Because human distress is involved, Europe’s current “refugee” crisis lends itself to Oprahfication—known to British listeners as Dianafication— in which rational policy is swept away by a hot syrupy tsunami of collective emoting.

Thus the crowds you’ve been seeing in news pictures the past few days, in Greece, Macedonia, and Hungary, almost all come via Turkey. And Turkey is a peaceful, stable, modern country, and has been accommodating to the refugees, settling two million of them in camps.

Indeed, a common point of departure for the boats heading to Greece is Bodrum, on the coast of Western Turkey. I was in Bodrum four years ago. I wrote at the time that the most dangerous thing about the town was teenagers riding motor scooters at high speed with one hand while talking into their smartphones.

Bodrum’s a nice place; just…not as nice as Germany, Sweden, or Britain.

Click to enlarge Or Canada, which Abdullah Kurdi was hoping to reach when he left Bodrum Tuesday night with his wife and two kids on a small rubber dinghy headed for the Greek islands. [Aylan’s story: How desperation left a 3-year-old boy washed up on a Turkish beach, By Justin Wm. Moyer, Washington Post, September 3, 2015 ]

Here we get to the mass hysteria, the Oprahfication.

Mr. Kurdi’s boat sank; the wife and children drowned; the body of one child, Aylan Kurdi, 3, was washed up on a Turkish beach; the Western media frontpaged a photograph of the little corpse.

We are now, as I speak, in the midst of a public frenzy of emoting about the event, with celebrities weeping on camera and politicians vying to accuse each other, and sometimes also their voters and even themselves, of responsibility for the child’s death. You did it! We all did it! Guilty, guilty, we are all guilty! Ayeee!

David Cameron, Britain’s weak and shallow Prime Minister, has actually changed his nation’s asylum policies in response to all the keening and sobbing.

Yet Mr. Kurdi, the child’s father, had been living in Turkey for a year. He looks clean, healthy, and well-fed. So do his wife and kids in the pre-embarkation photographs.

It’s true that he’s a Kurd, and that Turkey’s government does not celebrate Kurdishness in the full multicultural spirit, having their own long-running Kurdish problem; but if that was intolerable to Mr. Kurdi, he could have gone as a refugee to Iraqi Kurdistan, a de facto independent country that is hosting ten thousand Syrian Kurdish refugees.

He had options. Staying in Turkey just wasn’t the best option.

You can imagine cases of genuine refugees. The swarms heading for Europe likely include some genuine refugees among the economic migrants, criminals and terrorists. But as Ann Coulter writes in her splendid book ¡Adíos America!:

The biggest scams in immigration law are the humanitarian cases. One hundred percent of refugee and asylum claims are either obvious frauds or frauds that haven’t been proved yet. The only result of our asylum policies is that we get good liars.

How did we get here? The first thing to be said about the current crisis is that it was perfectly predictable. Not only was it predictable, it was predicted: by French author Jean Raspail in his 1973 novel The Camp of the Saints.

Not only was this situation predictable, it was preventable. In connection to which, permit me to quote from a famous speech by British immigration patriot Enoch Powell back in 1968 — five years before Camp of the Saints was first published. Quote from Powell:

The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils. In seeking to do so, it encounters obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature.

One is that by the very order of things such evils are not demonstrable until they have occurred: at each stage in their onset there is room for doubt and for dispute whether they be real or imaginary. By the same token, they attract little attention in comparison with current troubles, which are both indisputable and pressing: whence the besetting temptation of all politics to concern itself with the immediate present at the expense of the future.

Powell went on to warn his fellow-countrymen against mass immigration from poor countries of the former British Empire. For this he was denounced as a racist and excluded from government positions.

Powell was of course right. As I noted last week, a big pull factor for these incoming hordes is the settled communities of fellow-countrymen and co-religionists in the West.

To judge from interviews with migrants, some sizable proportion seem to be from Pakistan, headed for Britain. There’s no war in Pakistan, but there is a huge Pakistani community well-established in Britain. If Enoch Powell’s advice had been heeded this would not be the case, and that pull factor wouldn’t be present.

If Enoch Powell was right that “The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils,” then what we are seeing in Europe is a massive failure of statesmanship.

But given the knowledge seeping out, against the best efforts of the official media, about things like Muslim rape culture in Britain and Sweden—you might think that people in the First World would be looking to their defenses and tightening up their settlement policies.

Well, some people are. Resistance to Open Borders is rising all over Europe, and condensing out into political parties like the Front National in France, the AfD in Germany, Geert Wilders’ Party For Freedom in Holland, and others.

The way human nature works, though, some other people are just doubling down on their ethnomasochism. The most sensational case in the present crisis has been Iceland.

Iceland’s official cap on annual settlement of refugees is fifty. Fifty a year. You might think that’s stingy, but bear in mind that Iceland’s entire population is only 300,000. Fifty people is to Iceland what fifty thousand would be to the U.S.A.

Well, someone named Bryndis Bjorgvinsdottir, described by the Guardian as an “author and professor,” put out a call on Facebook last Sunday asking for Icelanders to sign an open letter to Iceland’s government urging more help for Syrian refugees. Said the letter:

Refugees are our future spouses, best friends, or soulmates, the drummer for the band of our children, our next colleague, Miss Iceland in 2022, the carpenter who finally finished the bathroom, the cook in the cafeteria, the fireman, the computer genius, or the television host.[Icelanders call on government to take in more Syrian refugees,By Jessica Elgot, September 1, 2015 ]

More than 12,000 Icelanders have signed the letter. That’s five percent of the adult population. Many of the responders—I can’t find a reliable number for how many—offered to take Syrian refugees into their own homes.

