After posting Friday’s column, “A Presidency from Hell,” about the investigations a President Hillary Clinton would face, by afternoon it was clear I had understated the gravity of the situation.

Networks exploded with news that FBI Director James Comey had informed Congress he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s email scandal, which he had said in July had been concluded.

“Bombshell” declared Carl Bernstein. The stock market tumbled. “October surprise!” came the cry.

The only explanation, it seemed, was that the FBI had uncovered new information that could lead to a possible indictment of the former secretary of state, who by then could be the president of the United States.

By Sunday, we knew the source of the eruption.

Huma Abedin, Clinton’s top aide, sent thousands of emails to the private laptop she shared with husband Anthony Weiner, a.k.a. Carlos Danger, who is under FBI investigation for allegedly sexting with a 15-year-old girl.

The Weiner-Abedin laptop contains 650,000 emails.

The FBI has not yet reviewed Abedin’s emails, and they could turn out to be duplicates of those the FBI has already seen, benign, or not relevant to the investigation of Clinton.

But it does appear that Abedin misled the FBI when she told them all communications devices containing State Department work product were turned over to State when she departed in 2013.

Clinton, understandably, was stunned and outraged by Comey’s letter. For it casts a cloud of suspicion over her candidacy by raising the possibility that the FBI director could reverse his decision of July, and recommend her prosecution.

By Monday, Oct. 31, new problems had arisen, some potentially crippling or possibly lethal to a Clinton presidency.

Reporters have unearthed a near-mutiny inside the FBI over the decision to shut down the investigation of the Clinton email scandal and Comey’s recommendation of no prosecution.

Andrew McCabe, No. 2 at the FBI, has come under anonymous fire from inside the bureau as one of those most reluctant to pursue aggressively any investigations of the Clintons.

McCabe’s wife, in a 2015 state senate race in Virginia, received $475,000 in PAC contributions from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime friend and major fundraiser for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

After the Senate race that McCabe’s wife lost, he was promoted from No. 3 at the FBI to No. 2, where he has far more influence over decisions to investigate and recommend prosecution.

Justice Department higher-ups under Attorney General Loretta Lynch apparently disagreed with Comey notifying Congress, and the nation, to new developments in the email scandal. Yet Comey had given his word to Congress that he would do so.

In the Southern District of New York, which has jurisdiction over the Weiner sexting investigation, FBI agents have reportedly been blocked from opening an investigation into charges of corruption in the Clinton Foundation.

This follows revelations that corporate chiefs and foreign rulers and regimes, hit up for contributions to the Clinton Foundation, were then urged by an ex-Clinton aide to provide six-figure speaking fees for Bill Clinton.

This follows reports the Clinton Foundation took contributions for victims of natural disasters, and awarded multimillion-dollar contracts to contributors to do the work.

Still unanswered is what Bill Clinton and Attorney General Lynch discussed during that 30-minute meeting on the Phoenix tarmac, prior to the FBI and Justice Department decision not to indict Hillary Clinton.

The stench of corruption is reaching Bhopal dimensions.

What appears about to happen seems inevitable and predictable.

If Hillary Clinton is elected, the email scandal, the pay-for-play scandal involving the Clinton Foundation, “Bill Clinton, Inc.,” the truthfulness of her testimony, and reports of Clinton-paid dirty tricksters engaging in brownshirt tactics at Trump rallies, are all going to be investigated more thoroughly by the FBI.

And if Clinton is president, there is no way her Justice Department can investigate the Clinton scandals, any more than this city in the early 1970s would entrust an investigation into Watergate to the Nixon Justice Department.

If Clinton wins this election, and Republicans hold onto one or both houses of Congress, investigations of the Clinton scandals will start soon after her inaugural and will go on for years. And the clamor for a special prosecutor, who will, as Archibald Cox did with Nixon, build a huge staff and spend years investigating, will become irresistible.

Realizing that this is the near-certain fate and future of any Hillary Clinton presidency, and would be disastrous for the country, Sunday night, Doug Schoen, who worked for President Clinton for six years, said he has changed his mind and will not be voting for Hillary.

