From Civiqs comes a huge survey on support for or opposition to the “Black Lives Matter movement”. Net support (opposition) to BLM among whites by sex, age, and educational attainment:

The gender gap is striking. It’s even more pronounced among younger generations than it is among older ones. Drilling down to postgrad white women under the age of 35, net support for BLM is +60.

The gender gap exists for non-whites as well:

Violence is less abstract a concept for men than for it is for women, most of whom go through their adult lives entirely sheltered from it. Though the focus of BLM is ostensibly on police violence directed at blacks, white men are more likely to be killed by police than black women are.

If the intention is to highlight disparities in negative outcomes by demographic characteristics, “Male Lives Matter” is a more arresting phrase than “Black Lives Matter”. The disparity in deaths at the hands of police is far wider by sex than it is by race. Blacks are less than three times as likel y to be killed by police as whites. In contrast, men of all races are more than twenty times as likely to die at the hands of police as women are.

Of course, “Black Men’s Lives Matter” is most trenchant of all. But that includes within it “Men’s Lives Matter”, a phrase falling somewhere between “All Lives Matter” and “White Lives Matter” in its iniquity. All three phrases are beyond the pale, so the unobjectionable “Black Lives Matter” wins the day.

Being at a law school currently going through the usual “diversity and inclusion” brouhaha… I’ve been struck by the fact that it’s almost entirely driven by entitled young white women. It’s like listening to Veruca Salt sing “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”.

Granted, it’s a biased sample — there aren’t many racial minorities at most law schools, and very few black students at this particular one. But it’s still strikingly consistent.

From a purely careerist standpoint it makes perfect sense as a competitive strategy: knock off straight white men (boo! hiss!) and white women are what’s left. They don’t think of minorities as serious competition, just useful human shields that can be discarded later.

Still, there does seem to be something more deeply psychological about it. My guess is that for many it’s a displaced maternal instinct. Their burning their peak fertility years in law school and as menial junior associate drones. So they try to be the world’s Mom, and especially black people’s Mom. An hysterical, controlling, overprotective Mom.

Then again, this might be overthinking it: BLM’s trendy and adolescent girls are notoriously conformist.

  2. The sex differences in experience of and conception of violence surely cannot explain the outcomes here. Women’s propensity to conformity and enforcement must have a large impact. These things are mitigated somewhat by marriage and childbearing, and I suspect if you broke things down more, you would find married mothers a little less different from the men in their respective demographics.

  3. Malla says:
    @Chrisnonymous

A lot of married women pick up a lot of their husband’s ideology and want crime to be low to bring up family.
America & the west need to learn child marriage from rural India. The unmarried young woman demographic would not even exist to be brainwashed by Commie professors and cause trouble. LOL. Of course I am joking about the second part of this post.

Being at a law school currently

    Sheesh. Good luck, man.

But let us know know how it goes. I’m thinking specifically of (lawyer) Ann Coulter’s advice to young conservatives not to go to law school because the cost had become so high relative to benefit.

From a purely careerist standpoint it makes perfect sense as a competitive strategy

    Agree.

for many it’s a displaced maternal instinct. Their burning their peak fertility years in law school and as menial junior associate drones. So they try to be the world’s Mom

Agree. All of the female corporate lawyers I’ve known were either childless or had one child whom they sent off to boarding school as soon as practical/excusable. Even to me as a non-woman, this seemed a terribly high price for an upper-middle class lifestyle to be enjoyed only in the two weeks a year you weren’t slaving for the greater glory of your firm having a few dozen more billable hours or your corporation having a 0.021% higher net income. Even the lady small town lawyers I’ve known have tended toward low fertility/lesbianism.

Anyway, tl;dr: if you want to have much of a family life or genetic legacy, don’t marry a fellow lawyer. One successful Manhattan lawyer I know of, despite being highly desired on the marriage market, waited until his career twilight in his 60s to marry, and then to an imported young Filipina. That’s extreme, but you see the dilemma. No one tells you this in law school.

