From Politico:

Clinton aides blame loss on everything but themselves
‘They are saying they did nothing wrong, which is ridiculous,’ one Democrat says.
By ANNIE KARNI 11/10/16 06:24 PM EST

Clinton’s advisers have explained to the stunned candidate that she lost the race of her life in large part due to Comey’s October Surprise — they said their plan of winning college-educated white voters and turning out record levels of Latinos was working until Republican-leaning supporters shifted back to Trump in the wake of Comey’s bombshell letter, 11 days before the election, and the necessary enthusiasm among Latinos and African-Americans could not hold. By the time he released his clearance letter on the Sunday before the election, it was too late to re-energize voters. …

But Clinton allies are also faulting the campaign for failing to develop a credible message for downscale white voters, arguing she could have won by a larger margin on the economy.

And some began pointing fingers at the young campaign manager, Robby Mook, who spearheaded a strategy supported by the senior campaign team that included only limited outreach to those voters — a theory of the case that Bill Clinton had railed against for months, wondering aloud at meetings why the campaign was not making more of an attempt to even ask that population for its votes.

If Bill Clinton could have run again he would have won easily. He's a good Ole Boy at heart. I doubt he agrees with the antiwhite leftward turn that the Democrats have taken. Even though I know he's a criminal dirt bag, I can't help liking the guy. That is not the case with Hillary.

  2. I can’t help but wonder how much of the praise and condemnation for any given strategy is meaningful. You can’t get a good sense of probabilities from only one case. Perhaps Trump’s strategy would fail more often than not, and we’re merely in one of the unlikely scenarios. Perhaps Clinton’s strategy was good, and fortune didn’t smile on her.

We can’t re-run history to check these things. Which makes intelligent retrospection rather difficult.

Anyway, Trump won. Good for him. Now we have to see how many of his ‘promises’ he’s going to keep.

  3. One thing Trump needs to do is to drain the swamp where much of the liberal disease is transmitted.- schools.
No Fed backed student loans for anything other than strictly defined STEM courses (and notify people that even they would be gone in his second term and returned to the market).
Get all of the Republican trifecta states – Govs and both houses and there are 25 of them compared to 4 for the Dems, to stop funding the lesbian dwarf tossing courses with taxpayer money too.

  7. As far as I can tell, the real lesson for Democrats is that they need to pick up the pace on replacing whites in this country. White voters let them down big time. Time to bring in new voters.

And you know what? They’re working on that problem every single day.

I love that Trump won, but I just don’t see how it turns the tide. Look at the demographics of those under 18, especially those being born in this country. Throw in even small amounts of immigration and a future Trump – even with yuge white turnout – won’t stand a chance.

Hillary was simply a decade or so too early.

Nope. The only hope for whites in the United States is to close ranks and form a nation within the country. Do that, and it doesn’t matter who wins the presidency.

If Trump carries through on his promise to significantly impede invasion (that's what it is) to remove invaders, and to reform the immigration system to reduce immigration drastically and keep out Muslims, he will give us more time to implement the strategy you suggest, and with which I agree.

I used to think that but another thing Trump did is to establish a floor on the Hispanic vote. That floor appears to be around 30% of Hispanics. He got about 25% of Hispanic vote in NY. The electorate of NY is as white as the electorate of FL at around the mid-60s. Yet one state is purple with a red tint and one is decidedly blue, why?

The largest minority in NY is black & in FL it's Hispanic, non-Mexican Hispanic to be exact. Also whites in FL vote GOP more. This election a majority of white NYers voted for Trump.

Trump needs to slam the door shut on high levels of future immigration. If he does that I think we'll be fine. White birth rates are low because of white urbanites. It's steady elsewhere.
    , @Neoconned
Neither party has a successor candidate to either Trump or Hillary. For the Dems who can unite the coalition of the fringes? Bill and Obama are term limited.

"Hillary’s lack of stamina was a contributing factor."

My guess is that now that she's finally been retired we're going to really start to see her health problems come out. We saw this in Utah in 2010 with Sen. Bob Bennett. He waged a weak, weak campaign, mostly justifying his attempt at another term by all the pork he would bring our way. He died 8 months before that term would have ended. He died at his home in...Utah? No, in Arlington, Virginia. Hillary Clinton, Even Bayh, Bob Bennett, etc., etc. Funny how these heroes of the people never want to return to the states they came from when they leave office.
    , @e
She couldn't draw a crowd, not even at a black convention of Baptists. It wasn't until the last 10 days or so that her campaign, with a lot of advance work, managed to bus in enough college kids to make her crowds look respectable. Then, in the last few days, she used rock stars and rappers and free concerts to pack people in.

Meanwhile Trump's crowds swelled very early on into giant love fests, happenings. He drew 10K with only one or two days notice and could've packed in 20K if they had been able to find venues that large in many towns and if the Secret Service approved, which often they didn't.

Trump's opening announcement that the 3 million-odd undocumented felons will be the first on the bus home is very good news for black and white low-paid Americans. You don't have to have much of an oversupply of labour to depress wages. If he can remove the other 9-10 million undocumenteds as well it will be even better, both for wages and real estate prices (which should hopefully fall somewhat).

Some illegal infiltrators (as Bibi calls them) are quite open about it. A few high-profile deportations should encourage the others.

Her husband gives her an incredible political opportunity which she screws up royally. If she’s lucky, Bill comes along and saves her ass. It must rankle but it’s impossible not to be aware of it.

One frightening aspect of this is that time and time again Mrs. Clinton’s failures can be traced to character flaws that she could have worked on correcting: paranoid secrecy, playing favorites, ignoring reality in favor of pet theories, stubbornly adhering to failed tactics and strategies, extreme hypocrisy, etc., etc. The story is always the same.

That's your typical female manager right there. I've seen enough of them in the corporate world to know. I dread and loath it whenever another one of these clueless Calamity Jane's steps into the top slot. I've learned how to work them, though; I've finagled promotions out of them and have even used my influence over them to set myself up as an éminence grise in my workplace, saving it from certain disaster. However, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't wish them out of there in an instant.