Brissoklippt Boy, you can’t beat the Scandinavians for ethnomasochism. I guess it gets really boring up there in Iceland, just looking at blonde, blue-eyed people all the time (like Bryndis herself, pictured right) never having anyone decapitate one of your soldiers in the street or let off a bomb on a bus.

The Germans are almost as bad. I’m looking at a German website called Flüchtlinge Willkommen, that’s “Refugees Welcome.” Quote from the home page:

Warum können geflüchtete Menschen in Deutschland nicht einfach in WGs wohnen statt in Massenunterkünften?

Translation: “Why shouldn’t refugees in Germany just be able to live in shared apartments instead of mass accommodation?” The website goes on to urge Germans to open their apartments to refugees.

We’re not immune, either. Our own homegrown ethnomasochist Glenn Beck picked up the Iceland story and enthused about it on his radio show. Quote:

Out of a country of 300,000 people, 10,000 people in 24 hours said, “I’ll offer up my home. I’ll offer up my money.” I’m asking you to do the same thing today … What people will take one person? Will you offer up your home?

Talk about ethnomasochism! Beck deserves a Darwin Award for eagerness to remove himself from the gene pool.

ORDER IT NOW

People are signing up, though. I await the first news stories about rapes and murders. Oh wait, it’s already happened—with boat people, anyway, if not precisely Syrian refugees. Daily Telegraph, August 31st, headline: Murder of elderly couple in Sicily fuels Italy’s growing anti-immigrant sentiment. Story, quote:

Mamadou Kamara, an 18-year-old from the Ivory Coast, allegedly slit the throat of Vincenzo Solano, 68, and then attacked his Spanish-born wife, Mercedes Ibanez, 70.

Ms. Ibanez fell to her death from a second-floor balcony, during a robbery that turned violent.

Mr. Kamara is one of thousands of migrants and refugees living at a vast reception centre at nearby Mineo, in south-eastern Sicily.

I guess Signor Solano and his wife, him with his throat slit and she with her neck broken, weren’t as photogenic as the little drowned Syrian child.

They are just as dead, though.

Oh come on. The current mess was caused by globalist Jewish foreign policy emanating mostly from Washington DC.

As I recall, Syria was one of the more stable nations in the region. So, why did it fall apart? Because of meddling by Zionist-led Western powers. And who messed up Libya?

While it’s wrong for masses of refugees in the Middle East to invade Europe, isn’t it all true that the West should not be invading and meddling in Middle Eastern nations?

Also, why have Europeans have become such cucks? It was because a certain people messed with their minds.
In other words, for Europe to be physically conquered, it first had to be psychologically conquered. It was because Europeans are now without psychological defenses that they do use their considerable means to fend off the invasion.
But then, they didn’t have the will power to stand up against Zionist foreign policy messing up the Middle East.

Europe has been psychologically invaded by Jewish Semites and that is why it is being physically invaded by Arab Semites(and Negroes from Africa). The European mind has been reprogrammed and cucked.

So, how about not merely invoking CAMP OF SAINTS but INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Europeans have been turned into pod people. There is only the ideology of consensus. Those who refuse to go along are hunted down by the EU.

Jews invaded the mind, now the Arabs are invading the body.

Translation: “Why shouldn’t refugees in Germany just be able to live in shared apartments instead of mass accommodation?” The website goes on to urge Germans to open their apartments to refugees.

When Germans came together as a nation around shared cultural values of German-ness and passed legislation that studied and attempted to achieve equity for groups who shared those values, and migration to another place for the floods of Eastern European immigrants who did not share those values, Germany was labelled “antisemitic” and was destroyed.

Germany was so thoroughly destroyed, physically, culturally and spiritually, that several years ago the head of the Goethe Institute, introducing British moral philosopher A C Grayling to discuss the firebombing of Germany, said, “We Germans can never get over our shame and have no right to talk about our suffering.”

2 million German women have “no right” to talk about having been raped by Russian as well as American troops.

600,000 German civilians incinerated in Allied firebombing of Germany have “no right” to demand accountability of those who committed those crimes against them.

In the multi-year course of a brutal occupation and brainwashing to convince the German people that they were not the victims but the criminals, the people that Max Warburg called “proud and virile” were reduced to passive, pliant patsies of the world’s pariah state and its bully-enabler.

The people who brought about the destruction of Germany and the ethnocide of the German people 70+ years ago are the very same people who are destroying Syria, having earlier destroyed Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.
Those destructive acts are the forces causing the turmoil that eventuates in mass migration from those shattered nations, formerly-sovereign homelands that Israel and the United States fucked up, deliberately, so that 7 million Jews could “control their own destiny in their own country,” as Jeremy Ben Ami said in 2011:

The need for homelands for two people living side by side in peace and security is not an aspiration, a dream, it is an absolute existential necessity to those of us who care about the future of Israel …

[If Israel fails to implement a two-state solution]

. . . it will become a one-state nation in which the Jews and the Palestinians live together as equal citizens
and over time the Jews, as a minority, will no longer be in control of their own destiny in their own country because the Palestinians will one way or another have a homeland and that homeland will either be the entirety of the land of Israel
or it will be a separate state with
    a
    border and
    a fence and
    a wall and
    security arrangements and
    a demilitarization and
it will live next door to Israel in peace and security.http://www.c-span.org/video/?301263-1/book-discussion-new-voice-israel

The same people are working feverishly to destroy Iran, physically, culturally and ethnically.
While the world’s gaze is fixed in horror on a toddler’s body washed ashore, as Jim Lobe has been reporting, the Israel Lobby and the traitor-Israel agent Dennis Ross have been working tirelessly to bastardize the JCPOA and turn it into an effective declaration of war against Iran.

