Why would the US want to “defend Taiwan”? What does “defending Taiwan” even mean? Who are we defending from what – and why?

We’re trying to save the people of an island in China from communism by giving them democracy. This is our business because we are the people who decide what is right and wrong and we decided Chinese communism is wrong. So we will start a nuclear standoff with a superpower country because we really just are that moral. We are so moral that we don’t even care if everyone dies, just as long as they know how moral we are.

These people are telling you, without evidence, that they are the eternal arbiters of some kind of static, permanent moral architecture of the universe that they are still in the process of inventing.

These people say: “we are always right about everything,” and if you then ask them if they were wrong 5 years ago when they weren’t dressing little boys up like girls, injecting them with hormones, and cutting their dicks off, they will tell you “we were never wrong – we just continue to get more right.”

Just try to listen to these people. When they are telling you about how there is a fixed moral order that they alone define and which is also constantly changing – “democracy” – they will say “we just keep getting more right everyday.”

Now, you’re dressing prepubescent boys up as girls and having them do sex dances for adult homosexual men. So if you just keep getting more correct in your morality, where will you be in five years? Where in ten?

  • The concept of declaring yourself arbiters of an eternal and universal global morality is totally insane. (Not even religions do that. At least not to the extent that they say they have a right to just go around bullying everyone on earth into accepting their beliefs. Well, I guess Islamic terrorists do do that. But no one else does.)
  • If there was an actual universal global morality, it couldn’t constantly be changing.
  • This is all totally fake gibberish that no one takes seriously other than some small group of people who think the world is actually Marvel Comics movies. The other people supporting it either don’t understand what is actually going on, and think that China and Russia are planning to attack America, or they are vicious homosexuals and Jews.

I will say – starting a fight with China is a sort of funny way to get the fact that you lost a war with Russia out of the media. That is funny. I think someone has to be laughing about that one.

“The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards your chopping your son’s dick off” is not a real belief system.

These people are lying to you on purpose in the most absurd possible ways – just really ridiculous stuff like trannies – and using these lies to get you to do things.

Nancy the fag-hag has landed.

The old bat is going to meet with the terrorist leader of the “Taiwan independence movement,” who claims without evidence that Taiwan is somehow a separate country than China.

The Pelosi landing is similar to the US forces landing at the Beaches of Normandy to try to kill Adolf Hitler for no reason. Many are making this same comparison, I have noticed.

I’m a bit surprised Beijing didn’t send a team to intercept Pelosi’s flight. But I don’t know why I’m surprised. They have millions of different ways to punish the US for this ridiculous “Secret Invasion” fag-hag stunt.

I’m not really surprised that Nancy didn’t announce the Taiwan visit and then went anyway. Or at least, I shouldn’t be surprised. This is a joke government. It’s like Roger Rabbit, watching these people interact in the real world.

10:24 AM

Nancy Pelosi continues to threaten to invade China for no reason.

This secret surprise invasion is absurd. It is very obvious, as the Chinese say, that the US is purposefully trying to provoke an incident.

And secret surprise visit for no reason can’t even pretend to not be a provocation. This is not normal diplomacy. They keep saying “well, Newt Gingrich went 25 years ago to Taiwan!” and it’s like, okay, well, firstly, that was 25 years ago. Secondly, he didn’t loom over the entirety of Asia and refuse to say where he was going like it was some kind of kiddie game.

This is a totally strange action.

China does not appear to be joking around.

At time of writing, the plane is on path to Taiwan, after having driven all the way around the Philippines to… build tension?

She literally took this path to build tension.

We say “she.” Obviously, this isn’t her idea. The media is making like it is her idea, and the Bidens are saying they’re against it.

It’s all so very goofy.

    nor will they.

Pelosi could of saved the time and carbon footprint and just called the Chinese ambassador into her office and slapped them in the face.

Make no bones about it…forget about all the rhetoric from those around her she has effectively slapped the Chinese in the face…and caused them to lose face in Asia.

That was the goal of this mafia Don.

The Chinese should of shot the plane down.

I don’t know who is more fake and gay,

“Fake and gay” is probably the best definition of the modern world, from the COVID hysteria to the current fake war hysteria, first with Ukraine/Russia and now with China.

Is the U.S. really trying to provoke a war with both Russia and China? Or is this play-acting on both parts?

Since Russia and China were also involved in the COVID scam, then there’s at least some reason to believe that, despite some disagreements, they may be involved in this new WW3 theatre too. In this scenario, both Putin and the Xi Ping would be playing along the West to create a nuclear war hysteria (perhaps they will fake some nuclear attack) and terrorize the public, in order to push some new global policy or other throughout the whole world.

Then there’s the fake death of “Al-Qaeda’s leader” (LOL, Al-Qaeda doesn’t exist and this guy had died of natural causes years ago anyway, it was even reported by CNN)

China lost, and lost big. From now I consider the Chinese military a paper tiger.

  8. The Chinese are long term planers. They will reply, probably economically.

They should put sanctions on Walmart – stop all shipments.
They should put a stop on all exports to any Amazon sellers including Chinese.
They should stop all manufacturing and exports of Apple products. Ya think the stock market will notice?
They should start dumping US treasuries. Will the bond market notice?
They should reveal their gold holdings in an ostentatious display, brick by brick, and tie their currency to gold in some fashion. Will the currency markets notice?
They probably know which of their components are used by the US military and cut them off.

They should start to do the same for Europe to squeeze them naming the US’s actions and their support for the US as the cause of their increased misery.

Volcanoes build pressure slowly. By winter, the Europeans will revolt with regime change everywhere. As the European banks start to fail, their counterparty risk for the US finance sector will start to sink the Dollar with a spike in inflation the Fed can’t handle.

  9. I thought the Chinese army will do some kung-fu upon the Americans. I was wrong, the Chinese army only practices tai-chi.

  10. This is completely insane. The US is prepared to defend a country it doesn’t recognise, Taiwan, against a country it does recognise, PR China. And the same goes for Germany and any other US allies that have issued similar statements.

Biden’s got covid again, Manchin is gonna cave on Build Back Better 2.0, and the economy is diving face first into the gutter, so maybe they just wanted some “Headline Relief”, since everything is going so terribly.

