Trump's Enemies See an Opening

“Fake news!” roared Donald Trump, the work of “sick people.”

The president-elect was referring to a 35-page dossier of lurid details of his alleged sexual misconduct in Russia, worked up by a former British spy. A two-page summary of the 35 pages had been added to Trump’s briefing by the CIA and FBI — and then leaked to CNN.

This is “something that Nazi Germany would have done,” Trump said. Here, basically, is the story.

During the primaries, anti-Trump Republicans hired the ex-spy to do “oppo research” on Trump, i.e., to dig up dirt.

The spy contacted the Russians. They told him that Trump, at a Moscow hotel in 2013, had been engaged in depraved behavior, that they had the films to blackmail him, and that Trump’s aides had been colluding with them.

When Trump won the nomination, Democrats got the dossier and began shopping it around to the mainstream media. Some sought to substantiate the allegations. None could. So none of them published the charges.

In December, a British diplomat gave the dossier to Sen. John McCain, who personally turned it over to James Comey of the FBI.

On Jan. 7, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and his colleagues at the NSA, CIA and FBI decided the new president needed to know about the dossier. They provided him with a two-page synopsis.

Once CNN learned Trump had been briefed, the cable news network reported on the unpublished dossier, without going into the lurid details.

BuzzFeed released all 35 pages. The story exploded.

Besides Trump’s understandable outrage, his Jan. 11 press conference produced related news.

U.S. intelligence agencies had for months contended that it was Russia who hacked the DNC emails and those of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta. Putin’s objectives, they contend, were to damage both U.S. democracy and Hillary Clinton, whom Putin detests, and to aid Trump.

Trump had previously dismissed claims of Russian hacking as unproved conjecture, and also as being advanced to delegitimize his victory.

Wednesday, Trump conceded Russia did it: “As far as hacking, I think it was Russia,” adding, Vladimir Putin “should not be doing it.”

The stakes in all of this are becoming huge.

Clearly, Trump hopes to work out with Putin the kind of detente that President Nixon achieved with Leonid Brezhnev.

This should not be impossible. For, unlike the 1970s, there is no Soviet Empire stretching from Havana to Hanoi, no Warsaw Pact dominating Central Europe, no Communist ideology steering Moscow into constant Cold War conflict with the West.

Russia is a great power with great power interests. But she does not seek to restore a global empire or remake the world in her image. U.S.-Russian relations are thus ripe for change.

But any such hope is now suddenly impaired.

The howls of indignation from Democrats and the media — that Trump’s victory and Clinton’s defeat were due to Putin’s involvement in our election — have begun to limit Trump’s freedom of action in dealing with Russia. And they are beginning to strengthen the hand of the Russophobes and the Putin-is-Hitler crowd in both parties.

When Secretary of State-designate Rex Tillerson went before the Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Marco Rubio demanded to know why he would not publicly declare Putin a “war criminal.”

The more toxic Putin-haters can make the Russian president, the more difficult for President Trump to deal with him, even if that is in the vital national interest of the United States.

The sort of investigation for which McCain has been clamoring, and the Beltway drums have now begun to beat, could make it almost impossible for President Trump to work with President Putin.

The Washington Post describes the engine it wishes to see built:

“The investigators of Russian meddling, whether a Congressional select committee or an independent commission, should have bipartisan balance, full subpoena authority, no time limit and a commitment to make public as much as possible of what they find.”

What the Post seeks is a Watergate Committee like the one that investigated the Nixon White House, or a commission like the ones that investigated 9/11 and the JFK assassination.

Trump “should recognize,” writes the Post, “that the credibility of his denials of any Russian connections is undermined by his refusal to release tax returns and business records.”

In short, when the investigation begins, Trump must produce the evidence to establish his innocence. Else, he is Putin’s man.

This city is salivating over another Watergate, another broken president. But President-elect Trump should be aware of what is at stake. As The Wall Street Journal writes:

“Mr. Trump’s vehement denials (of collusion with Moscow and corrupt behavior) also mean that if we learn in the future that Russia does have compromising details about him, his Presidency could be over.”

Yes, indeed, very big stakes.

    Mao killed 10s of millions.

But the Libs praised Nixon’s trip to China.

