

There are many glorious nuggets in this maddening seven thousand-word essay. Let me offer a couple:

Fascist art glorifies surrender, it exalts mindlessness, it glamorizes death. Such art is hardly confined to works labeled as fascist or produced under fascist governments. (To cite films only: Walt Disney’s Fantasia, Busby Berkeley’s The Gang’s All Here, and Kubrick’s 2001 also strikingly exemplify certain formal structures and themes of fascist art.)

Nazi art is reactionary, defiantly outside the century’s mainstream of achievement in the arts. But just for this reason it has been gaining a place in contemporary taste. The left-wing organizers of a current exhibition of Nazi painting and sculpture . . . in Frankfurt have found, to their dismay, the attendance excessively large and hardly as serious-minded as they had hoped. Even when flanked by didactic admonitions from Brecht and by concentration-camp photographs, what Nazi art reminds these crowds of is – other art of the 1930s, notably Art Deco. . . . The same aesthetic responsible for the bronze colossi of Arno Breker – Hitler’s (and, briefly, Cocteau’s) favorite sculptor – and of Josef Thorak also produced the muscle-bound Atlas in front of Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center . . .[4]Susan Sontag, “Fascinating Fascism.”

Goodness, everything is fascist or Nazi, it seems. But I come back now to my main point, which is that Sontag was trying to walk back her earlier defense of Riefenstahl, published in Partisan Review, where she first made her name. Her first big-think piece there was something called “Notes on Camp,” which, apart from “Fascinating Fascism,” may still be her best-known essay. It’s mainly just a long “listicle” in which she enumerates about a hundred pop-culture totems (Tiffany lamps, Scopitone films, the Brown Derby restaurant) that she believes to be infused with a kind of male-homosexual ironical sensibility. There’s that famous line: “Camp sees everything in quotation marks. It’s not a lamp, but a ‘lamp’; not a woman, but a ‘woman.’”[5]Susan Sontag, “Notes on Camp,” Partisan Review (New York), No. 4, 1964.

That was in 1964. The following year, she followed up with an essay on a similar theme, “On Style.” And here we find her enduring politics-be-damned critical defense of Leni Riefenstahl.

Sontag’s pro-Leni thrust is, essentially, that whatever you may think of the “Nazi” content of Triumph of the Will or Olympia (which she calls The Olympiad) is really beside the point, and has no place in critical judgment. An artist needs material, content, sculptor’s clay to work with, and Riefenstahl’s material just happened to be memorable, eye-catching spectacle:

In art, “content” is, as it were, the pretext, the goal, the lure which engages consciousness in essentially formal processes of transformation.

This is how we can, in good conscience cherish works of art which, considered in terms of “content,” are morally objectionable to us. . . . To call Leni Riefenstahl’s The Triumph of the Will and The Olympiad masterpieces is not to gloss over Nazi propaganda with aesthetic lenience. The Nazi propaganda is there. But something else is there, too, which we reject at our loss. Because they project the complex movements of intelligence and grace and sensuousness, these two films of Riefenstahl (unique among works of Nazi artists) transcend the categories of propaganda or even reportage. And we find ourselves – to be sure, rather uncomfortably – seeing “Hitler” and not Hitler, the “1936 Olympics” and not the 1936 Olympics. Through Riefenstahl’s genius as a film-maker, the “content” has – let us even assume, against her intentions-come to play a purely formal role.[6]Susan Sontag, “On Style,” Partisan Review (New York), No. 4, 1965.

A purely formal role! In other words, the films are not themselves political; they are rather documentaries about things that might or might not have political or propagandistic content. You need to stand back from them, as from a painting at a museum, to appreciate them fully. This parallels Sontag’s description of Camp irony: where you see not a woman, but a “woman”; not Hitler, but “Hitler.” The film “Hitler” is okay, because he’s just an actor or icon, unconnected to those nasty Nazis you see in Hollywood.

The argument is a bit tortured, but you get the point: Sontag likes Riefenstahl, and so should any fair critic. But when the time came for her to write “Fascinating Fascism,” Sontag had to forget her old precept and argue a new rule: content matters, content is all. Hence her long, tortured tangents about the fascism of Walt Disney, Stanley Kubrick, and Busby Berkeley, or Art Deco and Rockefeller Center.

Whether she really believed any of her later silliness or was just trying to entertain the reader is an open question. But her two contradictory arguments survive as the two popular poles of thought about Leni Riefenstahl.

Of course there’s a “third pole” of thought, too: Riefenstahl was an artist, and her content is fine. And her work needs no abstruse critical theory to justify it.