  9. Arclight says:

The fact that BLM is a thing at all is a testament to the unbelievably tolerant (and perhaps naive) attitudes many whites have towards blacks. Society shows an incredible amount of deference to the political and cultural desires towards its least successful cohort, and our elites fall over themselves to demonstrate how much they love them, which includes reconfiguring our educational and job markets to try and obscure just how far behind they are everyone else.

On the other hand, I fully expect that a generation from now blacks will have exhausted the incredible amount of social capital they currently have. Whites are far and away the group most sympathetic to blacks, and this is a shrinking demographic. The rise of Latinos and Asians means their putative ‘allies’ in the Democratic party will care far less about black political demands than the whites they replace, and the remaining whites, faced with the reality of our new demographics, will be far less willing to put their husbands and kids at a political and economic disadvantage.

The end result is blacks will still be wedged in between Asians and Latinos for 3rd most numerous group, solidly in 4th economically, and probably no higher than 3rd and possibly 4th in political importance as changing demographics produces a society more willing to ignore them.

My answer to BLACK LIVES MATTER mumbo jumbo is to say that it is boring but IT’S OKAY TO BE WHITE.

The BLACK LIVES MATTER crud is a propaganda shield that the ruling class uses to stop debate about monetary extremism and the concentration of wealth and power in the USA.

Upper Middle Class Whites and Plutocrats are using Black Lives Matter propaganda crud to hammer White Core Americans of modest means.

I wrote this in May of 2019 about beautiful White women:

Raven-haired or brunette beauties Barbara Palvin and Hilary Rhoda and Lynda Carter and even that saucy English tart named Polly Walker are a mile or so more beautiful than those two dozen or so Sub-Continent Indian broads.

European Christian women are the best looking women on the planet and that is why we must defend them and advance their interests, even when they are behaving politically in an atrocious manner by voting for anti-White Republicans or anti-White Democrats.

White Core American Women are wonderful, even the hypocrite White twats who live in mostly White areas and towns and parts of cities but say they love “multiculturalism” and “diversity.”

White Women With College Degrees are especially beautiful and sweet, even though many of them are nasty, hypocrite twats who vote for the Democrat Party to keep their government jobs and their money-grubbing scams and their abortion and their ability to use governmental power to attack and destroy White Women Without College Degrees.

Love, Love, Love — All White Core American Women Need Is Love.

Trumpy has not been bold enough in fighting for the love and votes of White Core American Women. Trumpy has stabbed White Core American Women in the back by pushing mass legal immigration and by refusing to deport the upwards of 30 million illegal alien invaders in the USA.

Trumpy and the Democrat Party have started a WAR ON WHITE WOMEN — WOWW!

The White Core American political party will fight for the best interests of White Women.

She’ll shoot your ass for forcing her to drag you to the squad car.

  15. Once again, opinion polls, even/especially when looking at whites specifically, seem to cast doubt on the “Based and Redpilled Zoomers” narrative. Generation Zyklon is coming to save us…by supporting BLM, feminism, gay marriage, mass immigration, etc. at the highest rates of any age group. This Pew report documents this in greater detail:

    https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2019/01/17/generation-z-looks-a-lot-like-millennials-on-key-social-and-political-issues/

Of course, as recent changes in support for BLM specifically and The Great Awokening generally demonstrate, political ideology is in Extremistan and can change very quickly. And it’s very difficult to correctly suss out period vs. cohort vs. age effects unless you’re paying close attention:

Before we look at historical changes in values, we have to keep in mind that the passage of time doesn’t simply flip the pages of the calendar. As time goes by, people get older, and eventually they die and are replaced by a new generation. Any secular (in the sense of historical or long-term) change in human behavior, then, can take place for three reasons.37 The trend can be a Period Effect: a change in the times, the zeitgeist, or the national mood that lifts or lowers all the boats. It can be an Age (or Life Cycle) Effect: people change as they grow from mewling infant to whining schoolboy to sighing lover to round-bellied justice, and so on. Since there are booms and busts in a nation’s birthrate, the population average will automatically change with the changing proportion of young, middle-aged, and old people, even if the prevailing values at each age are the same. Finally, the trend can be a Cohort (or Generational) Effect: people born at a certain time may be stamped with traits they carry through their lives, and the average for the population will reflect the changing mixture of cohorts as one generation exits the stage and another enters. It’s impossible to disentangle the effects of age, period, and cohort perfectly, because as one period transitions into the next, each cohort gets older. But by measuring a trait across a population in several periods, and separating the data from the different cohorts in each one, one can make reasonable inferences about the three kinds of change.