Donald Trump says this is worse than Watergate. As of now, it is only potentially so.

But if Hillary Clinton, this distrusted and disbelieved woman, does take the oath of office on Jan. 20, there is a real possibility that, like Nixon, down the road a year or two, she could be forced from office.

Do we really want to go through this again?

Absent some clear evidence Andrew McCabe tried to scuttle any FBI investigation I would lay off him. Going after Hillary Clinton was probably above his pay grade even if he was the number 2 or 3 guy at the FBI. The real problem is the DoJ under Obama has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrats and that is why Hillarygate is even more toxic than Watergate.

This will involve not one Administration but potentially three. Bill Clinton’s, who installed Eric Holder at Justice, Obama’s who put him back as the AG and a putative Rodham Administration. The rot is that deep and long lasting.

  4. This is an excellent column stating facts needed to be clearly stated. Too bad Mr. Buchanan’s views are not given more credence by the lamestream establishment. It is obvious to any sentient person looking at the evidence that the major reason for the secret email servers was to facilitate the pay for play corruption emanating from the US foreign office under Clinton. In light of Weiner’s record and suspicions involving the harpy’s relationship with whom some suspect is her real main squeeze, there may be significant bombs hidden on Huma’s server. One can suspect that all of the emails cleaned up by the erasing software may still be there on Weiner’s servers, since the Harpy sometimes seems amateurish about her corruption if she thinks she is invulnerable. If she gets in, we can already see how the “official” investigation will go, since Podesta’s lawyer is the man designated by the US justice department to run the investigation. The stench of corruption is unprecedented, as is the level of war crimes which the harpy committed spearheading the Libyan overthrow. Her demands for challenging Russia in Syria in support of the el qaeda thugs armed from her Libyan enterprise is probably the biggest threat to the survival of civilization ever posed by the yankee imperium. One has to wonder if, as Mr. Buchanan predicts, the Clintons are under the gun of another special prosecutor, they will opt for the national suicide of engaging in a nuclear war.

  5. MEexpert says:

Fifty years ago, as a new immigrant, all I heard from different circles was how corrupt the politicians from the sub-continent, middle east, and African countries were. Every one in this country, including the politicians and the news media was lecturing the politicians in those countries to clean up their act. Today 99.99 percent of the politicians including the President of the United States and the news media in the United States is as corrupt as any politician anywhere in those so called backward countries. They used to bemoan about the crooked elections in those countries. Today every other country is laughing at the election in the United States as corrupt and a joke.

In today’s America the executive branch, the congress, the diplomats, the military, and the journalists all lie. They all lie because they take special interest money from crooked countries, such as Israel and Saudi Arabia, crooked businessmen, such as Saban and Adelson, and crooked corporations, such as Boeing, Lockheed, and Raytheon. When this crookedness reaches the military and the judicial branch, as is currently the case, God help the United States.

If the President of the United States and the Democratic Party have any integrity left, they would force Hillary Clinton to withdraw and save some face in the world opinion. If they do not, the image of the US will be permanently damaged.

  6. Breitbart has already reported Comey’s numerous conflicts of interests with the Clintons: Don’t think for a minute Comey is clean. He is thinking about keeping his butt out of prison if Trump wins and the investigations start with a special prosecutor. Was reported a couple of weeks ago the Clintons transferred $1.8 billion from the Clinton foundation to a bank in Qatar. Looks like someone is going to split and soon.

  7. I would imagine most folks do not recall Hillary worked as an attorney for the Senate Watergate Committee that investigated Nixon. How ironic in so many ways.

  13. Eureka!–here:

Surely there is more to follow, but this gets the ball rolling and is probably sufficient. It is possible that the FBI is: (1) covering their backside, or (2) working to steal the show and also distract from what they must know wikileaks had or probably had.

These are not mutually exclusive possibilities.