  2. This is a fine, contrarian piece. Leni, we hardly knew ye.

  3. I won’t question the lady’s talent and skill, but her overblown campy Krauts and overhung naked Nubians don’t speak well of her taste.

If she left works that don’t turn the stomach, I’ll be glad to take those into consideration. As long as it doesn’t cost anything.

Leni Riefenstahl could have put out something (I won’t even go so far as calling it a story) about Goebbels denouncing her (although she also may not have), but it was others, Americans exposed to 5 years of high pitched, relentless anti-German hatred with an intensity that only the Jew is capable of producing, or a Jew(s) himself who wrote the story about her being partly Jewish. And whether Leni liked or disliked Goebbels or Hitler is almost meaningless without more information. People like or dislike many people they meet and sometimes you like someone one day and dislike him the next. I seem to recall people often saying they liked or disliked this or that German leader that they had met, most likely being asked by a dumb American (which would best describe myself at one time) whether that person “liked” or “disliked” this or that “NAZI”, as if liking a “NAZI” seems impossible. Well, if he’s a “NAZI” probably nobody liked him, including Hitler. If “Fredo” is the Italians “N” word, then “NAZI” is the real “N” word, directed at Germans, but anyone that uses the real “N” word does not generate hatred, and may not even feel hatred himself, but the word “NAZI” is an unmatched expression of pure hatred. But America’s allies, the Commies were good. That explains “Antifa” and the next government the US will have if Trump is not reelected. Then we’ll see how white Americans feel after four years of that, LOL

Goebbels himself changed his mind about Jews, not due to any stupid Jew theory they attach to “NAZIS” about someone having an ounce of Jew blood, but for their repulsive hatred of others. David Irving explains that Goebbels grew up next door to a Jewish family that Goebbels’ parents were friends with and Goebbels spent a lot of time with the man of the family. Later in life Goebbels dated a Jewish woman and criticized another girlfriend for making a slightly unflattering comment about Jews (heaven forbid), and then later Irving explains how Goebbels came to be their biggest enemy. I wonder how many people can relate to Goebbels transformation?

Leni Riefenstahl has been called the greatest female director that ever lived and then I read someone clarifying that further, calling her the greatest director that ever lived.

Perhaps there was some substance to the rumor that Leni Riefenstahl had (some) “Jewish blood”. Here is a picture of hers in her old age. Judge for yourself :

  6. Justice would have been done if this woman (Leni Rienfensthal) was forcibly married to a black guy and made to bear his babies in Africa.
Many daughters of Nazi leaders were later found to be married with Black guys.

    – The fake scandal of ‘Leni Riefenstahl & the Nazis’ is simply irrational and easily demonstrated as such.

    – It’s a known fact that ‘the Nazis’ did not kill the fabled ‘6,000,000 Jews and 5,000,00o others’, and there were no ‘Nazi gas chambers’. Regardless of how much it’s repeated by Zionist shysters, the Germans could not perform magic, aka: the scientifically impossible.

    – What we are dealing with here is the classic question:
‘How many angels can dance on the head of a pin’?.
    There are no angels.

    As for the 1936 Olympics:
    – 1st: Germany was the overwhelming medals winner.
    – 2nd: Jesse Owens, black US Olympic athlete, debunked the lies that Hitler snubbed him because of his race.

    – Jesse Owens, after winning his events, said:

“When I passed the Chancellor he arose, waved his hand at me, and I waved back at him. I think the writers showed bad taste in criticizing the man of the hour in Germany.”

“Hitler didn’t snub me, it was FDR who snubbed me. The president didn’t even send me a telegram.”

    – Hitler and other heads of state were forbidden by Olympic officials from visiting any athletes after their events.
    – Hence the propaganda that said / says Hitler deliberately avoided Owens is just that, another Zionist lie.
    – Jesse Owens was never invited to the White House nor bestowed any honors by Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) or Harry S. Truman during their terms.

Leni Riefenstahl was a pioneer. Triump of the Will and Olympiad are masterpieces that have withstood the test of time. You’d think that the jews would’ve slaughtered her career, but for whatever reason, they didn’t. She exhibited that European value of Greatness and generated lasting value.

Meanwhile Susan Rosenblatt owed her success to other influential media jews who were shoving that hag into the spotlights. She hated the white race and thought it was a cancer on a planet – a laughable characterization coming from a member of a people that came up with communism and murdered at least 20 million human beings in the 20th century alone.

Supposedly, Owens actually met Hitler, at Hitler’s request, and shook his hand. The story goes that Owens carried a picture of that event in his wallet for the rest of his life.

As for the FDR/Truman “snubs”. In that more serious era, few, if any, Olympic athletes were invited to the White House.

