Last week, it was Venezuela in America’s gun sights.

“While a peaceful solution is desirable, military action is possible,” thundered Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “If that’s what is required, that’s what the United States will do.”

John Bolton tutored Vladimir Putin on the meaning of the Monroe Doctrine: “This is our hemisphere. It’s not where the Russians ought to be interfering.”

After Venezuela’s army decided not to rise up and overthrow Nicholas Maduro, by Sunday night, it was Iran that was in our gun sights.

Bolton ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln, its carrier battle group and a bomber force to the Mideast “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

What “attack” was Bolton talking about?

According to Axios, Israel had alerted Bolton that an Iranian strike on U.S. interests in Iraq was imminent.

Flying to Finland, Pompeo echoed Bolton’s warning:

“We’ve seen escalatory actions from the Iranians, and … we will hold the Iranians accountable for attacks on American interests. … (If) these actions take place, if they do by some third-party proxy, whether that’s a Shia militia group or the Houthis or Hezbollah, we will hold the … Iranian leadership directly accountable for that.”

Taken together, the Bolton-Pompeo threats add up to an ultimatum that any attack by Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, or Iran-backed militias — on Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or U.S. forces in Iraq, Syria or the Gulf states — will bring a U.S. retaliatory response on Iran itself.

Did President Donald Trump approve of this? For he appears to be going along. He has pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions. Last week, he canceled waivers he had given eight nations to let them continue buying Iranian oil.

Purpose: Reduce Iran’s oil exports, 40% of GDP, to zero, to deepen an economic crisis that is already expected to cut Iran’s GDP this year by 6%.

Trump has also designated Iran a terrorist state and the Republican Guard a terrorist organization, the first time we have done that with the armed forces of a foreign nation. We don’t even do that with North Korea.

Iran responded last Tuesday by naming the U.S. a state sponsor of terror and designating U.S. forces in the Middle East as terrorists.

Iran has also warned that if we choke off its oil exports that exit the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, the Strait could be closed to other nations. As 30% of the world’s oil shipments transit the Strait, closing it could cause a global crash.

In 1973, when President Nixon rescued Israel in the Yom Kippur War, the OPEC Arabs imposed an oil embargo. Gas prices spiked so high Nixon considered taking a train to Florida for Christmas vacation.

The gas price surge so damaged Nixon’s standing with the public that it became a contributing factor in the drive for impeachment.

Today, Trump’s approval rating in the Gallup Poll has reached an all-time high, 46%, a level surely related to the astonishing performance of the U.S. economy following Trump’s tax cuts and sweeping deregulation.

While a Gulf war with Iran might be popular at the outset, what would it do for the U.S. economy or our ability to exit the forever war of the Middle East, as Trump has pledged to do?

In late April, in an interview with Fox News, Iran’s foreign minister identified those he believes truly want a U.S.-Iranian war.

ORDER IT NOW

Asked if Trump was seeking the confrontation and the “regime change” that Bolton championed before becoming his national security adviser, Mohammad Javad Zarif said no. “I do not believe President Trump wants to do that. I believe President Trump ran on a campaign promise of not bringing the United States into another war.

“President Trump himself has said that the U.S. spent $7 trillion in our region … and the only outcome of that was that we have more terror, we have more insecurity, and we have more instability.

“People in our region are making the determination that the presence of the United States is inherently destabilizing. I think President Trump agrees with that.”

But if it is not Trump pushing for confrontation and war with Iran, who is?

Said Zarif, “I believe ‘the B-team’ wants to actually push the United States, lure President Trump, into a confrontation that he doesn’t want.”

And who makes up “the B-team”?

Zarif identifies them: Bolton, Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed.

Should the B-team succeed in its ambitions — it will be Trump’s war, and Trump’s presidency will pay the price.

The source of this misinformation is the usual suspect–Israel. Israel fed the US fake “intelligence” that Iran was planning to attack US interests, as the Judaists want the goyim to attack Iran, do the dirty deeds for it, and die for it.

How about this idea then? Let them have their war, with the condition their kids should go for fighting on the frontline. I wonder if they would be so keen on warmongering if this was a clause.