This leaves me free to say things that more prudent students wouldn’t say for fear of repercussions.

Plus, in most cases I’m literally old enough to be their father, and I already think of them as kids. So it’s a lot easier to recognize their spoiled-brat adolescent drama-queenery for what it is, and deal with it accordingly.

These kind of surveys may give more insight into the Overton window affect than anything else. I’m retired and not dependent on anyone else so I can say what I think and suffer no consequences. The gender difference probably reflects how negro males behave around white women and its a lot different than how they behave around white men. The negro male wants to have sex with white women so he conceals his coarse and brutal nature- at least initially. OTOH around white males they don’t bother to hide the fact that they are brutal savages. In fact they want to impress upon you that is exactly what they are.

  21. @Charles Pewitt

Sorry, but none of this propaganda is born out by the data:

White women are third place behind Asian and Hispanic women (and that study didn’t include mixed-race women, unless we count Hispanics).

White women just don’t look as good as Asian and Native American-admixed women. There’s lots of published science behind this but basically, white women’s faces are rather grotesque and they have really, really bad skin.

87% of black women supported BLM

56% of Hispanic women supported BLM

48% of Asian women supported BLM

Just 14% of white women supported BLM.

The “gender disparity” is due to the negative support of white males. The biggest disparity is between white women and all other races of women.

Trying to imagine this as a white woman’s dislike for white men is hilarious, and probably driven by cucks. Even more funny are the cucks like Unit742 suggesting that it has something to do with black men wanting white women. Earth to cucks, black men go for Asian women, not white:

This topic reminded me of some recent conversations I had with my daughter about what’s been happening in her friend’s circle. These are mostly young women, straight out of high school and generally everyone lives in a mostly-white affluent area with a good smattering of UMC POC. They all went to high school together and this has been their first year out and experiencing “the world”.

Apparently, one of them – let’s call her “Ellen” – just broke away from many of them because of this BLM business. Ellen is white, fairly privileged – being the daughter of a (divorced) single-mother (who is a lawyer) who basically pays for practically everything Ellen wants, lives in a huge house, etc. Anyway is very, very pro-BLM and considers you a racist if you aren’t as pro-BLM as she is. She put my daughter on the spot multiple times to get a religious confession of sorts on the matter to which any of my daughter’s nuanced responses were NOT accepted as orthodoxy. Where is the father? Somewhere else.

Anyway, the whole thing came to a head when another friend in the group, let’s call her “Talisa” decided to throw a party since she will be leaving the area at the end of summer. Talisa’s stepfather is a police officer and so Talisa (who is of a significant – though it seems mixed – Latino heritage) also has a nuanced view of the whole thing and doesn’t consider all cops as evil. But apparently that’s not good enough for Ellen. Ellen demanded that Talisa denounce her father as the enemy and pledge fealty to BLM. Talisa, understandably annoyed, proceeded to dis-invite Ellen (to the relief of some of the other friends, including my daughter) to a party that was basically being bankrolled by her evil cop-stepfather…I mean, why should Ellen break bread tainted by a cop’s salary with the unenlightened colored masses who simply don’t get it.

Anyway, Ellen has now proceeded to alienate many of her friends who are not fully 100% down for the cause.

    Peace.