Note also how assiduously the MSM is burying the above or mostly not mentioning it at all, hiding under phrases like, “Nothing directly on Clinton yet.”

Bodies subject to conspriacy charges are lining up at Señora Clinton’s office door by now. Phones and email, etc.–under surveillance, are they? No doubt all sacrifices will be welcome but probably not enough.

Thus also is explained US pressure on Ecuador to disconnect Assange, perhaps in ways more far-ranging than simply from the internet. On verra. Correa, strangely, talked about his long acquaintance with Señora Clinton.

This is bigger than Watergate. Nixon didn’t compromise classified data and repeatedly lie about it. Watergate looks pretty mild compared to this and Obama’s scandals while in office.

No Pat, she won’t be forced from office by cowardly Republicans like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. They didn’t force the first black president from office in disgrace and neither will they force the first female president from office.

At most we’ll get some huffing and puffing for the cameras and maybe a few hearings, but at the end of the day she will get to take her wrecking ball to what’s left of the Constitution and what little national cohesion remains after eight years of Hussein Obama.

I would imagine most folks do not recall Hillary worked as an attorney for the Senate Watergate Committee that investigated Nixon. How ironic in so many ways.

Not only that, but most folks have no idea that Hillary was relieved of her duties on that committee and was refused letters of recommendation.

She was caught doing dishonest work that would have resulted in disbarment for any lawyer on the outside. She withheld and actually hid files. She wrote a dishonest brief that made an argument that only worked if said files did not exist.

Hiding evidence is an old Hillary trick.

The same computerized voting machines that will steal the WH for Hillary will allow the Dems to keep the Senate, maybe even gaining a seat or two and to take back the House.

That way, there won’t be any Repubs in charge of any Congressional committees that might get ‘uppity and investigate the foul deeds, lies, corruptions, thieving and treason by the Clinton Mob.

Of course Comey claimed this before he’d secured a warrant to review material not pertinent to the case against Weiner: he would get crucified else! All that can be said said pre-warrant is that ‘metadata’ indicates a lot of emails from the HRH server and such emails almost certainly do not belong on a laptop controlled by a person without a security clearance!

Therefore, alas, they simply have to ‘reopen’ the investigation to make damn sure that none of those emails contain classified information.

But actually, did they had a damn good look at those emails already and find one or more smoking guns? Of course they did! James Comey is no fool and not suicidal: Hillary is also no fool and she knows this.

And now they have a warrant – the other shoe will drop any day and probably before the election.

The Brits delayed public acknowledgement of their Parliamentarian and High Official child sex predator scandal until all the revealed miscreants were dead. America’s pedophiles and pederasts won’t be so lucky.

We know one Clinton went to Epstein Island aboard the Lolita Express.

Rumors are flying that Weiner’s faptop had smoking guns proving BOTH Clintons rode the Lolita Express, and those same rumors suggest that numerous copies of Weiner’s data are now floating around beyond the reach of Damage Control. When 650,000 emails can fit on a microSD card, nothing will prevent them from release.

Our ruling political elite (from Denny Hastert on the R and Barney (fag) Frank on the D on down) have considered themselves untouchable for so long that no imagination is necessary to believe the Clintons would BOTH engage in such taboo behavior. History proves that Bill Clinton thrives on such thrills. Can his wife be different?

If Clinton wins (or “wins”) the election, if such rumors are even half-true it will result in a crisis more politically earth-shaking than anything since Fort Sumter.

  36. If she wins and investigations commence, it won’t just be bitter and embarrassing; it might get extremely bloody and very dangerous. Because her response will likely involve non-stop wars (rally ’round the flag! can’t question commander in chief in war time!), Russian agents under everyone’s bed, and so on…

  37. DaveE says:

The Abedin- Weiner relationship seems to be modeled exactly on the Bill – Hillary arrangement.

Butch lesbian married to sex-addicted husband for political cover, so both could go about their merry perverse ways unnoticed.

Old joke in DC: Q.) How did Bill and Hillary first meet? A.) They were both dating the same girl.