Where is the Congress of the United States in all this

If that’s Congress, then this is the public:

Moreover, heavy TV viewing has contributed to social fragmentation. Time that used to be spent together in the community is now spent alone in front of the screen. Robert Putnam, the leading scholar of America’s declining sense of community, has found that TV viewing is the central explanation of the decline of “social capital,” the trust that binds communities together. Americans simply trust each other less than they did a generation ago. Of course, many other factors are at work, but television-driven social atomization should not be understated.

Certainly, heavy TV viewing is bad for one’s physical and mental health. Americans lead the world in obesity, with roughly two-thirds of the U.S. population now overweight. Again, many factors underlie this, including a diet of cheap, unhealthy fried foods, but the sedentary time spent in front of the TV is an important influence as well.

Now we have mindless sanctions and aggressive behaviour based on no transgressions whatsoever.

  16. John Bolton; America’s new commander-in-chief!

Wow! The US has a new commander-in-chief: John Bolton, a Netanyahu stooge who gets his orders or the “intelligence reports” from Mossad directly from the Israeli Prime Minister and perhaps also from the Saudi thug, Mohammed bin Salman. I have mentioned it already several times that President Trump is not in charge of Middle Eastern policy anymore. It’s the B-Team that runs the show, as Iran’s foreign minister Zarif called it: “Bolton, Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed.” Trump seems to be manipulated by Ziocon war hawks who are going to lead the US directly into another war for the sole benefit of the racist Zionist and the murderous Saudi regime. How come that the Pentagon takes orders from Bolton? Where is the sane military after James N. Mattis resigned from his job? The US government already carries heavy loads with the genocidal war; the Saudis are waging with the full support of the Trump administration. A war with Iran won’t be a “cakewalk.” President Trump should walk Bolton Spanish before it’s too late.

They set out for war to survive and got the war they were seeking to avoid, resolved there was no choice. The only logical course for Iran now is to restart its nuclear weapons program without delay. Once again N. Korea proves that possession of nuclear weapons is pretty good insurance against a U.S. attack, accords a measure of respect and usually even brings the U.S. to the bargaining table.

Once gas at the pump hits $5.00 or more per gallon Trump can watch his poll numbers tank. In serious terms what could a carrier group and bomber force actually do against Iran? It could touch off an incident sucking us into some form of conflict but a war against Iran would just end up in a drawn-out stalemate. Iran has had many years now to map out its responses to any attack by the US. It’s a country of over eighty million with many times the capability of previous conquests Iraq and Afghanistan, the latter hardly even qualifying as a country. One military defeat suffered by the US would result in some very destabilizing political blowback domestically. Where that would go no one can tell. As the Vietnam war demonstrated the American public won’t accept mounting casualties without a very good explanation of why we’re there and in this case Iran is far away and relatively obscure.
People like Bolton and Pompeo seem to be crackpot fanatics who care nothing about how many people might die as a result of their war incitement. It’s strange that cult-like people have come to the fore in the US government. How are these types even allowed in?

  26. Rurik says:

    this is the public:

    it’s not that bleak

Just 23 percent of the public say they’d support the U.S. deciding to declare war on Iran, while the majority, 53 percent, oppose the idea. Just 9 percent would strongly support declaring war, while 37 percent are strongly opposed.

    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-07-27/americans-overwhelmingly-reject-going-war-iran-new-poll-finds

of those who’re supporting war, exactly zero of them expect to do any actual fighting or dying.

If the poll said ‘would you fight or send your own children to fight a war with Iran?’, the poll numbers would be 100% opposed.

Sending other people’s sons and daughters to die in wars of opportunity is easy for some people, expecially if they see some benefit for themselves. Is the war ‘good for the Jews’? Is all some are asking, or ‘will the war hasten the rapture’?

But if you ask those Jewish supremacists or rapture bunnies (or chickenhawk politicians) if they’d suit up and go fight personally..

Look at the blood and treasure that Russia has expended in keeping Syria’s Assad government in power. All of that would be for naught if they meekly left Iran to defend themselves, especially since Iran provided the boots on the ground to ensure Syria’s victory over ISIS.