Owens complained, in addition, that he couldn’t find a good job after the Olympics. Of course, back then the endorsement laws to remain an amateur were much stricter, and Olympic athletes had limited opportunities to cash in on their sport. As for regular jobs-it was the freaking Depression.

What did his job interviews look like:

“Tell us about your, skills and experience, young man-what can you do for our company”?

“I’ze kin run az fast az a muddafukka, suh”

“So can Man O’ War, son……NEXT!!!”

Ah Goebbels, the rascal. There were also rumors that he himself was of Jewish descent. Overdramatizing the demand to have poor Leni evicted from a social event would then seem to be circumstantial evidence for the veracity of those rumors.

Quite apart from the mass murder of Jews by the nazis, the relationship between tem is definitely a complex one, what with the Haavara agreement and the more than 100,000 Jewish soldiers in the nazi armed forces. And the “honorary aryans” such as Luftwaffe General Erhard Milch.

If Goebbels would not have wanted to share an event with Leni just because of her Jewish descent, I wonder why he would have allowed almost 300 Jewish artists, performers and movie industry people to go on working by handing them special status and permits?

    History is always such fun!

  15. If one translates the name Riefenstahl literally, it breaks down Grooved or Corrugated Steel, a building material that is lightweight but incredibly resistant to bending in the face of perpendicular (opposing) force.

The German technical term for corrugated steel is actually Wellblech, which breaks down literally to wave-shaped sheet steel, which seems somewhat mundane when compared to Riefenstahl.

As much of the Weimar German film industry was busy decamping to Hollywood and elsewhere in the 1930’s this gave an opportunity to a competent female film maker to show her stuff. One of the reasons for my interest in this letter from Sweden is that it explains

A fair criticism. But note the title of the piece. It’s impossible to sort through the noise about Riefenstahl over the past 55 years without addressing Sontag.

Like it or not, the popular view of Leni is filtered through commonplace notions amongst the Chattering Classes. I could have reduced the Sontag portion to a couple of grossed-up paragraphs, but that wouldn’t have told the story, and it would leave most readers mystified.

Viewed Leni Riefenstahl’s The Triumph of the Will

on a Library copy – just a month ago.

Her Movie, is largely a compilation of Nazi Political Rallies with speeches from Adolf Hitler.

What was of interest was that Hitler did not refer to Jews in these speeches. Now, whether or not the Library copy of Reifenstahl’s movie was ‘edited/censored’ is unknown to me, as I was not around to view the original version. But the Rallies and emotion within her “Triumph” expressed German Patriotic – Nationalistic views.

Hitler’s speeches were quite bland. I prefer the sparkling speeches of our last Constitutional President (delivered when America remained a Sovereign Nation), of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Kennedy’s speeches were filled with Humor, Intelligence, and strong Direction.

Clearly Leni Riefenstahl was an extroadinary Film Maker. I cannot recall one other woman who has had her ability, and artistic flair. Only a few men approach her brilliance (Peter Jackson comes to mind). She depicted the rise of German Fascism, not how the Zionist Land Thieves & New World Order terrorists teach it, but how it was.

PJ Collins did well to place a political foundation around his presentation of Riefenstahl, by comparing her with Susan Sontag. And compare he did. Ms. Sontag is her own enigma of changing opinions and worshipping of today’s Zionist New World Order, an Order, that in the aftermath, with the smoke still clearing, of the Epstein, Maxwell, Former ‘president’ Bill (that wasn’t sex) Clinton-in a Blue Dress, former Zionist Prime Minister, and current #2 most powerful politician in the Entity, Ehud (many trips to Epstein’s Pleasure Palace) Barak, and Casino (I am Yahweh) Trump, with a supporting cast of thousands praying at the Roman Wailing Wall, – Verb, where are you?

Collins introduced Sontag in order to place Riefenstahl in Historic context. Well done for a short introductory article. Sontag comes off (as we say) as a sad, incomplete, and quite immoral propagandist. When is Sontag’s first Movie coming out that displays sympathy for the Palestinian People – who are being Ethnically Cleansed by the Zionist Terrorists (as we speak)?

We Americans must fashion a Triumph of Our Will, by Restoring Our Republic, (that was destroyed in a blaze of gunfire, on November 22, 1963.

Okay, the profile of the nose doesn’t look good. I accept that much. Some women just live too long, or at least after a certain point, they should not be photographed. Or put on makeup. But she didn’t care. Funny, though, that her nose didn’t look that way when she was younger. What happens? I can say that my nose is the same as it’s always been. But I can’t say what might happen if I live to be 100.

