Just as their predecessors of the 1920s always denied the existence of “Jewish quotas,” top officials at Harvard, Yale, Princeton and the other Ivy League schools today strongly deny the existence of “Asian quotas.” But there exists powerful statistical evidence to the contrary.

Each year, American universities provide their racial enrollment data to the National Center for Education Statistics, which makes this information available online. After the Justice Department closed an investigation in the early 1990s into charges that Harvard University discriminated against Asian-American applicants, Harvard’s reported enrollment of Asian-Americans began gradually declining, falling from 20.6 percent in 1993 to about 16.5 percent over most of the last decade.

This decline might seem small. But these same years brought a huge increase in America’s college-age Asian population, which roughly doubled between 1992 and 2011, while non-Hispanic white numbers remained almost unchanged. Thus, according to official statistics, the percentage of Asian-Americans enrolled at Harvard fell by more than 50 percent over the last two decades, while the percentage of whites changed little. This decline in relative Asian-American enrollment was actually larger than the impact of Harvard’s 1925 Jewish quota, which reduced Jewish freshmen from 27.6 percent to 15 percent.

The percentages of college-age Asian-Americans enrolled at most of the other Ivy League schools also fell during this same period, and over the last few years Asian enrollments across these different universities have converged to a very similar level and remained static over time. This raises suspicions of a joint Ivy League policy to restrict Asian-American numbers to a particular percentage.

Meanwhile, the California Institute of Technology follows a highly selective but strictly race-neutral admissions policy, and its enrollment of Asian-Americans has grown almost exactly in line with the growth of the Asian-American population.

The last 20 years have brought a huge rise in the number of Asians winning top academic awards in our high schools or being named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. It seems quite suspicious that none of trends have been reflected in their increased enrollment at Harvard and other top Ivy League universities.

Some individuals have suggested that Asian-Americans no longer apply to the Ivy League in large numbers and this explains their reduced presence. The prestigious University of California system routinely releases the racial totals for its college applicants, which allows the public to examine admission rates by race. During the 1980s, Ivy League colleges sometimes did so as well, but more recently have begun keeping these figures secret. If Harvard and the other Ivy League schools simply released their racial application totals for the last 20 years, we might easily resolve the disturbing suspicion that they have quietly implemented a system of “Asian-American quotas.”

Since the Ivy League universities currently release their yearly racial totals both for admissions and for enrollments, I cannot see what plausible excuse they might have against also releasing their racial application totals. This would allow us to examine the trends of racial admission rates for the last couple of decades, and decide whether or not these seemed suspicious.

ORDER IT NOW

Between 1980 and 1987 the Brown University admissions rate for Asian-American applicants dropped by over 40% compared with that for all other racial groups. This discovery provoked considerable media scrutiny during the 1980s and eventually contributed to a federal investigation into anti-Asian discrimination at elite colleges. Perhaps as a consequence, the Ivy League has steadfastly refused to release any subsequent admissions rate figures, raising obvious suspicions that they might have something to hide.

Last week, Charles Murray of the conservative American Enterprise Institute, one of America’s most prominent social scientists, argued that the statistical data seems to demonstrate a clear pattern of racial discrimination against Asian-American applicants to Ivy League universities. Now this New York Times forum has raised exactly the same question, including similar charges by former Delaware Lt. Governor S.B. Woo, who served as Founding President of 80-20, one of America’s leading Asian-American advocacy organizations.

American academics and journalists all across the political spectrum should begin asking Harvard and the other Ivy League universities to release the racial application totals which might substantiate their claims that they have not adopted “Asian-American quotas.”

Do they screw over their Asian alumni they do include in terms of jobs or cause children to have to be separated from their parents. Are they breaking up family life or financially milking their Asians?

  2. anon[204] • Disclaimer says:

I agree, the application data should be released to show what % Asians were accepted compared to other groups. The website “College Confidential” often have kids posting their stats while indicating which colleges they were accepted to. Almost without fail all those accepted, especially via early action, with mediocre credentials were all black, while Asian kids with amazing stats and extra curricular activities were rejected in large numbers. Each year the media always touts kids who were accepted to all 8 Ivies plus Stanford & MIT, and they are always overwhelmingly black who did not achieve anything earth shattering like winning the International Math Olympiad, Intel Science or Chess Championship.