Also (as a side note), I just found out this morning that Talisa has an elderly sugar-daddy that gives her spending money whenever she requests it. I found this out because my daughter was going to breakfast with her (since she is going to be moving away for college in Florida) and I offered to pay for the breakfast. She said; “no – we can split the meal.” So I asked if Talisa works and got the above answer. Pressing further, my daughter tells me that this sugar-daddy gives her money without any expectations in return which sounds really weird to me. Apparently he simply keeps up with Talisa’s Instagram account. Now, maybe that is true or maybe Talisa is lying through her teeth about what sugar-daddy is getting in return because she knows that my hijab-wearing daughter will try to talk her out of a profitable arrangement as a concerned friend.

Keep in mind, this is a girl recently out of high school and with a police officer as a stepfather. That is a bit scary, no?

And now she will be going to some campus in Florida as a young undergrad (who will always be in need for money on the side) and I’m fairly certain those places are sugar-daddy magnets and this young lady already knows how this works. Where is her biological father? Apparently he was abusive and was excluded from the picture a long time ago. I have no clue if he knows that his daughter is in a relationship with a sugar-daddy or if he cares.

  27. Mark G. says:
    @Chrisnonymous

These things are mitigated somewhat by marriage and childbearing, and I suspect if you broke things down more, you would find married mothers a little less different from the men in their respective demographics.

Men and women voted Republican close to the same rate up until the nineteen sixties. Since then there has been an increasing divergence in their voting patterns. In the last election, only 40% of women voted for the Republican presidential candidate. It was somewhat better if you limit it to just white females. Slightly over half of white females voted for Trump but that was lower than the two thirds of white males who voted for him.

There were several changes in the sixties that has caused the gap to slowly increase. A new form of feminism came along which switched from a concern for equal opportunities to a desire for equal results and a view of men as the enemy. Having a child out of wedlock became less socially unacceptable. This coincided with welfare laws being changed to make it easier to get welfare. The amounts available were also increased. The beginnings of affirmative action in schools and on the job also started to develop.

All these factors caused a slow decline in the number of marriages. More women received welfare or worked in government jobs created for them or got higher level private sector jobs through affirmative action. When men and women are married their interests closely align but not so much when they aren’t. The current female independence is at least partly an illusion. Fewer males may be married now but they are still partly supporting women through government income transfers and giving up higher paying jobs to women through affirmative action. A lot of the current situation is women pretending they don’t need men while still relying on them. Supporting BLM is part of the leftist package they vote for when they now vote Democrat so therefore they support BLM.

  30. Non-black men see BLM in terms of altering the status hierarchy to push black men upward and since status is zero sum that necessarily means they will be lowered = reduced access to women. That’s what it comes down to bottom line.

Race-focused internet white guys have long been commenting that establishment messaging inflates the desirability of black men, but most guys don’t see it that way, or they didn’t see it that way, until the hyperpromotion of BLM this year. Now it’s becoming clear that BLM means no matter what they do, any random black guy will just outrank them anyway. This is primal stuff, nobody would ever want that setup.

Meanwhile women evaluate all content based on the speaker. High status people are pushing BLM. So BLM is good, simple as. White women don’t uniquely hate white men. Women of all races want winners, and they will accept a winner outside their race if that’s who wins. Men fight and sort out a status hierarchy and women set their sights on whoever is at the top.

I see several black male/white female couples and the female is almost always unattractive. Part of it is like you say blacks will go for what’s available. Yet I also think part of it is black men have different beauty standards and are in general more attracted to obese women.

What surprises me is in my very heavily Hispanic city I never see Hispanic women with black men. White women like them more for some reason.

They predictably tower over their grandparents, many of whom were malnourished as kids.

    > I’m guessing the black guys lose out in this survey because of fear of crime?

More like availability. The black men who actually end up dating white women regularly and end up marrying one tend to be skilled professionals themselves. Even for one-night-stands, women are far more likely to go to bed with a man from their own social environment. A high status, attractive man, to be sure, but for an affluent white women, much more likely to be a wealthy businessman who works out a ton than an athlete. It’s not for nothing that white women with half-black babies and absent fathers tend to be obese and from trailer parks, to be crass.