Obviously, Riefenstahl was both a genius and an eccentric. But I wish we could know what her DNA revealed. I wouldn’t mind if everyone were required to have that test at birth and it be a part of their public record. No more pretending. Our data bank would expand and become more exact. Then we wouldn’t be going around accusing people based on photographs.

Actually the proverbial “Jewish nose” is in reality the typical nose of the Neanderthal, of whom scientists agree that he had a big fleshy nose. The Neanderthals lived from ca. 200,000 BC to ca. 35,000 BC in the Middle East and Europe. They were partly exterminated and partly absorbed by the later Cro-Magnons. Because the climate in the Middle East was milder than in Europe (especially during the Ice Ages), the Neanderthals survived in greater number in the Middle East than in Europe, hence the people of the Middle East carry a greater amount of Neanderthal genes than Europeans. Especially among Jews this is strongly present due to their strictly practiced endogamy.

Here is a picture of the reconstructed face of the Neanderthal :

Compare that with this picture of a well known modern Jew, Richard Falk, professor emeritus of International Law at Princeton University :

The resemblance is striking and not only with respect to the nose.

It is of course perfectly possible that Leni Riefenstahl inherited her Neanderthal genes directly from European Neanderthals, without intervention of Jewish admixture, but that is not the first possibility one would consider. Jews are known to “look more Jewish” when they become older. That would explain why Leni Riefenstahl, who after all would only have been partly Jewish, didn’t look Jewish at all when she was young, but the more so at the ripe age of 101 years.

Actually the proverbial “Jewish nose” is in reality the typical nose of the Neanderthal, of whom scientists agree that he had a big fleshy nose.

I think you are conflating a fleshy nose with a hooked, semitic nose — two different things, although they can both be present. It was the hook in Riefenstahl’s nose at the age of 100 that I didn’t expect. But here is a picture of young Leni in profile with only a hint of that downward tip.

So her nose became deformed in advanced old age. Here is a 93-year old German woman with a droopy tip to her nose – Probably didn’t look that way when she was younger.

I don’t agree that Richard Falk bears a “striking resemblance” to the Neanderthal man, any more than with your imagined resemblance between Reinhard Heydrich’s father and that Jewish scientist with black frizzy hair and mustache. It was very superficial. Riefenstahl’s nose at age 100 is in the same category. Her interest in Africans is pretty typically German, unfortunately.

  60. CNN uses the exact same tricks, presumably pioneered by Riefenstahl. 9/11 would have been nothing without ‘er.

I am stunned by the number of people who have so thoroughly internalized the propagandized commands of their ‘Jewish’ oppressors. Yes Leni was a Jew, as were Hitler and Goebbels plus any number of important figures commanding German self-immolation from 1933-45, on behalf of Judaised local and especially Anglo aristocrats, a process perfected by Germans no less than engineering but in this case still being practiced today with Talmudic Vengeance.

By coincidence I was looking at a list of German Generals just yesterday and wouldn’t you know it at least half of the names were Jewish or potentially Jewish, amongst them on Wiki I see Rommel, Kesselring, Eberstein, Frank, Dietrich, Keppler, Rosener, Schaub, Steiner, etc. and etc.

This should surprise no one when you consider the role of the Perfidious ones in cleansing Europe of most of it’s Jewery, i.e. the competition – from the Spanish Inquisition to Thermidorian Reaction (violent elimination of France’s greatest scientific minds), to the Nazis of course and then more recently to Soviet Jewery, all of whom were driven out of their homelands and into the arms of Mother England or it’s primary colonies. Those who remained in their native lands, living amongst local people with essentially identical DNA, would become convinced by the Holo-Hoax narrative of opposing Riefenstahl’s in Great Britain and the USA that their neighbours were anti-semites to the core and Zionism plus the elimination of the white ‘race’ was possibly the only answer to their plight.

How do you control the world via Jewery? See paragraph above. Once convinced of the malevolence of locals, which was rarely the case in places like Germany, Jews who remained behind became tailor made 5th columnists for City of London financiers and play that role prominently more than ever today now that token Goys are no longer required.

It is high set, goes out straight with often a raised bridge and slight indentation 2/3 of the way down, and ends in a soft tip that points just slightly downward. As shown here:
In those pictures of the 100 year old Reifenstahl, she had just been deformed by old age. Happens to everyone if they live long enough.

As for the 2nd picture, that is not a “jewish expression” but a 1920-30’s style cinema image of a gypsy-type seductress. The style was to exaggerate the emotion or sentiment being portrayed. Once again, a DNA test is the reliable way to find out. Where’s yours?
