Mercedes is making EVs, so this is in theory an opposition to banning the competition.

Xinhua:

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has reiterated its opposition to the European Union’s (EU) planned tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs), urging a delay in implementing these highly controversial measures to avoid harming interests of both sides.

“We need more free trade, not additional barriers,” Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kaellenius told German media outlet Bild on Monday. He emphasized that the proposed tariffs would fail to enhance the EU’s global competitiveness, which is crucial for the bloc’s successful transformation and long-term economic growth.

It’s very easy for Germany to whine, because it doesn’t mean anything, because they apparently have no control of EU law.

But this does look very bad for them, especially given that they are the biggest of the moron global warmists.

The first video of Scholz is a misleading edit and interpretation — Scholz is not categorically against tariffs, per se — he is critical of trade policy on the EU level — he is against the unilateral imposition of tariffs by the EU, which he thinks will provoke conflict over trade with China — he favors comprehensive discussions between the EU and China within a framework of reaching a wider agreement on trade.

Germany must forge new policy to save its industry, says Scholz

“We did not hand over the competence for trade policy to Europe only for no more trade agreements to be agreed,” he said.

Scholz also criticized the EU’s decision to impose tariffs on Chinese-made electric cars, saying 17 other states were sceptical as well as all the executives of carmakers with whom he had spoken.

“My request is that we come to an agreement between China and the European Union,” he said.

Given the political winds, and what the future likely holds for German industrialization, it’s pretty much over. The German automobile industry (BMW, MB, and VAG) needs China. China doesn’t need the German automobile industry. It’s as simple as that.

But you have Annalena Baerbock on the warpath. Showing up in Beijing dressed like an overfed soccer mom, lecturing and hectoring the Chinese. Imagine a diplomat dressed like this. Totally unserious. But that’s what you get when your mom is in charge.

If the premise here, is that this article is important because we are all “jonesing” for electric cars, gimme a fuck’n break.

No one with an IQ above that of inbred bacteria would want to buy an overpriced, battery dependent, mileage limited EV.

Fuck being a “kool kid” and fuck the fags who buy these pieces of shit, that are tethered to distance by way of recharging stations, in blue 15 minute cities where we all eat bugs and wait for orders from niggers who wait for orders from Kikes.

Electricity is mostly the product of fossil fuels.

Oh shit! My One Ton 350 Ford pickup truck blew up in my garage!

Whew! Close call, that was an electric car that belongs to the tranny next door.

    If the premise here…

No Chuck. That’s not the premise. Look beyond the superficial. The point is that the German automobile industry is on the ropes. To survive in the weird economy the EU has created it has to rely on joint ventures with China, expanding into that growing Asian market. EU tariffs run the risk of Chinese retaliation on German cars sold in China.

As far as electric? The infrastructure can make it work, with new battery tech, and for mostly city traffic. But that’s really a side issue to the problem that the German automobile industry faces. BMW, Audi, and MB have a strong following and market presence in China. Get rid of that due to reciprocal tariffs, and what do you have left?

Yeah, don’t cry for Germany, because they rigged the system to make vetos of EU policy far more difficult so they could push little countries like Hungary around… nary a thought that sauce for the goose could also be sauce for the gander.

Tesla has already completed it mission, by making EVs mainstream. If they go under, it doesn’t matter, because the cat is already out of the bag.

Electric cars just exist to make goyim think they’ll have an option for personal transportation in the future. They are never meant to be affordable or practical, though. The goal is not to transition western consumers to electric vehicles, but to transition them to no vehicles of their own.

The EU is run by that insufferable, hereditary Nazi, cunt, von der Leyen, and she follows orders from Thanatopolis DC, not Europe. The war against China is the greatest priority EVER for the Western ‘Gods Upon the Earth’, and any hesitation is treachery to the God-ordained White, Western Judaic-(Christian) hegemony.

  14. @Jeramy

Consult a neurologist, quickly. Something is awry with your brain. Why hydrogen when solar electricity is safe and inexhaustible? Are you just pissed that the Chinese are miles ahead with EVs?

  15. @Not Important

You gotta love the idiocy. No wonder we will soon go extinct. The world is going electric, non-fossil fuel polluting, quiet, efficient and solar power for the electricity is inexhaustible. And cheap, the engines being simple and batteries rapidly improving.

Germans should have learned that an export economy is suicide. You are literally attaching the life blood of your nation to an enemy. At any moment he can go for the kill.

    Jesus Gawd. They SUCK!!!!

    1. The cost of using roads by EV’s is going up. The cost right now is over $200/year and soon to hit $300, depending on the state. This is the equivalent of driving 50,000 miles a year in a gas vehicle when your are paying the taxes at the pump.
    2. The charging cables for the EV is now an added charge, as of 2023. The 120Volt/10 amp charging cable will take many hours/a full day to fully charge the EV. This is an added $200 to $400 cost. For a home charging station 240Volt/20-amp home charging station can run you about $5000: equipment, rewiring house electrical and installation.
    3. If you charge at a public charging station you are going to pay 200 to 400 percent more than at home. Also, if you are charging longer than four hours you get a $20/hour added fee for each additional hour.
    4. Tires: The EV is a HEAVY vehicle, and the tires wear out VERY fast. The torque from the acceleration and breaking from all that extra weight wears out the tires at twice the rate. A tire that would last for 40,000 miles on a GV would only last 15,000 to 20,000 miles on an EV.
    5. Higher insurance rates: These EV are very expensive to purchase and repair. There is lots of advanced technology and few places that can do repairs outside of the dealership, ~ $600/year extra. It is like owning a 100K plus exotic sports car that can only be serviced and repaired at the dealer.

They are all ‘problems’ already being resolved in sane societies like China. In the corrupt moronocracy of the USA, the ICE and fossil fuel lobbies ensure that EVs are sabotaged out of corruption, greed and a desire to see humanity extinguished through anthropogenic climate destabilisation. The last is unarguable, now, sixty years after fossil fuel scientists warned their bosses of the coming climate cataclysm. How much do you receive for your agit-prop trolling?Chuck-how appropriate.

It’s Germany’s ‘friend’, the USA, that is going in for the kill. China just wants to trade.

  20. @Haxo Angmark

Chuck by name, chuck by nature. Of the three types, ICE, BEVs and hybrids, BEVs are the least prone to fire, and hybrids the most. And the troll is a homophobe and tranny hater, too! How unsurprising.
Pathetic, ain’t it, troll, that those goddammed ‘Chink rice niggers’ have solved or are solving all the EV problems and are buying them in preference to all other types, in the biggest car market on Earth, but the ‘White’ ubermenschen of the USA! USA! USA!, can’t find their arses with a torch, a road map and GPS.