When you compare how smoothly and harmoniously things go when a competent man runs the show with the chaos and destruction wrought by the You Go Girl Sisterhood, it makes you long for a more sex-segregated society. How wonderful it would be if the workplace was still essentially a man's world. What if each little workshop and office in the land could be, class differences not withstanding, like its own little Oxford dining club? That sort of thing is grievously lacking in society today, much to our detriment.

An open dialogue would likely bring more people over to the right, since they would no longer fear retribution for holding incorrect views.

For Hillary to turn over her campaign to a guy who has spent his entire life in an SJW bubble is just one more indicator of the quality of her judgment. She seems incapable of absorbing the basics.

Oh, God. Mook probably knew about Miss Piggy's criminal past and was infatuated by both her and it, and thought everyone would be, too. Gay guys really get into the worship of 'feisty women,' as you could euphemistically call it, because they secretly want to be these women. Gay men have a fantasy of themselves being incredibly hot, crazy-ass daring, and law-defying. Almost all of them want to look like Sophia Loren and act like Bonnie Parker.

Also, the worship of criminals and mindless violence for its own sake is a hallmark of wimpy, intellectual leftists. It stretches from Saint Trayvon to the cop shooters, to romanticizing Palestinian terrorists, to Obama's sycophantic cozying up to that swinish old Weatherman, Bill Ayers, etc. Leftists worship criminal scum because they're gutless and cowardly, and are ashamed of it, and they secretly nurture the fantasy of wanting to do serious damage to the 'system,' even when they are the 'system.'

A psychiatrist would classify a lot of leftist ideology as simply being the stunted emotional growth of immature adolescents raging against Daddy-as-oppressive-authority-figure being transferred to every other form of authority in existance.

  33. Downscale white voters? What is that, an aspirational voter? One who hopes to save up enough to vote? Isn’t the writer reaching for lower class, low class, white trash voters?

Will Rahn of CBS (Digital) News wrote a well-titled piece called The Unbearable Smugness of the American Media in which he characterizes attempts at empathy for flyover country, saying much of it “read[s] like reports from colonial administrators checking in on the natives.”

And further on says, “We diagnose them as racists in the way Dark Age clerics confused medical problems with demonic possession.”

The HRC campaign, and the entire Democratic Party platform, depends on trashing white America. How else can the election be mischaracterized as MoveOn.Org did when it told people to take to the streets to protest “misogyny, racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia.” There is “danger” especially for “those of us who are on the front lines facing hate, including Latinos, women, immigrants, refugees, Black people, Muslims, LGBT Americans…”

Right, because… Donald Hitler and his 60 million voters can only be haters, soon to terrorize millions of innocents with fat shaming and jihad. And we can notice that white men are the only category fully excluded.

Not only was the entire HRC strategy to say “do not listen to anything my opponents say because they are haters,” but to build the coalition of everyone required the exclusion of someone, the white working class.

Hillary's lack of stamina was a contributing factor. If she held three to five rallies a day nonstop, she could have spent some time reaching out to those voters. Instead she was disappearing for days at a time. Trump out-hustled her.

This. Trump had the stamina of a teenager, being able to get out as often as he did. There’s a reason why Hillary was allegedly in poor health. She attended staged rallies very sparingly.

The only thing that was even more sparing was the # of voters who would turn out for her rallies. There was no point in her holding a rally in some Rust Belt small town with no blacks or SJWs around. Five people would have come.

  40. Clinton’s advisers have explained to the stunned candidate that she lost the race of her life in large part due to Comey’s October Surprise — they said their plan of winning college-educated white voters and turning out record levels of Latinos was working until Republican-leaning supporters shifted back to Trump in the wake of Comey’s bombshell letter

If one bombshell worked on Clinton, why didn’t a few hundred work on Trump? If hundreds of bombshells didn’t work on Trump, why did one work on Clinton?

Maybe it wasn’t the bombshell? Or if it was, maybe it was just like when you put that last straw on the camel’s back, and it breaks, it kinda wasn’t the straw, it was…you get the picture.

11 days before the election, and the necessary enthusiasm among Latinos and African-Americans could not hold. By the time he released his clearance letter on the Sunday before the election, it was too late to re-energize voters. …

If NAM voters are such mopes that they lose all their enthusiasm over one straw, were they really ever all that enthusiastic?

And some began pointing fingers at the young campaign manager, Robby Mook, who spearheaded a strategy supported by the senior campaign team that included only limited outreach to those voters — a theory of the case that Bill Clinton had railed against for months, wondering aloud at meetings why the campaign was not making more of an attempt to even ask that population for its votes.

K, so, why is Bill getting all these mentions? As Steve points out, they’re kind of stepping all over the Great Woman narrative. Is it because Bill’s insisting? Or because the Clinton team needs to take the fall, and Bill’s just the most plausible foil? Bit of both? Something else?

Any efforts to persuade them would have come across as insincere pandering. Bill could get away with faking that he cared about them, no one would have believed Hillary did.

How does Bill think screwing your own base by shoving a Reagan/GHWB NAFTA down their throats, endorsing or passing every other free-trade bill, endorse or be involved in every Wall Street/banking bailout from the Asian Tigers, LTCM, Russian ruble, Mexican peso crisis and handing the bill to the taxpayers for 25 years and then think a few words from Hillary about how much she cares is going to change things.

I think they're finished, at least in really high office. George P. Bush is clearly set on running for governor or a senate seat, but I think the GOP voters are tired enough of the Bush family that it won't happen. I guess he relocated from Florida to Texas because his Hispanic roots are in Mexico, not Cuba, but the performance of his father in the last presidential race wasn't impressive. If he runs for senate or governor he will have to take a position on border security. He is half Mexican and has three prominent family members who have worked to erase this country's border with Mexico. If he says he's against amnesty no one will believe him.

What has kept the Bush family so powerful for so long was the decades they spent cultivating patrons. Jeb Bush started writing letters to his dad on behalf of political donors from the time his dad was vice-president. The longer the Bush family spends without any member being in high office, the more that list of donors will diminish.

People tend to forget that Mrs. Clinton was obviously losing her New York Senate race until hubby Bill stepped in to save the day. That has been the story of Mrs. Clinton's political life. Her husband gives her an incredible political opportunity which she screws up royally. If she's lucky, Bill comes along and saves her ass. It must rankle but it's impossible not to be aware of it.