There are times when economic warfare is the best form of warfare. This isn’t one of them.

China lost, and lost big. From now I consider the Chinese military a paper tiger.

Chances are, China will redraw the middle line (90km from Taiwan) between Taiwan and China to 20km from the Taiwan shores. That was the original agreement to keep the status quo but now that agreement seems potentially to be nulled.

China will start to curtail exports from Taiwan. 45% of Taiwan exports are to China. Taiwan relies 70% of its GDP on exports of its goods. A complete stop of Taiwan exports will reduce Taiwan’s GDP by a third. That reduction will devastate the Taiwan economy. With a third of its economy gone, Taiwan needs to borrow money to purchase more weapons to protect itself and at the same time, China with start dumping its 14nm and soon to be 7nm semiconductors on the open market severely hurting Taiwan’s semiconductor business. Semiconductor businesses need high amount of investment with a very small profit margin. A 5% drop in demand may have irreversible negative impact. There is a reason why US companies a reluctant to get into the semiconductor foundry business.

China is the largest producer of wheat and rice in the world. A close second producer of corn in the world. It supplies 60% of the world’s steel. Most of the exports of machinery, steel and food to Taiwan from China will be stopped. I am not even sure where Taiwan is going to find steel in other markets. Of the 1.8 billion tonnes of steel produced in the world, China produced 1.2 billion tons. Other steel producers already maxed out their capacity. And Russian steel is a no go because of sanctions.

In two years, 2024, crazy woman president Tsai will be voted out of office. She can then thank her fellow crazy Nancy for that. Taiwan can say goodbye to the annual 100 billion dollar trade surplus it enjoyed for a decade.

  15. Notsofast says:

the best response the chinese could make would be renegotiate all of africas as well as central and south american dollar denominated debt. then pay that debt off with their trillions in t bills (on which they’re making 2-3% interest) and give these countries more favorable rates but still make twice the money they were making on their t bills. this would be a major gut punch to the fed and ruin their planned looting of these countries economies as well as free them from imf, wto and u.s. economic slavery. xi’s probably on the phone with putin right now, asking for his revenge borscht recipe (best served cold).

‘Only Nixon could go to China’ (Spock quote in Star Trek film)
‘Only Pelosi could go to Taiwan’ LOL

Tho Russia & China are ‘allies’, there’s a big difference

As a commenter on 4chan /pol/ just wrote … you can live with the Russians, make deals, get things calm, have a European-type life with them … but you really, really do not want to live under Beijing China gov, putting your whole life under smartphone social credit control

Also the Ukraine Donbass situation is completely reverse from Taiwan. Donbass is self-determination, they are Russians who do not want to be abused, denied rights, and artillery-shilled by Kiev, they WANT to be in Russia.

Taiwanese want the same thing, self-determinaton, which means they DON’T WANT Beijing dystopia. ‘Sovereignty’ is bullshite when a region says NO, we want to be OUT … this is UN-Charter-tier self-determination, usually ignored of course.

In response to Pelosi, Chinese are doing ‘military exercises’ outside of most of Taiwan’s ports, teasing a blockade. But a little further out to sea, is an armada from 11 nations, US, Japan, UK, Australia etc.

Beijing has been bullying Philippines and Vietnam as well, making Japan feel insecure too. This might be one of those conflicts that will eventually need to be fought anyway. So may as well have the fight now, before the whole Pacific gets steamrolled by Han conquerors. This is not old anti-commie ‘domino theory’ and abusing native nationalists like the US did in Vietnam … this is confronting real aggression. The US and the West and Nato are old classic war criminals of course … but that doesn’t mean the Beijing Chinese are right about Taiwan.

even if all that happens as you predict, it’s a small price to pay for independence from china. china (and pro-chinese commenters) makes the mistake of discounting the power of nationalism. after watching what china did to hong kong, the taiwanese have become strongly opposed to reunification. no nation wants to be bullied, and chinese belligerence towards its asian neighbors (especially australia) over the past few years has shown them to be real bullies. taiwan is showing itself to be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to remain free from it’s oppressive neighbor across the strait, and the US has a strong interest in helping taiwan remain free.

I wouldn´t call the old hag sneaking in a strategic defeat –
she only wants to deflect from her insider trading; but USrael has removed
the last reasonable doubt they will do with Taiwan what they did with the Ukraine,
to the last point on the i. They have also sealed the China-Russia-Iran alliance.
USrael is desperate for a world war (mostly to default on their debt – in violation of
the Constitution – but also to destroy surplus capital and invigorate manufacturing).
It is all depressingly similar to the run-up to the last world war, but this time
the gamble is a lot more desperate and USrael cannot expect to stay high and dry
(Our last hope would be a revolution in Germany but the outlook is dim).

What would Sun Tzu do? If they desperately want war, do not give it to them …
just yet. Let them rot a little further; but prepare for a surprise attack
(Rest assured both Russians and Chinese have gamed precisely this many
    times over).

Actually, that pretty much describes Christianity as well. “Compel them to come in” (Augustine), Inquisition, book burning, Galileo, 30 Years War (first Jewish war on Germany), Puritans, English Civil War, Shining City on a Hill, exterminate the Native Americans, abolitionism, Prohibition, War on Terror, etc.

The Woke Left is just Christianity minus the sky god nonsense; hence it appeals to the more intelligent, who continue the bullying, and more successfully. As AA implies, the supposed moral issue changes, but the bullying is the same.

  26. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Revelation 13:18 states that if one is wise and has an understanding to count the number of the beast, which is also the number of a man, the number comes to 666.

The Normandy landings was codenamed “Operation Neptune”* and is often referred to as “D-Day.” It was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began at 6 am on June 6 , 1944. In other words, “D-Day” began on the sixth day of the sixth month at precisely 6 am (666).

Nancy Pelosi lands in Taiwan three days before Tisha B’Av 2022 which will begin in the evening of Saturday, August 6. Tisha B’Av is literally translated as the 9th day of the 11th month (9/11). The Zionists started WWI on Tisha B’Av in 1914. It looks like they are doing their damn best to start WWIII on Tisha B’Av 2022.

