As previously noted, both men and women who self-identify as bisexual tend to have significantly more opposite sex partners than they have partners of the same sex as their own. For men and women who self-identify as “gay, lesbian, or homosexual”, same sex partners are overwhelmingly more common and substantially more common, respectively:

  1. As far as I know (I’m no expert), no-one knows exactly how male homosexuality has appeared. But female homosexuality is relatively simple to explain: it’s a by-product of polygyny.

  3. Dumbo says:

Female lesbianism is more easily explainable than male homosexuality. And it make sense that even some lesbians would have had experience with men (in fact, some start as heterosexual and end up lesbians after a bad experience with men – at least, two “lesbians” I know, were in a long-term heterosexual relationship with a guy and ended up leaving him for a woman.

But, the truth is that lesbians in real life have little to do with lesbians in movies, and usually they look at least a bit masculine, or just unattractive (if you’re attractive and feminine, you have no problems getting male’s attention all the time). So it’s probably a hormonal/genetic thing, too.

A lot of actors in Hollywood seem to be gay and lesbian (and this is not even recent, already from Greta Garbo’s time), so that’s another thing one should look into. Lots of these Hollywood marriages are and were either just for publicity purposes or to hide the real sexual attraction.

Also, I think, some lesbians may be more open to sex with males, while most male homosexuals tend to simply dislike women sexually.

  4. Inherent female bisexuality rears its unmistakable head again. Truly, all women are bisexual.

  5. SIMP simp says:

Strange. There was an older study which found that the average woman who had sex with other women had more male partners than the average fully heterosexual woman. I think being lesbian is often a phase so using self identification is not very useful as it only captures the current state. Lifelong history is a more useful metric.

What does this represent? What does ‘adulthood’ mean? Other studies have shown that some homosexual men have upwards of a thousand different sexual encounters (i.e., with different men) during their (probably shortened) lifetimes, and frequent numbers cited range from 50 to 500. So whatever the context, 10 just doesn’t seem right.

  9. Some L and G notoriously have problems with T. How do they feel about B, though?

People get angry if you inform them that you don’t experience jealousy, or at least not in a way that is significant

At best, they’ll look at you condescendingly as if you’re lying or faking it. Occasionally that will progress into genuine curiosity

If you engage in a relationship with them, they might even pretend that they don’t feel jealous either, but weird resentments will creep in, especially if they have decided that you are just too hurt to realise your own jealousy or whatever and they think they will save you. Many people will believe this no matter how clear you are with them, even if you tell them what they are secretly thinking

Ultimately both you and they will realise that over time, because jealousy is a big thing for them, they will never be able to feel secure in a relationship with someone who isn’t also jealous.

My point above really is about jealousy, but the comparison seems parallel to bisexuality. I was in a relationship for a year with a girl who had explored that part of herself a lot. She had jealousy but she recognised the same dynamic developing between us on jealousy as had developed for her with her sexuality and others in the past.

She remains a friend, but she could not feel secure in a relationship with me, no matter how nice things were. It isn’t the chance of me cheating, she could easily have dealt with that, even chatted about it, but just the lack of parallel feeling.

  10. @El Dato

    A rainbow?

    But then they overwrought it

Like the huge, new apartment my friend was so proud of, now it is over-filled with all sorts of random clutter

  11. These body count numbers are way too low lol

  12. Some L and G notoriously have problems with T. How do they feel about B, though?

Although I am now quite withdrawn from the social and political gay world, I was heavily involved for years. My anecdotal take.

L and G often have very friendly social ties but as groups they are always in tension. For lesbian feminists, gay men are still men and just as “problematic.” Lesbians are far fewer in number than gay men but have outsized power. After all, we had to put the L first just because of that…

Adding the B was, if I recall, scoffed at by the men but supported by the women. Since so many lesbians I knew had a much more fluid erotic interest, no surprise. It was a non-event.

L G and B are all about sexual orientation, the focus of your sexual desire. And despite the effeminacy of some gay men and the mannishness of some gay women, it was males who were males who liked males and females who were females who liked females.