Putin wants peace, but the Libs say Trump must denounce him.

Libs are Jewish elites(who are still angry at Putin’s move against Jewish oligarchs) and homos(who hate Russia as bulwark against homomania).

And speaking of ‘war criminal’, who destroyed Iraq, Libya, and Syria?

Bush, Hillary, and Obama are the war criminals. And Netabyahu in Gaza.

If US intelligence, that hacks the entire world, failed to protect the US election, it should take the blame.

And given that US has interfered in elections in Russia and elsewhere, it’s tit for tat… if Russia is to blame.

And given the media-state collusion against Trump, the Libs have no qualification to invoke principles.
The media violated every rule in the book to get Hillary elected.
Also, whoever provided the info to Wikileaks, what it showed was that the Democrats, government, and media all plotted together to take down Sanders and Trump.

Wikileaks only showed that the Democrats were playing dirty as hell.

Is there smoking gun that Russia gave the documents to Wikileaks?

If it’s just a matter of hacking, everyone hacks everyone. What is the big deal?

And who among Libs would be complaining if Wikileaks had spilled the beans on Trump?

  4. Rubio, Graham, Cruz, and McCain don’t trust the 17 intelligence agencies when they say, with high confidence level, that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons and that she stopped any development work back in 2003. They want to rip the Nuclear agreement. But the same four Israeli stooges believe the same Intelligences agencies that Russia hacked the US Presidential election. They want to overturn the election results or delegitimize the President-elect even before he is inaugurated. I guess this is what they mean by “democracy to their liking.” That is, if their candidate doesn’t win the democracy is in danger.

I think it is time for Trump supporters to rise up and go after these senators and show support to the person they voted in office. Start calling these senators to back off. The voters have that power.

    This is the bottom line.

Either Republican voters make the open traitors amongst their representatives (such as McCain and Rubio) fear paying a price, or there is no hope of ever getting honest representation because the Democrats will combine with the RINOs to simply destroy any such, as they are now close to doing with Trump over policy on Russia and potentially his entire Presidency.

Nah no mistake, he has an easy out after he gets in office and can see ALL the intelligence, he can say "they lied to me" and "here is the actual evidence".

United States is closer to disintegration than many would assume. It is a divided country on several levels, with one huge factor in play--Trump supporters are armed to the teeth and on the order of magnitude are better with weapons than any "diversity" supporter of HRC. This is strategic, operational and tactical factor, apart from being a political and cultural one. Hopefully, it will not come to this factor defining the outcomes.

Partly misplaced loyalty (to people who have no loyalty themselves), perhaps partly a foolish kind of naïve ignorance about just how poisonous these types are. And probably a large chunk of simple indolence.

    Yes, indeed, very big stakes.

They are, indeed, big for the United States, not for Russia, who is ready to meet by now just about any contingency. US establishment already paraded itself as a collection of crooks, morons and hacks and did damage on several orders of magnitude larger than any hypothetical “Russian hacking” could do to American “democracy”, which is now a term used as a profanity. It is not a democracy, nor is it a “republic” anymore–it is a government by political and ethnic mafias and by financial oligarchic groups. This internal power struggle may (and probably will) produce the most dire consequences for the US and, considering a number psychopaths who infest D.C., the main issue will be to prevent nuclear war.

  13. Russians are like the French. A revolution that gave France airs of being the world’s most ideologically advanced, materially dynamic, and (despite being frequently trounced) militarily unbeatable country was followed by a humiliating failure to maintain international status. For France the meteoric rise of German productive capacity(potential military power) pressaged a shocking defeat that . removed them from the first rank, although they tried to go on pretending for decades (as with 1898 France was acting large in the Fashoda Incident, whereby they went to the Brink of war with Britain over Africa. The loss of the Russio Japanese war and the subsequent revolution having removed the French ally Czarist state from the equation , a formal alliance with Britain was accepted by France. The Germans saw it as encirclement in preparation to a war of extermination against them by old powers that could not accept their German’s rise.