And will China stand down as their imports of Iranian oil are completely cut off, thus delivering a mighty blow to their economy?

This is their existential moment. They must not allow this war to happen. I hope that Mr. Putin made this crystal clear our reckless president during their hour long phone call.

With Israeli citizenship Bolton steering this war with Iran, I wonder if the optics are potentially inconvenient. Even the cud-chewing, Americanus Bovinus is aware of Bibi’s psychotic, frothing lies about the (nonexistent) Iran threat. And everyone is aware of Bolton’s slavish, treasonous fealty to Israel.

At what point are even the most obtuse Americans forced to connect the obvious dots, (by now a hard line), between Israeli treachery, the Jewish media, and corrupt American politicians betraying America on behalf of Israel?

Yes, of course Ilhan Omar would like to see me and everyone who looks like me castrated, but if it takes electing someone like her to high office, in order to stave off the cowards and treasonous scum (from both parties) who serve Israel first, (and second and third..), then perhaps that is what we have to do.

Perhaps just 23% of the public supports a war at present. But that’s what false flags are created for. After 9/11, GWB had nearly 100% support when he invaded Afghanistan, following that up with the false flag invasion of Iraq, as ‘intelligence’ reported that Saddam was developing WMDs, (which, of course, were never found). History shows that the ‘normies’ can be fooled into war again and again by the merchants of death – as long as their own sons and daughters are not being drafted. Sure a minority will rebel, but the press won’t cover it, and their social media accounts will be shut off – all in the name of National Security.

I don’t mean to quibble, but sicko Bolton is not the director of the NSA – the National Security Agency. Bolton is Trump’s National Security Advisor. He’s supposed to be the president’s personal advisor, but is not in charge of any agency, and does not have to undergo Senate confirmation.

That said, Buchanan knows damn well that Bolton cannot order US troops to go anywhere without the president’s authorization. I’m surprised he said that in paragraph 5. If there is to be a war it is ALL on Trump – he’s the elected Commander-in-Chief. He’s the man who stupidly appointed Bolton and Pompeo. If he wants to sell it to the American people, he must address the public on national TV and explain why we must have yet another war for Israel. Good luck with that – NOT!

You’re right about all of that of course.

But perhaps.. just perhaps the American people are getting jaded.

How many times have we all heard the solemn, ‘authoritative’ invoking of “All sixteen intelligence agencies all agree..’

    ‘Saddam has WMD…

    ‘Russian collusion in the election..

    ‘Putin shot down the plane’

    ‘Putin invaded Ukraine..’

    Iran sank the aircraft carrier’…

when it always turns out to be lies.

The American people are apathetic and cowed, but there’s still a lingering humanity in them. They don’t want to see any more of their young people ground up in Eternal Wars for Israel.

And as it becomes increasingly OBVIOUS that all of these wars are based on official lies, and all of them are intended to bolster Israel, (and to a much lesser degree the Saudis) at everyone else’s expense, perhaps they’re beginning to jostle from their government/media imposed mind-slumber.

The American people are like the British Brexiteers, or the French Yellow Vesters, we’re sick of our ruling elites treating our young people as cannon fodder and Janissaries, to go off and kill or die for a regime thousands of miles away who hate our guts anyways.

If the “Christian” Zionists want to go fight and die for Israel, then please, by all means.. GO!

I’ll chip in to pay for your tickets!

If the Jewish supremacists want to go fight, I’ll drive them to the airport. Ditto our chickenhawk politicians and whorenalists. They have all my blessings to go fight the Iranian Republican Guard and the battle-hardened Russians.

But instead, what we’ll see is our treasonous scum at the ‘intelligence agencies’ and Pentagon and White House (all acting on orders from Bibi and co.) will sacrifice an aircraft carrier full of young American men and women from the heartland, in order to create the pretext for war against Iran (and Russia and China and half of Europe and Asia and the rest of the world, who’re deathly pissed off over the Eternal Wars for Israel. As am I ; ).

It will be a small cabal of another ‘coalition of the willing’ (bribed and bullied) nations like England and France and a very recalcitrant Germany / vs. every single person of good will and decency on the planet.

The ((regime)) was just repudiated in Venezuela.