One frightening aspect of this is that time and time again Mrs. Clinton's failures can be traced to character flaws that she could have worked on correcting: paranoid secrecy, playing favorites, ignoring reality in favor of pet theories, stubbornly adhering to failed tactics and strategies, extreme hypocrisy, etc., etc. The story is always the same.

The one big difference now is that Mrs. Clinton can no longer rely on her husband. His bizarre behaviors and tics in public show beyond any shadow of a doubt that there is something severely wrong with him. He can no longer work a crowd the way he used to or control and dominate a group the way he once did when he forced his wife's senate campaign team to reform a bad campaign strategy. Mrs. Clinton is on her own and that means competence is now utterly lacking.

Maybe people don't care for those who spit on them. She put the mothers of gangbanging thugs and criminals who died in confrontations with police on stage as though they were mothers of servicemen killed in action. This was an insult to the entire country or at least to those who still retained their sense of morality and sanity. How elevating dead thugs to hero status is supposed to help black people is a good question; certainly sends the wrong message. That any whites actually found her appealing in some way just shows how degenerated many people have become.

Shocked. So basically Hillary’s campaign was run by Pajama Boy (and probably a whole harem full of pajama boys). According to Wikipedia he earned his college degree in Classics! Bill Clinton’s campaign was run by George Stephanopolous and James Carville, two greasy straight white guys who, while they maybe didn’t actually care about the working class, at least deigned to listen to their concerns.

I have a lot of gay friends and love ‘em dearly but, quite frankly, scarce few of them give a shit about the political concerns of middle class folks trying to raise families. Too many gay guys grow up in mansions and feel entitled to a badge of oppression by virtue of being gay.

The Democratic Party has given up any pretense of caring for the working class. Not since 1980 has the Republican Party had this good a chance to secure that vote. I’m sure they’ll follow through on it by instantly proposing massive tax cuts for the rich, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

At the end he starts talking about the importance of "persuasion." That is his one mistake. Otherwise everything he says is spot on.

It's very, very hard to get most people to change their minds. Persuasion doesn't work all that often, especially not with the kinds of people likely to get embroiled in a political debate to begin with, who generally already have positions they're committed to. What he doesn't acknowledge is that what the Left really needs to do is get over themselves and realize that people who disagree with them aren't all racists. You may never convince them or come to understand why they feel differently than you. Accept that doesn't make them a bad person. It's not a belief in persuasion the Left needs but a sense of tolerance towards the people who disagree.

If one bombshell worked on Clinton, why didn't a few hundred work on Trump? If hundreds of bombshells didn't work on Trump, why did one work on Clinton?

Maybe it wasn't the bombshell? Or if it was, maybe it was just like when you put that last straw on the camel's back, and it breaks, it kinda wasn't the straw, it was...you get the picture.

As Steve points out, they're kind of stepping all over the Great Woman narrative. Is it because Bill's insisting? Or because the Clinton team needs to take the fall, and Bill's just the most plausible foil? Bit of both? Something else?

    Well written.

Yeah, the Democratic Party of Florida actually named Trayvon Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, as one of their presidential electors. Insane!

Thankfully, Trump won Florida by 1.4%, so she won't get to cast an electoral vote...

And here’s the irony – it STILL wasn’t enough to turn out the black vote. However much pandering you do, it won’t be enough because of your unbearable whiteness of being.

As far as I can tell, the real lesson for Democrats is that they need to pick up the pace on replacing whites in this country. White voters let them down big time. Time to bring in new voters.

And you know what? They're working on that problem every single day.

I love that Trump won, but I just don't see how it turns the tide. Look at the demographics of those under 18, especially those being born in this country. Throw in even small amounts of immigration and a future Trump - even with yuge white turnout - won't stand a chance.

Hillary was simply a decade or so too early.

Nope. The only hope for whites in the United States is to close ranks and form a nation within the country. Do that, and it doesn't matter who wins the presidency.

One way to do that is to be more restrictive about citizenship rights. Such as, grant it only to people born here of 2 native parents, and only these people are allowed to vote.

My guess is that now that she’s finally been retired we’re going to really start to see her health problems come out. We saw this in Utah in 2010 with Sen. Bob Bennett. He waged a weak, weak campaign, mostly justifying his attempt at another term by all the pork he would bring our way. He died 8 months before that term would have ended. He died at his home in…Utah? No, in Arlington, Virginia. Hillary Clinton, Even Bayh, Bob Bennett, etc., etc. Funny how these heroes of the people never want to return to the states they came from when they leave office.

I’ve learned how to work them, though; I’ve finagled promotions out of them and have even used my influence over them to set myself up as an éminence grise in my workplace, saving it from certain disaster.

In what ways are they flawed?

How exactly do you handle them?

  60. I don’t understand why people are all that surprised at Tuesday’s results. The Communist Left, sure. But the rest of us…?

How about this for a ‘strategic analysis’ of the election: the American people have disliked and distrusted Hillary Clinton for nearly 25 years now (“winning” a Senate seat by pretending she was a New Yorker is hardly a litmus test of her electability) and only required a high-profile national election to prove it, resoundingly, once and for all.

As important for our country’s future that the reins of Presidential power be kept out of her hands, it’s equally vital that every effort be made to provoke her base – Steve’s now-famous “Coalition of the Fringes” – into further collapsing into warring intramural camps…..vengeful, scapegoating, deeply-neurotic parasites locked in a death struggle. It shouldn’t take much effort over the next few years to nudge blacks, for instance, into vicious conflict with gays, trannies and mouthy white women – groups they naturally despise and already chafe at having to treat as equals, let alone occasionally take a public dressing-down from.

An excellent strategy for Trump to pursue, particularly with those European leaders already simpatico with his notions on national sovereignty, is arresting, detaining or otherwise Assange-ing one George Soros into overnight insignificance. Hounding him into one or another shitty embassy for life after using some brass-knuckled legal pretense to freeze/confiscate his assets would effectively devastate the current iteration of the Democratic Party – and Western Civilization has known no deadlier predator than what the Democrats now are, which is a high-tech 21st-century Communism that, perhaps surprisingly, openly believes in vast incomes and private property out the wazoo (for Party poohbahs, favorites and insiders), while managing to have finessed their old, naive, anti-war rhetoric out of the playbook entirely. As for the “impossibility” of doing this…..well, we learned something about impossibility this week, now didn’t we?