  49. nebulafox says:

If you are a man, you have the option of putting off forming a family until you are in your 40s. It’s not optimal because you won’t be as physically able as the kids get older, the children are more at risk for turning out mentally “exotic”, and it is a risky gamble in dating market terms: the older you get, the more desirable you’ve got to be to get a woman in her fertile years. But not everybody has the option of having things optimally, obviously. And it is, in a weird way, fair: the requirements to find a desirable mate are a lot higher for men than women, as is getting off the ground materially and psychologically.

If you are a woman and you are childless by your late 30s, biology is going to force you to make some hard and fast decisions. I’ve heard of some women who hit 37, 38 or therabouts, realized their time was running out and the dating market odds weren’t in their favor, so they ran off to a sperm donor and had a kid a year later. Again: hardly optimal, but I didn’t hear any one of them who regretted that decision a few years later after the hell of babyhood. Better being a single mom than childless, it would seem. There are an increasing amount of people who genuinely don’t want kids, but they are still very much a minority: that’s a deeply embedded human desire that isn’t going away anytime soon.

The Dissident Right really needs to address the problem of its lack of appeal generally, and its inability to appeal to young people in particular. It sometimes seems as if the Dissident Right attitude is that if almost everybody disagrees with them that somehow means they must be right.

If you’re serious about politics you have to take the view that if almost everybody disagrees with you then either your message is crap or you’re doing a crap job selling that message.

Maybe there are a few things the Dissident Right needs to rethink. Maybe a good start would be its attitude towards women, which is not going to win it many supporters among Millennials and Zoomers. Maybe young women are inclined to be Woke and politically correct but if that’s so then the Dissident Right needs to find arguments that might cause women to reconsider Wokeness and PC.

Most participants tend to see themselves as a “youth movement” against the Boomer conservatives, despite any risible claim that Gen X or increasingly Gen Y should still be called youth.

Within the communities, there is a siege mentality and a belief in purity spiraling as a way of advancing and maintaining your position in the dominance hierarchy.

Two of the founding communities that contributed to the Dissident Right were the manosphere and gaming. Neither of which had many female participants other than those already sympathetic to the male position.

The main female complaint in these times is a decreased chance of family formation, partially due to economic factors, but also due to what they see as a male reluctance to perform “domestic and emotional labor”. Other than obesity, women don’t explicitly complain much about the physical state of men, or their lack of machismo (the bread and butter of the Dissident Right).

IIRC, the IFS study showed that the “Alt Right” positions were most strongly held by middle aged divorced white men. A group with perhaps the least social capital.

The Corona Curveball has given an update to my theory about the fifth wave of feminism, or “Neo Victorianism” as I appropriated it. While everyone has focused on the contrary surge of young women on the OnlySimps platform; what has been ignored or worse fought, is the primarily female demand for compulsory mask wearing and social distancing. The mask is a symbol of Neo-Victorianism that our people have stupidly rejected out of an attempt to prove how edgy they are.

Imo, until our people come to grips with Neo-Victorianism, and recognize that PC is not going away, will we find a way to move the needle.

One positive indicator has been the transference of Michelle Malkin from mainstream conservatism to the Dissident Right. Ideally she will dedicate her efforts to mentoring a cadre of Millennial women.

  65. @Chrisnonymous

BLM is a corporate backed movement that is currently trendy. Women voraciously follow trends and what’s popular, judging by their taste in movies and music. As advertising has placed special focus on women over the past century (majority of household spending is done by women) they are extremely adept at swaying women to follow or believe pretty much anything.

BLM is not just trendy and not just a status symbol but a cult-like movement. And women have always been more religious than men, so it figures that a cult that has sprung from the modern secular faith that so many Americans follow with the same degree of fervor as a devout evangelical would have lots of women. Status, popularity, and religious significance all drive white women’s zeal for BLM, though they’re of course naive to believe that the antiwhites would merely stop with white men. They still remember that white women voted for Trump and even the most devout Floydian female isn’t safe from the dreaded Karen label.