*Zionists love all things astral and playing number games with gematria. Three months before the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York on September 11, 2001 (9/11 for the goys) there was a simulation of a terrorist attack from missiles (airplanes). The operation was named after the sixth astrological sign in the Zodiac:”Operation Amalgam Virgo”… if that isn’t bizarre enough, there was a photo of Osama Bin Laden front and center of the “operation.”

chinese belligerence towards its asian neighbors (especially australia) over the past few years has shown them to be real bullies.

Those who survived, or know about, the antics of the Japanese Nazis in China and the rest of Asian might find your opinion a bit overwrought.

“World War II” was largely Russia and China being invaded, slaughtered, and ultimately overcoming the White and Yellow Nazis. (Il Duce only managed to invade Ethiopia).

The parallel to today, as Sherlock Holmes might say, is exact!

  28. Taiwan is a fake country with fake leaders just like Ukraine. Nonetheless, it’s much better run than Zelensky’s shithole and I feel a bit sorry for them as China is much more authoritarian than Russia. (But not as bad as our neoliberal anal allies such as Germany.) I also feel sorry for us when all those chip fabs come under Chicom control. This unofficial independence could go on for decades more but Pelosi and her fellow retards in the US government are pushing them to war. Stupid dumb morons.

  29. @bombthe3gorgesdam

Wrong. More than half of Taiwanese are against Pelosi’s trip. 80% wants to maintain the status quo. I was in Hong Kong in 2019 and saw the riots with my own eyes. Not what you read on MSM.

Just a digression but the meme of chopping boys’ dicks off while perhaps true for some cases when it comes to minors presenting for sex change most are females wanting to present as male. Naturally all such candidates are first psychologically assessed and a couple of studies of this data which managed to receive ethical approval showed this was true AND that most of these girls were also assessed to have Asperger’s Syndrome. Probably the main theory of what causes Aspergers, not without criticism, is the Extreme Male Brain theory whereby the brains of male Aspies are at the extreme end of the female/male overlap and female Aspies have brains resembling the neurotypical male brains. Such girls are seeking to bring their reproductive organs into alignment with their brains insofar as that can be achieved. Check out Ellen (now Elliott) Page in Inception. She plays her character like she is one of the lads. Most female Aspies don’t feel the need though eg.Greta Thunberg. Margaret Thatcher was the Iron Lady and in her day the diagnosis nor surgery did not exist however she did take elocution lessons so as to develop a more masculine speaking voice. There have only been a couple of such studies permitted one reason being lobby support groups for both features (Aspergers and Trans) don’t like the connection being made as each lobbies for each as absolutely otherwise typical except for their particular situation.

sure, the taiwanese would prefer to maintain their extremely lucrative economic ties to china, but the question is whether they are willing to sacrifice their national sovereignty to maintain those economic ties. and the answer is no. the reunificationist movement in taiwan, which used to be very strong, has completely died now that china has torn up “one country; two systems” in hong kong. the taiwanese now understand full well what reunification means, and they absolutely don’t want it. another question is whether they have the strength to resist a chinese invasion, and the answer to that question is still unclear, but they will definitely need US help if they are to have any hope of maintaining their independence.

How about the bully getting a punch to the face from a near equal to show they are not as bad as they thought? Na nothing. Military drills, some boycott on fruit, mass tantrum on Weibo. I’m not calling for WW3 or a military reaction how about something to poke back at America like announcing they are accepting North Korea as a nuclear state or highlight all the asian-americans being tormented by blacks on state media 24/7 or ban the NBA out of China?

Nah nothing. Because these cultural revolution boomers don’t even understand how propaganda wars are fought in the meme age. 43. 36 ulster says:

I actually believe that Taiwan can defend itself, though I wonder if, given the passive-aggressive antics of the Biden Cabal, Taipei may decide that discretion is the better part of valor. The PLA-etc. high command may have perused Sun Tzu, but if they take the message of “know yourself and your enemy” to heart, they may be aware of their limitations as warriors. An amphibious, cross-channel invasion would be an immensely complex undertaking, involving precisely scheduled movements of thousands of warships and support craft in order to land a few divisions of troops. I doubt whether the Chinese have the organizational genius of a Bertram Ramsey (and staff) to conduct such an operation. The Taiwanese would be defending an island, and, unlike the Germans, loosely situated in Normandy (though not for long) they would be deployed in force. It could be very bloody–many times more costly than the Dieppe disaster or D-Day. Also, the Chinese performance in a land battle against the depleted Vietnamese forces some forty years ago was found to be wanting. China, per Sun Tzu, may be looking for alternatives, either a “charm offensive” to gradually rebuild reunification support (given events in HK, most unlikely) or a continuation of the “bluster offensive” of harsh rhetoric and military maneuvers to urge Taipei to be “Finlandized.” More of the latter approach seems to be likely.

Why should PR China even bother with an invasion? It could provoke some confrontational incident and then enforce a naval blockade and start bombing military targets on Taiwan with missiles for as long as it takes until Taiwan gives up and capitulates. America and its allies would not be able to supply Taiwan with weapons and ammunition the way they do Ukraine as there are no land borders with pro-US countries. They would have to break the naval blockade which would bring them into open conflict with PR China, a nuclear superpower, but are they really prepared to do that? Sure they would want to fight PR China to the last Taiwanese but they may have problems supplying military hardware to an island that could be easily cut off from the rest of the world.

PR China could try an invasion, the way Russians tried to take Kiev, to see if the Taiwanese may not offer much of a resistance and welcome them but if it fails they can just stand back and keep on bombing indefinitely as long as it takes to break the Taiwanese. PR China will never run out of missiles just like Russia will never run out of missiles.

This is a useful article for understanding the economic stakes (1)

China Is Not Russia; Taiwan Is Not Ukraine

Taiwan is far more important than Ukraine technologically in the region and the world as an IT center, especially as a major chip producer. In fact, the U.S. recently called on Taiwan to contribute more to resolve a global shortage of semiconductors.

Deep economic interdependence brings a vulnerability to China’s economic growth in times of crisis. China is now the largest trading country in the world, based on imports and exports combined. This is largely because China trades with the U.S. and its key allies. The U.S. and its allies account for eight of China’s top ten trading partners. In a scenario where China uses force to achieve reunification with Taiwan, harsh sanctions would be imposed on China by the U.S. and American allies. It would be too costly for the Chinese economy if that happens. China would undergo a serious economic downturn, which would have profound social and political implications domestically.