Some anonymous commenter – perhaps it was here on the Unz site – remarked a few months ago, after having to endure the Newspeak bloviating of diversity commissars at his business, that he’d decided on the spot to vote for Trump, despite disliking the man, because a Trump victory was now the only possible avenue to this shit finally coming to a halt. That’s the message and the mandate we delivered to Donald Trump last Tuesday: that this America comprised of safe spaces and rape culture and white privilege and Black Lives Matter and trannies taking a dump in the ladies’ loo and ‘regime changes’ on behalf of Goldman-Sachs and “teens” playing the Knockout Game and walking down a busy street in any American city without hearing any English spoken and baseball games played in empty stadiums and Shakespeare and Dickens replaced by Celebrity Tweets and all-black debate teams and Caitlyn Jenner and Te-Nehisi Coates and about 20 million Mexicans and this… shit…. muststop.

That’s what sending Mr Trump to Washington. Nobody’s demanding he fix everything that’s wrong, but he has to halt the slide to madness and national suicide. It’s his only true mandate, and it’s best accomplished by pushing whatever’s left of the modern Democratic Party into Destiny’s Woodchipper.

Oh, God. Mook probably knew about Miss Piggy’s criminal past and was infatuated by both her and it, and thought everyone would be, too. Gay guys really get into the worship of ‘feisty women,’ as you could euphemistically call it, because they secretly want to be these women.

It stretches from Saint Trayvon to the cop shooters, to romanticizing Palestinian terrorists, to Obama’s sycophantic cozying up to that swinish old Weatherman, Bill Ayers, etc. Leftists worship criminal scum because they’re gutless and cowardly, and are ashamed of it, and they secretly nurture the fantasy of wanting to do serious damage to the ‘system,’ even when they are the ‘system.’

A psychiatrist would classify a lot of leftist ideology as simply being the stunted emotional growth of immature adolescents raging against Daddy-as-oppressive-authority-figure being transferred to every other form of authority in existance.

Professor Robert Weissberg once gave a lecture on the 'bimbo factor'. He said rich guys tend to marry good-looking women. But here's the problem. Suppose 1 out 10 people are smart and 1 out of 10 people are good looking. That means someone who is both good looking AND smart is 1 out of a 100, or rare.
So, most intelligent successful guys are not good looking but they marry good looking women who aren't so smart. So, their kids gain in looks but lose in smarts. Thus, the bimbo factor.

  69. Hillary ran an anti-working class campaign. She could barely conceal her contempt for flyover country and it was picked up on pretty easily. The white working class may not be the shiniest pennies in the fountain but even they were not going to fall for someone as fake as Hillary Clinton. I do agree that if she made more of an attempt to reach working class whites, it would have fallen mostly on deaf ears. Still, the margins were so thin in Michigan and Pennsylvania that more outreach could have done just enough to flip those states over and with it, the Presidency. I’m glad though that she thought free concerts with Lady Gaga was a better investment.

I also agree with the comments about Bill’s charisma. He could get you to give him your house while making it seem like it was your idea and make you feel good about doing it. Hillary, conversely, is America’s Ex-Wife. She has almost negative levels of charisma and charm. As a reminder, she got beat by a guy with absolutely no political experience with more baggage than any candidate since Kennedy. She’s really lucky to have done as well as she did during this election.

…Clinton expressed his frustration with the most recent (at that time) Democratic debate, which he said lacked a single mention of the fact that “84 percent of the American people, after inflation, had not had a raise of 1 cent since the financial crash.”…

…“And… breathtakingly, …middle-aged, non-college-educated white Americans’ life expectancy is going down and is now lower than Hispanics, even though they make less money.”…the gap between African Americans and whites is closing, but unfortunately not because the death rate among African Americans is dropping but because the death rate among white Americans is rising.” Clinton continued.”

That's a bit of an unfair comparison though between Whites and Hispanics. Whites have higher abuse rates for smoking and for alcohol (and now opiods) than Hispanics, whatever the other Hispanic social pathologies.

Plus, Hispanics have that long lived Amerind genetic quality, where they trade off a weaker immune system for less autoimmune disease and inflammation. Blacks have the opposite, but can live to older ages if they get past an old age, as they've got less chance of a flu wiping them out than older Whites, who've got weaker immune response.

IMO, also, it'd be pretty foolish to go all draconian on dealers to deal with the opiod aspect when prohibitionism has failed hard, and when the problem can be laid at the foot of pharma and overprescription anyway. If anything, why not throw terrible punishments at the MDs that are actually responsible?

It wasn’t until the last 10 days or so that her campaign, with a lot of advance work, managed to bus in enough college kids to make her crowds look respectable. Then, in the last few days, she used rock stars and rappers and free concerts to pack people in.

Meanwhile Trump’s crowds swelled very early on into giant love fests, happenings. He drew 10K with only one or two days notice and could’ve packed in 20K if they had been able to find venues that large in many towns and if the Secret Service approved, which often they didn’t.

Trumps main political instinct this campaign was nationalism vs globalism. We he says things like “we’re gonna bring the factories back” he genuinely believes he can do that, which he cant.
Clinton has invested ideologically in globalism, which a good chunk of her base has also ( erroneously, lower class to middle class urbanites attempting to signal and ape upper class traits). Sure Clinton could say “were gonna bring the factories back.” But that being anti globalism would alienate at least some of her “college educated” ( liberal arts major) base, and it would also be a lie that she knows is impossible to achieve.

If trump says the same thing, it energizes his instinctually nationalist base. It also isn’t a lie when he says it, he genuinely believes he can do it. He’d pass the polygraph test. Is he going to get another term anyway? Who cares, go for it, if it works its Yuge. If it doesn’t work, “Okay, that’s a shame.” He has his private yacht and sexy wife he can go home to.

Donald Trump is the fucking man.