  66. Charlotte says:

Middle class-and-above white women seldom or never encounter violence in their adult lives, unless they have a violent partner. The media highlights cop-on-citizen violence almost exclusively. There is very little coverage of how much bad behavior cops are exposed to in their work, and why they might feel they need to forcibly subdue an arrestee. The conduct of the BLM martyrs is actively suppressed. Women are socialized, maybe naturally inclined, to view authority figures as people who stop fights, as distinct from people who win fights. The combination makes police violence very shocking and very disagreeable. I think that’s behind some of the BLM support among white women.

I think you have to look at it as Gen Z has embedded in it a strong counter force reaction internalised from a young age. If you broke out those male scores to have 18-25 as a separate category and plotted it, would it be even more anti-BLM than the totals for 18-35 even as the female cohort became more pro-BLM or would it have a very pro and very anti cohort?

Already in those numbers you see the jump for the males is much much smaller than the females. Gen Z girls aren’t where your backlash to any social media driven narrative will come from. They’re the most plugged into the matrix of social media.

Several of my fellow expat chateau owners have extensive segments of their VLOGS devoted to opening packages of gifts on top a remarkable list of Patreon donors. The most egregious example would be Casey Neistat, not a girl and certainly not what many would consider to be pretty, who sold his company to CNN for beaucoup bucks and was still being showered with packages of gifts he opened on camera despite living on camera an obviously rich and famous lifestyle, because people want to be a part of him and his life.

The Baste and Redbulled Zoomers meme is more about the fact that gen Z has shown to be more extreme partisans both left and right, meaning that though the contingent that is sympathetic to right-wing views is smaller overall, that portion that is actually willing to do something to affect the way society is going is larger. If you’re fighting a war, better 10,000 fighters than 1,000,000 cheerleaders.

And as others have said, most people will just follow the Zeitgeist and aren’t committed to fighting for what they say they believe in (and that is itself very malleable based on the current environment). Blackpilling at the strength of your enemies is both useless and inaccurate, if revolutions against the current ruling class always involved defeating the sum total of their theoretical power, then revolutions would just never be successful.

The ABA collects data on this, and I wasted a lot of happy hours running those numbers last spring when my school’s DIE brouhaha got rolling.

Going by USNWR rankings for 2019, the top 45 schools average:
    White 70%
    Black 6%
    Hispanic 10%
    Asian 9%

As you’d expect, there’s a pretty strong correlation at the top between ranking and Asian percentage (rr=.22), with the white percentage rising as the Asian one declines.

What’s interesting is that there’s an almost identical correlation (rr=.23) between ranking and black percentage. So higher-ranked schools are more Asian and more black.

Harvard Law (#3), for example, is 60% white, 10% black, and 15% Asian. So less white, more black, and more Asian than average, by more than one standard deviation in each case.

Once you get below about #45, however, the black correlation disappears. This produces a discontinuity in the distribution: black students above the threshold get shifted to the top.

My inference was that black students still have to meet some threshold level of competence before a top-ranked school will scoop them up through Affirmative Action. But lower-ranked schools don’t need to do that because enough black students can already meet their lower standards. Since my school’s at the bottom of that top tier (#45), we end up without a chair when the music stops, which explains why we have an unusually low black percentage (2%).

So when our DIE crowd was saying we needed more black students, I asked where we were going to find them, since higher-ranked schools were monopolizing the limited pool of qualified black applicants. Seemed like a reasonable, practical question, but you would not believe how angry people got. The gist, I think, was that “qualified” is a racist term, because racist white people racistly decided what constituted being “qualified”… or something. I admit I sort of tuned them out at that point.

The extent to which the Victorians were sexually repressed has been much exaggerated. They held contradictory attitudes about sex, just as we do. There was actually a lot of diversity in Victorian views on sex. I’m talking about Victorian England.

It was probably different in the 19th century US, where the Puritan tradition was much much stronger. American Puritanism gave birth to American feminism, and American feminism in the 19th century was rabidly anti-sex and anti-pleasure and miserably life-hating. That particular strain in American feminism has never entirely gone away.