There was never a chance that Xi would start WW III over an aged Senator who will soon be stepping down.

And again, Xi owns Not-The-President Biden. Why would Xi want to create a problem with his direct control over White House policy?

Remember, China’s red line is Pelosi IN Taiwan.
As long as Nancy was not yet in Taiwan, she hasn’t crossed that line.
But now that she HAS actually landed, the red line has been officially crossed.

The USA has made its move.

    It’s China’s turn.

    And it won’t be predictable

Some netizens were expecting Pelosi’s plane to be shot down.

Why would the PLA do that?

That would only make Pelosi a martyr.

Worst, the U.S. could argue that she technically never “set foot” on Taiwan, and what China did was unprovoked aggression.

    The CPC is not foolish.

As long as Nancy was not yet in Taiwan, she hasn’t crossed that line.

But now that she HAS actually landed, the red line has been officially crossed.

The USA has made its move.

    It’s China’s turn.

By the way, it doesn’t matter if Pelosi’s plane left Taiwan tomorrow; Nancy is not some kind of prize to be held hostage.

The symbolic act of crossing the red line has already occurred.

So China now has the justification required to do whatever is best for China.

    Wait and see !!!!

In the meantime, my mostly brainwashed Americans, if you want get some real understanding of so called CENSORSHIP in CHN:

Fearless journalists exposed the 2002 AIDS epidemic in Henan province, the 2003 Sun Zhigang case of a migrant worker illegally detained and beaten to death in Guangzhou, the 2008 milk-poisoning scandal, widespread environmental protests, and food safety crises among other contentious issues.

In most cases, their stories raised a wide public outcry, as manifested in active discussions online. In some cases, they also produced a moderate policy shift … recently demonstrated in the courageous investigative reporting of Tianjin’s major chemical explosion.

    Investigative journalism is flourishing.

On Cui Yongyuan’s talk show, Tell It Like It Is, (twenty-million Weibo followers), ne vehemently opposed the Government’s plan to introduce genetically modified food, made heated, personal attacks on GM food supporters, and helped defeat the legislation.

Next he charged China’s highest-paid actress, Fan Bingbing, with cheating on her taxes (triggering a tax audit that cost the entertainment industry two-billion dollars in taxes and fines) while publicly accusing Shanghai police of taking huge bribes while investigating the Fan Bingbing case and of ignoring death threats to himself and his daughter.
He then publicly ridiculed them when they claimed they had been unable to reach him. After an investigation, Beijing charged Shanghai’s police chief, Gong Daoan, with corruption.

Cui’s next obscenity-laden Weibo post accused the President of the Supreme Court of malfeasance, and demanded to know why critical case files were missing.
A leaked video tape showed a Supreme Court judge hinting that CCTV cameras had been sabotaged when the documents were stolen from his office and an image of the case file’s cover page showed a judge’s directive to keep the case secret.
After a Court denial, President Xi personally intervened on Cui’s side.

“In China today there are too many damn people afraid of getting into trouble and too few with the guts to speak the truth,” says Cui.

  107. China will punish us again.

Just like they punished us in 2020.

    Without any invasion or explosions.

Without any payback from the US.

The Chinese have been shrinking their holdings of U.S. Treasuries since January. They’re not selling them off. Their entire holding is short-term notes. I think the average length-to-maturity of their entire portfolio is less than twenty-four months. They’re simply not buying replacement Treasuries when their current holdings expire, and are redeeming the notes for cash instead of rolling them over. The draw down has been around forty billion per month against their trillion dollar holding last December.

Ukraine’s army (UAF) was one of the largest in the world and the third largest in Europe at the start of the war, after the U.K. and France’s armies. It was the best equipped in Europe, with eight years of preparation for conflict with Russia. UAF soldiers trained constantly at U.S. live-fire, combined-fire, and target ranges in Germany over that period of time. The UAF officer corp spent much of that time on U.S. soil, attending the War College and other training programs. And the entire military has been directed by the “best of the best” of western military advisers.

Russia has fought a land war in Europe with minimal civilian casualties and without leveling infrastructure along the U.S. “shock and awe” strategy, which involves destroying waste water treatment plants, electricity plans, and anything else essential for civilian needs. Ukraine might not have an air force, but the west of the country is littered with anti-aircraft weapon systems capable of taking down Russian aircraft (as the Donbas is against NATO aircraft).

  120. @RoatanBill

While your list of possible Chinese retaliatory actions are valid and some of them might materialize, I think that we have to zoom out and keep track of the larger picture.

The Nixon administration killed two birds with one stone when it took the side of China in her military conflict with the Soviet Union; on the one hand the U.S. put a wedge between the two leading communist powers at the time and on the other hand the American support of the weaker Chinese opened up the way for reestablishing diplomatic and economic relations between China and the U.S. that gave the U.S. a few decades of relative stability and prosperity by discarding a united communist front.

Today, the U.S. is relatively weaker than she was fifty years ago and her military interventions in third world backwater countries like Iraq and Afghanistan proved to be a failure. So by what logic can anyone justify the American antagonization of both Russia and China at the same time? Are Pelosi and the deep state running the brain dead White House so strategically deficient? The obvious answer to the question is a negative. The simple logic is that the Democratic Party is totally in line with the globalists in their aim to finish off whatever sovereignty the U.S. is left with by pitting her into a war against China and Russia that is impossible to win. Once the U.S. is on her knees, the globalists will move on into declaring the United Nations as the sole arbiter of the New World Order and will proceed with establishing a new monetary system based on Central Bank Digital Currency and a new social engineering plan that puts into effect the globalists’ Agenda 2030.

The unipolar order will simply change hands from the U.S. to the U.N. Will the Chinese and the Russians play along or will they use the void left by the U.S. downfall to create an alternative order to that of the putative globalist one? The coming two years might clear the matter.

But considering Pelosi’s rowdiness and recklessness, the Chinese will not take the provocation lying down. The UN, NATO, World Bank, BIS, etc won’t survive what’s coming. Russia and China are forming replacements for all that US controlled hegemonic infrastructure with their own.