The Jewish-dominated media keep showing us the image of the dead Syrian boy washed up ashore.

If any group of people deserve blame for the fiasco, it is the Jewish globalists who fomented all these wars in the Middle East. Jews led the way in deposing Gaddafi and targeted Assad for destruction. Jews also messed up Ukraine.

But Jews figure offense is the best defense. So, before anyone might accuse Jews of anything, they go on the offensive and change the Narrative to ‘heartless Europeans aren’t doing enough to save the poor poor helpless refugees’. It’d be like Germany invading Poland and then complaining that other nations are not doing enough for Polish refugees. It is so despicable.

A big deal has been made of the dead boy on the shore.

I wonder why the media didn’t make a similar fuss about this image of a Palestinian boy.

Jews have become wretched. They messed up Ukraine but blame Putin as the aggressor.
They messed up Iraq, Libya, and Syria but make Europeans out to be uncaring people who won’t do something.

It’s like someone beating someone up and then accusing a bystander for not doing enough to take care of the victim.

I understand that unz.com aims to deliver a variety of opinions, but I expect that authors have to have a basic modicum of understanding of a subject before they sit in front of the keyboard and start delivering their “wisdom” to the World.

This character does not have a faintest idea how the Kurds are treated in Turkey, but he is still prepared to feverishly type on a keyboard and produce this kind of tosh: “And Turkey is a peaceful, stable, modern country, and has been accommodating to the refugees, settling two million of them in camps.” I stopped reading after this second paragraph.

I have been to Turkey last time about 3 years ago, and I have seen none of the “peaceful, stable, modern”. Also, reliable media reports describe the conditions in the refugee camps in Turkey as utterly unbearable.

Conservativism and stupidity are two different things.

  12. Zach says:

Turkey IS a relatively peaceful and stable country now. It’s not Syria, Iraq, or Iran and is even now a candidate for EU membership. Kurds were treated badly in the 1990s, especially in the east, but Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, etc has plenty of Kurds living comfortably. The HDP is a viable Kurdish party, challenging the AKP. To address briefly this other character Reg below. These people who were saved from Khadafi are now coming back to the countries which were dropping the humanitarian bombs to tell them a big “thank you”. Unfortunately, characters such as you are confusing them for refugees.

Seriously, the countries which “humanitarianly” bombed Iraq, Libya and Syria should pay for these refugees: US & Israel, Canada, UK, France and Italy. Except that Israel is a maintained country, living off its US sugar-daddy and it would not pay a shekel for the terrible mess it creates.

  24. This is slightly off-topic, although related. The same broadcast of Radio Derb mentioned that Queen Elizabeth II will become the UK’s longest reigning monarch this week, surpassing Queen Victoria. I used to think that Elizabeth had been at least a reasonably good queen. But now I wonder. Do monarchs have any “spiritual kinship” with their people that should make them resist their dispossession and displacement, even if that displacement and dispossession are the result of a constitutional mechanism? Restated, should Elizabeth have taken a position similar to that of Enoch Powell and called on the native population to resist what its government was doing (by extra-constitutional means), even at the risk of losing her throne? I don’t think that the Windsors have that kind of spirit in them, but I have little doubt what a monarch in the mold of Henry II would have done. I fear that for all of the praises being sung for Elizabeth, she may be remembered as the Aethelred the Unready of the 20th Century.

“They were escaping safety and poverty for the danger of the sea and promise of more generous benefits than Turkey was offering.”

  40. Pat Casey says:

Back before the homes of American households had each denizen their own TV, small boys had to watch what mom wanted to watch when they got home from school. Between the ages of about five and nine, I wound up watching a lot of Oprah. That was before the book club, and Dr. Phil, and before a billion dollars. The Queen of daytime TV, I know her name will go down as king-maker: before anyone said anything, she said Obama should run, and the rest is history.

Along the line the phenomenon became a screened-in prophet. The audience began starting each show with interminable standing ovations, not because they’d gone to live-air but because Oprah had come to work—She. Had come. To work. Forsooth with such, the magic hour was set to commence. The idol one was noble, and beneficently began showering her worshipers in expensive consumer products, the worshipers who had made the pilgrimage to Chicago, like pilgrims braving a windy existence to hear a still voice.

Often the expensive consumer products would be hidden beneath the seats of the faithful, like little unbidden miracles summoned from the bottom up. Reports began circulating that Oprah would tuck each one of those special expensive gifts under the seats herself, and would let no one see her while she did it. When not twenty but twenty-one arch-viewers claimed to find such gifts on the same day somehow under their TV sofas in the privacy of their own home, Oprah said she knew nothing, and seemed to wink as she looked away—such bottoms could she command.