All he has to do is close the border, and drain the swamp. He’s not fighting for his political future, he won’t win a second term.
While he’s at it he should implement a plan to slowly and steadily raise interest rates, cut taxes, and cut federal spending. Pop the bubble in the economy and give America the D-fib it needs to either die, or get growing again.
He’s a classic Wharton boy, not a quite an MIT physicist, but possessing of the instincts that alway lead him to victory.

He can easily get a second term and it's completely possible to bring factories back. It's already happening with textiles, which were supposed to be permanently impossible to revive as a decent-paying industry in America.

His biggest problem will be this chronic fear of success that marks the R team.

Stop immigration, win the culture war and you’ll get a large enough slice of non-whites voting for your side to forestall the tide until white birthrates bounce back (while theirs taper down).

  84. The gods give you the most brilliant American political mind of the last 25 years for a husband, but the Fates render your ears deaf to his advice.

The Greeks would have loved this.

From that Amy Chozick New York Times article Mr. Sailer linked to earlier

Early on, Mr. Clinton had pleaded with Robby Mook, Mrs. Clinton’s campaign manager, to do more outreach with working-class white and rural voters. But his advice fell on deaf ears.

The sophisticated data modeling Mr. Mook relied on showed that young, Latino and black voters would turn out as they had hoped…

In the final weeks of the campaign, a despondent Mr. Clinton held a flurry of his own events in Ohio, Iowa, the Florida Panhandle and Wisconsin, talking to the white voters who like him but who view his wife with distrust…

“I think Bill Clinton was right” about the need to concentrate more in those areas, said Jay S. Jacobs, a prominent New York Democrat, pointing to Mr. Trump’s victories in Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan, states Mrs. Clinton’s campaign had largely overlooked.

"...failing to develop a credible message for downscale white voters... only limited outreach... Bill Clinton had railed against for months, wondering aloud at meetings why the campaign was not making more of an attempt to even ask that population for its votes."

Everyone probably seen these stories already, but just in case:

"Leaked Bill Clinton Speech: Obama Years Left No Hope For White Working Class", Peter Hasson, The Daily Caller, 11/07/2016:

"...The economic stagnancy of the Obama years is to blame for plummeting life expectancy rates among white, working-class Americans, according to former president Bill Clinton, who privately told Democratic donors that lower-income whites “don’t have anything to look forward to when they get up in the morning.”...

...Clinton expressed his frustration with the most recent (at that time) Democratic debate, which he said lacked a single mention of the fact that “84 percent of the American people, after inflation, had not had a raise of 1 cent since the financial crash.”...

...“And... breathtakingly, ...middle-aged, non-college-educated white Americans’ life expectancy is going down and is now lower than Hispanics, even though they make less money.”...the gap between African Americans and whites is closing, but unfortunately not because the death rate among African Americans is dropping but because the death rate among white Americans is rising.” Clinton continued."

Is Trump a master manipulator? Did he manipulate Big Media into going completely ape and destroying their own credibility (especially where he was concerned?)? Did he calculate all of this?

I don't believe this, but, it has actually occurred to me now. That it could be doable, for a master manipulator. Say lil dumb stuff and set off Big Media constantly, so they make asses of themselves and and punch themselves out and underestimate his chances. He definitely benefitted from being perceived very differently by the left than he was by the center or the right.

Actually, I'm kinda entertaining the idea. It sounds crazy. Loopy. But billionaires can afford good advice.

The concept of the media punching itself out like George Foreman punching Muhammad Ali until George was exhausted might be useful.

Of course you have to be as tough as Ali was to let George Foreman punch himself out on your face. Trump took a lot of punches and stayed standing.

Madonna didn't even make a blip on the radar. White women rejected Hillary for the same reason white men rejected her: she was a career criminal who thought she could lie and cheat her way into a victory, which she always assumed was a coronation instead of an election. Anecdotally (which means nothing, I know), it was always a pleasant surprise to hear white women of all ages, education, and income levels despise her during the election, at least where I lived, which was a swing state that went for Trump this go around. It was the catlady and divorcee contingent that seemed to be the only white women who supported her.

Everyone should have denounced him as Hitler - maybe THEN the electorate would have gotten the message because several billion in anti-Trump commercials ("we go high") wasn't sufficient to get it across to those thick headed numbskulls.

The largest minority in NY is black & in FL it’s Hispanic, non-Mexican Hispanic to be exact. Also whites in FL vote GOP more. This election a majority of white NYers voted for Trump.

  100. Clinton’s campaign, in its demographic targeting, was the mirror image of Trumps. She avoided areas where she was loathed and he did the same. But he was cannier. He did a few rallies in places like SE Michigan, targeting blacks directly, bypassing their white ‘handlers’. And he had direct social and mainstream media access to his quiet supporters in the metropoli.
Hillary barely ventured out of Blue strongholds. Crucially, Trump avoided those areas too, because, the game was to increase his presence in the heartland while inducing complacency in places like Philly, Miami, Richmond, Denver and Milwaukee.

One thing Trump needs to do is to drain the swamp where much of the liberal disease is transmitted.- schools.
No Fed backed student loans for anything other than strictly defined STEM courses (and notify people that even they would be gone in his second term and returned to the market).
Get all of the Republican trifecta states - Govs and both houses and there are 25 of them compared to 4 for the Dems, to stop funding the lesbian dwarf tossing courses with taxpayer money too.

If you think the whinging of the lunatic left over Trump was good this would be wonderful.

It doesn’t require anything that complicated. Just allow college loan debt to be discharged in bankruptcy, the market will work itself out. Lenders will make useful majors mandatory for student loans.

What's a useful major? One of the reasons it was changed was that so many medical and law students would declare bankruptcy right after graduation. They had no job offer and no assets and only a promise of future income. If you claim you wanted to go into law to help the indigent or do research in medicine, you cancel out the likelihood of enough money to pay the loans back and the judge has no other option but to discharge them.

I don't understand why people are all that surprised at Tuesday's results. The Communist Left, sure. But the rest of us...?

How about this for a 'strategic analysis' of the election: the American people have disliked and distrusted Hillary Clinton for nearly 25 years now ("winning" a Senate seat by pretending she was a New Yorker is hardly a litmus test of her electability) and only required a high-profile national election to prove it, resoundingly, once and for all.