I expect Russia and China to walk away from the UN, etc eventually as the existing institutions are poisoned and can’t be rehabilitated. It’s the people and cliques that have run those institutions for decades that aren’t going to give up the control those systems represent and therefore from Russia’s and China’s perspective, those organizations have to be demolished or at least side stepped.

The world is in the process of bifurcation. There will be the 1 Billion “west” and the 7 Billion rest that will go their separate ways, at least for a time till the “west” becomes irrelevant when they realize that financialization without industrialization doesn’t work. EU countries will leave the “west” first followed by Japan, leaving the US, Australia and that shit little island system off the coast of Europe to represent The New World Order, democracy, globohome, etc. Israel probably won’t survive at all except possibly as a layer of radioactive glass.

That makes 127 years of Taiwan not being under the control of mainland China.

One might as well argue that Canada and Australia remain part of Great Britain, though both countries have ended all but the most symbolic aspects of colonial government.

Economic freedom in Taiwan far exceeds that of centrally-planned China, as does political freedom (actually voting for Taiwan’s leaders, as opposed to watching communist insiders select leaders in Beijing).

I think if it comes to military moves, the scenario you describe would be “best” for PRC: they wouldn’t want to kill too many civilians, which a land invasion would necessarily entail.

However, I think PRC will not resort to military, unless Taiwan keeps upping the provocations (….goaded by US). For example, Taiwan may announce that they are seeking nukes from US, or something.

I was listening to Col Macgregor, and they were discussing Taiwan, and he said Taiwan electorate is about 45%/55% plus-minus: with about 45% (KMT party) wanting to join PRC. Current regime is totally corrupted by the West. According to the Col they are pro-Japanese: imagine that.

Many came on brief buying trips a few times a year, while some others established offices and set up residence in Taipei.

‘Taiwan was then emerging as a major export center, and Jewish buyers of garments, shoes, and other products were constantly visiting the island. A minyan – consisting of a combination of visitors and residents – was assured for virtually every service, and the hotel kitchen was taught how to bake challah and other Jewish delicacies.’

The reason I say this is because the topic of Ron’s “unusual tolerance” has come up before. The explanation given is not that he is a tolerant site owner, but rather, the decisions about who gets the push and who stays are not actually up to him.

The clincher is that, whenever the “Ron’s a manager, not the owner” topic has arisen before, Ron has never refuted it. And while it is possible he has simply chosen to ignore it, it is not like him to allow anything that is factually incorrect to remain uncorrected.

(NB: None of this is to say that I do not respect Ron Unz. As a rule, his replies are courteous to those who deserve courtesy and only somewhat less courteous to people who are plainly trying it on and being complete bores about it. I cannot ask more of a site manager than that.)

Prima facie we can expect the money that the T-bill pays China to be worth a little more than half of what China paid to the T-bill. Should have held BTC.

If China zeros out its T-bill stock, the GAE is that much closer to having to make its own stuff instead of stealing other peoples’.

Of course if China starts holding BTC it will crash the Yuan, because they also have a printing press addiction. It’s just that they don’t have Bretton Woods so all the theft is strictly domestic, rather than international.

I believe there will be consequences, as there’s so much China can do. Besides, think about it. What does Pelosi’s visit actually change? Nothing. Pure propaganda symbolism.

We’ve had Trade War, Covid Pandemic War, and now we have this what I call Chicken War. It’s a game of “Chicken” with China – hoping to at least make fools of them, since we can’t do shit to their economy or security. [“They”] are trying everything, hoping something sticks.

Many of the so-called Taiwanese are in reality the descendants of Nationalist Chinese who invaded the island under the leadership of Chiang Kai-Shek and totally brutalized the local Han and also indigenous (tribal) population (interesting discussion of hte depredations of Chiant and the Nationalists if Sterling Seagrave, Lords of the Rim). Note that virtually all Chinese identify with their region of origin. Hence it is to be expected that many Taiwanese Chinese actually identify with Fujian.

“The majority of [Taiwanese] Han Chinese descend from immigrants who arrived to the island prior to Japanese rule (1895–1945) and can be classified as the Hoklo and Hakka, on the basis of language and customs.[33] As the majority of early immigrants were Hokkien speakers from Fujian[34] who arrived starting in the 17th century, the Hoklos account for about 70% of the total population today. During Qing rule, a large number of Hoklo men took indigenous brides.[35] Some of the plains aboriginals also adopted Chinese customs and language so as to be indistinguishable from the Han.[36] Thus, many who categorize themselves as Han have some degree of indigenous ancestry.

A significant minority of Han Chinese are Hakka, and they constitute about 15% of the total population. The Hakkas emigrated chiefly from eastern Guangdong, speak Hakka Chinese, and originally took up residence in the hills of the indigenous border districts.[37][35]

Waishengren form another significant mixed ethnic group in Taiwan. The term refers to migrants who moved from China to Taiwan between 1945, when the ROC took control of Taiwan from the Japanese empire, and 1949 during the relocation of the ROC from mainland China to Taiwan. Estimates vary regarding how many waishengren migrated, with most estimates ranging between 950,000 and 2 million,[38] with 1.2 million being the most commonly cited figure in Taiwan,[39] which would have constituted less than 15% of the population at the time (who constitute approximately 10% of the population in 2004[3]).[5]”

As for “independence from China,” Taiwan is part of China and always has been.
Talking about losing face! China will never let western powers humiliate her again by bossing her around on her own territory (as occurred from the advent of the British East Company and the Opium Wars onward into the 20th C.).

Most Taiwanese want reunification on their terms. Meaning that they don’t want to be under the rule of the CPP but at the same time they do not want to be disconnected from their motherland. From my view, reunification will happen sooner of later. Definitely later, when the CCP runs out of its usefulness. The CCP knows that. It knows its shelf life is expiring and the best it can do is to set a positive foundation for the Chinese civilization and history will be kind to its brief rule.

