Of course, this being California, where government officials haven’t heard about computers yet, who knows when the vote tally will be final. I hear there is still a mule train of ballots en route from the Seven Cities of Cibola.

Also, ballots with write-ins cast in extinct languages, such as Pictish, Etruscan, Crimean Gothic, Punic, Hunnic, and Guanche, plus several unidentified scripts, remain to be translated.

Moreover, the state election board is currently bidding on an Ebay auction for a cherry 1971 eight-track player on which they hope to play the cassette submitted by an illiterate Swiss cowherd who yodeled his vote in Romansch.

Update: Actually, I was confusing Young Kim with Lil Wayne:

Young Kim –> Lil’ Kim –> Lil Wayne

Also Young Kim –> Young Thug, Young Jeezy, and Young Greatness, who just came to a completely nonstereotypical demise: shot at a waffle house.

Commenter TheMediumIsTheMassage points out that lately Lil’ Kim has been transitioning into a blonde Asian (or perhaps a Siamese cat), so I wasn’t too far off:

  2. There’s a tendency to compare media coverage of politics to that of sports, and the comparison is especially apt when it comes to “firsts”.

“The second black trans dwarf elected to statewide office in Oregon, but the first one with six fingers on her left hand” sounds exactly as momentous as “This marks the first time a World Series has been won in extra innings off a line drive to right field with two runners on base by a team that came back from a two-game deficit against a team that traded them the batter who made the winning run.”

As an expat whose last US domicile was Los Angeles, I was once told my ballot wouldn’t even be looked at unless the margin of victory was less than the total number of absentee ballots. In other words, they just stop counting when they’re sure they got a winner. Is that true? It seems like you’d never have really accurate past voting statistics if they did that.

I noticed yesterday that Scott Walker and his opponent, late in the evening, with almost all precincts reporting, were in a dead heat — and then somebody located 50,000 ballots from Milwaukee that had been overlooked or something, and it was all over.

Given how well upper Midwesterners prepare for big events, I’m sure they’ve got some to spare if you ask nicely. They may even throw in a six pack and a hot dish casserole.

You haven’t yet remarked on another woman elected to Congress who checks off lots of boxes that have gone unchecked since America’s founding, Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, traditional center of World Islam.

She’s the first refugee, the first Somali-American, and first hijab-wearing Muslim woman elected to Congress.

Following her election, she wasted no time in making sure that everyone recognized her qualifications for office:

“I stand here before you tonight as your congresswoman-elect with many firsts behind my name,” Omar said in her victory speech, to loud cheers and applause. “The first woman of color to represent our state in Congress, the first woman to wear a hijab, the first refugee ever elected to Congress and one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress.”

I hope Nancy Pelosi, privileged old white woman (and former Becky, check out her deb pics with JFK), will show appropriate respect to a woman with more Pokémon points. I hope Maxine Waters will happily welcome her as a “woman of color” with more points.

In 1992, Ted Weiss was expected to run for re-election in the 8th District, which had been renumbered from the 17th after the 1990 U.S. Census. However, Weiss died a day before the primary election. Nadler was nominated to replace Weiss. He ran in two elections on Election Day – a special election to serve the rest of Weiss’s term, and a regular election for a full two-year term.

There was a Wisconsin Supreme Court race right after Walker was elected, in which the Democrat appeared to be winning after election day. Suddenly, they found a pile of ballots in Waukesha County to put the Republican on top.

Speaking as someone who voted for Evers in the election, I am extreemly glad to be rid of Walker. Several of his top political appointees publicly stated that Walker did things against the interests of the state of Wisconsin in order to get big money donors like Sheldon Aldeson to donate money to Walker’s presidential campaign. These appointees endorsed Evers. Hey, if your own appointees vote against you, then something is wrong.

My wife still considers herself to be a Republican, but Walker got her voting a straight Democratic line.

Walker’s strategy was to divide the state, and have slightly over half hate him and slightly over half vote for him to piss off the other half. Trouble is, when you are making enemies of almost half the state, it is easy to miscalculate and piss off a few too many people.

The sad thing is many people were trying to warn the boomers and freepers about this, but they chose not to listen to our advice. It’s been frustrating how much hold DR3 narratives have continued to have over conservatives in the era of Trump. This election will drive home that there is no big movement of “muh based minorities” coming to save the GOP. Demographic change has brought us near the political tipping point.

Many conservatives are still in denial as of now. I read a bizarre article on the notorious cuck site “Red State” blaming the poor showing of Cruz in Texas on liberal migration from other states. The word “immigration” did not appear in the article.

    https://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2018/11/07/ted-cruz-won-blood-water-texas-democrats-smell/

That was Kim Duk-koo. He wanted to fight Mancini despite being heavier, and did a lot of stupid things to get his weight right for the fight (like not hydrating), which is probably what killed him. Wiki has:
Kim was lightly regarded by the U.S. boxing establishment,[5] but not by Ray Mancini, who believed the fight would be a “war”.[1] Kim struggled to lose weight in the days prior to the bout so that he could weigh in under the lightweight’s 135-pound limit. Before the fight, Kim was quoted as saying “Either he dies or I die.”[1] He wrote the message “live or die” on his Las Vegas hotel lamp shade only days before the bout (a mistaken translation led to “kill or be killed” being reported in the media).

    Hokie,

You could be right, most of the “new” Christians in California do seem to be of Asian ethnicity. As Caucasians head down the path of loosing their religion, along with their conservatism, Asians are beginning to pick up both those torches.

Young, Kim is just following the identification/naming convention in Asia. Putting the last name first is important, as family (immediate and extended?) is of higher importance than than the individual. At least that’s the tenet, practiced or not.

On a rhyming note, did anyone in the press take notice/report on what I thought was one most significant things Trump touched on at the “CNN most important network in the universe” press briefing yesterday? Trump said that a primary motive for making the US economy stronger was to prevent/forestall China’s economic rise towards economic world domination. He said something on the order of; the goal of the trade adjustments (war) was to slow China’s meteoric economic rise while simultaneously ensuring the US remained on one.

China’s yearly GDP rising from ~1.5T in Y2K to ~15T currently makes for one interesting (scary?) graph. Not as important as Steve’s “most important in the world” graph of course, but one worthy of attention.

I can’t tell you how many times I been on the trail and come across a chinaman stuck on the side of thr road with a surly mule. I keep telling these people, “a mule ain’t got no mind to learn Chinese!” That’s one of the hardest languages there is! Ain’t no mule gonna figure it out!

I worked on the railroad with the chinese. They’d start talkin chinese at me, and I’d say, “Lookit here… just act out what you want me to know with your hands. I’m not gonna lay rail in the hot sun, and learn chinese at the same time, while I’m standin’ in Nebraska!”

But anyway, I can always get a chinamans mule to do what they want em to do, easy as pie! Just say what you want in English! And every time I do, the mules listen, and the chinaman looks at me like I was Budda himself, come back to life!

If you want to know the truth, even mules know that English is the language of success! They don’t need to know no Chinese! And they ain’t never gonna learn it! I ain’t never seen it happen!

Back then you got two reps for the price of one. Good to see Jerry’s lost a great deal of weight and is looking healthier.

    I’m standin’ in Nebraska!

They put the Chinamen on the other end up in the Sierras so they could do the dying Americans wouldn’t do.

Yes. It’s a statistical inevitability if you think about it.

  84. @IHTG

Only if present trends continue unabated.

Yes. It’s a statistical inevitability if you think about it.

I’d say “a statistical likelihood” rather than “inevitability.”