One day she became her own doppelganger, and the doppelganger said how big she always made the O in Oprah, and The Oprah could not stop laughing at the O.

Intermittently and then progressively, the show became more edgy, less tacitly Christian, and this occurred in tandem with Mr. Phil attaining his own hour, and Mr. Phil had always had his own interests—interests of his own. Oprah began trading in naughty topics, usually the dirty little secrets of teenage girls; but Mr. Phil’s teenage girls were even littler and dirtier too. Mr. Phil became a phenomenon himself, and one time Oprah threatened to buy Paris, after an inane doorman didn’t let her dine where she intended to extend her appetite.

James Frey lied to her; Jonathan Franzen rejected her; and Obama was just busy, and said he never liked that big wind anyways. But one time Oprah let it slip how huge her skull actually is, unlike anything wig-fitters in Hollywood had ever seen, and this was duly confirmed. A dissertation speculated she may have the largest simple brain of any human who has ever lived—and that is not even a joke.

Bill Buckley called her the one who is alternately fat and thin. It came and went, but when her figure first came into my sight, it was trim and fit. A tragic story was mostly suppressed, about the girl’s school in Africa she founded and funded, but no one wants to hear the details of that. Suffice to say, it was not her fault; except insofar as she had no idea what she was doing; she no longer need bother with anything she was doing money-wise—cause she had too much of it all the same; and she started putting neat black briefcases under the seats of those faithful; unlocking them required a code none could decipher, but still they got to keep the briefcases. Whatever was in those black boxes to this day is unknown.

Her entire career was one huge success after the next, and the victories became unseemly and ignominious. But the power of her magnetism never waned, and true believers only ever get what they want to get. We don’t know how she came so far. All we know is that one day a small man was so taken by her as to start jumping up and down on her corrupted couch.

For instance, the promoters of recent (and dramatic) genetic strides in intelligence by the “white” races accept evolutionary processes, as far as them being the “smart ones” goes. But, the normal evolutionary processes by which the savage, feral, brownish estupidos would acquire those “genetic strides”, i.e. by interbreeding — oh, HELL no! None of that. That ain’t nachurul.

Worse, their solution to their perceived “problem” is accelerated breeding by “white” races. Or, maybe there’s only one “white” race any more — I don’t try to keep up with the feverish re-characterizations of evolutionary processes that goes on the HBD crowd.

Yeah, because progressivism became the hegemonic ideology of the West with the democratic-Communist victory of 1945:

    http://conswede.blogspot.com/2008/07/social-paradigms-shift-eg-our-view-on.html

To illustrate what I talk about. Louis Armstrong visited Sweden in 1933. In all the news papers he was describe as something monkey-like let loose from the jungle. All across the line! And in the reviews by the most serious music critics.

Who would have imagined in 1933, that twelve years later Western Europe would undergo an America-led cultural revolution which would lead to the common belief that there are no differences between races?

Translation of two of the quotes:

Knut Bäck in Göteborgs-Posten, November 1933:
“This world is strange… No protests are raised against how the jungle is let loose into the society. Armstrong and his band are allowed to freely wreak destruction.”

Sten Broman in Sydsvenskan, November 1933:
“Dare I say that he at times had something monkey-like about him and sometimes reminded of, according to our perceptions, a mentally disturbed person, when he pouted with his mouth or gaped it to its widest open and roared like a hoarse animal from a primeval forest.”

The third quote compares the concert with a natural disaster, and Armstrong’s trumpet with a hell machine. The only good thing coming out of it, he says, is that it solves to old dispute of whether monkeys have a language.

This is what Europe looked like, up until 1945. And since some people will live under the misconception that this was a phenomenon of the ’30s, I here provide a quote from the Swedish Encyclopedia, Nordisk Familjebok, the 1876-1899 edition (here and here).

“Psychologically the negro can be said be on the level of a child, with vivid fantasy, lack of endurance, … can be said to lack morality rather than being immoral … etc.”

Even though the point here has been to illustrate how social paradigms can shift completely in short time (and this is just one out of numerous examples), let me add how up until 1945 all the focus was put on the differences between races, and after that all the focus has been put on what is equal (while ignoring differences).

Moldbug of course blames everything on the Protestants, but aside from that there’s not much to quarrel with:

    http://unqualified-reservations.blogspot.com/2007/08/secret-of-anti-americanism.html

Fourth, the world capital of anti-Americanism appears to be… America. Certainly, if there is a system of institutions in which anti-Americanism predominates, it’s the Western university system, certainly the West’s most prestigious universities are in America, and certainly anti-Americanism is no hardship to an American academic career. Where does Noam Chomsky teach? Not at the Sorbonne.

Here is my explanation of these four unusual facts. Your mileage, as usual, may vary.

First, I believe anti-Americanism is best described as an epiphenomenon of Universalism. The single most significant fact about the world today is that sixty-two years ago it was conquered by a military alliance whose leader was the United States, and whose creed of battle was this nontheistic adaptation of New England mainline Protestantism. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the European ruling class holds essentially the same perspectives that were held at Harvard in 1945. The US Army did not shoot all the professors in Europe and replace them with Yankee carpetbaggers, but the prestige of conquest is such that it might as well have.