If you dislike the Communist Chinese so much and wants to patronize the Han Chinese because you perceive them as inferiors and needing the guidance of a superior being such as yourself, wait till the CCP get kicked out. Had a few so be kind and let me bend your ear a little bit about the guitar.
First of all it wasn’t my guitar to begin with but I got into a tennis match (and don’t know diddly about tennis) and he bet me his guitar against whatever I was offering (I forget) and after that the guitar was not forthcoming. So one day when nobody was home at his house I went down there and took it.
Fooled around with it for a while, maybe learned a couple of tunes on it but not much and eventually it accompanied to mexico where I got in a fairly bloody fight which I lost and had to flee to a Mexican restaurant for refuge where I met a guy called Enrique who helped me out for awhile. Called a taxi to take me to the hospital but instead of doing that the taxi to me to the bar where the problem had started, went in and got my attacker and brought him out finish the fight. So I stepped out eager to engage and the other guy ran so I got back in the taxi thinking, ‘This is over.’
Cept the taxi driver; instead of taking me to the hospital, chased the attacker down. All good and well, except the attacker ran for awhile and then stopped and picked up another couple of big rocks and stood at bay. I didn’t have any rocks in my hands so I had to retreat.
Eventually the taxi driver to me a sorta Hospital/clinic and I got stitched up by some very professional Mexican girls. After that was over I asked, ‘Quanto es?’ which is Spanish for ‘What is the price?’
And they smiled and shook their heads and said in Spanish, ‘No charge senor. This is free.’ Might remark here that basic medical services in Mexico are free. Do not go down there and take advantage. (Especially if you just got shot in Detroit or somewhere and think you can save a few grand by flying to Mexico – you might not survive the journey)
So, what happened to the guitar? Turns out that I went back to Enrique’s cafe to thank him and he learned that I had a guitar and he was a guitar player without a guitar and I should have given it to him right there but I didn’t.
The guitar traveled across the Atlantic and eventually to London with me where I used it score the affections of one girl I guess.
But if I had it to do again I would’ve given it to Enrique because he needed it more than I did. Good lookin guy and everything but he didn’t have the money to buy a guitar so I should have just given it to him.

PS: Russia armed Croatia 1991–1995 helping to defeat the Servs.

Catholic converts keep repeating this lie, that Russia was supplying them with weapons. It was actually Ukrainian arms dealer(s) that supplied Catholic Nazi Croats separatists with weapons from Ukraine [1], which of course, had a large stockpile of Soviet/Russian weapons. Gorbachev, Yeltsin, and Putin did many treacherous actions and crimes against the Serbs, but miraculously, they skipped that one. Now you know. You are welcome.

[1] Ukraine: Cashing in on Illegal Arms | PBS:

Excerpt: A Ukrainian parliamentary inquiry concluded that between 1992 and 1998, Ukraine lost \$32 billion in military assets, in part through theft, discount arms sales and lack of oversight. (In comparison, Ukraine’s spending on legal arms for defense in 1999 is estimated to have been \$500 million.) Many of the missing weapons found their way into the hands of willing buyers in hot spots around the globe, from Sierra Leone to Croatia. And as these arms proliferated, so did evidence of international criminal networks that sold arms from Ukraine in flagrant violation of international sanctions and embargoes.

Their kingdom is older than that of the Servian kingdom.

Catholic converts and their historical fiction – just like all other converts around the Serbs. Here’s one great short essay for your education regarding Croatian “long history”, Croatian “kingdoms”, and Croatian “kings” [1].

[1] Croatian kings, trolls, karakonjules and other mythical creatures | Mislav Horvat:

Excerpt #1: One, who particularly liked Serbian history, was called Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski. Later, together with a few Roman Catholic priests, he will invent a series of Croatian kings, unearth many false findings… all of which we had the opportunity to see in the sci-fi series “Croatian Kings”.

Excerpt #2: As proof of the existence of the Croatian king Zvonimir, the so-called The “Bašćanska ploča” which the ideologues of Croatia called the “foundational monument of Croatian literacy” and dated it to the 11th century. On that plaque, a priest mentions King Zvonimir. The plaque was “found” by Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski. However, the latest analyzes have shown that the plate is a forgery.

Excerpt #3: An even crazier story in Croatian mythological historiography is the one about the “personal union” with Hungary. As the westernmost Serbian lands were very poor, the Serbian rulers had no excessive interest in defending them. Thus, the Hungarians conquered the area from Zagreb to Zadar in the 12th century and held it until Hungary fell under Turkish rule. Croats call that period “Croatian-Hungarian Kingdom” and “personal union”. They say that they only had the same ruler as the Hungarians, but their own country. It’s like the Serbs saying that they were in the Serbian-Ottoman Empire, a personal union, and that they only shared a sultan with the Turks. For this purpose, the so-called ” Pacta Conventa ” which is an alleged document from the 12th century. However, Pacta Conventa is written in the language of the 15th century, it contains a number of errors, e.g. Koloman is mentioned as the son of Ladislav, and he was his nephew. There is no mention of the Pacta Conventa in Hungarian sources , nor did anyone mention it before the 17th century. Faced with these arguments, Croatian historians admit that the Pacta Conventa is a forgery, but say that there may have been some verbal agreement with the non-existent Croatian nobility. Maybe, and maybe there was a verbal agreement with the trolls.

Why is it that this Allah shouldn’t, or wouldn’t, answer prayers of all, including some pagan or animist tribalists in some remote jungle, even before some missionary Muslim converts them? We tend to refer to such remote places as “God foresaken” but are they really, even before any missionaries move in? God is supposed to be omniscient, omnipotent and everpresent everywhere, and accessible to all. I thought everyone is born a Muslim whether they know it or not but then what do I know? But as you like to cast curses that seems more like something a Satanist would do.

Nowhere even vaguely close. AMSL is using EUV. CCP State Owned Enterprises are a full physics generation (or more) behind with lesser UV concepts.

Are you sure about that ? What does ” full physics generation ( or more ) ” mean ?

I am not a chip fab specialist so it is quite possible that “physics generation” was a poor choice of terminology on my part. It might be easier to refer to size in nanometers [nm].

The CCP’s State Owned Enterprises [SOE] are struggling at ~30 nm. Whether they can actually deliver is yet to be seen.

This article is a year old, but provides a decent summary.

    AMSL/TMSC is working on 3nm.