It was the adding of the T that turned the whole construct into a dog’s breakfast. I, a man who found the male form, head to toe, a thing of jawdropping wonder, was supposed to be part of a “community” with males who wanted to castrate themselves and have breast implants? I’d rather go to hell.

Now the only sexual link in this bizarre camp of ever-expanding letters is hostility, yes, hostility, to the idea either of binary gender or heterosexuality. It stinks and I want nothing to do with it.

    LGBTQWTF: a sexual Yugoslavia.

As for the Borg-like leftist political posing and alliance, the clinging to victim status when they have won every battle, and the hostility toward masculinity outside the gym….don’t, as they say, get me started.

Bisexual = an homosexual man who is married to a woman for convenience purposes or other reasons but who has homosexual flings on the side. (i.e. Oscar Wilde, Cole Porter). Not so common today.

Gay = a homosexual who has no problems with assuming being homosexual and doesn’t need to pretend he likes sex with women. Much more common today.

Is that correct? (for women, it’s another story).

A certain proportion of Hollywood actors and actresses have always been homosexual because a lot of the power brokers in Hollywood were homosexual and they give parts according to how the auditions on the casting couch went. Another reason is that homosexuals have always been tolerated or even accepted in the acting and related professions (makeup, hairdressing, wardrobe) as opposed to general society.

  17. On ‘sometime’ gays – there was that remarkable Bush 2 presidency story, of a minor blogger mysteriously given White House press credentials, James Dale Guckert (b. 1957), aka ‘Jeff Gannon’, also aka ‘hotmilitarystud’ … who was there for late night ‘visits’ to the Oval Office precincts – see ‘Gay Prostitute Inside Bush’s Inner Media Circle’ – Guckert there one evening with Tony Blair as well … this memorialised in a hilarious music vid by the Electric Six, in which you see George Bush and Tony Blair appear to discuss going to the ‘Gay Bar’ with lip-movements clipped in synch to match the song

    Here’s Guckert-Gannon as G W Bush apparently knew him

  18. Thomm says:

A poll like this blurs the lines, because among White Tr*shionalists, many are gay by nature, but some became gay over time, mainly due to their own fanaticism and the near-100% male nature of the movement, due to the bottom-tier nature of the males that are drawn to the movement.*

At the moment, about 40% of WN w*gg*rs are gay. But that percentage can be expected to rise. This 40% continually pressures the other 60% to become gay.

Most of the strident WNs over here have openly said :
    i) They would rather have sex with a white man than a black woman, since race loyalty trumps sexual orientation, and producing no baby is better than producing a mulatto baby.
ii) They have little to no trouble with transgenderism, since the race of the transgender person did not change.

This is why, of course, White Tr*shionalism is extremely unappealing to heterosexuals.

*The missing females who are the counterpart to these bottom-tier men are the fat bluehaired feminists. That is why these two movements are nearly identical in numbers and personality traits, but why WN groups have no women aside from the occasional elderly fag hag like Alden or Rosie.

  19. This again may be a function of the uncertainty of youth. My best friend in college turned out the be gay, but he slept with three women during the first two years of college. I guess he wasn’t sure, or was reluctant to just be what he was. I know that his mother was very anti-gay, so that might have had something to do with it.

Again, AE, what are the age breakdowns? I predict that most of this will show up at the young end of the surveys, like a lot of things.

Thanks, I was about to make the same point.

So according to this, the median gay guy probably hasn’t had more than a handful of incidents of stranger sex. Most of the stranger sex takes place on the right half of the curve — that’s where the hundreds of partners happen. It does seem correct to me that there’s a significant slice of the gay population that isn’t aggressively seeking out stranger sex, even if the portion that has never engaged in it is very small.

Also whenever partner counts come up, in addition to the potential for lying, it’s worth pointing out that you’re not seeing a lifetime completed number, and especially if the survey skews young this can lead to a lot of distortion.