As important for our country's future that the reins of Presidential power be kept out of her hands, it's equally vital that every effort be made to provoke her base - Steve's now-famous "Coalition of the Fringes" - into further collapsing into warring intramural camps.....vengeful, scapegoating, deeply-neurotic parasites locked in a death struggle. It shouldn't take much effort over the next few years to nudge blacks, for instance, into vicious conflict with gays, trannies and mouthy white women - groups they naturally despise and already chafe at having to treat as equals, let alone occasionally take a public dressing-down from.

An excellent strategy for Trump to pursue, particularly with those European leaders already simpatico with his notions on national sovereignty, is arresting, detaining or otherwise Assange-ing one George Soros into overnight insignificance. Hounding him into one or another shitty embassy for life after using some brass-knuckled legal pretense to freeze/confiscate his assets would effectively devastate the current iteration of the Democratic Party - and Western Civilization has known no deadlier predator than what the Democrats now are, which is a high-tech 21st-century Communism that, perhaps surprisingly, openly believes in vast incomes and private property out the wazoo (for Party poohbahs, favorites and insiders), while managing to have finessed their old, naive, anti-war rhetoric out of the playbook entirely. As for the "impossibility" of doing this.....well, we learned something about impossibility this week, now didn't we?

Some anonymous commenter - perhaps it was here on the Unz site - remarked a few months ago, after having to endure the Newspeak bloviating of diversity commissars at his business, that he'd decided on the spot to vote for Trump, despite disliking the man, because a Trump victory was now the only possible avenue to this shit finally coming to a halt. That's the message and the mandate we delivered to Donald Trump last Tuesday: that this America comprised of safe spaces and rape culture and white privilege and Black Lives Matter and trannies taking a dump in the ladies' loo and 'regime changes' on behalf of Goldman-Sachs and "teens" playing the Knockout Game and walking down a busy street in any American city without hearing any English spoken and baseball games played in empty stadiums and Shakespeare and Dickens replaced by Celebrity Tweets and all-black debate teams and Caitlyn Jenner and Te-Nehisi Coates and about 20 million Mexicans and this... shit.... must... stop.

That's what sending Mr Trump to Washington. Nobody's demanding he fix everything that's wrong, but he has to halt the slide to madness and national suicide. It's his only true mandate, and it's best accomplished by pushing whatever's left of the modern Democratic Party into Destiny's Woodchipper.

Well put. And I agree with you that putting Soros in jail should be foremost of the Trump agenda. This guy’s not only an international swindler and con-man, he’s actually promoting unrest and terrorism in the USA.

Like Sabrina Rubin Erdely, her staffers believed there own false narrative, there deplorable so were not going to waste our time. Or as Obama famously stated

And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Of course these folks were the bedrock of the Democratic Party in 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and even through the 70's.

Defections in the South go back to Thurmond’s third party run in ’48, in the urban North to the mid ’60s.

Donald Trump is the only politician in U.S history that can claim to have defeated both a Clinton and a Bush.

Donald Trump murdered 2 political dynasties with 1 stone. Because of him America will never elect another Clinton or Bush into The White House again. He put a nail on their coffins.

Chelsea is not charismatic enough to be a future U.S president and neither is cross eyed Jorge P.

This is the end of a political era and we can thank Donald Trump for that. It's why the establishment hate him more than they hate ISIS. The Donald crushed the establishment's political darlings the Clintons and the Bushes.

Comparing politics to the WWE, Donald Trump is like the legend killer Randy Orton.

George P. may have a career based on a kind of racially mixed identity politics. Chelsea may have a minor political career similar to those of FDR jr. and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.

They trusted the polls and so left 60 million dollars unspent (or something like that). It was a close-run thing really, and I suspect they could have won if they went all-in. Gary Johnson got over 3x what he did in 2012, and that was entirely an anti-Trump vote. A few more thousands of negative ads would have pushed that higher.

The Johnson vote was more anti-Trump than anti-Clinton, due to his liberaltarian/libertine image. (Mostly based on his personal use of marijuana and advocacy of marijuana legalization.) It was partly anti-Clinton; he decried Big Government.

    Inbreeding can lower genes too.

Professor Robert Weissberg once gave a lecture on the ‘bimbo factor’. He said rich guys tend to marry good-looking women. But here’s the problem. Suppose 1 out 10 people are smart and 1 out of 10 people are good looking. That means someone who is both good looking AND smart is 1 out of a 100, or rare.
So, most intelligent successful guys are not good looking but they marry good looking women who aren’t so smart. So, their kids gain in looks but lose in smarts. Thus, the bimbo factor.

One must wonder how much comments such as Madonna's offer to give Clinton voters the same thing Monica gave Bill turned off women. I can't imagine my 12 year-old daughter asking me, or better yet her mother, Mommy, what's a b j ? What do you swallow? This was widely reported enough that any kid could find it on the internet. I did a google search and had no problem finding it. Perhaps its hip and cool to talk about that with your kids in Madonna's world but it is not good or normal in the real world. Perhaps there is a good reason Rocco wants to live with his dad. (Gift the child with a t-shirt that says, "My Mom Swallows"

I’m afraid that by the age of 12 they don’t need to have those questions answered.

Madonna didn’t even make a blip on the radar.

That’s a bit of an unfair comparison though between Whites and Hispanics.

Blacks have the opposite, but can live to older ages if they get past an old age, as they’ve got less chance of a flu wiping them out than older Whites, who’ve got weaker immune response.

IMO, also, it’d be pretty foolish to go all draconian on dealers to deal with the opiod aspect when prohibitionism has failed hard, and when the problem can be laid at the foot of pharma and overprescription anyway. If anything, why not throw terrible punishments at the MDs that are actually responsible?

Mrs. Clinton is on her own and that means competence is now utterly lacking.

she has reason to be secretive

Do that, and it doesn't matter who wins the presidency.

ha! In south africa it was called apartheid

This. Trump had the stamina of a teenager, being able to get out as often as he did. There's a reason why Hillary was allegedly in poor health. She attended staged rallies very sparingly.