A tech generation is, in essence, a doubling. 3 — 6 — 12 — 24 — 48. So, at best the CCP ~30nm struggling is over three doublings (generations) behind.

understanding in terms of learning years

The breakthroughs that are now required are decidedly non-linear, and much longer than the now obsolete Moore’s Law suggests. Any time estimates should be taken with generous margins.

For efficient private enterprises such as AMSL and Intel, each step is could be as little as ~3 years or so.

For ineffective CCP run political operations? The best they could hope for is half that productivity gain. So, the best case is 3½ generations × ~6 years/generation = ~21 years. Of course, since the primary method of CCP development is theft, not innovation, that number could change based on what they mange to steal. If they cannot illegally obtain a breakthrough concept the time line could be much much longer or impossible.

You will know that you have found a ludicrous CCP “fan boy” if they try to claim that SOE’s can close a technology generation in ~18 months and thus the CCP is less than a decade behind. Nutters and CCP/DNC propagandists are everywhere… There is even one occupying the White House.

Charley, you are famous for writing the most incredible shit on UR. Granny Pelosi went to Taiwan in spite of “fire and fury” threats from Xi, punked him, showed him to be a bitch, and that is a “sign of weakness”.

Where did you study logic ? As for the US being at the weakest point inits history I would say that is a matter of conjecture, yours especially.

“The US wanted to demonstrate its strength at the weakest point in its history”. You must have your Chinese head up your Chinese arse. If at its weakest point in history, the USA faced down “invincible” China, then hell, China will have no future other than another 4000 years of humiliation under the heel of the White Man, when the USA is stronger.

  245. @A123

The CCP is decades behind. And, everyone knows they are a technology predator. No firm is stupid enough to suicide by helping tech thieves.

Just like the US, China did what it needs to do to leap technological advancements. Fortunately, the US was able to copy from the Germans and the British prior to the establishment of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 1967. WIPO was established by the West to keep the newly independent colonial subjects, USSR and China technological behind.

If China were to reinvent the technological wheel, it will always be behind. I think China has reach a point where it can innovate by itself moving forward. China’s R&D spending is now close to the US. Both US and China R&D spending combined is about 60% of total world R&D. In a few years, China’s R&D will exceed the US. The good little dog countries that obediently listen to master WIPO are decades, or even centuries behind.

Going back to your assertion that the CCP is decades behind in semiconductor. Let’s see. China from nowhere was able to produce 28nm chips with sustainable yield two years ago. 28nm was first commercially available in 2010. Based on your logic, China is 10 years behind. 28nm is the gateway to smaller chips. 14nm, 7nm, 5nm and now 3nm all happened rather quickly, on average every 2-3 years.

That’s why in 2 years, China now is ramping up 14nm and is working on 7nm. That’s the reason why the US now wants to ban exports of lithography machines from AMSL not just EUV but older DUV machines to China. China now is working on its own 2nd generation 7nm lithography machines much to the surprise of ASML. ASML’s CEO was quoted saying that “even we give the Chinese our drawings, they will not be able to do it”.

The declaration contains material internal inconsistencies.

If the CCP can already make DUV machines, banning them would be pointless. The need to limit their transfer indicates that the CCP is not only not capable of EUV, it is also not capable of DUV.

With neither DUV nor EUV the idea that the CCP is going for 7nm is absurd propaganda. Trying to proclaim commercial scale 14nm production when they are still facing critical obstacles at ~30nm is another obvious indication of CCP propaganda.

ASML’s CEO was quoted saying that “even we give the Chinese our drawings, they will not be able to do it”.

What are you smoking? I want some of that. SMIC’s new 28nm fab in ShenZhen is ready to go. This new fab and upcoming ones are capable of producing 28nm and 14nm.

Of course anything that is contrary to your perception of reality is CCP propaganda. If CCP propaganda is that good, the whole world would have been drinking the Chinese Koolaid. Seems like most have been drinking the US Koolaid. CPP propaganda is kinda juvenile and unsophisticated. They have a long way to go to match Western propaganda. So anything tangible advancements are usually real.

Remember people were laughing at China for making its first chip that’s equivalent to the 1990s Pentium CPU? Or laughing at China retrofitting an old USSR aircraft carrier and call it “the first Chinese carrier”. I remember the Western media were snickering at China buying the plans from a failed Lavi fighter program from Israel in the 90s. That turned to a solid 4th gen J10 fighter which gave them the knowledge to leapfrog to current 5th gen. After seeing that, they laughed at China’s inability to make its own jet engines that can power its 5th gen fighters. Only 3-4 companies in the world can produce such engines. Last year, China began to fit its J20s with WS-15 engines.

I remember during the Taiwan Strait crisis of the 1995, the US shut off its GPS which rendered the Chinese military blind. Well, now China has its own GPS system. The Beidou, initially for military applications is now also available for public use. Its coverage is larger than the US GPS system.

So, go and laugh at China. Blame the Chinese and underplay any advancements they made because Chinese people are inferior therefore must copy, cannot innovated unlike superior people like you.

If the CCP can already make DUV machines, banning them would be pointless. The need to limit their transfer indicates that the CCP is not only not capable of EUV, it is also not capable of DUV.

China only started to get into making Lithography machines and advance fabbing only recently. After Trump sanctions, it realized that it can’t rely on others as China consumes 60% of the world’s semiconductor but has a market share of 5%. Samsung has 17% and TSMC a whopping 61%. The US is at 12% making itself just as vulnerable as China thus the current Taiwan crisis.

BTW, SMEE is making inroads in DUV machines. SMIC current 7 foundries are making antiquated chips at 200mm and 300mm, After Trump’s sanctions, large amount of money was pumped into SMIC and others to get up to speed. The 28nm foundry will start later this year.

“SMIC isn’t the only Chinese foundry that has grown strongly. Another Chinese foundry, Hua Hong, also has its most advanced technology with a mature 28-nm process and it is working on advanced 14-nm technology – an area where SMIC has already achieved scaled production.” Seeking Alpha

Taiwan is not a part 0f the sovereign state of China. It is an independent country, and its government has a greater claim to legitimacy than the Commie dictator in Beijing. China’s Communist imperialist government is a creation of Joe Stalin, who supplied the Tyrant-to-be, Mao Tse Tung, with the weapons necessary to defeat the legitimate Nationalist Government. Weakness and strength are always relative. The US is relatively weak at this moment of its history compared to Russia and China hence its aggressive and bullying behaviour.