  24. Wency says:
    @Dumbo

My honest take is that a lot of men who are “exclusively gay” probably do have some attraction to women, but it’s easier to be gay. Both because men are quicker to have sex and because it’s easier to have access to them and develop friendships with them.

One way to model your first category is someone who would have also been prepared to cheat on his wife with women, but it was easier to seek out discreet affairs with men. If Oscar Wilde (or others like him) had lived in a society where keeping multiple female concubines was normal but opportunities for male-on-male sex were more difficult to find and punished more severely, would he perhaps have fathered an above-average number of children, instead of merely 2?

This is a lot easier to explain in evolutionary terms than pure homosexuality — perhaps many cases of bisexuality are merely an unconstrained libido combined with high openness to experience, and in some societies this may result in increased fertility, and in some societies less, but it’s enough for the strategy to survive.

I don’t think it is hormonal at all for lesbians.

It is genetic in the sense that women born with butch features are more likely to drop out of hetero dating and go dyke.

On TEEVEE there are a lot of lipstick lesbians but in real life they are rare and most are probably rape victims.

The gay guy I know would sleep with a woman it if was offered but doesn’t go looking for them. He could probably go straight with the right woman but would always be pretty gay if that makes sense. It would be like one of those religious couples where the husband seems gay but the wife is fine with it. He is definitely wired differently and has more of a female brain than my wife.

The lesbians I have met however just seemed like bitter women that were rarely hit on in high school and don’t want to be a the bottom of the hetero dating pool. They hate men more than they like women. I honestly don’t begrudge them as I don’t doubt the men available to them are much of a catch. There are so many feminized and lazy men that I’m surprised we don’t see more women go dyke.

One way to model your first category is someone who would have also been prepared to cheat on his wife with women, but it was easier to seek out discreet affairs with men.

The adult theater phenomenon is similar. Men go for anonymous sex and will take whatever is available which is usually men looking for the same. The theaters will sometimes have an upper section for couples and occasionally a couple will allow one or two lucky men from the lower section to come up for a turn with the wife.

I had no idea this all existed until the previously mentioned gay told me about it.

Anyways the men in the lower section are more prison gay if anything. Liberals tell us that homosexuality is always genetic but there are clearly cases where it is chosen out of limited options or to be discreet. Bill DeBlasio’s wife was actually once a lesbian activist that talked about being born gay. I guess a tall White man with political connections changed her genetics.

    True.

That’s why you should never refer to a woman as “Ms”- it’s a surrender to feminism.

What I really dislike is the practice of referring to actresses as actors. If they’re female they’re actresses.

These things seem petty but they’re not. The SJW victory in the culture war was assured when they won the battle over language.

An random anecdote from a (horrifyingly not-that-niche) corner of the sexual yugoslavia: a fanfiction website which allows you to filter fics by category (F/M, M/M, F/F, etc.). Since the last couple years an obnoxious number of fics in this category feature pairings in which one of the ‘men’ is in fact a woman. And these aren’t just increasingly numerous, but some of the highest-rated fics as well. You can scroll down a page of 20 ‘M/M’ fics and have a quarter to a third or more of them feature female trannies. As someone who filters by M/M specifically so I get dick rather than tits and vagina, this is more than a little aggravating. We can’t even enjoy our degenerate porn anymore.

Another point to consider is “Born-This-Way-ism.” A lot of older lesbians really hate the idea that sexual orientation is fixed at birth, and see their homosexuality not only as a choice on their part, but as a revolutionary act. You may remember the slogan “Any Woman Can Be a Lesbian.” People with that attitude are the arch-enemies of the trans crowd, but they tend to be pretty friendly to bisexuals, more so than to gay men.

  34. Altai says:

It seems like a lot of Lesbians, female Bisexuals and ROGD girls are just neurotic women who had traumatising first or early sexual experiences. (Some of them don’t even seem to have had these and are second hand traumatised by society and parents telling them all men are potential rapists and murderers of women) Their subsequent outsized fear of men and masculinity informs a lot about their politics and purported sexual or gender identities.