It makes sense to view anti-Americanism as a postwar phenomenon, because it’s hard to find anything in Europe’s prewar political scene that corresponds to it. Before WWII, a European who found American influences pernicious was most likely a man of the Right, generally either an anti-Wilsonian aristocrat or a Bonapartist nationalist demagogue. After the war, and especially since the rise of the postwar-educated generation of 1968, European anti-Americanism has been overwhelmingly on the Left. Considering the animosity between these factions, it’s hard to find any continuity between them.

What he calls “anti-Americanism” is really anti-Westernism/anti-Whitism.

The Western countries keep doing this over and over again and then when the victims swamp their shores this is some big surprise. At least Germany offered some resistance to these standard Western policies lately (in the past it was a leader in murder) and is now planning to take a large portion of the refugees. I am not a fan of Germany, but I have to give them credit for being double-right.

It’s a constitutional monarchy in which the parliament and government elected by the people pursued liberal immigration policies for over 50 years. In which the media the people buy mainly argued for those policies. The schools their children learned in taught the virtue of those policies.

There is no evidence that even circa 1965 there would have been a majority for a harsher line let alone expulsions of those who had arrived- even the relatively higher rate of grumbling then would most likely not have gone so far. Even that generation of Britons broadly bought the ideal of Britain as a welcoming, liberal society. Once immigrants were in, no one was going to kick them out. And no one saw in those immigrants the roots of jihadism- nobody even imagined jihadism and the first generations of immigrants were mainly non-Muslims from the Caribbean anyway.

Imagine the cognitive dissonance if Britons had been told to back the expulsion of immigrants from the 1940s-60s era. All those fellow British subjects from the old empire [there was no distinction of citizenship then], mainly ordinary Jamaicans [independent only in 1962] and such [not even the bad ones notably more proportionately criminal then than your average native thug], herded back onto ships in the full view of the press. The majority would not have backed that.

By the time the real problem populations became visible in the 1980s, it would have been too late. There was no prospect of a majority for immigration control on a racial or cultural basis then. None.

So why blame the Queen? She is bound to the advice of her ministers, and even if she thought they were wrong she still has to account for the discernible will of her people. Her people clearly favoured liberal immigration and still do. If they want her to act otherwise, perhaps they should stand up and be counted.

One ceases to be a refugee once in a safe country that is a convention member.

Turkey doesn’t actually count as that, since they negotiated long ago a racist exemption for themselves in which they don’t have to treat refugees coming from their east and south as such- only Europeans [it was a post WW2 convention after all]. Smart cookies. Still, Turkey has in fact put up refugee camps so in practice they should be considered a safe haven. They aren’t killing or otherwise harming any refugees.

In strict convention terms, though, Turkey didn’t count. Fine. At that point, the refugees ceased to be refugees the moment they hit Greek or Bulgarian soil. Before Macedonia, let alone Hungary, for sure. These all being relatively poor, it is fair that Europe writ large kick in to support their efforts, but the other countries are obliged to take no one. Those people cease to be refugees and become economic migrants once they try to go farther.

Everybody wants a better life. But no one is obliged to offer it. They are only obliged to accept “refugees”. If they want to process potential migrants in a measured way for future acceptance, fine. That should happen in the camps in the countries of first refuge. Vast hordes of migrants leaving safe countries for richer ones are not refugees. Especially when they whine on TV in perfect English about how they are being abused by not being allowed to go onward to Germany whenever they want.

Oh come on. If you accept the evolutionary premises as you laid them out, HBD resistance to interbreeding makes perfect sense. We don’t seem to be at the point at which we can select traits precisely so, like all breeding projects since forever, any cross breeding could result in negative as well as positive outcomes for whatever we are seeking.

Besides, such cross fertilization only makes sense if you want to preserve and mix traits from both sides. If you don’t, it is a waste of time and effort.

America stands in an odd position- on one level it has lingered as the last sort-of nation state that claims the right to be such and act as such for itself, rather than be subsumed by an international system of rules like everyone else in the west claims to accept. Granted, it permits that set of privileges only for itself and denies it to other countries, even its allies, sometimes with the use of force. So, more cynical than most past great powers but still a traditional state at least for its own ends. I could respect that apart from the relentless hypocrisy explicit in American reluctance to admit these realities. American truculence on these points might have one day kept the new world order from the door.

On another level, America is the new world order and has been since 1945 if not 1919. It created the UN to order the world around itself. It even accepted constraints on the assumption the system would work to its broader advantage. It is the engine of economic globalization, ideological liberalism and progressivism, the diversity cult, and the idea of the proposition nation [which is inherently cultureless and borderless, and could serve as the basis for a universal state just fine].

In that sense, anti-Americanism is certainly not an epiphenomenon of universalism. It is anti-universalism. Americanism is Universalism.

  66. Max Payne says:

“If you left our country alone we would have never come to Europe.”

I’m not a fan of refugees or illegal immigrants (not to be confused with the legit immigrants that come with high-levels of education, large sums of money, or as business owners/job creators/investors) but I am BAFFLED at how hard it is to connect these basic causes which create the refugee effect.

The West removed Qaddafi and the result was a flood of illegal African migrants traveling the seas into the EU. It was as if he was working for the EU to assure Libyan shores are not used for illegal smuggling into Europe.