Do they imagine that a false flag is all it will take to rally Americans (and Brits and French, etc..) to fight yet another war, based on treacherous lies, by the same lying scum who’ve driven the planet to the brink with their endless demands for more and more wars?

    I hope not.

  49. While the Gallup owners likely appreciated their bigly tax cut, the US economy is not good for most US citizens, including the 95 million working-aged US citizens out of the labor force, the seven million US citizens counted as employed only due to recent UC applications and many of the half of all employed persons in America who only work part time.

Rent costs are skyrocketing, pricing more and more citizens out of independent household formation, and Americans cannot even afford to sustain car loans anymore, as reflected in the many horrible consumer debt numbers, car sales, etc.

That is the biggest reason why Republicans lost in the midterms: Many of the people who voted for Trump link the continuance of a bad economy with the mass-scale immigration that has increased under Trump—the legal kind, anyway.

I didn’t know about the connection between the spike in oil prices and Nixon’s fall from Grace. You always learn something from Pat’s articles. It makes sense.

Trump should have kept Rex. Rex might have been a globalist on immigration, but he was professional. Immigration is not connected that much with the State Department, anyway. Rex knew a lot about the way the oil business works. America does not have the luxury of alienating oil-rich countries. The shale-oil miracle has apparently stopped yielding easy-access results.

  50. KenH says:

So we’re told that Trump’s approval rating has hit 46% in a new Gallup poll. It seems the more Trump veers from America first to “invade the world, invite the world” neocohen his that poll numbers mysteriously rise. This will give Trump a false sense of security heading into the 2020 election season.

I don’t see how he can win re-election by becoming Marco Rubio.

He entered the white house wildly popular with the crowds and will likely leave in total disgrace with an approval rating below 30 percent at the end of a second term as nothing he promised beyond tax cuts for the ultra rich(Who don’t pay any taxes anyway) and under the table deals was carried out.

On an unrelated note, election season started in Denmark this week and the entire thing looks to be set around the topics of immigration and retirement age. Guess the nearly a year long SNAFU in France has the government worried the same thing could happen here.

War with Iran would not be “cake walk”(no doubt) unless, of course, we unleash our “nukes”.

We might not (nor ever) unleash our “Big Bertha” nukes, ….

But (let’s say) after a second “USS Liberty event” is staged, this time on our venerable “USS Abraham Lincoln” and (of course) blamed on Iran… Pompeo may well have the needed casus belli to “take the gloves off” and unleash our newfangled “mini nukes” on the entire Iranian population.

    Devastating…..to be sure.

The essential “raison d’etre” of war with Iran, Is that it would empower Israel with the needed pretext to complete its annihilation of Palestine.

Once the Iran war is underway,King Bibi can simply claim that every Palestinian alive is a “proxy fighter for the Evil Ayatollah” ..All Palestinians can now be exterminated on sight (as a matter of security) …..or rounded up and placed in Israels massive detention centers…slated for (permanent) deportation.

This would be the final chapter of the Greater Israel Project …..coming to fruition.

The Holocaust of Palestine would (at long last) be complete.

The price of oil may well quintuple from its current levels….reaching close to $15.00 per gallon…maybe more.

The greatest beneficiaries of this are:

    1) Saudi Arabia, (of course) whose production costs would remain the same while their profit margins skyrocket.

2)Every wall street trader (in the know), who is “long” future oil contracts.

    3) Every major refinery and oil company in the USA.

Will it (in fact ) go down this way ?….I don’t know…but it sure could…any day now, too…

    We will see.

I wonder whether Iran has secretly purchased several nuclear war heads and prepped them to its current missile systems….Once it has been nuked…would it nuke Israel, in response ?

I don’ t know….but it’s possible the Iran war might lead to the obliteration of 7 million Israelis..

Who really knows (after all) who has what,….up their sleeves ?

  69. Alexander, your use of nukes in the Mideast scenario sounds as well considered as anything coming from the mouths of Netanyahu and Trump (their big mouths are their minds.)

The world is becoming lonelier for the President. He’s proven himself completely incapable of negotiating anything at all (especially anything multi-lateral), his idea of an “agreement” being simply some one else’s unconditional surrender. It’s amazing to have pissed off so many and to have achieved so little.