For Soviet Russia the main event came when Marshal Nikolai Ogarkov chief of the Soviet general staff announced in 1984 that the USSR was rapidly losing military technology ground on America. The Russians are now in the same state of mind as France at the time Fashoda. They are finished as an independent superpower and need to realise it as much as madmen such as Zbigniew Brzezinski., who thinks Russia needs to be contained lest is conquers Estonia, which would apparently make turn into a imperial world island hegemon.

Brzezinski does not see the danger of China, which is current trends will dominate by deindustrializing the Wes. Unlike Russia the Chinese may well be capable of equaling US technical innovation, and when added to their vast population and attendant economies of scale, China will be a mega power before too long. Russia still thinks it is all about it and the best way to disabuse them is to leave them severely alone especially in Ukraine. Russia will be seeing progressive nullification of North Korean (and by implication Chinese) nukes by US world leading technology such as the THAAD. Even if THAAD is not in Europe, Russia will come to see over the next decade that their own nukes do not make them a power of the first rank. At that point there will be a fundamental reassessment within Russia of who their real enemy is, and who they should ally with to recieve the technology that they are totally unable of producing for themselves.

We should essentially drop NATO for a Russian Ally. We gain nothing from NATO beside liabilities. Russia, on the other hand, is a powerful strategic counterweight for China, as it would mean a Northern front in a war against the US. Most Chinese SAM/AAA efforts are directed against the US Navy on the coasts, so opening up the entire Northern flank to regular TACAIR attack from the US Air Force would be a severe strategic problem for China, especially as it opens the possibility of an armored blitz into the population/governmental centers of Northern China. Similarly, dumping Pakistan for tight ties with India would see China ringed in by hostile powers, with the 7th fleet ready to erase decades of globalist-fueled Chinese mercantile fleet growth in a couple afternoons.

Barack Obama is desperately trying to create blocks to prevent the total erasure of his meagre legacy. He turned out to be a failed president, hypocritical and inefficient. Good riddance to him and his team.
His foreign policy is a total disaster. No wonder! he trusted and relied on the inept Hillary and even Kerry did not have the time to correct the result of her criminal blunders. Obama showed a total lack of judgment when he chose herthat lead to the murder of hundred of thousands people in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Bush did not do such harm to so many countries. Obama has beaten the record.
    Then I say Good riddance!
Thank God, Trump is tough. He has a mountain of problems to solve, peaces to enforce in the world in addition to the failing Obama toy, Obama care.
Trump has show good judgement. He has not nominated his friends or supporters ( giulani etc..) He has selected a group of impressive experts and professionals even if they did not agree with him on all cases.
Now that he chose some who do not ‘like’ Russia, he can’t be accused of favoritism.

    Realist,

"Hillary won the popular vote accept reality."

If we accept "reality" than we have to concede that Hillary probably LOST the DNC nomination to Bernie, to begin with.

Were it not for the back room party bosses "sordid shenanigans" which tilted the vote in her favor,.... Hillary would not have been in the general election against the Donald at all.

    This is the reality.

If there was a true"desecration" of our democracy during this election cycle, it was in the gifting of the nomination to Hillary when she didn't earn it .

Our big media is not only loathe to discuss this , but has spared no expense shouting "Putin,Putin ,Putin " so loudly and so repeatedly , it has served as a grand deflection away from the very "real" criminal tampering, by our OWN party bosses, which transpired.

And judging from everyone's reaction, it has worked like a charm.

DC isn't experiencing an outbreak of medieval Ergotism, or a new epidemic of St. Vitus' Dance. Brennen, Clapper, Lewis et al are not idiots, nor are they hallucinating. They're lying of course, but their ability to stare earnestly into a camera and express absurdities with a straight face suggests there may be something rather more sinister afoot.

But of course they can both be true.

I think you've hit very close to the mark. Part of what's going on is Orwellian Doublethink, and it points to even more dangerous developments.

"In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense.... If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable – what then?

The "Russian hacking/interfering" meme is drawing a dividing line across the power centres of Washington. If you can hold two contradictory ideas simultaneously; if you can deny reason and reality with a straight face, you can be an insider. If you can't, or won't you're a Deplorable and, like 1984's Proles, you don't, or soon won't, matter.
A coalition, perhaps a new Party, is forming across Rep-Dem lines, and it's hell bent on an agenda. Not only the Presidency, the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and Justice are at risk. Reason and even reality itself are under attack; their Will to Power trumps all of them.

