I unironically support #ShutDownSTEM, technological dominance is a dangerous thing in the hands of woke millenarian regimes, at this point it’d sooner be safer even with explicit theocracies like Iran.

  2. “Science” has been political for the past 30 years. It appears that “Nature” is now political as well. In reality “Nature” starting becoming political about 20 years ago.

I’m starting to agree with Vox Day, that at this stage of the game, the only way to tell if any given scientific research is real or not is if it leads to demonstrable engineering. Science that does not lead to technological innovation may or may not be real. But it is so politicized that there is no longer any way for people like us to make any such distinction.

  3. Lowe says:

The Left is pulling out all the stops to hurt Trump. First the lockdown in the economically critical Blue states, now this unbelievable propaganda effort from every Leftist institution… which is all the institutions, surprise! Every corporation and every university, even state governments in supposedly Red states.

It’s not just the far Left. It is the establishment too. They are all playing their strongest card right now: racism. It’s the strongest card because most American whites even on the right are fully cucked on this issue. They cave immediately when it comes to this issue.

  4. @Lowe

If by ‘Trump’, you mean White people then yes

  5. AaronB says:

Finally something I can get behind…vive la revolution!

Joking, but there is something about this – the soulless technocracy is a big part of what is making everyone so unhappy these days, though few can articulate this.

What is evident is that the Romantic revolt is coming to fruition 300 years later – perhaps its final act. Most white people are plainly alienated from the established culture of technology and money making – that too was a surprise for me. I always knew there was hope for white people.

That isn’t to say this revolt is not retarded and ridiculous in so many ways, and the black worship is absurd, and the defund the police thing isn’t dangerous. But if all is just surface noise and what’s really going on is alienation from the emptiness of technology and money making, then maybe the silly package it’s coming in can be tolerated for the time being.

I’m in Brooklyn now and interactions with blacks are actually extremely nice and pleasant – I deal with them every day, and it’s almost as if normal blacks are going out of their way to show they are normal nice people. But there does seem to be a slight uptick in the feral element, judging by loud rap music on the streets and aggressive driving, but its hard to tell for sure. We shall see if crime goes up here. So far so good.

Interesting times we live in. I’m cautiously optimistic about this recrudescence of “unreason” – a necessary phase in all civilizations. Its too early to tell, but compared to the French or Bolshevik revolutions we’re doing amazing.

The old established paradigm had to be broken one way or another. They tried in the 60s using Asian culture but the medicine wasn’t strong enough. Asian paths of liberation from effort and serious concern were reinterpreted as about striving and their message of freedom neutralized and harnesses to capitalism and technology.

So they are trying stronger, more primitive medicine. Will it work?

I never understood the obsession with blacks, either the extreme antipathy or the extreme idolatry. When I moved from Israel to Brooklyn, I had a lot of violent encounters with blacks and I did hate them. But when I grew up I did not see them as competitors and began to understand their difficult situation much better and my hate melted away into a certain level of sympathy, although I remained realistic about venturing into black neighborhoods.

At the same time, I thought there were much better avatars for the Romantic “noble savage” position that was being foisted on blacks. Black style primitivism seemed not to be a state of innocence but a corrupted reaction to the ruthlessness of modern American culture. It was repellent – perhaps understandably – but not noble or innocently natural at all.

But I understand now that blacks have a highly charged symbolic value for whites – they are seen as the absolute antithesis of Western culture. As the absolute opposite pole to the modern European. That is why they are so polarizing and so obsessed about by all whites without exception. That is why low class whites are absolutely obsessed with hating blacks, and leftist whites are obsessed with idolizing blacks – both positions way in excess of the objective significance of blacks.

Blacks have been assigned the role of anti-European – and your attitude to them will be shaped by your attitude to modern European culture. The whole thing is highly symbolic and peculiar to Western culture.

Among the movers and shakers, most of this is grim-faced careerism dressed up as compassion. This should be obvious to anyone who knows humans.

But I do agree with the spirit of what you are saying. Where we differ, perhaps, is that I think of unreason as something like a loose cannon: it can inspire novel insights and great art, yes, but it can equally lead to genocide or mass suicide.

Particles for Justice: Wednesday, June 10: A Strike For Black Lives

It should go without saying that Black lives matter. Yet we find ourselves again mourning and raging [?!] over state and vigilante violence against Black people. The recent murders of Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Regis Korchinski-Paquet, George Floyd, and Ahmaud Arbery are just a few examples of the violence and racism that Black people live with every day — and have for centuries — in the US, Canada, and around the world. We acknowledge the ways in which the effects of anti-Black racism are compounded for people who are also, for example [!?], women, trans, non-binary, queer, Indigenous to the lands occupied by the United States and Canada, Latinx, Muslim, Jewish, disabled, and/or undocumented. We demand justice, reform, and accountability now.