The only thing that was even more sparing was the # of voters who would turn out for her rallies. There was no point in her holding a rally in some Rust Belt small town with no blacks or SJWs around. Five people would have come.

    "Warning – slightly nsfw:"

Slightly? You must be a construction worker.

F-bombs aside, he makes a good case for the left engaging the right, instead of banishing them and hurling insults.

But, his suggestion - that the proper thing to do is engage in dialogue - wouldn't turn out exactly as he would like. The left thrives on exclusion, and shutting off debate. An open dialogue would likely bring more people over to the right, since they would no longer fear retribution for holding incorrect views.

Like any good leftist, even a dissenting one, he is convinced that he is 100% correct, and all those ignorant right-wingers need is to have left wing positions explained to them calmly and clearly.

As if we haven't had left wing positions explained to us our entire lives.

“Like any good leftist, even a dissenting one, he is convinced that he is 100% correct, and all those ignorant right-wingers need is to have left wing positions explained to them calmly and clearly.”

At the end he starts talking about the importance of “persuasion.” That is his one mistake. Otherwise everything he says is spot on.

It’s very, very hard to get most people to change their minds. Persuasion doesn’t work all that often, especially not with the kinds of people likely to get embroiled in a political debate to begin with, who generally already have positions they’re committed to. What he doesn’t acknowledge is that what the Left really needs to do is get over themselves and realize that people who disagree with them aren’t all racists. You may never convince them or come to understand why they feel differently than you. Accept that doesn’t make them a bad person. It’s not a belief in persuasion the Left needs but a sense of tolerance towards the people who disagree.

"It’s very, very hard to get most people to change their minds."

Actually, it is very very easy if you realize that most people don't have minds but only impressions of reality and of emotionality of right-and-wrong based on the buzz and peer pressure.

Take 'gay marriage'. When most people opposed it, it would have been difficult to use rational arguments for it.

So, the media employed the power of sensa-politics -- politics of sensations -- with 'rainbow' colors, catchy slogans as substitute for thought('marriage equality'), idealized homo characters on TV and in movies, celebrity buzz, and sacralized images of holy homo. Once the buzz spread all around, even that bald-headed fool Charles Murray supported 'gay marriage'. He gave a rational-sounding reason for changing his mind, but he was just conforming to peer 'new norms'.

Also, young people are born with blank-slate minds(ideologically) and can easily be inculcated with PC in schools and even(or more so through) pop culture. (Even comic books turned homo-promo). They fall for first impressions from school and bright sensations of media.
Since the modern West is so youth-oriented, the powers-that-be use PC and Pop Culture to turn young people into Pink Guards who holler at, denounce, and insult their parents and elders who disagree.
The cult of Progress says the Current Year holds more truth than all of crusty history.
We live in Amnesiamerica where the past is just Evil White Folks.
Tim Wise's vitriol against old white folks(even the Greatest Generation that went thru depression and WWII) says much about cultural attitudes. It says the young must surely be better and wiser than elders since history progresses from bad old days to good new future. Esp since whiteness is vilified, the past is seen as worse cuz it was more white while the future is better since it will be more diverse.

Look how fast Russians were instantly converted into communists, Germans into Nazis, and Chinese into Maoists.
And look how fast Russians became un-commie, germans became de-Nazi, and Chinese became market than Mao.

It had to do with impressions and sensations, not book or ideas.

Most people don't have minds. They have impressions and sensations of truth, and those can be changed in a short time with the proper channels and means.

The wildfire spread of homomania says much about the mindlessness of the mind.

“I’d bet anything that the Bush dynasty will live on. Whatever one thinks of them, they are an amazingly successful family that is built to last many generations.”

I think they’re finished, at least in really high office. George P. Bush is clearly set on running for governor or a senate seat, but I think the GOP voters are tired enough of the Bush family that it won’t happen. I guess he relocated from Florida to Texas because his Hispanic roots are in Mexico, not Cuba, but the performance of his father in the last presidential race wasn’t impressive. If he runs for senate or governor he will have to take a position on border security. He is half Mexican and has three prominent family members who have worked to erase this country’s border with Mexico. If he says he’s against amnesty no one will believe him.

What has kept the Bush family so powerful for so long was the decades they spent cultivating patrons. Jeb Bush started writing letters to his dad on behalf of political donors from the time his dad was vice-president. The longer the Bush family spends without any member being in high office, the more that list of donors will diminish.

It doesn't require anything that complicated. Just allow college loan debt to be discharged in bankruptcy, the market will work itself out. Lenders will make useful majors mandatory for student loans.

What’s a useful major? One of the reasons it was changed was that so many medical and law students would declare bankruptcy right after graduation. They had no job offer and no assets and only a promise of future income. If you claim you wanted to go into law to help the indigent or do research in medicine, you cancel out the likelihood of enough money to pay the loans back and the judge has no other option but to discharge them.

It's the demographics. They were not quite what the Clinton and Mook thought they were. But they will be. And the democrats are counting on that.

Basically she’s a Jewish woman who’s more than thrilled with replacing the white majority in America because it ain’t a white Jewish majority.

That’s the problem with Hillary Clinton and the people she’s surrounded themselves with. All of them identify themselves, in some way, against this country’s historic majority, not as part of it.

Media and academia must be captured. Leftism must never be allowed to flourish ever again. Beyond the stated goals of MAGA, we will ensure that we will never be threatened by WW3 and Brave New World again

It's the demographics. They were not quite what the Clinton and Mook thought they were. But they will be. And the democrats are counting on that.

The emerging demographic majority isn’t quite there yet,” said Anita Dunn, a Democratic strategist and former White House communications director. “The idea you can get to a presidential campaign and just press a button and they’ll vote, it’s not there yet.” …

That is a terrifying comment. Essentially she is saying we are replacing you and when the tipping point is reached, there will be no need for real elections. It will be like pushing a button.

    Mark my words:

    Voting via “social” media.

Rural Oregon is very white and very right wing. They just get overwhelmed by the liberal cities and college towns.

    Rural WA too.

The college town nearest me (state capitol) is interesting. The loudest mouths are SJWs, but there are a lot of Our Types as well. They just stay very quiet. A lot of the people working there are rural deplorables, They say quiet too.