America is on a very slippery slope into an abyss. This extraordinary meme continues to gain momentum. If it can prevent the Trump administration ever getting the traction needed to haul it out, the next administration won't even try.

    What then, indeed.

It seemed that Trump sounded sincere when during his press conference he said he is going to have a broad and thorough investigation of the hacks (by Russia).

Also, we don’t really know on what terms he wanted the rapprochement with Russia to happen. He didn’t really say a whole lot during the campaign. He never really revealed his cards, hiding behind vague statements such as “Wouldn’t it be great to be friends with Russia?”. He even mentioned that he didn’t want Putin to know what his plans would be.

"Either Republican voters make the open traitors amongst their representatives (such as McCain and Rubio) fear paying a price, or there is no hope of ever getting honest representation because the Democrats will combine with the RINOs to simply destroy any such, as they are now close to doing with Trump over policy on Russia and potentially his entire Presidency."

Yet the dumb ass votes of Arizona and South Carolina continually reelect insane McCain and the lovely and vivacious Ms Graham.

Partly misplaced loyalty (to people who have no loyalty themselves), perhaps partly a foolish kind of naïve ignorance about just how poisonous these types are. And probably a large chunk of simple indolence.

Those in their constituencies who do see their treason should be organising now to try to use this issue to get them out, anyway.

  26. As usual, Democrats can commit treason and it doesn’t disqualify them from office. Clinton apparently did just that, and still won more popular votes.

Trump is accused of denying Russian involvement, then sorta-kinda conceding that maybe they did that.

And that makes him ripe for a Nixonian bust from office?

C’mon, Pat. You’re better than that.

This is silly....Der Trumpster is supposed to fear the likes of Tokyo Rose McCain, Dame Lindsey, the former Chippendale dancer Rubio, Goldman Cruz? Trumpster assumes the imperial throne in just 5 days. A wise Italian once said: you strike at the king, make sure you kill him.....lest he take revenge at the first opportunity.

“If you strike at a king, make sure you kill him” is from American Ralph Waldo Emerson. Here’s another Emerson quote that I think applies to the culture shift 2016 American election.
** In an address on the “Progress of Culture,” before the Phi Beta Kappa Society of Harvard College, in 1867; in which he also said, “The foundation of culture, as of character, is at last the moral sentiment;” and, “Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force, that thoughts rule the world.”** http://www.bartleby.com/344/157.html

Were it not for the back room party bosses “sordid shenanigans” which tilted the vote in her favor,…. Hillary would not have been in the general election against the Donald at all.

    This is the reality.

If there was a true”desecration” of our democracy during this election cycle, it was in the gifting of the nomination to Hillary when she didn’t earn it .

Our big media is not only loathe to discuss this , but has spared no expense shouting “Putin,Putin ,Putin ” so loudly and so repeatedly , it has served as a grand deflection away from the very “real” criminal tampering, by our OWN party bosses, which transpired.

And judging from everyone’s reaction, it has worked like a charm.

For someone who claims to have such a high IQ, you're pretty damn stupid. Anyone of average intelligence would know I am not a leftist.
  37. The reason why Trump was elected is the same reason Obama was elected – Americans want change. And while Obama didn’t deliver any change, probably not even to a street beggar, the establishment is afraid that Trump might do so. The problem with “democracy” – at least the American variety is that it produces mediocrity, as evidenced by recent string of American presidents.

Mediocrity is OK when the times are good, but when they are not, they require different approach. That’s where I think dictatorship has qualitative advantages over democracy. I don’t recall any mediocre dictator, most of the time they are extraordinary personalities – which is probably what’s required in order to seize power in the first place.

The downside to this is that dictators are usually involved in some kind of carnage that involves huge human cost, but more to the point, dictatorships almost always bring change – good or bad.

This is where the disconnection in America is. The Americans are so fed up with the bland mediocrity of leadership that never produces any results, that at this point they might even be ready for dictatorship. And besides that, in terms of carnage, the American democracy has produced so much of it, that they are competitive with any dictatorship. So no real advantages there. The only difference is that dictatorships tend to almost always produce carnage domestically and sometimes internationally. The American democracy produces carnage mostly overseas – and that’s why is tolerated domestically.