You will need representation theory to understand this particular intersectional symmetry group.

    Strike Details.

What does it mean to take action to further the cause of ending global anti-Blackness?

Instead of incomprehensible academic jargon by ass-clenching pedants, you get incomprehensible maoist struggle session jargon by red-book clenching bluehairs. It must have been phoned in.

arXiv staff to participate in the #strike4blacklives

The arXiv staff is deeply saddened and angered by the recent killings of George Floyd, Regis Korchinski-Paquet, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others. We recognize that Black people live with the injustices of systemic racism every day — and have for centuries — in North America and around the world.

    In 2300:

“Come on, Chang, I have finally obtained holiday time from the Beijing Ministry of Historical Progress for the “Jupiter Space is Ours” festivites week. We are are going to Africa!”

“Africa! [Brings up a hologram] It’s so large. Do people live there?”

“No-one lives there. It’s a big Natural Park full of beautiful animals! That’s why we want to visit it.”

    “Was it ever thus?”

    “Ummm … yes.”

I’ve been in Brooklyn for the past six and a half weeks, so a bit past the height of the shutdown (which I spent in a suburb in NJ which was a very pleasant experience with families walking and playing in the streets while observing social distancing).

I’m mainly staying in the Bushwick part, which is trendy and getting expensive, but still edgy and close to black areas. So I haven’t been on the subways or been anywhere else in NYC, and not to the best areas. But over here its not even close to apocalyptic and actually quite pleasant. 90%+ of people wear masks on the street and even bicycling or jogging – probably 99% of the white people, and there are a ton of white people in this area. I myself only wear masks in stores and supermarkets, not being insane (the streets are not jam packed).

On the weekends there are tons of trendy people waking, jogging, bicycling and it looks fairly ordinary.

Ever since the Floyd riots, I’ve noticed mask wearing has dropped to about 50% lol 🙂 Perhaps to be expected.

Coffee shops and bars don’t let you in, but they put up counters and you can buy drinks and mill about outside, staying in your group and social distancing. Some streets with multiple bars and cafes have been closed to traffic and have quite a festive atmosphere.

This Monday NYC officially opened up in phase 1, so tons of people are coming back to work. We’ll see how it goes.

Both started relatively calmly. The French Revolution with a little assault on the Bastille, and the Bolshevik revolution with accession to power by the Mensheviks who decided to continue with the Great War look good little Entente gimps. But a few months later, things went places. Same for the Weimar Republic, really.

You never know whether you will be witnessing 155mm ordinance slamming into crowds until you witness it.

I am angry that many black people are assigned this role, despite not wanting it.

They have to contend with condescending white liberals and controlling black gatekeepers. They may also be subject to traditional anti-black racism.

This must be particularly grievous as European culture has a lot to be admired in it.

Choosing between hating Thucydides, pretending that he was black, or being alienated and enjoying his writing as it was, is a harder choice than most appreciate.

    @Not Only Wrathful

I completely agree. Some blacks do embrace this role and exploit to their advantage but it must be annoying for ordinary blacks.

Jews are also assigned a mythical and symbolic value in the Western imagination whether they want it or not.

Russians also have a mythical symbolic value in the psyche of the West it seems.

Which other group? I don’t think the Chinese have a mythic status yet, although they may acquire one.

The whole question of this sudden irruption from the psychic depths of mythical symbolic thinking in the West is very interesting to me. Man lives by myths, and the rationalist project clearly has failed to suppress them. They just keep on erupting from the deep despite our best efforts to keep the lid on. Jung would have a field day.

My impression is that low class whites are obsessed with rap music and black sportsball stars instead of hating blacks.

  20. @AaronB

I never understood the obsession with blacks, either the extreme antipathy or the extreme idolatry.

That seems to be more of an American thing. In the UK and Europe it’s Muslims, in particular Pakistanis and Arabs, who are either despised or worshiped and who native Europeans are obsessively preoccupied about. Europeans are largely indifferent to non-Muslim blacks.

  21. Science is supposedly secular and rationalist, but human nature being what it is, even scientists need some of that new-time religion(in absence of old-time ones), and the current religion is Noble Negro.

Earth may revolve around the Sun than vice versa, but the universe revolves around the Negro(as puppet idol of Jews).