The problem is, no one is laying down and surrendering to him. In fact, they’re just beginning to actually push back a tad (although it’s still very early on in that process.)

He’s all alone in the world with a single ally – Israel (a similarly “popular”, but demographic midget) – to cheer on his global delusions and help him rule the seas with their mighty navy and fight on many fronts with their vast land army.

It’s often better not to stick your fingers up the nostrils of others unless it’s absolutely necessary. Gratuitous ass-hole-ism often leaves one without company when it is most needed.

Why do people continue to believe this? You are intelligent, educated people. Trump has adopted Zionism as his ideology. He hires the people he wants to hire and is running things the way he wants to run things.

NYC/Palm Beach Jewish community accepted him, while the WASP community treated him like a tacky bounder. (No idea why. They must have been nuts.) He’s worked with right wing Jews and socialized with them his entire adult life. He married his beloved daughter into one of the most powerful Zionist families in the world. While it’s true that you can’t control what your daughter does, or whom she sleeps with, you don’t usually put her man in charge of the family business if you don’t at least highly respect him.

These men are Iran’s four worst enemies.

Alternatively, he was a clever salesman who surprised everyone by winning (including himself), and whatever he did or didn’t believe, he was likely blackmailed back into line. I remember the teams of MSM journalists busy digging dirt on him after the election.

Also, with hindsight, it was clear before the election, that he was ready to sacrifice the interests of the US for his own gain. He’s a high rise developer from New York, and knows better than anyone that the WTC towers didn’t fall due to jet fuel fires (mostly gone out). His initial reaction was the correct one (explosives), but he quickly got back in line to avoid trouble.

Either way, the US is only living with a democratic facade, and is in reality a Jewish run dictatorship – with 100% Jewish control of Congress and the MSM – and with a social policy, economy, foreign policy etc. formulated by Jews for their own gain and for Israel.

Chevron (or similar) would get the oil for less and then sell it at the higher market rate. Venezuelans would get less and the US taxpayer would foot the bill for the military/security aspect of the exercise. Since there would be a worldwide shortage as well as higher prices, having access to the oil would alleviate that problem in the US.

Just the way king doesn’t kill, dictator doesn’t pull the trigger or the knife or pull the rope around the neck, but his employee does ,so is the paymaster doesn’t but his paid charlatan liars like Bolton Pompeo and Trump do.

The real reason of ongoing harrague against Trump by CNN and MSNBC and from NYT,WaPo lies here. Make his life miserable by lying . He can escape only by doing the deeper more authentic and genuinely desired things by CNN MSNBC WaPo etc . That is carry the Zio dream to fruition. But the ruse will be obvious . So they will continue to portray him in bad light but make sure it doesn’t hurt him in election by allowing only ‘ electable Democrats ‘ as possible contenders.

These possible contenders will be vetted and hindered and chosen only if they don’t talk of Antiwar ,anti nepotistic corporation ,anti globalism and agree that criticizing Israel is anti semitism ( preventing candidate to criticize )

So Trump gets elected . Zio media will say they could have endorseed Trump behavior on Iran because they have been so much against him to begin with . Trump gets some mud stuck on his face . But he gets to keep his job.

Liars with money to be made and justice to avoid are forgetful and given to circumlocution. Gaza might have been not ruled by Zio . Nothing goes in and nothing comes out because the Zio put US supported embargo and sanctions and chains around it.

Trump seemingly has no control over members of his own government.

“Why do people continue to believe this?”

This absurdity is being relentlessly pushed by the senile sage, Paul Craig Roberts, by Eric Margolis (who wonders aloud things like: “why does Trump let his two horsemen of the apocalypse get away with this?”) and many others.

I’ve come to believe that some of the proponents of this absurdity simply cannot admit that they were fooled by a con man, while others disingenuously seek to convince the electorate of the futility of voting (especially anti-war voters); and their message is: “see, it doesn’t matter who’s president, even someone as obviously well-intentioned as Donald Trump is powerless to change the course of U.S. ‘foreign policy’” or something like that.