A secondary (MORE DANGEROUS) effect was the “liberation” of Qaddafis armories which sent heavy weapons, including relatively advanced missiles, right in the hand of militias and jihadist groups (does anyone remember the ISIL anti-ship missile attack against an Egyptian patrol boat on July 16, 2015, or the supposed North Korean manufactured anti-tank missiles used in the last war between Hamas and Israel; I can assure you these weapons didn’t come from eBay)

The West supported rebels (or terrorists) against Assad only to realize it has supplied and embolden Al-Qaeda branches. Syrian refugees followed. Syria was relatively stable prior to this insurrection the regime is facing. Syria used to house Palestinian and Iraqi refugees as well. I wonder where they’re headed now….

Saddam was a leader who may have been brutal but maintained a level of security in Iraq. Saddam, through ruthlessness and fear, kept the power running and the water flowing, offered free education and healthcare (albeit heavily embargoed by the West) to all citizens, and ensured government institutions operated effectively (if you’re a minister and you love your family you better make sure your ministry is working at peak efficiency).

The West removed Saddam and now Iraq is a cesspool with no running water, power, or working government facilities. Now Iraq spawns the likes of ISIL and hosts Iranian proxy forces and revenge-thirsty Shia militias ousting large portions of the population to take refuge elsewhere. Some have been taking refuge in Syria which now is not viable. Iraq also used to take in Palestinian refugees….

The question shouldn’t be “how do we deal with these refugees?” it should be “why do we keep creating refugees?”

Those who say refugees should look to Iran or to the GCC are forgetting that:

    1) Iran is target NUMBER 1 for the next big war and some of these refugees have already moved two or three times.

    2) the GCC is a very important client for the arms industry in the West; upsetting a client is bad for business so the West is not going to pressure any GCC nation to accept anything it doesn’t want. The GCC is so influential the US fought a war for a GCC nation (Kuwait & the First Gulf War; had Kuwaitis been massacred in Bosnia the US would have conquered the entire region to bring stability. To highlight the influence of GCC nations, a couple of days after 9/11 US airspace was effectively on lock down…except for one commercial airplane which picked up Saudi royals all over the country and evacuated them back to Saudi Arabia; the king of the GCC ladies and gentlemen).

    3) Countries like Jordan and Lebanon are already at overcapacity when it comes to refugees; lets not forget these countries have been accepting Palestinian and Iraqi refugees from previous Western military adventures for the past few decades. The cost of living has soared to unprecedented levels in these nations due to the influx of refugees. The EU will suffer the same, with cost of living skyrocketing.

    4) -istan countries are poor as dirt and no refugee is going to bring his family to a place where their living standard is significantly lower than what they were accustomed to in their native country. Frankly its also unfair.

Right now the West, NATO, the US, EU, etc. has two options, back off completely or go all-in and put some boots on the ground, defeat ISIL, and bring some real stability at the cost of blood. This half-assed approach is what’s causing all these issues. All or nothing. Be decisive. Stop pussyfootin’.

I wonder when the Ukrainian refugees will start pouring into the EU….

    It’s orderology vs odorology.

I think Europeans have a certain threshold when it comes to filth, stink, chaos, muckery, stinkery, etc. They want order. This is truer in the northern climes where winter has a purging effect on excess heat and growth.
So, Europeans have settled on ways of controlling society. They cannot tolerate too much yuckery, so they found ways to control birth and behavior.

In contrast, Indians and Africans have developed high tolerance levels for filth. What would make a westerner(or even an easterner)puke doesn’t bother them all.
If Indians were northern europeans, they would be puking all over at the filth and come up with ways to clean up india than allow it to fester like a maggoty wound. As it stands, India is one giant open toilet.
People say poverty is to blame, but it’s really the high tolerance level for misery and yuckery.
If Indians were imbued with German character despite their poverty, they would change their ways and stop having so many kids and make India more livable.

This high tolerance for yuckery is a big big problem for India. It leads to noise, pollution, disease, corruption, chaos, etc. It drags down India in many ways.
But if demographics is destiny and if Indians are allowed to migrate, it is a great weapon for taking over other nations.
Indians at home, because they have high tolerance levels for stinkery, will continue to produce lots of kids even if it leads to more problems. But since 100s of millions will be able to migrate, they will begin to take over other parts of Asia, Australia, Europe, and Americas.

Black Africans are another people with high tolerance for yuckery.
People who shit all over are overtaking those who shit indoors.

Japanese and Germans are the most clean, and they have super low birthrates. A German or Japanese doesn’t want to have kids unless he/she has everything under control. But idiot Germans now dream of growing old and having their bedpans changed by third worlders who are used to shitting all over.

Clean people will lose to the more fecund shit people unless they control their borders.

  73. Priss Factory, you are absolutely correct but you fail to see that events as they are now, were created (back then) and now they come to fruition based on policies and historical precedents of the past. What if Europe had left those nations of Africa and the Middle East alone, with their resources, what do you think would have been the outcome?

Per the present exodus of North Africa and the “Middle East”, all those events did happen in their social milieu but the events that created them began with external intervention at least 200 years ago, some even sooner. What if US left the Mossasdegh (Iran!) election process alone and not intervened?
What if Bush did not invade Iraq?
What if the North African governments (installed by the US about 90 years or so ago?!) did their own stuff and developed their own resources?
If I look at the template of the past 100 years, it is not IF but WHEN Saudi Arabia will fall and we will see real chaos. Obviously , US intervention may save the day but at what cost. Again, these templates will indicate future events but one cannot plant corn and expect pizza. As is planted (seeded, etc) the same will be reaped.

