  1. Why bother commenting on China if you don’t know that it works differently from America? That’s pretty basic. Unless you have investigated a problem you should be deprived of the right to speak on it. Is that too harsh? Not at all. When you have not probed a problem and know nothing of its essentials, or looked into the present facts and their history, whatever you say about it will undoubtedly be nonsense. Talking nonsense solves no problems, as everyone knows, so why is it unjust to deprive you of the right to speak? You must investigate! You must not talk nonsense! That was Mao Zedong’s point of view, and its relevant here.

Bringing Mr. Xi’s titles into alignment with his other, more substantive titles–the presidency is a ceremonial title only, unrelated to power–changes nothing.

His ‘power’ (which obsesses Westerners) is unaltered. He still needs to unanimous vote of five guys who are smarter than him and whom he did not choose and cannot remove from office. And that’s just to get legislation before Congress–whom he did not choose and cannot dismiss or overrule and who can spend ten years tinkering with it before passing it.

Any country who lucked onto an experienced, effective, honest leader like him would be insane to let him escape. He’s a keeper, and they want to make sure he feels appreciated, that’s all.