The Justice Dept. should make all the elite schools disclose their application data. They could say they are private institutions, but each year they receive billions in government funds for countless research projects, as well as cheating taxpayers out of billions by not paying property taxes or taxes on their endowment gains through their non-profit status. If Harvard wants to keep their data private, they could do so by giving up all those public funds and giving up on their non-profit status and start paying taxes. Until then, they owe taxpayers the truth. Asians pay taxes too. In fact as the highest earning group they probably pay far more taxes than blacks and hispanics, and receive the fewest benefits in return.

Middle class, unhooked gentile whites are the most discriminated as a group. Per Ron Unz 25% of the 40% “whites” in each class are Jews, which means WASPs make up only 15% of the total admits, despite being 62% of the population. Middle class WASPs are sold out in a big, big way by their elites like the RINOs, Koch brothers, Bill Gates, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Robert Mueller, and all the rank-and-file self-loathing, Kool-Aid drinking, brainwashed WASPs in media, academia, tech and deep state.

Is this really a bad thing though? Do we really want the east Asians taking over our elite universities? I think not. In fact, I don’t think we should be educating any of these people, and perhaps we should start thinking of ways to repatriate the ones that are here back to their countries of origin. I support the Ivy League quota system, assuming it exists.

The quotas should favor actual Americans, not swarms of orientals. Blacks have been a persecuted minority in America for centuries, and if they get a few seats over better qualified applicants, so what?

Meritocracy in a multicultural and multiracial society is going to create wide disparities in outcome, and as a result wide spread resentment, why even keep up the pretension?

Good, Asians aren’t Americans, but blacks are. Whatever issues we may have with black in Americans, and there are many, they have been here since the beginning. Asians are parasitically feeding off the decline of this country. Once the country goes, they’ll go scurry back home. Black Americans aren’t going anywhere.

Some time back I enrolled in an on line academic program leading to a professional degree. After a while I discovered that some students participating on line, were not on the student roster.. at a meeting of the students (rare get together) one of the very beautiful Asian students admitted she was not only not enrolled, was able to take the courses without personal cost and she was not a resident of the USA. I think she said was employed by some USA government agency; that she worked for that agency at a location in a foreign country, taking the course on-line. She said if she passed the courses, her degree would come from the well known teaching university..

Much like the Jews from an earlier era, Asians indeed tend to be about ‘stats’ along with that other famously aggrieved (and wildly over-represented) minority group. But when Ivy League admissions officers wanted to take other factors into account (e.g. character, integrity, accomplishment, creativity, independence, imagination, leadership, risk-taking, athletic performance) they were accused of discriminating against ‘merit’ –since a couple of groups excelled at test-taking and grades (and not much else), they argued that numeric scores were the only kind of ‘merit’ that could be considered. Convenient, huh. History is definitely repeating itself.

Now remind us which group is actually under-represented in the halls of upper-class, elite academe?

  17. That old canard is always raised i.e. “their predecessors of the 1920s always denied the existence of a Jewish quota” – but those old Jewish quotas were quite different than the Asian problem at the Harvard of today. Jews at Harvard tripled to 21% of the freshman class in 1922 from about 7% in 1900, but by 1931 that was reduced to 15%. This percentage of jews at Harvard gradually increased to 25% of the class in the mid 1960s and has remained there. Even the low of 15% in 1931 which is called a “quota” is in fact a 7-fold over-representation of Jews which today is a 12-fold over-representation compared to the blatant and consistent under-representation of Asians at Harvard.

Take a trip to Vancouver, Canada.

AA is necessary when living in a multicultural and multiracial society. Larger disparities in educational outcome, which there would be without AA, would create even more racial resentment than there is already. 34. *Yawn*

Given how tribal and chauvinistic Asians generally are, I have a hard time getting worked up about anti-Asian discrimination – real or perceived. One thing people also have to keep in mind is that Asians chose to come here. Unlike blacks who were brought to America involuntarily as slaves, nobody forced Asians to move to the United States and live as a minority.

(I’m willing to make an exception for Vietnamese, Cambodians, and Hmong who fled their homelands as a result of US intervention)

I don’t care how assiduous and brilliant Asian students are; they shouldn’t be overrepresented in elite institutions. The US and other majority-white countries were doing just fine before Asians comprised a large percentage of students at top universities, and shouldn’t fall on their own swords in the name of “meritocracy.”