The point is that one way or another, Americans want change, and if the establishment think that they can steal that promise with the endless intrigues that attempt to bring Trump down, they might end up having a bigger problem than accepting Trump as a president.

The dossier is an over the top joke. It’s not just the golden shower. There’s a numbered paragraph about Trump naming his poops and talking to them (with elaboration).

I recommend to all your readers to check out the site 419eater and read some of the completely silly things they say to Nigerian con men (Nurse Nasty threads are good examples). The issue is NOT that these guys are so crafty, they can con a con man. The issue is that the emails to the Nigerians are OVER THE TOP crazy. Full of the silliest sex and piss and poop. It’s clearly to an extent that anyone with a brain would recognize deception.

Reporters are batshit crazy if they did not see this as a stunt. And I am in SHOCK that Clapper and the IC even entertained these things as open possibilities. This shows ZERO SENSE. How the heck do these guys filter intel if they get taken by 4chan. And not even crafty 4chan. But over the top crazy stuff.

Hillary won the popular vote accept reality.

DC isn’t experiencing an outbreak of medieval Ergotism, or a new epidemic of St. Vitus’ Dance. Brennen, Clapper, Lewis et al are not idiots, nor are they hallucinating. They’re lying of course, but their ability to stare earnestly into a camera and express absurdities with a straight face suggests there may be something rather more sinister afoot.

But of course they can both be true.

I think you’ve hit very close to the mark. Part of what’s going on is Orwellian Doublethink, and it points to even more dangerous developments.

“In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense…. If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable – what then?

The “Russian hacking/interfering” meme is drawing a dividing line across the power centres of Washington. If you can hold two contradictory ideas simultaneously; if you can deny reason and reality with a straight face, you can be an insider. If you can’t, or won’t you’re a Deplorable and, like 1984′s Proles, you don’t, or soon won’t, matter.
A coalition, perhaps a new Party, is forming across Rep-Dem lines, and it’s hell bent on an agenda. Not only the Presidency, the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and Justice are at risk. Reason and even reality itself are under attack; their Will to Power trumps all of them.

America is on a very slippery slope into an abyss. This extraordinary meme continues to gain momentum. If it can prevent the Trump administration ever getting the traction needed to haul it out, the next administration won’t even try.

    What then, indeed.

Russians are like the French. A revolution that gave France airs of being the world's most ideologically advanced, materially dynamic, and (despite being frequently trounced) militarily unbeatable country was followed by a humiliating failure to maintain international status. The Germans saw it as encirclement in preparation to a war of extermination against them by old powers that could not accept their German's rise.

Pakistan is never going to join an alliance that includes India, and nor is Sri Lanka. I'm sure Russia has elite advocates for Eastern and Western orientations, as it did for aggressive expansion before the Russio-Japanese war. East was thought easier, and Russia can CURRENTLY expand economically most easilly by doing energy extraction business with the East. US technology (water-less fracking in Saudi for instance) might make Russian energy unproductive. However the fastest and hence best way to split Russia and China while slowing China's economic growth (the real threat) down, is to force China into an escalating arms race. The Russians will take fright at the Dragon rampant, and join India and Japan in a US led alliance.

    Once America abandoned Christ

I don't know, American born-again so called Christians and other evangelicals, at least very large portion of them, far from "abandoning" Christ also advance fanatically the interests of the state of Israel and of AIPAC. Don't tell them that they "abandoned Christ". Christ (and Israel) are their primary loyalties.

If ‘Israel’ means to you some facist state in the middle east (as opposed to the body of Christians), then I think its pretty fair to say you have abandoned Christ.

Not only Israel is fascist state, it is also an apartheid and a terrorist state supported and aided by the US.

I am surprised that in these accusations of foreign interference in the US elections, no one has brought up the constant interference by Israel through AIPAC. Netanyahu did it openly in 2012 presidential election. AIPAC does it in congressional and statewide elections every two years as well as in the presidential elections. No sanctions are imposed on Israel or any action taken against AIPAC. Instead these gutless lawmakers bow down even more to show their support for Israel. Similarly, the evangelists are more loyal to Israel than they are to Christ.