Indians who live in (or close to) filth are those who have absolutely no other option. Indians who can afford it have gated houses which they (internally) keep zealously clean. You are right about the large population being a serious problem (especially when combined with mass poverty that forces destitute rural people to move to urban slums), but growth is tapering off. Apart from that, the only problem in India is a widespread tragedy of the commons problem, not a cultural preference for filth and stink.

Germans know this is the kind of thing they will have to put up with much more of. Like they keep saying, there is moral imperative to let in refugees. A moral imperative does not mean something that one does because one wants. To be moral is to do the harder thing, come what may, even if it leads to extinction. Around Munich they know it will not be as bad as after WW2

Just as the Germans have given up all nuclear installations out of Green abhorrence of nuclear energy derived from the Cold War and threatened atomic devastation, WW2 has left them with a terror of any kind of racial nationalism and a belief the slightest hint of it will lead to disaster. It is well educated young women who are the main demographic behind the anti nuclear climate of opinion in Germany and the openness to immigration. Germany is not so much masochistic as in fear. A country can’t be totally defeated and occupied like they were without suffering lasting effects. Mainstream German politicians openly describe their policy as post nationalism. But Germany is far more homogenous-indigenous than France or Britain, and that probably makes Germans uneasy. The German wish to abolish Germany is in line with the anti-nationalism of civil service and technocratic sectors across Europe.

I didn’t say Indians PREFER filth. I said they have a high tolerance for it. And because they have a high tolerance for it, they keep having lots of babies who shit all over and make more trouble.
If Indians have low tolerance for filth, they would take a stock of themselves and control their own behavior, and control of high birthrates would be one thing.

Even in the West, people with low tolerance for filth and mess have kids only when they feel responsible and ready. In contrast, those with high tolerance for filth and mess keep laying kids like maggots. Look at those crazy Negresses.

Because Indians have high tolerance for filth, they would rather keep having more kids than take better care of kids that already exist and creating better institutions for a better society.
Now, if India were a closed society, this would be disastrous. But as long as globalism opens the world wipe open for all these Indians, it means they can just move to other places while continuing to produce more babies in India.

    This is the truth.

Yes, rich Indians live in gated communities, but they do little to fix their nation’s problems. They have no sense of responsibility and, very much like the Mexican elites, wanna dump their massive population problem on other nations.

Because Indians have high tolerance for filth, they would rather keep having more kids than take better care of kids that already exist and creating better institutions for a better society.

There is no magic formula to creating better institutions, and no one knows how. If you think there is some sort of magic bullet, or that some people are endowed with magic genes that help them create good institutions (like the HBD kooks seems to think) then you are even more stupid than your comments here indicate. Convincing large numbers of people to do the right thing for the longer term when doing those things conflict with individuals’ self-interest in the short term is the hardest problem in the world bar none, and genes have nothing to do with it. Every country that has good institutions today stumbled its way accidentally into such institutions, even your hallowed blond blue-eyed Nordics. Such paths can neither be analyzed perfectly nor can they be repeated. The best one can hope for is a long period of continued economic growth, peace, and political stability, and institutions will improve incrementally. That’s about the only common feature one can observe about countries that are considered “developed” today.

Back to India. I am sure your feverish brain, like this Raspail person (who suddenly seems to have become the Nostradamus of the kooky right) is horrified at the thought of millions of Indians pouring into your precious white countries. Yet there is no precedent that would inspire such horror. To this day, none of the refugee crises of the world have involved masses of Indians emigrating into rich countries. The only kinds of Indians who emigrate are highly educated ones with strong social capital. Indian and the UK had no visa barriers for visitors until 1984; no flooding of Indians to the UK occurred (and no, Pakistanis don’t count.) Yet you idiots continue to propound half-baked theories about India based on spurious and inaccurate knowledge gained second-hand.

I blame no external party for India’s myriad problems today. These are almost entirely the doing of Indians, and can be fixed by Indians alone. But accepting that does not imply having to accept dumbass theories formulated by anonymous kooky white supremacists on the Internet.

That’s because you don’t know the neo-fascist way. You have to work on the national character, cultural consciousness, and social discipline. As Hindus worship rats and cows, they are too busy praying to rat shit and bathing in rivers filled with cow caca.
You need to watch some Kubrick films with obsession with toilets. Advance of civilization is about improvement in the technology of shit. No matter how civilized a people, they shit. What do you do with this shit? That was the big problem of humanity. No matter how wise you are, rich you are, powerful you are, spiritual you are, and etc. you shit and piss. And this shit and piss make for much stinkery, disease, and puke-ishiness. At some point, Europeans said ‘enough of this shit’ and came up with effective ways to control the way of shit.
But Indians are still mired in shit and bullshit(figuratively and literally).

“The only kinds of Indians who emigrate are highly educated ones with strong social capital.”

Listen, Holy Elephant Boy. There are 300 million Indian emigrants around the world, and there’s no way all those are highly educated ones with strong social capital.

Besides, let’s say only the better kinds of Indians to emigrate overseas. The thing is as there are more and more and more and more of them, other nations will be threatened and filled up by all these dotters.
And even if they have strong social capital, why would a non-Indian society be overrun by people who look like Gandhi?

My ‘stupid theories’ are not the problem. The problem is the tons of shit in India.