It would be interesting to know if Jewish applicants are given preferential admissions treatment. That is to say Jews suffered discrimination by Harvard in the past but once they attain the seats of power (I would imagine a large percent of the admissions office is Jewish) do they then manipulate the system to benefit their kind and in consequence Asians and christian whites suffer. A study a few years ago on admissions found out that the most disadvantaged people at elite institutions were rural whites. There are probably plenty of reasons and all of them probably contribute to it. People in cities looking down on rural people. Extracurricular activities looked down upon such as being a volunteer at the local theater group rather than being a member of 4H. The letters of recommendation where urban people can get them from their network that consists of a lot of academics (other Jews) versus one from the leader of a local chapter of an agriculture society. Jews may not be completely driving this situation but by being largely urban would tend to be able to take advantage of this situation.

Shush, Ivy league institutions that discriminate against Asians are doing god’s work. If you keep publicizing it they might change things. Please use your wealth and Unz.com to increase rather than decrease discrimination against Asians at elite American institutions.

Let’s say Harvard replaces say 200 Asian candidates with 200 White/Jewish/Other candidates, so what? Let’s see what happens:

    1) Those 200 Asians, who by Harvard standards are the least capable, do not cease to exist they go somewhere else. Now being the least capable of the Harvard Asian candidates probably also means they would get comparatively little financial support if they attended Harvard, but I would have to assume the least capable Asians rejected by Harvard due to an anti Asian quota would get a full freight academic scholarship somewhere else, for example Old Miss, U. of Indiana Bloomginton, ect not to mention a bunch of expensive but smallish WASPy liberal arts colleges. Who knows they might even get a scholarship to Brandeis, which would be amusing since the Jew they replace will be at Harvard. In other words our sad 200 Asians rejected from Harvard due to some mindless quota will be the absolute smartest students at say, Villanova. Some of our sad rejected Asian students will get top grades at the U of Alabama where they will get drunk with Bubba while others will wear silly plaid Gator shorts while smoking dope in Gainsville overlooking US 441 of Tom Petty fame.

Think of the possibilities rather than the lost opportunities. While it is true our sad young Asian will miss out at the chance of a lifetime to hobnob with the future elite of the American Empire, what if it is god’s will that the American Empire comes to an abrupt end (See E Micheal Jones)? What a waste of time, money and talents buried (see Parable of the Talents). Our sad rejected Asians will have the inside track to the ‘p0wer and dominion’ (Eph 1:21) of America’s state and county capitals.

At the same time as the Harvard admissions committee is giving these bright young Asians the chance to dominate local politics across Fly Over USA, Harvard is ensuring their success by removing their competition at the U of Arkansas and bringing their competitors to the BosNYWash corridor where they will be forever alienated from the commoners and become indebted and spoiled and possibly homosexual (think that through Asian parents).

#2 But more importantly Harvard will do for our sad rejected but still brilliant young Asians what millennia of philosophers, religious leaders, parents, and teachers have failed at. Our sad young Asians will learn that there is injustice in this world. They will learn humility. Such lessons take most a lifetime of pain to learn but our sad rejected but still brilliant will get them in an instant for free while young enough to be able to prosper from such wisdom.

As an example consider the case of a young Californian who for no fault of his own was forced to attend a small local college rather than a big important University out East. It turned out to be the turning point that sent him to the White House. I suggest each sad rejected but still brilliant Asian read the biography of Richard Milhouse Nixon.

#3 And Finally the young White/Jewish/Other students that replace the Asians at Harvard, while still brilliant, will always be the least capable students at Harvard and will be forever in their lives wounded by that experience, and will likely be left with huge debts.

That last clause is a tad problematic, within the context of your overall argument–which was fairly sound until then. In order to be consistent, you’ll have to show that the American population of Asian descent is some multiple of the 22.2 percent in Harvard’s class of 2021 they represent. Otherwise it seems as though Asians are over-represented just as Jews are, even if not to the exact same degree.

51.5% women at Harvard, closer to 60% at other top schools, about 30% of Gentile non-Hispanic Whites are Catholic. Counting only the ones who are heterosexual WASP men, maybe 4.5% of the undergraduate class. Of those, nearly all are leftists, leaving perhaps 1 – 1.5% that are conservative normal WASP men. (vs. ~1/9 of the US 18 year-old applicant pool) Still need to keep a few around to be blamed for everything, even at Harvard, though.