Why do you think the US is telling the Europeans not to do business with Russia ? Is that a sign of strength ? Why is the US afraid of competition with China ? Is fear a sign of strength?

Greedy and hegemonic USA is afraid of losing control in a rapidly changing world . As a result it is using stupid and dangerous bullying tactics at the risk of a global nuclear holocaust. That is a sign of weakness, isn’t it ?

They should put sanctions on Walmart – stop all shipments.
They should put a stop on all exports to any Amazon sellers including Chinese.

I am surprised that all people know are trinkets and toys that small manufacturers in China sold. They constitute a small percentage of the exports from China to the US.

If China wants to halt exports to US, which is only a measly 3% of China’s GDP, it can halt shipments of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), electronics, steel and rare earth.

It can totally stop buying grains from the US. Switch 100% its soybean purchases to future BRICS partners in Brazil and Argentina.

Some key data. China makes 61% of the world’s steel. China is the largest producer of wheat and rice. 2nd largest in corn. Brazil the largest producer of soybean, the US is a close second. and Argentina is third. China is a distant fourth.

Like semiconductors, APIs and rare earth are very difficult to produce with low margins, high complexity, high investments and low yield.

The stupid diplomat doesn’t realize trade with the US is a lower and lower portion of China’s exports.

A lot of so called American experts cherry pick data from any decade to fit their narratives. They repeated them so often that other people started to believe them as facts.

China was export dependent in the 1990s and early 2000s. That was when it was growing at an unprecedented rate. It was able to bring China sub-Saharan level of GDP per capita to today’s middle income GDP per capita, just at the threshold of challenging developed countries.’s%20share%20of%20exports%20in,percent%20in%20the%20previous%20year.

China’s export portion of its GDP is at 19%. Taiwan is at 70%. Germany is at 47%. Netherlands 87%, France 30%, South Korea 43%. Many countries are around 30% to 60%

Of China’s 19% export in GDP percentage, only 3.61% are to the US.

China’s economy is huge due to its size so naturally idiots are going to think that China’s economy is export driven. Nope. Even a total shutdown of exports to the US, only 3.61% of its GDP will be affected. Other countries on the other hand, are very export dependant and if China stops buying from them, they can kiss their respective economies goodbye.

There is a huge difference between GDP and profitability.

Yes. China’s population is huge. Thus, there is a huge amount of transaction volume on daily consumables which are, at best, very low margin.

The rapidly decaying high speed rail system is going to impoverish local governments that participated, unless there is an epic bail out. Yet, high speed rail shows as GDP positive.

The interrelated collapse of provincial property and regional banks are also theoretically GDP positive. Yet, the reality is devastating the daily lives of ordinary citizens.

    There is a hierarchy. Believing:
        • U.S statistics is unwise.
        • European statistics is more unwise.
        • Elite CCP manipulated statistics is most unwise.

I am no fan of U.S. numbers, but at least there is indirect accountability:

Sadly, the shadowstats site itself has had a failed SQL dependency for some time now. Sometimes it runs on mobile devices, more often it does not.

Europe and the CCP simply make up numbers…

Betting on CCP Elites is like sitting on a keg of nitroglycerin in the middle of a forest fire. If it works… you may be hailed as a hero, or deemed prophetic. The more likely scenario is messy failure.

That means China’s economy is mostly domestic just like the US. In the world only two countries are large enough to have a sustainable domestic economy. That’s US and China. Both have a large enough population with enough resources and technological know how.

China gross domestic product, only 19% are related to exports. Make sense? With 1.3 billion people, it only make senses that China GDP is mostly domestic. If China stops exporting, it will still survive. Sure, it may not make more money but it will survive therefore to use Chinese exports as a weapon will not work. That was the premise of your original post. Your post stated that to curtail exports from China will bring China to its senses. So now you are talking about what?

    Some correction:

China’s total trade percentage is about 18%, including imports, not just exports. I think they recently passed the U.S. as the largest consumer market.

That % is falling fast. That’s just the nature of things, China is not trying to be autarkic (closed off) like Russia, but as a market of 1.4 billion producers/consumers, trade naturally goes down as fraction of the economy. Most stuff produced in China gets sold in China (82%).

Of the total trade of China, trade with the U.S. is about 17%. Total imports and exports from/to the U.S. is about 3% of Chinese GDP.

I don’t care what people get up to but words should have meaning, as should ceremonies, traditions, etc. Otherwise anything can be anything, and it all leads to a meaningless, pointless world. Churches should promote their respective religions, beliefs, traditions and lifestyles, and not the GloboHomo NWO woke agenda, otherwise they lose legitimacy and are pointless and meaningless other than as instruments for brainwashing the masses with the satanic GloboHomo NWO woke ideogy. And if you want to practice polygamy convert to Islam and go live in a Muslim country where that is acceptable. And if homos want religion, marriage, religious ceremonies, etc. they should create a religion of their own instead of infiltrating and subverting Christianity and other religions. But I guess they do have their own religion, satanism, and are infiltrating it into legitimate Christian churches. My assertion was confirmed – ALL Croats support Ustashas and approve the genocide they conducted on Serbs. Not a single Croats denounced their genocide during the ww2 and their repeated genocide in 90ies. With help from US jets, they ethnically cleansed several thousands of Serbs, those who survived ww2 genocide.

American Jewish media pre-emptively accused Serbs of ethnic cleansing even, there is now almost not any Serbs in today’s Croatia and where 100 or so years ago were a majority. Not any Croatian politician or officer was accused of this 90ies genocide when they also killed thousands of Serbs. Paradoxically, the Nato’s Hague Tribunal prosecuted a Serbian leader of Serbs in Croatia on life sentence.

Couple days ago, was the anniversary of this genocide which was widely celebrated in Croatia led by Croatian president and government. Ustashas were marching through empty Serbian places and villages, singing their Nazi songs and swearing to continue their genocide against the Serbs. Croats took several hundreds of thousands of Serbian houses, agriculture land, forests, factories and businesses. So, considering that not one Croats denounced Ustasha, I will not retract my assertion:
Croats are a genocidal group without one single exemption!