Mainstreaming “our”/their thoughts, laying out the arguments for it, developing the language, doing some psychiatric therapy for Dems Who Can See, ceasing to elevate the crazy fringe’s hysterics into the law of the land–we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us before meme becomes real movement and real movement affects institutions.

But already since Tuesday Chez Olorin has had nightly discussions at the supper table about people who are starting to “come out” as deplorables. To other deplorables, and the way that appears to work is, anyone not coming out with anti-Trump hysterics is worth sidling up to and offering a cautious word.

We’re adding some truly astonishing people to our list of folks to support in a restrained way. I.e., you don’t blurt it all immediately. You ask where they are at, you hear their responses, you meet them but not directly. You let them know they are free to speak. You give them that experience. You give them nothing they can use against you till the demonstrate themselves worthy. You hearten the troops and guide them. We’re between full battles at present.

"Like any good leftist, even a dissenting one, he is convinced that he is 100% correct, and all those ignorant right-wingers need is to have left wing positions explained to them calmly and clearly."

“It’s very, very hard to get most people to change their minds.”

Actually, it is very very easy if you realize that most people don’t have minds but only impressions of reality and of emotionality of right-and-wrong based on the buzz and peer pressure.

Take ‘gay marriage’. When most people opposed it, it would have been difficult to use rational arguments for it.

So, the media employed the power of sensa-politics — politics of sensations — with ‘rainbow’ colors, catchy slogans as substitute for thought(‘marriage equality’), idealized homo characters on TV and in movies, celebrity buzz, and sacralized images of holy homo. Once the buzz spread all around, even that bald-headed fool Charles Murray supported ‘gay marriage’. He gave a rational-sounding reason for changing his mind, but he was just conforming to peer ‘new norms’.

Tim Wise’s vitriol against old white folks(even the Greatest Generation that went thru depression and WWII) says much about cultural attitudes.

Most people don’t have minds. They have impressions and sensations of truth, and those can be changed in a short time with the proper channels and means.

The wildfire spread of homomania says much about the mindlessness of the mind.

Neither party has a successor candidate to either Trump or Hillary. For the Dems who can unite the coalition of the fringes? Bill and Obama are term limited.

The GOP? Their next candidate is very likely that nut job Cruz.

If neither party wins a viable primary candidate & both cconvention collapse into chaos what happens?

Think the sjw protests are bad w Trump? Wait for Cruz.....

The military will step in to restore order.

    Expecta military junta, and soon.
Maybe that's what we need to clean up the country?

Hillary ran an anti-working class campaign. She could barely conceal her contempt for flyover country and it was picked up on pretty easily. The white working class may not be the shiniest pennies in the fountain but even they were not going to fall for someone as fake as Hillary Clinton. I do agree that if she made more of an attempt to reach working class whites, it would have fallen mostly on deaf ears. Still, the margins were so thin in Michigan and Pennsylvania that more outreach could have done just enough to flip those states over and with it, the Presidency. I'm glad though that she thought free concerts with Lady Gaga was a better investment.

I also agree with the comments about Bill's charisma. He could get you to give him your house while making it seem like it was your idea and make you feel good about doing it. Hillary, conversely, is America's Ex-Wife. She has almost negative levels of charisma and charm. As a reminder, she got beat by a guy with absolutely no political experience with more baggage than any candidate since Kennedy. She's really lucky to have done as well as she did during this election.

She wasn’t “lucky”, she had the support of the entire media, the entire Democratic Party and most of the Republican Party. Trump is the one who is lucky he was able to win against those odds and not keep it close.

I don't think she could have won the whites in Ohio and western PA and Wisconsin.
Trumps main political instinct this campaign was nationalism vs globalism. We he says things like "we're gonna bring the factories back" he genuinely believes he can do that, which he cant.
Clinton has invested ideologically in globalism, which a good chunk of her base has also ( erroneously, lower class to middle class urbanites attempting to signal and ape upper class traits). Sure Clinton could say "were gonna bring the factories back." But that being anti globalism would alienate at least some of her "college educated" ( liberal arts major) base, and it would also be a lie that she knows is impossible to achieve.

If trump says the same thing, it energizes his instinctually nationalist base. It also isn't a lie when he says it, he genuinely believes he can do it. He'd pass the polygraph test. Is he going to get another term anyway? Who cares, go for it, if it works its Yuge. If it doesn't work, "Okay, that's a shame." He has his private yacht and sexy wife he can go home to.

Donald Trump is the fucking man.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jjoyK5_Ae48
All he has to do is close the border, and drain the swamp. He's not fighting for his political future, he won't win a second term.
While he's at it he should implement a plan to slowly and steadily raise interest rates, cut taxes, and cut federal spending. Pop the bubble in the economy and give America the D-fib it needs to either die, or get growing again.
He's a classic Wharton boy, not a quite an MIT physicist, but possessing of the instincts that alway lead him to victory.

He can easily get a second term and it’s completely possible to bring factories back. It’s already happening with textiles, which were supposed to be permanently impossible to revive as a decent-paying industry in America.

His biggest problem will be this chronic fear of success that marks the R team.

We tried a half black president and from Hellerys appearance I don’t think we were quite ready for a half woman president.

And, I might add, her policies haven't done anything for the millions in her "super predator" class, either. They are jobless too, even more deplorably so. These folks ran on being members of the elite club, and thought their donorist money was enough to win. Wrong demographic to pimp for in a democracy.

“And, I might add, her policies haven’t done anything for the millions in her “super predator” class, either. They are jobless too, even more deplorably so. “

Trump’s opening announcement that the 3 million-odd undocumented felons will be the first on the bus home is very good news for black and white low-paid Americans. You don’t have to have much of an oversupply of labour to depress wages. If he can remove the other 9-10 million undocumenteds as well it will be even better, both for wages and real estate prices (which should hopefully fall somewhat).

Some illegal infiltrators (as Bibi calls them) are quite open about it. A few high-profile deportations should encourage the others.

"I’d bet anything that the Bush dynasty will live on. Whatever one thinks of them, they are an amazingly successful family that is built to last many generations."

George P Bush endorsed Trump in August. We may see more of him yet.
