Republican Senator Mitt Romney’s favorability, by partisan affiliation, follows. “Not sure” responses, constituting 19% of the total, are excluded:

So brave! Surely the newfound respect Romney has earned will pay big dividends down the road:

It is very sad, but they would not make that joke at the end today. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney edited it out from their demand service.

Not sure about that. Obama was much worse his second term, we would have missed that and the metastasizing social justice nonsense during those last four years.

Afiak, the gamergate movement had little to do with Obama, but the administration was a proximate cause of the increased feminism (Yes Means Yes, campus tribunals) which resulted in a dramatic backlash in the “manosphere”.

A Romney administration, when not itching for war/billionaire tax cuts, would have been harangued for its “War on Women”, and an ecumenical revival of 2000s-era evangelical bashing.

Possibly, there would have been a Abbott/Turnbull style coup where Ryan might have attempted to replace Mitt on the 2016 ticket.

Why you hating on that negro? He liberated your precious Ukraine from tyranny, it even had a gay parade after the SJW revolution.

  6. LondonBob says:

    Trump endorsed him didn’t he?

Trump really has a just terrible track record in appointments and endorsements, just no focus at all.

  7. AE, this is one of the funniest things you’ve brought us yet.

  8. Well it really was quite the entertaining spectacle to observe the Mittster imitating human emotion. He’s gotten more convincing at it as the years roll by. I was kind of wondering if his lizard tongue might dart out involuntarily if he accidentally said something that was true, but what the hey.

Romney is not just some guy who happens to go to a LDS church on Sunday. He’s a consecrated Bishop at the highest level of an organization that has a long history of interference in civil matters. He does not have the option to disobey a order of the supreme leader, who gets his orders in daily talks with god, and that alone would disqualify him from holding public office in an actual republic.

Romney is a member of Mormondom’s highest hereditary aristocracy, descended from Parley P. Pratt, an original member of Joseph Smith’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles. Interestingly, Pratt was murdered in Arkansas by the enraged husband of the last of his twelve wives, who had failed to obtain a legal divorce before being sealed in a “celestial marriage.”

At his endowment ceremony Bishop Romney covenanted to accept the “Laws of Obedience and Sacrifice,” including tithing and life itself, if necessary. He was made to vow to “consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.”

There’s a good article online about Romney’s place in the inner circle of the Mormons and about Mormon history at https://www.smashwords.com/books/download/218370/1/latest/0/0/mitt-romney-and-the-mormon-church-questions.pdf

  9. songbird says:

So why is Romney a never-Trumper? Is it personal ego, or is it his social milieu? Maybe, a little of both?

  10. I’ve long suspected that the high end of all of the religious denominations, including LDS*, have been compromised by the same techniques used to compromise other leaders. Particularly in the case of the LDS, there is a history of relationship with organized crime starting in Nevada where the casinos are a major employer of LDS members for the same reason they are employed by national security:

The rank-and-file are incorruptible and the leadership is rightfully fearful of them if exposed.

The list of LDS politicians who have been utter disasters for the country is batting close to 1000%

That social justice nonsense was going to come out anyway, it’s best that it came out under Obama.

  12. J1234 says:

Ben Sasse has just been out-Ben Sassed.

BTW, you should see Ben Sasse’s current gung-ho right wing campaign fliers. Very pro-life. He really should admit, however, there’s at least one good thing about abortion: it provides a great distraction from immigration.

  13. Mikey D. says:
    @songbird

    Ego probably.

Trump ritually humiliated him on the national stage, repeatedly. Romney came crawling back for a secretary of state job and Trump revealed for the entire nation that Romney has no principles OR spine.

  14. @songbird

“they would not make that joke at the end today”

Yes, it’s a bit too truthful. NAWALT, of course 😉

    @Observator

I was watching that great documentary on Jim Jones the other day, except it fails to mention his homosexuality, it is funny how all these cults seem to have at their core the requirement that the cult leader gets sexual access to all his followers.

  16. “That social justice nonsense was going to come out anyway, it’s best that it came out under Obama.”

So the justice system contrary to the claims of the president and host of others is fair and just. It’s taken a while for conservatives and others to get the message, but apparently, according to them — it’s not fair, I think the evidence is in their favor.

  17. Goof grief,

Gov. Romney thinks the current executive lacks any moral foundation such that he is simply not of character to be the president.

Unfortunately for Gov. Romney, he has taken support from the same and has yet to fully explain why that is the case.

It comes across on its face as duplicitous.