Nuance seems to escape you, but I’ll give it a last go.

Like all armchair theorists, you can look at a situation and spin a theory about how “national character” or genes account for that situation. None of that field research to gather facts for people like you. Plus you will read old colonial literature (about worshipping rats, which Hindus don’t do, or cows, which Hindus venerate but don’t worship) and incorporate them into your already biased worldview.

A more cautious person could conclude from the situation (lots of public filth in India) that lots of people have other priorities they want fulfilled before they turn their attention to cleaning up shit. Among the few things you rightly observe, Indians do seem to have higher tolerance for filth. Is it because of some cultural (or genetic) proclivity? Or is it because it is something most people figure they can’t do anything about in the present political situation and eventually get used to? New York City is a lot filthier and more chaotic than most other American cities, even the parts overwhelmingly inhabited by whites. Does it say something about the culture or genetics of NY whites, or is it just that it’s a big diverse, densely packed city, with lots of axes to grind, and people just get used to the higher level of chaos and filth?

Western cities were once quite filthy, as you (I think) observe. Do you know that Indian aristocrats commented on the filth and pollution in London when they visited it in the early 19th century? Just imagine. Rich countries cleaned up after they sorted out their other priorities (say, like abolishing slavery). India might eventually do that too, though the large population is a significant drag. But as I pointed out, population growth is flatlining. There’s always hope, which I need to have, given that I have to live here and you don’t.

I don’t know where you get the 300 million number from, but even if it’s accurate, the lion’s share must be Indians who were born and raised overseas. Only a fraction of that 300 million would be emigrant Indians. So it’s not at all a stretch to assume that emigrant Indians are far more educated or entrepreneurial than the mean, and have more social capital. And as I mentioned before, Indians have never sent masses of refugees out of the country ever. In fact, Indians used to have a taboo against crossing the oceans, and caste rules strongly deterred emigration or even foreign journeys. It’s always been the other way round; India has had immigrants of various types (in addition to the more well-known invaders) throughout its history.

That’s all I have to offer. Next time you can talk to my elephant.

    Dear Max,
You wrote a full-length version of what I wrote shortly as “Derbyshirean estupidos”. The reason I used this phrase is because, in your words:
    1) The question shouldn’t be “how do we deal with these refugees?” it should be “why do we keep creating refugees?”
    2) The US people mostly hate or look down on Mexicans.

I am NOT a left-wing bleeding heart liberal, I am a business person. I find it grossly unfair that the war businesses are so privileged. If I pollute the environment, this is an externality which I have to pay for to remedy. How come war businesses can create the refugee externality and behave as if it is someone else’s problem, even blame the refugees. This would be as if I released pollution from my mine into Colorado River and then blamed the dead fish for rotting and polluting the river.

Now, as a mine owner I would want to blame the fish, but only the Derbyshirean estupidos would blame the dead fish for causing the pollution together with me. Unless, of course, the Derbyshirean estupidos have some financial interest too (own shares in my war, work for my war, or have family working for my war). Then they are not estupidos, then they are just old fashioned trashy liars.

Yes, the refugees are simply an economic externality of the Israel/US/Canada/Australia/France/Germany/Denmark etc war on Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan etc.

  96. peterike says:

Western cities were once quite filthy, as you (I think) observe… Rich countries cleaned up after they sorted out their other priorities (say, like abolishing slavery).

Ummm, not really. They cleaned up when they developed the technologies necessary for things like widespread, cost-effective running water, sanitation pickup, internal combustion engines, etc. These things made it possible, and they were quickly and successfully implemented in wide-spread public health movements, often backed by the force of law.

Well old chappie, these technologies have been readily available to India for quite some time now, thanks to whitey’s creativity. You can tell because of all the Mercedes rolling around Delhi, for instance. What’s lacking is the will to do anything, and the altruism to care about public health and not simply how much bling I can stuff into my Delhi mansion. India is rolling in wealth. It’s also rolling in corruption, nepotism and monumental greed. Maybe you wanna sort out THOSE priorities first, eh?

By the way, nice little bit of moral preening with your aside, “like abolishing slavery”! You mean of the sort that essentially still exists in India, the Arab world, etc?

You have a point. The sad thing is the bleeding could have ended after Iraq. Iraq War was destabilizing, but it was still mostly contained in Iraq.

But then, Obama and Nato knocked out Gaddafi, and encouraged allies to mess up Syria. Obama also weakened Russia by messing with Ukraine.

And let’s not blame the ‘coalition of the swilling’ too much. Most nations that joined did so only symbolically. They sent a few hundred troops to pretend like they were fighting.

Even so, this mess wouldn’t be happening if nations like Germany weren’t shouting to the world KOMMEN HEREN.

I have an idear. Remember the Berlin Airlift? IF Germans want the masses of foreigners so badly, then it should operate an air service to life entire populations from the Middle East into Germany. Then, at the very least, nations like Hungary, Serbia, Greece, Macedonia, and etc won’t be messed up by migrants/invaders/refugees trampling on route to Germany.

I call for the German Air Lift. Besides, it would be more humane — as long as Merkel the harridan bitch loves to yammer about ‘European human values’ — to fly those ‘victims’ directly to Germany than making them go on a long trek over 100s of miles of territory where the people are less welcomingische; it is so much like Holocaust to deny them air travel and ‘forcing’ them to walk on foot over so much territory.