  22. Pericles says:
    @El Dato

Science actually does not explicitly take the woke position but just reports on it:

For example, UNH physicist Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, an organizer of the Strike For Black Lives who is black, says that because she frequently speaks out about racism in science, many students from underrepresented backgrounds—and sometimes even their parents—contact her for advice about race-related conflicts in their education. Black students have told her of assailants throwing objects at them on campus [never happened], or people threatening to call the police on them when they are leaving the lab [possible, e.g., if they were robbing the vending machine]. Providing such advice “is a lot of work,” she says. “I also believe it has to be done, and I also believe it is unfair that it has to be done.” [such emotional labor!] (Prescod-Weinstein has spent so much time supporting students of color, she says, that she asked for that work to be explicitly put in her job description when she was hired as a tenure-track professor at her university.)

  23. @AaronB

it’s almost as if normal blacks are going out of their way to show they are normal nice people

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. Even the Somalians are smiling and being pleasant.

It’s not just blacks either. A large number of an assortment of non-white varieties think this is all nonsense. I’ve never gotten along so well with Indians or Chinese.

I guess the GoodWhite lunacy is so strong it is binding all the races together. They are ending racism after all!

  24. AaronB says:
    @reiner Tor

Yes, El Dato above says the same thing, and I’m responding to you both – already the violence levels seem to be dying down and rioters used to be cut down with bullets not too long ago.

I agree that it is too early to tell, but there doesn’t seem to be the same level of polarization here – the majority seem to be behind this attack on the establishment paradigm, with disagreements perhaps on the extent of the action that needs to be taken. Its more like an internal shake up than a true revolution – the opposition simply isn’t there, it’s a small minority that isn’t motivated.

When the inherited paradigm eventually collapses the initial replacement will probably be completely asinine and silly, but from that, something better might grow organically.

The inherited paradigm had grown sclerotic – no one was enjoying it anymore. What were we doing already? Endless money? Endless growth? Endless tech refinement?

  25. @LoutishAngloQuebecker

However, the shrewd side of me knows not to believe it.

The blacks / Somalians are smart enough to know that whites are actually getting pissed off by the bullshit. And if whites get pissed off enough, the gibs stop (or they might even get deported!)

For the supposedly high IQ of whites, we have a shockingly low behavioral IQ.

  26. @Europe Europa

    You are incorrect.

The extreme negrolatry is shown by the recent ‘protests’, which have shocked me by even penetrating into provincial towns far outside of London.

For the antipathy, look at house prices in places in London with large concentrations of blacks. Or the race riots when black immigration started

Notice also that the organisation was called the White Defence League and the slogan was ‘Keep Britain White’, contrary to frequently repeated comments about whiteness being an alien imposition on English people.

The latest BLM rioting in Britain seems to be an American import though, not something originating in this country. I’m not saying there’s zero animosity or idolatry towards black in the UK, but it comes in waves more (like all the Windrush hysteria a couple of years ago) and is no where near as constant as anti-Muslim vs pro-Muslim sentiment.

People like Tommy Robinson and other British nationalists focus almost exclusively on the crimes of Pakistani/Muslim immigrants, non-Muslims blacks feature very little in their rhetoric. Overall the British right seems much more focused on Pakistanis/Muslims than it is on blacks. Also black vs white animosity seems to be more asymmetrical than muslim vs white animosity, blacks hate whites far more than vice versa whereas with Muslims the feeling is often mutual.

People like Tommy Robinson and other British nationalists focus almost exclusively on the crimes of Pakistani/Muslim immigrants, non-Muslims blacks feature very little in their rhetoric

I think that is mostly because they are much easier to attack from a liberal standpoint and without appearing racist. US Conservatives also talk much more about Muslims than blacks, despite Muslims being a relatively tiny issue. Also the rape of English girls by Pakistanis massively eclipses anything done by blacks.

I understand what you mean if you are just talking about the discourse around blacks and Muslims, but I think that is similar to the American situation.

In fact, overall it is incredible how much our racial discourse has converged with America’s over the last decade until its current apotheosis.

It actually reminds me of my homeland. Here we have had a longstanding and novel tradition of solidly middle-class Greeks supporting anarchists and other radicals smashing and burning up the centre of Athens. At least, verbally they support chaos which runs contradictory to the normal arc of life where one becomes more conservative as they reach middle age; particularly, with children. I point out to them at dinner parties that they are undermining everything they have built and they pay higher insurance premiums but inevitably they call me reactionary and I have another gulp of my wine.

I used to think it was a uniquely Greek tradition due to certain events like the Civil War (1946-1949) and the Junta (1967-1974) but middle class people are becoming more radical across the West.
